My kids were in the water for most of our trip during the first week of this month. Only the last day of our trip turned out cold enough to deter them.

Are there new headboards and flat screen tv's in the Hawaii building?

We stayed in Hawaii first week of this month. No headboards in sight, but the flat panels were in place.

Everything is done in Hawaii except for the headbords.... they have finally arrived and will be installed.

I'm hoping they will be installed by the time we arrive in March. The rooms looked kind of funny with the new decor, but the old green light fixtures!

It's been 2 years since we've stayed at the poly and I heard they rehabed the rooms. Can anyone tell me what they changed and are any pictures avaliable to look at. I checked out tikiman's website but didn't see any new pictures unless I missed them.

Here is the link to the on-line version of the WDW Vacation Planning Video: click here. Once you’re on that webpage, click on the RESORTS button. The webpage will rearrange itself and some new buttons regarding the Resorts will appear. Put your mouse over the Disney Deluxe Resorts Overview entry and select “Disney’s Polynesian Resort.” A video window will open and the Polynesian Resort video will begin to play.

It’s a nice way to experience a little bit of Disney magic without leaving the comfort of your home. ;)

Well it was a nice effort for Disney to create those videos for the resorts but I give them a D- for the Polynesian one. There is no piece of that footage that was created any later than 1996. You would think they could update it to at least show the current room or pool.

Oh, boy, do I agree. They really are in need of more recent footage for all of the resorts (and the theme parks too). Still, it was nice to catch a glimpse of a little magic (no matter how old it was). ;)

ITA!!

Have you read the UOG of 2006?? They give the new rooms very high ratings!! Good news for the Poly I guess, bad news for us dissers who like to keep it to ourselves ;)
you would think they would have footage of the vocano pool and new rooms because those new rooms are a HUGE selling point for the Poly!!! Huge!!

ahhhh it was wonderfulllll... :sunny:

Well the UOG is partly my fault. My trip out there to see the new rooms in August was for research for the UOG.

It is funny because even on the Disney official Polynesian page if you click on the photos around the pool area they show the new volcano pool and than a close-up of someone going down the old cement slide. I just have to wonder with all the money Disney has, can’t they get better people to do their web page and marketing? I don’t know about anyone else but I would be fired if I did that quality of work. If Disney did a better job with advertising their resorts I would have never had to create my web pages.

Tipping question!! How do I pay valet? Do I pay When they park the car, when they get it for me or both? Do I pay them each time I leave the lot? Sorry never used valet before :confused3

How much do I pay person taking my bags (concierge guest) to the room?

Do they ever get the rooms done early, we will probaly be checking in aound 11:00. :cheer2:

We have lower level Hawaii building. How far away is beach? Can I see fireworks from patio? Problems with bugs on first floor? :rolleyes1

Any replys appreciated?

Also, what is best way to MK - boat or monorail? How long does it take to get to park? Under 10 minutes?

On the WDW official website there is a picture of a room in the overviews that overlooks the monorail. Any idea as to which longhouse that is? I would love to stay there since there is no telling how many times I have watched that clip!

That would be Aotearoa. Rarotonga also has some great views of the monorail.

ANYONE????

I spent a night at the Poly last week on my way home from my cruise :cool1: . I have always wanted to stay there and was so pleased with the pleasant service I received from every CM. I have stayed at GF, Contmp, WL, and an AS and the servive at the poly was by far the most friendly. I just wanted to pass my observations on to the Poly management and pay a particular CM a compliment. To what email address should I send this to?

Thanks!

I pay $2-$3 each way when valeting. You really only have to tip on pick up but I like to tip on both.

How much do I pay person taking my bags (concierge guest) to the room? Depends on the amount of bags.

I tip $5 for the guy that takes them out of the car. I pay another $15-$20 to the guy that takes them up to the room. We usually have quite a few bags that are heavy so we tip accordingly.

Rooms are ready early all the time if you aer open to any room. We are picky and request a certain building. Therefore we have always had to wait til at least 4pm to get in. Others have had better luck.

If you are lagoon side then you will be just steps from the beach and you will be able to see the fireworks. We've never had problems with bugs.

We prefer the monorail.
