bellacam - Congratulations on your nephew! I hope he's well enough to go home soon.

Ladies, I'm bored. I'm not taking any more shoo-shoo night-night cough medicine. I actually slept pretty well last night and again this morning. I have managed to do a load of laundry and clean up the bathroom a bit. I've also been doing some Christmas shopping for Jimmy. I'll show you what I've picked out so far.

Here is the Elmo tool bench.
Elmo.jpg

Here are the chairs I've found so far. I'm just not crazy about the price of the faux leather one ($140) and I'm not happy about having to order a denim slipcover for the other one (the other choices won't go with anything in our house).

lissawynn - Well, at least you are well enough to shop on the computer :thumbsup2 . That tool bench is really cute. Aidan loves Elmo.

justhat - I'm so glad to hear Jake is okay.

bellacam - congrats on the birth of your nephew. I hope he can go home soon :wizard: .

Robin - The Poly is my favorite resort :cloud9: . I love how your trip to Hawaii turns out to be a trip to the Poly. You are such a Disney addict.

DH took Aidan to the doctor. They did a throat culture but it seems to be viral and he has to be home for the next couple of days since he is very contagious. I think I might be coming down with it. My throat was so sore all day. DH is going to have to take off again tomorrow because I just have to much to get caught up with at work. DH hooked up the dvr today  . That's a good thing because I feel awful and I want to go to bed early.

Hi Mommies,

Just got back from my tests. I don't know anything now as I have to wait for the Dr. to call. It hardly took any time at all.

She said I was going to get a warm feeling in my groin and I sure did. It felt like I wet my pants. That was interesting.

A woman walked out into the waiting room and poured herself a cup of coffee with her gown hanging completely open in back. I told DH he missed quite a show. :rotfl2: He was walking Kona around outside. She wasn't much older than me. It was quite a sight.

We got something to eat at a little place on the beach and then strolled by the beach for a while. It was so nice to spend time like that with DH.

lissawynn and DisKim,

I hope you both feel better soon.

dizagain,

What a night you had! My parents are in Michigan and they said it was very stormy there this morning. Glad you had a gas stove. I miss cooking on gas. We are out of luck when we lose power.

Robin,

I hope you are feeling better today.

J&D,

I hope you are able to get your computer fixed. Do you think that maybe it just needs a new power supply. Our Mac did the same thing a few months ago and it needed a power supply. I was in tears because it was expensive and not that old. The power supply was around $300.

I still haven't gotten to the list of the mommies that have mailed out their packages yet. I promise I will post something later.

Check back later. :cool1:

DisKim - Do youself a favor and stay home and get some rest. I can't imagine how sick I would have been if I hadn't stayed home for the last couple of days. I have 6 1/2 sick days left for the rest of the year, but there is no way I could have made it through a school day feeling like I do. I hope Aidan can rest and get better, too. I know when Jimmy is feeling lousy all he wants is to be held. My dad said he didn't cough at all today, but the child is filthy from playing in the garage.

floridafam - I hope you get your results soon. LOL about the lady with the open gown. I suppose she really needed that coffee. Don't you think she would have noticed the draft in the back?

I rewatched Grey's Anatony and DH on abc.com. I might try to watch Ugly Betty before my sis drops Jimmy off. I should take a nap, though. DH won't be home until tonight, so I'm on my own. Btw, that scene at the end of GA with McSteamy in the towel....I think there's drool on my keyboard.

Hi everyone -

Floridafam - I just got my mail and got a Victorias Secret free panty and $10 off coupon! Do you want it? I thought of you as soon as I saw it. :goodvibes

Welcome back Vald - glad you had a good time!

justthat - Thanks for posting the new pics of the kids. I love Madison and her alligator. That is just too cute that she loves him so much.

Alice - I've got to read back a few pages and confirm you booked at POLY??? Wow I'll be jealous!!

Lissa - hope you're feeling better. :grouphug:

Diskim - hope Aiden feels better and that you don't come down with what ever he has.

nucpharm - I am soooo jealous you got your DVc print. I've read all about it on the DVC boards. I can't wait to see it.

Jill - Glad you had fun at the reunion! I like cosmos too, but like Appletinis even more!

Ryan840 - I have a good deal for shoes - they won't be $10 but I got a pair of Stride Rite shoes from www.shoebuy.com for Cameryn for only $22.00, they don't charge for tax and shipping. You can probably find cheaper shoes than Stride Rite's on the website....so if you do, if you use this code: ASHFORDTEN - they will take $10.00 off your order. And there is no maximum to use it...also when you check out if you register with them they will take an additional 10% off. If you are signed up with Sunshine Rewards be sure and go through their link to get credit.

:cheer2: GLT - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :cheer2:

I've got to run - have a good day ladies! :)

zalansky- Thanks, I'm headed over to that website now!

lissawynn- I hope you continue to feel better, I can't imagine how much fun you're having lately  I hope Jimmy doesn't get bronchitis too, that it's just a cold or something that passes quickly.

DisKim- I'm sorry to hear you and Aidan are sick now too, I hope you're both feeling better soon!

Alice28- Here's hoping your parents will pay the difference and you can stay at the Poly! I love to dream about the day we can stay there- we may splurge a night or two on our next trip just for the convenience of the monorail with two young kids! I fugure by the time we can really afford it it won't be such a big thing, so why not just go for it :thumbsup2

ff- Too funny about the lady getting coffee! I hope you get your results soon and that it's nothing serious.

bellacam- I'm glad to hear your sister and nephew are doing well, it must have been pretty scary for everyone!

dizagain- Sorry about all the drama last night, glad everything turned our ok though with the tornado!

Ginamarie- Have fun snuggling Olivia :cloud9:

justhat- Thanks for updating us on baby Jake, I'm glad to hear all is well!

fabumouse :wave2:

I'm off to find some shoes for Alex, see ya later!

Z- We haven't booked at the Poly yet, but we're planning too. Only snafu right now is that now SOG is showing they have availability for their hotel the dates I wanted overflow at the poly. I think it's a glitch since it has been RED for NO AVAILABILITY all last week. We are still going to stay the first 5 nights at SOG and then 4 nights at the Poly. My parents agreed to pay the difference for us for the price of SOG and the Poly to make it work. :cloud9: :goodvibes

DisKim- I hope you don't come down with whatever Aidan has.

FF- that's crazy about the lady with her gown! I was flapping around the other night but I DID have my underwear on and I was too doped up to care. The nurse helped me keep the back shut while I was shuffling to the bathroom. They offered to cath me but I was like "I'm not that stoned, thanks."

I hope the scan will show what's going on with your pain.

Diz- wow, did you have some crazy night! I hope tonight is way calmer for you!

lissa- I like that leather chair- it's pricey, but darn cute! And Annabell could use it later on (I'm trying to justify the price).

gina- hope you got some quality snuggle time in. :grouphug:

I have had a headache all afternoon, I think from a combination of things. I helped in the preschool this AM. No biggee. Went grocery shopping and I am making a new pampered chef recipe for dinner. Anyway, I am going to check on that dinner----

I am once again so far behind but it's been a busy week here! I did see the new pics of everyone's kids and OMGosh! They are all getting so big and they are all so cute! :)

And justhat~ I was also wondering about baby Jake! I am sooo relieved to hear he is doing well! I was worried when she hadn't posted in a while.

I will have to try to catch up with everyone else another time as I'm really far behind on this thread and I don't have time to read many posts right now. I am still so busy with school. I had a major test today, I have a midterm exam tomorrow, and another major test on Thurs. (*I AM SICK OF TESTS NOW!!! Okay, I feel better now that I have gotten that off my chest! ;) ) I am so looking forward to next week as October 9-10 is my fall break which means I won't have school after this Thurs. until the following Thurs. and I really need the break! You have no idea how much I wish I was spending that week at WDW! :(

Today was also Kylie's 1st day at her new daycare. I really like her new daycare so far. They do things so much better IMO than her previous one. She isn't quite used to it yet though and it will take some adjustment time for her. Her teacher said that she woke up and was a bit scared after her nap b/c she didn't know where she was. After she wasn't so disoriented she said she did great. I walked in and saw the teacher and Kylie and a few other kids playing this afternoon and Kylie seemed pretty happy then so I think she will do fine.

After I picked her up we had to head to her old daycare to pick up her portraits. I don't know if I mentioned that her daycare did them a couple of weeks ago or not but they had professional portraits done on a day I didn't have classes so I was able to take her, have them done, and then take her home which was nice. Anyway, she refused to take her pictures in 2 of the shots without her Chip and Dale animals (well, Dale anyway...for some reason Chip is often getting tossed aside but they both have to go with us everywhere anyway). The other shot, the photographer managed to trade Kylie's chipmunks for one of her stuffed bears. Kylie also wore her chipmunk shirt that I bought her at the Children's Place so I guess chipmunks was the theme for the day, lol! The pictures turned out sooo good IMO and I had one heckuva time trying to decide which ones to buy but I didn't spend as much as I could have so I think I did pretty good. Kylie also got a free tote bag with her picture on it. It's so cute! Anyway, I don't know how big these are going to be as Photobucket has a new sizing system since the last time I did this (it's been a while) and I am still playing with it but here are the pics I ended up buying. Sorry if they end up being huge. I will have to fix them when I decide which one to use for my new siggie later.

Well, Kylie and Scott are both asleep so I guess I should try to study a little for my mid-term while I can. Have a great night ladies! Sorry I am behind. I promise I will try to catch up with you all when things slow down.

ETA: It was 93 degrees here today! So much for fall weather, huh? I actually wanted to say that when we got to Kylie's old daycare she got so excited and headed right to her old room and then when we were leaving she tried to head to the playground. It made me sad since she is so used to it and now she is starting over again but I do know that she will be fine. I still felt bad for her though. She didn't even get to see her old director as she was already gone when we arrived. I was a bit surprised that she didn't stick around like she promised but oh, well. I guess it's a good thing though since Kylie is used to her and it might have upset her or something.

Hey Super Moms!

Today Mr. K told me that Kailey had a GREAT day and the whole class was doing their best today - that's what a 3 day weekend will do for some worn out kids (we had Yom Kippur off). Anyhow, it was nice to hear - and I brought in some project materials for extra bonus points. :thumbsup2 I am *so* not above buying off my child's Kindergarten teacher. Hey, can I have that as a tag?? ;)

Diskim - hope you had a great birthday and I agree that being a mom on some days seems to create a neon sign over your head that says "Give me any random, poorly-considered thought you might have running through your mind right now".

Gems - I feel for you. Kailey was the same and would just get hysterical if I left the room some days - it was hard to pee.

BnB - your MIL sounds like my FIL!! Did I mention to this group that he told a friend of mine who is a private therapist with a newborn and about to return to work, that he would *never* have worked privately while he had young kids? Yeah, father of the year material, that one.

And there is NO such thing as planning too far ahead, you're right. I've already picked out my cabin preferences for our cruise in fall of 2008. :thumbsup2

Justhat - I had a friend who was that crazy about naptime - and all I can say is that she went through hell trying to get her child to sleep at night. :confused3 Poor Madison and the accident! Kailey also only had accidents at that age when she was home. I was never prepared for one in public. And with all the education between me and DH, we have two "early" children - meaning we had intended to have them, just not quite when we did.

Also - Kailey had the same sleep problems. It made me crazy how people would give advice from the inane to the abusive and acted like I hadn't tried everything within reason. CIO made her vomit, too.

Loved the photos!!! Your kids are so dang cute.

Bellacam - how scary!! I hope the baby is doing well and isn't too stressed by staying in the nursery - is that Special Care?

Robin - I am so sorry about the kidney stone!!! The people I've known who've suffered through them called them absolutely excruciating.

Dizagain - I am so not looking forward to the day that I have to deal with the "cool" kids issue. :rolleyes1 And about your night of hysteria - makes ya crazy, doesn't it??? I am also not looking forward to Kailey still being hyserical at age 12 over storms. I just keep telling myself that it's a good thing we live next to NYC and the theater.

Jill - I know! :guilty: I regularly wonder how we're going to deal with the loss of DH's parents.

Hillbeans - the guy who gave me the article is a bit socially challenged, so I don't quite know what he was thinking. I've been a SAHM for 3 years. My DH interviewed for a job that required more travel than he had been doing for his previous company but also promised more money long term - and at the same time, my boss dumped about 10 cases in my overloaded mailbox and Kailey was not happy with her daycare situation. :wave2: See ya.

Thanks for the article on Vargas. It's so difficult not to expect it *all*, all at the same time.

OT - Hillbeans does anyone ever get you confused with the Dis-er Cool-Beans?

Nucpharm - I *never* ask Kailey if she has to go to the bathroom before we leave the house - I *demand* that she sit on the toilet. :thumbsup2 :teeth:

Welcome back Val! :)

Z - great. I went directly to that shoe site and bought Kailey a $40 pair of shoes. I cannot for the life of me find a pair of dressy mary janes in her size - but they had them there. Her feet better not grow for the next year!

Ryan - good luck on the shoes! Stay in your budget.

Tasha - what a cutie pie!

So poor Madeleine is trying to sleep while Kailey watches power puff girls at power puff decibels. I tried to get M to sleep upstairs, away from the tv, but she's having a day. But all the shrieking and monster growling keeps startling her awake. I don't know how you people with heavy sleepers get them like that!

And I just sneezed and woke her up again!!!!!! :sad2:

HELLO!!!! SORRY TO BE MIA SOOO LONG!!

Yes, Baby Jake is doing great. Thanks so much to Justhat for emailing me to make me get on over here and post. And thanks to dizagain and fabumouse, as well as justhat and everyone else for keeping us in your prayers.

To recap, Baby Jake was born 8/1/06 with Transposition, a congenital heart defect. He was transferred to Duke at 3 hours old and had a catheterization at 5 hours old to put a hole between the ventricles of the heart to allow the oxygenated blood to mix with non-oxygenated blood. Over the next few days, they got him off the ventilator and I finally got to hold him when he was 2 or 3 days old. Then he had open heart surgery on 8/7/06 at 6 days old to correct the defect. Oh the miracle of modern science! He did very well in surgery and was in ICU from post-surgery until the following Saturday 8/12/06. We moved into the hospital that night when he moved to the pediatric floor. That Sunday, they said he'd probably be there a week. We were heartbroken to think we'd be living like that for a week! Fortunately, the congestion in his chest cleared, the weaned him off the oxygen, and put him on oral meds and we were discharged on Wed. 8/16!

We've been back to the Duke Children's Clinic twice and he's had one echo that showed normal functioning of his tiny heart. He is a little trooper! He's nine weeks old today and so precious. Here's a picture taken 9/21, so he was about 7 weeks old.

I'm on maternity leave until Nov. 6 when I return full time, but I've got some part time work I've got to do this month...

Hope all of you are doing well!!!

I have tears in my eyes - I am soooooooo happy that Jake is thriving. I am eternally grateful that we have the medical resources we do in this day and age - and this gives me one more reason to feel blessed.

:woohoo:

Hope you stay on this thread!

:cheer2:

LglBlonde- Thank you so much for sharing Jake's story with us, and his picture- he's just precious and I am so happy that he is thriving and healthy now. What an ordeal for you and your DH to go through! :grouphug:

Tasha- those pics of Kylie startled me because she is so grownup looking! What a doll! Amazing how time passes.

Fab- WTG Kailey for having a good day at school! :woohoo: :woohoo: That's great news!

Yes, passing a kidney stone is excruciating. I would rather give birth to my 11# son again; seriously. Labor pains at least wane off for a minute or two or so between contractions.(and you can get an epi!) Like I said yesterday, kidney stone pain is like razors being grinded into your back, CONSTANTLY, to the point where I throw up uncontrollably and have been the ONLY times in my life where I thought I was going to pass out from pain. It's horrible and awful and I was reminded how I need not to treat this lightly. I am not supposed to have much of: salt, animal protein, chocolate, green leafies, berries, tea, cranberry juice and peanut products. I've been careless about the chocolate, meat and green leafies lately. And tea, come to think of it....I was drinking iced tea over the weekend cause I was sick of diet Pepsi. I gotta get back on the freaking 'let's prevent any more stones' bandwagon. Have I mentioned the little to no chocolate SUCKS!?!?!?!!? :furious:

No time for a proper post, but just thought I'd let you know there's a 0.07 click on Sunshine right now!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Welcome LglBlonde!!! Glad to hear that your little one is doing so well. One of my dad's cousin's son had a heart transplant at around 1 month of age, so I know what you've been through!!! Keep us posted---he's beautiful!

Alice28 said:

I'm having a hard time staying away from it while nursing - not that I believe everything I hear, but chocolate does seem to upset Madeleine's tummy. :guilty:

And I always thought kidney stones were caused by hereditary mixed with too much calcium (e.g., cow milk) intake?? :confused3

lglblonde - That's so great that Jake is doing so well. He's so sweet! I love that little outfit. Thanks for updating us!!

lglblonde - thank you for sharing your story....my heart strings were pulled reading your story and seeing Jake's sweet face! I am thrilled he is doing so well. Continued blessings to your family.

Fabu - I hope you used the $10 off code at Shoebuy! I found that site from a referral someone made on the budget board....funny that whenever I read the budget board I end up spending money instead of saving it!

nucpharm - thanks you for the sunshine tip! I got it! :thumbsup2

Have a good night everybody :grouphug:

LglBlonde- Welcome! I'm so happy to hear you and baaby Jake are doing well! I can't even imagine having to go through that- did you know what to expect before he was born or was it all a complete shock? He's absolutely adorable!

Tasha- I can't believe how big Kylie looks!!! She is adorable and those pictures are GREAT- I especially like the one with Chip and Dale, although the smile in the one with just Dale is beautiful. It seems we've all found really great photographers here on the DIS!

fabumouse- I stuck to my budget, they didn't have anything for him for less than about $20 even with the $10 off, so I passed. Cute stuff though!

Alice28- No chocolate or excruciating pain... I'd have to think Long and hard about that one :teeth:

I'm off to think about possibly cleaning something maybe :teeth: I've got a couple people coming over tomorrow to look at some furniture I have for sale, wish me luck!

LglBlonde~ Welcome!!! I am so glad baby Jake is doing well. I can only imagine what a nightmare those first few weeks must have been like. Thank God it all turned out okay! We hope you'll stick around on this thread. Jake is adorable!!! :)

Robin~ You think you were startled, lol! I was in complete shock when I saw Kylie's pictures for the 1st time this afternoon. I think that was one of my first 'OMG, she isn't a baby anymore' moments after seeing those! She looks so grown up! It's amazing to me because she is still the smallest one in her age group at daycare but she also looks more like a toddler than a good many of the others. She's just not as tall and she's really skinny. Her 12 month pants are still too big. She just doesn't seem to gain weight. I wish I had that problem! Most of the other kids also still have baby fat and she doesn't really anymore (other than maybe a little in the face). She also has so much hair! If I don't put it in pigtails she looks younger, but the pigtails make her look at least 2! It's amazing! I nearly cried when I realized how grown up she has become.

Okay, yes, I am procrastinating. I should be studying! I haven't even started and I have an online assignment due on top of my exam tomorrow. I am so ready for fall break. I think I am going to take Kylie to daycare anyway during my break next Tues. just so I can get some sleep. I haven't slept much in the past few weeks and it's starting to take its toll. Anyway, I really am going to study now. It's 1:30 a.m. so I guess I am running out of time and need to get it done. Night!

Wow Tasha Kylie is so cute!! I think that Chip and Dale make it look even more Autumnal on the pictures!! I can't believe how grown up she looks!!

Lglblonde - Great news on jake, I am so glad that he is doing well!

Robin - Hope you are feeling better from your stone! I can't imagine the pain from that!

Lissawynn - Poor you, did the chicken rice soup help any?
I hope that Jimmy doesn't get it too!

Kim - stay home and rest! You will get over it sooner if you do that! Poor Aidan, did they give you anything for him?

FF - I :rotfl: about the lady in the gown! My DH would have been mortified if he had to see something like that - good job yours was outside!

Justhat - I love the pics of your kids! Madison always has such georgeous doe eyes on the pictures that you post and Henry is a cutey and a half!!

Diz - Those storms sound scary!! Did you manage to save any of the food?

fabmouse - I need to pee lots!! And Shelby doesn't make it easy at all!! She seems to have settled down a little in the last couple of days, I think it's just another phase! ......I Hope!

Bellacam- congrats on the new baby. It's great to hear from you, are you feeling any better?

Well DH has a cold, but appears to have gone into full blown man flu mode which includes - I am so ill, I can't do anything, I am going to die, etc etc this morning before I came to work I had to get showered, dressed, hair, make up etc, change the baby, dress the baby, feed the baby her cereal and milk, clean up last nights dinner dishes and empty the dishwasher, get the car out and then actually ran out of time to get myself some breakfast too. DH and I are meant to have an agreement that he does all the house/baby stuff on days that I am at work, he certainly doesn't do any of it when he has to go to work or something! It's very frustrating how men seem to think that having a cold is worse for them! :furious:

oh well - I guess some things will never change!!

I am off for my scan at 2pm today, which I guess will be about 9am eastern (i think) for you guys. This whole time difference thing is a pain!
I am looking forward to seeing Flumpy again, hopefully he will co-operate today!

Speak later!
gems

Morning. I'm staying home one more day. I woke up at 5 with a terrible headache and decided to bite the bullet and call it a day. I have major pain in my face and am hoping it's b/c of the crap clogging up my sinuses. I'm taking more night-night stuff and going back to sleep once Jimmy is off with my dad. I'm also still coughing up all sorts of lovely stuff, but at least it's getting out of my system.

I'll catch up later.

lglblonde - I'm so happy your son is doing well! Continued positive thoughts and prayers for him and your family. :goodvibes
