DisneyPhD,

She was 9lbs 5oz.

Wow! Healthy baby. Enjoy her sleeping. You need the rest!

How are your other kids doing with the adjustment?

My other two love having her here.

I've got a question for all of you. When is it too soon to take your baby to WDW? We have a trip scheduled in May. DH is going to do the FloridaHalf Ironman at FW. I honestly don't want to go. DH said it is up to me. I really want to be there to support him but I don't feel like exposing Kona to all of those germs so soon.

What do you think? She would be abou 6 weeks old.

For me I would say that would be a bit early (since I have to fly to get there, and you USED to also.) but since you only live 2 hours away it might not be so bad. I would try a sling (I never got the hang of it, but with a baby that young it would be very good.) Also I think the heat might be bad, but you live so close so the heat is bad at home too. (but you can stay inside more.)

Personally would wait a until closer to decide and see how you both are adjusting. I think it could be doable, but only if you are both up to it.

Floridafam: Your birth is almost just like mine. They broke my water around 8am and he was born at 1:30. No epi. for me though. :sad2:

I too would worry about the germ facter taking a 6 week old. I personally wouldn't do it without a sling. That way she would be protected from germs a little better. I couldn't live without my sling. I used it when we went up for the day when Kaleb was 8 weeks and it was wonderful and he didn't get sick. :teeth: I wore it all day and it never was uncomfortable, no foot or back pain. I got mine from 4 Peas in a Pod
Her slings are beautiful and well made, oh and they come with a video so you can learn how to use it. I never really liked the cradle hold. But I adapted the shoulder hold to work with a newborn. I just wrapped the tail around him to support his head, tucked it in the back and safty pinned it down in the front to support him. I wear him everywhere I go, docters, the grocery store, even church. He LOVES it.

Just quickly checking in and saying Hi to all of the new moms!

Allie is 12 weeks old today. It is hard to believe. Three months ago I thought she would never get here and now she is already getting to be such a big girl. The last few days I think her tummy has been hurting her so that has been a little rough but she is still sleeping fairly well at night although she did wake up at 3:45 this morning. :( Usually she sleeps from 8/8:30 - 6:00....that is soooo nice! :)

She is really starting to use her hands to try to grab onto things and to play. She loves her barnyard gym and likes to bat at the animals. She also loves to play with a burp cloth. She moves it around and tries to chew on it. I remember Nathan doing the same thing and it is fun to watch them learn to use their hands.

Allie really has developed one of those really big beautiful baby smiles and thankfully she is not shy about sharing them. She looked so precious this morning. She was wearing a new purple romper that came with a matching little sun hat. That girl really can pull off the hat look - it was adorable. Unfortunately I didn't have time to grab the camera but hopefully she will still be wearing it when she gets home (she spits up a lot still so we usually go through lots of clothes each day) and I can get some pics then that I can share. :)

I hope everyone else is doing well! :)

The good thing about the baby being 12 weeks is you are 12 weeks post pardom and healing and recovering. Everyone is geting setaled and comfortable together as a family.

It is going to be a fun summer!

Good morning everyone! Today I go to my six week check up. LOL! Kaleb is over 3 months old now. The practice I go to really has way too many patients. :confused3 I did have a appointment that was really 6 weeks after I had him...but I forgot because DH ended up having to have jury duty that day and I was stressed about him missing a day of work without pay. Plus we only have one vehicle...so I couldn't have gotten there anyway. Then they rescheduled me for March. Well the day of that appointment I called to confirm because they never called me...I of course wasn't in the computer. So I was rescheduled again for today. I could have gotten in sooner if I saw one of the other midwives, but I need to talk to them about birth control and this midwife(I've known her since I was a little girl from chrch) will respect my religious beliefs and tell me what is best for our situation. I hate having to worry about birth control. The last time we used a diaphragm, well you can see how well that worked. lol. I just don't know if we can afford BC pills. Plus with bfing that narrows your options. The mini pill is only going to work if you take it at the exact time each day. What are the chances of THAT happening? :teeth: One of the other midwives is trying to push a hormonal IUD on me. I don't know if you can do that with bfing and the last time I talked to my other midwife about it she said one of the ways it works is by not allowing a fertalized egg to implant. Which isn't the right choice for us. So we'll see. I wish she would give me a year supply of the mini pill in free samples. :teeth: :rotfl:

Talk to you ladies later. Have a good day everyone.

Oh yeah! For those of you ladies who have older babies that are still waking a lot at night...have you cut out your caffine? I know that when I first have a baby I cut out ALL my caffine because it ALWAYS makes them stay up more at night. Just a thought. :)

Hi Mommypoppins!

I was looking into that bc also, I think it is called Marina or something like that. My concern was it looked that IF you got pregnant the pregancy would have to be terminated and I could not handel that. Otherwise it sounded so good! (also it works for up to 5 years and we MIGHT consider having another child in 3 or so. MIGHT). I hadn't realized that it alllowed eggs to be fertized but not implanted. I don't think I could feel good about that either. Oh well more condoms for us for now. :goodvibes. I can't bear the thought of BC pills again. I gained weight on them the 1st time and I am only NOW starting to get it off. The strange thing was I didn't gain THAT much more pregnant (I gained 30 pounds on bc pills, only 13 more on top of that for each pregnancy.) I used to be skinny, oh well.

As far as caffine goes, I thought of that and cut it out for around 3 weeks. It didn't make any difference so now I allow a little bit of it a few times a week. It doens't seem to mater. It is a slippery slop because with out sleep I need caffine!

As far as

Hi ladies! I thought I'd post an update on Noah! He's 5 weeks now and just over 12lbs. He's sleeping really good, getting up just once lately. He was awake all day yesterday and today I'm exhausted! LOL! He is smiling so much and making eye contact lately, it's so great! He gets just a tad fussy at night right around 8pm, but it's nothing compared to what my other kids did! Also, we got notice yesterday that his birthparents rights (we're adopting) were completely terminated last week! Yay for us! :cool1: I do feel sad for them though. Weird emotions for me. :confused3 I am going to try to switch him to a regular formula soon. The hospital he was born in,put him on soy because his stools were runny. I think that's weird since he was only there 2 days, but whatever. Wish me luck on that!

Have any of you mommies had to switch your baby to formula with low iron?

What made you switch?

Thanks in advance :sunny:

I haven't been here in a few days, and I feel as though I've missed so much! Jimmy was 12 weeks old on Monday and is doing very well. I took his to his first baseball game yesterday, but he slept through most of it.
Last night was his first night in his crib. He slept from about 8:30-2:30. Not bad for his first night! I, on the other hand, overslept this morning and sent Jimmy off with my dad w/o his first bottle. I felt terrible but would have been really late if I'd fed him. I'm sure dad got to it as soon as they got to his house.
Only 29 more days of school here! I can't tell you how excited I am for the summer! My friends have invited Jimmy and me to come swim in their pool. I'll also be taking him to the lake where my dad lives on a pretty regular basis.
We're taking our first trip to OC, NJ as a family for Mother's Day. My DM, DS and her family will be going, too.

floridafam COngratulations on your new arrival! Is Kona a ref. to the Kona Cafe?

Hope you're all having a great day!

lisawynn,

Kona is a name her Daddy picked out. He is a triathlete and the big Ironman race is in Kona. It is a very special place to him and the name just seemed to fit.

:flower:

I hope everyone is having a great day. Kona just returned from her first check up. She now weighs 10lbs 3oz. I guess she is getting enough to eat.
:sunny:

I've been using Pampers Swaddlers for Kaleb and I just spent $30 on a huge box at Sams. Well since I have been using them we've been having accidents every day. I got into my stash and am using White Cloud at night so he doesn't wake up middle of the night soaked. Sunday morning his diaper was so wet that when he pooped it came out everywhere. He was covered from his neck to his toes. :crazy2: And he had just been changed around 3AM. I noticed that the inside of the diapers looks different. The "cloth" has a honey comb design...did I get a bad batch, or have they changed their ways for the worse? Kaleb isn't even close to exceeding the weight so I know it's not that. :confused3 Any insight?

No help, we normally do huggies. Sometimes with bf babys it comes out the back. Belive me I know poop problems like that, and my hubby has radar and is never within 10 miles when it happens!

My friends husband has a name for those, it fit perfectly.

Crap-tast-erphies!!!!! :rotfl2: Sometimes you just can't call it by anything else! God I love being a parent!

:rotfl2: :rotfl:
I am going to use that from now on. There is probably no better thing to call it. It's funny how people have different names for different things. When one of our babies is hungry DH always says that he(the baby) needs to go to the "breastaurant". :teeth:

I have never liked Huggies. I always thought the smelled so bad, even if it was only barely wet. Plus they leaked really bad with my infant boys. I usually just use Luvs, or White Cloud, I have been getting Pampers because I have been getting them at Sams in the huge box so I don't have to worry about running out and going to the store. I called Pampers last night and they are going to send me replacement coupons to replace the box of 204 diapers. So, hopefully they come through for me.

Last night my 2 year old woke me up at 12. He and Kaleb share a room so I was quick to get Ethan out of there so he didn't wake Kaleb up. He kept crying out. There was nothing wrong. He wanted to sleep in Mommy's bed. :sad2: DH brought him in and put him on our floor. This better not become a pattern. :earseek:

I spent the better part of yesterday online researching curriculum. I want to start schooling my oldest this year. He will be 5 in July. I want to start him in the summer so we can take off time during the winter instead. Kids don't play much outside here inthe Summer, it's way too hot, so a winter break is way more logical. There is SO many different kinds of curriculum...it's hard to decide what to get. I want to make sure he has all the same learning advantages as if he were going to public school. I don't know how it is in other places but here if you don't go to pre-K you get left behind in K because you are too far behind the other kids your age. :confused3 The 5 year olds come home and have TONS of homework. What happened to coloring in K? :earboy2:

Well my day has begun like always. It's barely 9am and Ethan has already pooped 3 times. :earseek: I just don't understand how someone has to go THAT much.

MommyPoppins I had the diaper dilema the first few weeks with Jimmy. I tried every brand out there. He was constantly peeing through his diaper at night. I found that the Pampers work best for me. I did buy a huge box of Huggies at BRU, but I gave them to my dad for when he watches Jimmy.
My friends here at school threw me a diaper shower about a month after Jimmy was born. I got mostly Pampers and some Luvs.
I also noticed that a diaper that is a little bit bigger can help prevent leaks.

Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday? I was kind of shocked by some of the moms and their comments about marriage, husbands, and kids.

I love it "Breastaurant!" :rotfl2: I think my poor hubby would like to go there more often. ;)

When my older DD (who also shares a room with her baby sister, who thank God does not wake that easily,) does that it often means she is coming down with something. Mostly an ear infection. She will cry in her sleep too. Thank God she can now tell us when her ears hurt, but we got one of those otoscopes from "Right Start" and hubby has figured out how to use it (but using it when she does have a confiermed infection, and when it is clear to know the difference) and we always cheack them at home now. I love it since we know when to take her to the Dr. now. The babies ears are still to small to see well at home, but hopefully later.

But then again it could of just been a bad dream. :grouphug:

Good moring everyone. Let the the eating, poopin, peeing, and changing begain! :cheer2: (one week from twm I will be taking care of all that in WDW, so life is good!) :teeth:

lissawynn, I misse Oparh. What was it.

Does anyone give their baby a pacificer at night? I started giving Jimmy one b/c he was sucking on his fist all the time. I wanted to try to avoid the thumb sucking. You can take away a nuk but not his thumb. When he wakes up at night he fusses if he doesn't have it. Did I start a bad habit?

DisneyPhD There's a link on the CB to Oprah's topic yesterday. It was basically about marriage suffering b/c moms devote all of their time to their kids.

I gave BR a binkie within two days. I didn't want to but the kid just loves to suck! He had shirts that folded over his hands and he was desperately trying to suck on his hand through the sleeve. Or he would latch onto any finger that came near him. So we gave up and gave him a binkie. I figured the same thing - it'll be easier to break him from the binkie than from his fingers.
