The Brewers just aquired Scott Linebrick from the Padres

Carmona of the Cleveland Indians has allowed no offense through this game so far tonight..If you know what I mean ;)

Apparently Texas isn't sure about trading Texiera. I read an article online today that said the Rangers really want Saltalamacchia, and that he would catch right away for them. Of course the Braves are hesitant to part with him even though they have McCann. Seems that they want a relief pitcher thrown in too.

I would like to see the Braves get Garland from the ChiSox. The talk is that the Braves would be willing to part with Renteria -which speaks well of the prospect behind him!

Anybody hear anymore about the Tigers possibly trading for Adam Dunn?

Glavine got win #299 last night. And the Braves lost. Good night for the Mets.

They're now even on the 1 - 0 games. ;)

Baseball Tonight didn't think there was a chance that Texiera was going anywhere, simply because the Rangers are expecting the moon for him. They said that when the Indians inquired about Kenny Lofton (yeah, they need him back for a third go around  ), the player that the Rangers wanted in return was the Tribe's top pitching prospect. If they want that for a 40 year old outfielder, imagine what they're asking for in return for Texiera. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I just heard that on ESPN radio. I still think it's going to be a boring trade deadline.

Texas seems to be a doomed franchise. :sad2: I thought they were thisclose to winning a postseason series or two 8-10 years ago when Johnny Oates was their manager. Seems like they've returned to their mediocre ways for the long haul. Poor front office negotiating won't help.

Good for Glavine. :thumbsup2 I've liked him ever since the Braves first called him up. I'm still hoping the Braves manage to squeak by and win the division though. ;)

Rangers vs. Mariners - 4 game series. Result - Texas 4 Mariners 0

If only the Rangers sucked a little more. ;)

Tell them to start watching Cardinals games and taking notes!

For the sake of convesation, is Biggio a lock for HOF? I now the guy is an excellent baseball player, and has had a long career. But is he one of the greatest ever to play the game? I don't intend to disrespect him, but is his real strongest asset longevity?

I'm biased. Of course he belongs! If Sandberg made it, Biggio should. Here's an interesting article about his chances:

I found this interesting:

Do the player’s numbers meet Hall of Fame standards?

In addition to the upcoming 3,000 hit milestone, Biggio boasts career totals of 1,813 runs scored (16th all-time, although two good years gets him into the top ten), 657 doubles (6th all-time, eight behind George Brett for fifth), 412 stolen bases, 286 homeruns, and 283 hit by pitch (2nd all-time, four behind Hughie Jennings). He has a Black Ink score of 17 (T-130th all-time) and a Gray Ink score of 106 (T-199th all-time). His HOF Standards score, with the average Hall of Fame score a fifty, is 54.9, good for 48th all-time. His HOF Monitor stands at 145.0 – anything above 100 is considered a likely Hall of Famer. So yeah, he meets Hall of Fame standards.

Finally! They pounded us for three games over the last three days but the Royals shutout that certain NY team tonight by a score of 7-0. Nice to see that high dollar lineup not being able to produce anything (even if it is for just one game). :)

OK, Jimmy. Point taken. Maybe Biggio just needs a better publicist. :lmao:

That Royals bunch is starting to grow on me. I hope the Tigers can sweet talk them out of that hot reliever they're shopping around.

I hope so too. With Dotel having a free-agent option at the end of this year, I would prefer to see a trade and us get something for him as opposed to having him walk away at the end of the year and the Royals get nothing for him.

Apparently it's just a matter of which team offers the most for Dotel. Some guy of ESPN was saying how it was a done deal that he would be gone. FWIW, he also said teh same about Teixeira.

Speaking of the Baseball HOF, I was listening to something the other day that really made me saw "Wow" in my head because I never thought about it before.

What team do people think had the most HOF players (or future HOF locks) on it's single season roster. May not be the best team ever, but certainly the one with the most impressive roster. Single season - not a franchise as a whole.

What I heard was people talking about which of these pitchers is the best - Maddux, Glavine, or Smoltz. All played on the same Braves teams for years. But the 1995 Braves are probably not the answer since they were all about pitching with those guys at the core.
