I'm back. Her major emergency was asking if she could use her fish soap (which is a bar soap with a toy fish stuck inside). She uses that everytime so not sure why she decided to ask now. SHe has moved on to making a birthday cakse for Minnie Mouse's birthday-she's addicted to that episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Joats, I don't think I burped Madison past about 4 or 5 months. Hard to remember exactly but I know I was definitely done by 6 months. So my guess would be that you don't need to burp Jace, but then again, if he has any sorta reflux problems or anything where burping would help him then I'd just stick with it. After all, it won't hurt him.

DisKim, sorry that venting to your husband didn't really help you and that you're not feeling too happy. Not that they don't try, but I don't know how much emotional support husbands can provide sometimes. Good luck clothes shopping-I think finding clothes for kids Emmy's age is hard no matter who they are. They're just so picky and full of complaints at that age.

J&D, when does your football season end? I can imagine how much it stinks that your husband is always gone when football's in session. I get that way about call nights sometimes, mostly when it's a weekend, like today for example. It's bad enough that he's gone 30 hours at a time, but when it's a Friday call then he doesn't get home till around 2pm Saturday, sleeps the rest of the day, then has to go back to work Sunday so the whole weekend is ruined. And I imagine much of football is the same regarding weekends.

Oh, and don't be deceived by Henry's "bedtime". He still wakes up throughout the night, but everynight he eats at 8pm, goes to sleep around 8:30 and then sleeps for a longer period before his first night feeding, usually around 12:30. Of course, like Vald said, since I said he follows this routine everynight, last night he was up till 9:30, but he slept till 1:30 so at least he kept the same time interval. Unfortunately the rest of the night he generally wakes up at the 2 hours intervals he does during the day, but I'll take when I can get.

Cabmom, that's a beautiful portrait of your boys. You'll have to show up the finished product you use for your Christmas cards.

Jill, we love the Spy Museum too. We went a lot when it first opened and probably should have gotten the annual pass that year. Did your girls like it? I love John's Halloween costume btw! I think he looks so cute in it. And I agree that you've gotta dress them frouffy while you can! I can't believe he'll be a year old by then.

GM, we found movers to be a huge expense too and tried to do it without them. We couldn't though cause we moved after most of our friends did and there was no way I could have helped move any furniture being 6 months pregnant and we have a lot of stairs to get into our house so my husband couldn't do it himself. We really only had them move the large furniture too, and not even that much cause we bought a lot of new stuff, and it was almost $800.

Fabumouse, glad that your FIL is helping out a bit now. Mine are on par with your FIL but they were only here for a day and I was in the hospital most of that day anyway so it didn't really matter. Yes, that's right, they spent a week in WDW with the rest of the family but only a day with the new baby. Oh well.

Henry is rousing now to eat. I swear that's all he does is eat. If I weren't weighing him and seeing these incredible weight gains I'd seriously think that I'm not making enough milk. But my grandfather gave me an infant scale when Madison was born and I've been weighing Henry on it since I noticed that he seems unsatiable at times and he has gone from 8 lbs. 10 oz. last Friday to 10 lbs. today. It seems like an abnormal rate of gain, but maybe that's just cause I'm used to Madison who was not the biggest eater and dropped off dramatically on the weight percentiles. Today she's 2.5yo and she's 27 pounds so still pretty low on the charts. I guess they're just different kids, so I'm glad I didn't buy him too much stuff in advance based on her sizing.

Hi Mommies,

FYI-some of the Halloween decor stuff is 1/2 off on www.disneyshopping.com

I bought the Mickey Halloween flag, candy bowl and doormat.

Use the code enjoy25 for an extra 25% off the sale price.

I got the above 3 itmes for $32. :thumbsup2

Hi moms!

I scored big time shopping last night. At Children's Place and Old Navy combined, I got Lucas 4 shirts and a pair of pants and a shirt each for me and DH and it was all under $100. :thumbsup2 Does anyone know how Children's Place sizes run? I bought 18 months and they look huge. I'll probably have to exchange it all for 12 months.

BnB - I'm probably late on this, but have a great trip! I hope your MIL doesn't give you too much trouble.

val - I hope Katrina is feeling better.

bellacam - Lucas and Harley can compare notes on meds. :lmao: I hope you had a great date night. I could go for a steak myself! I can't wait until our dinner at Le Cellier.

floridafam - Thanks for posting all the great deals you find.

Alice28 - Congrats on the PS2. I admit to playing a few games every now and then.

J&D - Thanks for the free sample link.

nucpharm - I hope you get your internet hooked up soon!

tkyes - I hear you about getting winter coats early. We got Lucas's so late last year that there wasn't anything left at most stores. I'm definitely shopping for it early this year.

fabumouse - Glad you DH talked to your FIL. Hope he becomes a little more helpful.

ginamarie - Good luck with the Christening tomorrow. I can't wait to see the pictures.

llij - I skipped my 5 and 10 year high school reunions. Maybe I'll go to 20 or 25. I don't keep in touch with anyone I went to hs with.

cabmom - That's a gorgeous portrait!

DisKim - Lucas is a biter, too. He doesn't do it in anger though - I think he does it to soothe his gums. Sorry your vent to your DH didn't get any results.

justhat - That's great that Henry's doing so well weight-wise. Lucas was weighed Wednesday when I took him to the dr and he was 21 lbs - the exact same as he was at his 1 year checkup. I know he got taller, though.

joats - Glad to hear Jace's eye appt went so well! I can't even remember the last time we burped Lucas, but he was always a self-burper anyway.

Where has lissawynn been? School must be keeping her busy.

No major plans for us this weekend. We're going to dinner with DH's sister and a few cousins today and I don't know what we're doing tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Moms!

Cabmom- that portrait is AMAZING! I think making it into Christmas cards is a GREAT idea!

SL- I am not sure how CP clothes run; I think they run a little big, as I bought some stuff for the boys there several years ago. Great deals!

Jill- Congrats on getting so much accomplished! I did too yesterday, once I got my butt off the computer. Got the floors totally done, washed my car, swept the porch and cleaned up the counters in the kitchen. :thumbsup2

FF- You're killing me with the deals! I definitely want to check out the Disney one---I really liked some of those items.

Justhat- sounds like Henry is a great eater! Glad Madison's emergency wasn't anything too 'emergencyish.' (AKA messy). :p

J&D- I know what you mean about being alone getting old, really fast. Trust me. I hope the season goes by quickly! :wizard:

GM- Hope the christening goes really well and I can't wait to see pictures!

Joats- I can't remember when I stopped burping Molly- probably around 5-6 months. I thought your high school picture was a great idea- esp since I just found my senior picture in DH's dresser, I had one handy! Here I am....1989 was when this was taken. I graduated in 1990.
ebay154.jpg

ETA- the angle I took this picture at makes my arm look BIG and my head look small! LOL! I'm sure you get the gist...

Robin,

I can't be held liable for any shopping you may do today. :lmao:

I love Halloween and those items are really cute. You can't do better than 1/2 off and an additional 25% off. Plus, I clicked through sunshine to get the credit.

I should have ordered the littel candle thing but I don't know where I would put it.

Alice, great photo! It might take me awhile to find a photo of myself from high school, but I'll look. Our house is now littered with photos of Madison so the ones of me have been pushed aside.

I just went to order Madison's Minnie costume from TDS and it's $79!!! I'm so mad I talked her into Minnie cause Mickey is a lot cheaper. I think I'll ask her again. The thing with Minnie is that you have to buy the ears separately, but they're included with Mickey. I can do without the gloves so Mickey would be $39. The gloves come with the ears for Minnie, but they're $25. And then shoes. Well, she can just wear the black Stride Rite shoes I just got her if we do Minnie. I can't get over $79. Henry's Pooh costume from BRU was $19!

ETA about Henry's eating, it sorta concerns me. I am sure it's normal and he's just different than Madison, but it seems like an incredible amount of weight he's gaining everyday for not eating anymore than she did. Yesterday he was 9 lbs. 11 oz., so 5 oz in a day. And he was 9 bs. 4 oz. 2 days before that. Madison was one of those oz/day gainers, if that. He's also got a killer diaper rash, which was rare with Madison too. She had maybe 2 her whole diapered life and not till she was much older. But this guy has a bad one, bleeding and everything. My husband blamed me for wiping him too well, but I know that is not the problem. Hopefully the various ointments I've been using will work soon.

Oh, and she's not budging on Minnie.

/
justhat - I hope you can find a cheaper Minnie costume. I noticed that the costumes online and at TDS are different - if you have a chance you might want to see what they have in person.

Alice28 - I love your senior picture!! You and joats have me digging around for all my old pics. I even found the Glamour Shots me and my friend did when I was in college.

floridafam - Let me know if you find any deals on clearance sandals. I dug out a pair of my old black sandals and they don't fit anymore. :guilty: I've been wearing flip flops too long. I'm off to check out Target.com.

Good afternoon moms! :sunny:

Today has been a crazy day with the phone ringing off the hook. The girls got their teacher assignments today and all their friends are calling to see who got who for a teacher. Listening to the kids talk on the phone is cracking me up! :lmao: The funny thing is that Meagan got a teacher that I took some graduate classes with two years ago. She was finishing up school as I was starting. I’m excited about it though, because she is a really neat person and Meagan will love her. :thumbsup2 Katie got a wonderful teacher too and as a bonus her best friend is in her class.

SL and Robin – Those are great pictures of you guys! You all are beautiful! :goodvibes

Robin – It sounds like you had a very productive day yesterday too! Don’t you just love those days?

Cabmom – It is great to hear from you! I love the portrait of your boys too. That will make a lovely Christmas card.

Justhat – Sorry to hear about poor Henry’s diaper rash. :grouphug: Meagan had horrible diaper rash a few times and we had to wash her rear with water, then air dry her put on some special ointment that the doctor gave us. When does Henry go back to the doctor? I’m sure the weight gain is fine, but for your own peace of mind can you call in to an advice line to check? When John was being checked for weight gain when he was a newborn, the doctor told us that she wanted him to at least gain ½ to 1 oz. a day. She didn’t say anything about gaining more, but I’m sure it is fine if babies do that. It will all even out in the end.

Oh and the girls really liked the Spy Museum. I wish I could have gone, but John really needed his naps and I needed to work a lot on the house. Our next excursion into DC will be to the American History Museum at the Smithsonian b/c I think it is closing for renovation in September.

Floridafam – I’m going to go check out the Disney Halloween deals! Thanks for the heads up! :cheer2:

SL – Congrats on the great bargains at Old Navy and Children’s Place! :thumbsup2 Have fun out at dinner tonight!

J&D – I’m sorry to hear that football is taking a lot of time away for you and your dh. :grouphug: Sending warm wishes your way that the football season flies by for you! Have a great time tonight at the surprise party!

DisKim – Both my nephews were biters too. It turns out that once they started to speak more, the biting stopped. They used biting as a form of communication especially when they were frustrated. I hope that Katie gets used to Aidan. I agree with you though that it is hard to reason with a 16 month old. Aidan is such a cutie! Good luck with the shopping today. I hope that you get some deals for Emmy!

Joats – Congrats on Jace’s eye appointment going well. That is wonderful news. That is very sweet of you to send flowers to your parents when they get to London.

As far as burping, we still burp John and he will be ten months old. I don’t remember when I stopped burping the girls. Maybe when they were a year old?

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend! Hi to all the moms!

Floridafam - Thanks for the link to Disney's Halloween deals! I ended up getting the floor mat, wreath and candy bowl! :woohoo: :teeth:

justhat,

I think the Disney costumes are on sale now. Did you try enjoy25 or save30 as codes. I think you can also get free shipping.

J&D,

I'm also a football widow. UGH! DH has tickets to 2 Miami Hurricanes games next week and the week after, then there's NFL and don't forget Fantasy Football-he's already spent 2 nights on his draft for that. :confused3 whatever.

FF, you're right, thanks! I scrapped the shoes and with your code the costume will now be $48, so she can have it. $79 just seemed so insane to me when she'll wear it once. And she's not even allowed to wear it to preschool. That I also think is insane cause it's not like it will detract from the learning of a 2yo, but whatever. And I preorded Cars since she loves it and I didn't have to pay shipping for that either, which surprised me.

Jill, I didn't realize that the museum was closing so soon. We'll have to head out there then too since we've never taken Madison.

When we went to Costco yesterday to look at game stuff, they had a new load of Halloween costumes in- NICE Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore ones, with trick or treat bucker for $18. I didn't look at the sized though...not baby, but maybe preschoolers would fit into them. (I would think so...I doubt too many grade schoolers want to be a Pooh character).

Justhat- I'm so sorry about Henry's diaper rash! That sounds like a doozy- poor little guy! Glad you got a deal on Madison's costume. I haven't ordered yet from Disneyshopping today, but I'm thinking about it still!

SL- great photo! Share your Glamour Shots one!

Gotta go- Molly is up! :moped:

Cabmom- What a great portrait!

Joats- I’m still burping Olivia when she has long feedings, because otherwise she tends to have some reflux. I don’t bother if she’s only eating for a couple of minutes.

I’d post a HS photo, but of course my HS yearbook was packed a few days ago.

SL- I’ve found that the Children’s Place clothes are pretty much on the money for Olivia’s size. She’s wearing their 3-6 month stuff now and it fit perfectly at 4/5 months with a little room to grow.

Well, we’re ready for the Christening (or as ready as we can be). At least we have everything ready except what I’m going to wear. The weather is just awful right now. I was so concerned about the August heat, but it’s quite cool. It will be really nice if we get some sun, but the forecast is for lots of rain. MIL and I went to a balloon store on a recommendation from her neighbor. It was really great in there. They had balloons for EVERYTHING! Balloons that play music and ones that walk and move. I really liked the Pooh ones, but I had to keep that to myself ;)

DBro(3) has decided that he’s afraid of going to WDW now because he’s terrified of fireworks. We’re doing everything we can to show him that WDW is fun! It’s so funny because he used to love watching the planning video and talking about it, but all of a sudden he’s in a tizzy over it. He did, however, say that he wants to be Mickey Mouse when he grows up.

Have to go, we're playing Disney Scene it with my sisters. :lovestruc

I survived another round of back to school shopping. Emily got a ton of stuff at Kohls in the teen section. It was very depressing that she is buying teen clothes. She was really happy and I think she feels confident now. That was my main goal since she is starting a new school and it is such a tough, awkward age. We had a wonderful dinner at IL's but I feel like a pig.

I have to get caught up with this thread. It looks like I'm missing out on some good Disney deals. I have to see what that is all about. DH has homework to do so I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning so he can use the computer.

Have a great evening ladies  .

Hi everyone!

I hope you guys are having a good weekend.

I'm ready for bed and it's only 8:00.

I decided to be a cheapskate today and color my own hair. Big, Huge, mistake! I hate it! It has way too much red in it and ended up too dark. Yuck!

I had a very frustrating experience at Macy's today. The bottom of the receipt asks for feedback, I think they will be getting it from me.

Great pictures Robin and SL!

ginamarie - The balloon store sounds like fun!

justthat - Ouch on the rash! I hope it clears up soon! Score on the costume!

ff - Thanks for posting all of those codes, I love them! I was dissapointed that all of the stuff I wanted on REI, didn't end in the .83, but it was still good to know about!

jill - how cute about the girls calling eachother. My friend has a 10 year old girl and she cracks me up how grown up she talks sometimes.

Do you guys have big state fairs? Our state fair started this week and we are going tomorrow. I'm so excited. I love the state fair. Tomorrow is a grown up only trip and we'll be going back on Thurs. with my parents and Tyler. I got a great work out in and ate like a saint today in prep for all the crap I'm going to eat tomorrow! Chocolate chip cookies, corn on the cob, french fries, corn dogs, ice cream, cheese curds....

Talk to you guys later.

Tamie

Hi, all.

llij - Hope the girls like their teachers this year.

justhat - Glad you got a deal on Madison's costume.

ginamarie - Enjoy Disney Scene It. I hope your brother gets over his fear of fireworks.

tkyes - We have a local fair held at the end of September. It's only 3 days but it's so small you can get through it in one. Last year I entered a photo of Lucas in their contest and won 2nd prize. I have to go through my pictures to see what I can enter this year.

Hope everyone has a great night!

Robin - I graduated in 1987. I'm not sure I want to know if your neighbor knows me - other people tend to remember moments in my life that I have conveniently forgotten. :teeth: I don't think I'll ever be able to drag myself to a high school reunion . . . . . . .

I'm so ambivalent about Costco. It's a love-hate thing. I need the cat food, paper towels, diaper wipes, etc. But I ALSO buy books I won't read for years, muffins that my thighs have no use for and toys for a child who cannot find her bed under the pile of stuffed animals, pretty ponies and plastic dinosaurs.

FF - thanks for the tip! Amazon does indeed have the swaddlers, a nice big box of them and the coupon worked! I have also found that they are best for newborns - especially since the other brands tend to leak. And thanks for the Disney tip - I'm going to make it over there in a few minutes.

Robin - I think that diaper fund is a *great* idea - I am amazed at how much I spend on those things.

Ginamarie - loved the story about your DS and the bras! Those are things that keep us going as parents some days - the fact that we made these people who eventually (if things go as planned) become our friends, with the same values and sense of humor.

FIL moved back on my yuck list today. The short of it is - if he doesn't agree with something, then it's EVIL. He got on his high horse about families with both parents working and what a disservice they are doing their kids. I've done it both ways (me working and not), and both ways are hard for different reasons. But, ack to be so SMUG that one did it the perfect way, it's just infuriating. I'm throwing him in the lake with BnB's MIL. ;)

Justhat - I only have 10 pounds left from THIS pregnancy, but it's all in the grossest spot - thus that tummy tuck I've been ruminating on. I cannot imagine getting anything "fitted" right now except a poncho. Madeleine has days where she eats every 2 hours and seems to want more, too. I never thought about getting an infant scale! That might make me feel like more is being accomplished - instead of worrying that she's starving to death.

A diaper rash tip - I found that the chemicals even in the "alcohol free" wipes are really harsh and made DD's skin break out. So I bought cloth wipes at barefootbaby.com I use the regular wet wipes for a bm, but afteward I wipe her down with a wet cloth wipe. And just use the cloth wipes for urine. My midwives suggested that I use balmex for a rash that I had when I was pregnant and I tell you - it STUNG. I only use Aquaphor or vaseline anymore.

Joats - With my DD5, who was on a bottle at 2 months, I remember sort of tapering off with the burping and forgetting about it when she quit having problems fighting gas. 5 months? My bigger problem is that I cannot get any gas out of a breastfed baby, but her tummy sure knows it's there. I don't know if it's her age, what I'm eating, or the fact that I'm not burping her properly. :confused3

Tamie - NOooooo!!! I've done that a number of times when I was short on time and/or money and it was always, always a bad idea. And I usually stained towels in the process, thus severely cutting into my savings. :teeth:

OMG - Lucas in that Mickey Mouse costume is the other cutest thing I have seen all week. :goodvibes

Help!! I need tips on breastfeeding in public. I don't see how I can do it without my shirt either off or flapping in the breeze and the boppy in my lap and my breast making a public appearance. Some people say they used "blankets" but don't those just slide off the shoulder??

:wave2: :moped:

Fabumouse- My friend's name is Mannix Dizon; since he would have been a lowly freshman when you were a senior, I doubt you knew him. BUT, DH used to be close friends with a guy named Shane Ulrich. I am fairly certain he went to Clackamas HS and graduated somewhere in the realm of 86-88. It's a small world!

Jill- I haven't been to any of my HS reunions. I doubt I will. Most of my closest HS friends went to my church, and we went to different HSs. I remember my church did a high school reunion of like a 6 year span (everyone who graduated from 87-93 or so) and I was SO MAD I couldn't go. It was 4 days after I gave birth to DS#2. (and in CA while I was in OR). Go figure. They haven't done one since.

SL-Could Lucas BE any cuter? Don't think so! He's darling!

Tamie- have fun pigging out tomorrow! Our state fair is going on right now and it's supposed to be really awesome. But I don't think we're going...it's about an hour south of here.

Justhat- I cannot imagine getting fitted for a bridesmaid dress right now either. You are a VERY good friend you know that?

Kim- So glad you had a better shopping day today with Emmy. I hope you are feeling better too- you mentioned you weren't happy the other day. We all have times like that; if you need to vent, we're here.

GM- By any chance are the DISNEY PIXAR CARS in the new parade at MGM? I feel like I read they lead off the afternoon parade, but maybe I am mixing that up with Disneyland. Maybe you can talk to DBro about seeing his favorite DISNEY PIXAR CARRS at WDW and try and steer him away from fireworks talk.

Hope you are having fun playing Scene it! I got it two years ago and NO ONE has played it with me except my children. And sometimes they aren't too swift. Sam would actually probably be good to play it with now, but Josh still isn't board game capable most of the time, unless it's really easy.

We had kind of a ho-hum day. It started off fun shopping quickly at Crate and Barrel for a new salt grinder and some measuring cups. Whoopee! The kids were farts and wouldn't let us look for more than 3 seconds at anything and I was PARANOID one of them would knock down an entire glass display. Then I checked out a fancy stationary store for baby shower invitations. Found TDF boy ones, but no good girl ones. I did see I game I must go back and buy (DH took off with the stroller with my wallet in it). It was this plastic gun/sling shot thing, with 3-4 little, tiny plastic babies. It had a target on the back of the packaging. Each guest gets a turn shooting the baby into the Target- whoever is closest, wins! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I was dying- finally, a game I had never seen! Then I searched online for invitations and plates, etc....I found some I want, but man, the website charges a MINT for shipping. For 2 packs of invitations, 1 set of napkins and 1 small banner, it's $15.xx....but $7.17 for shipping! For paper! Little paper! But I LOVE them. I will post a link later....I can't find this theme anywhere else online...I think I will check Party City before I order.

Anyway, we went to lunch at Red Lobster wtih my parents. It's been PS2 day here. I MADE the boys go play outside for an hour or two. Thank goodness school starts soon! But, hey, they're quiet! :teeth:

That's about all I know. Tomorrow we are going to a company picnic in the afternoon & evening. Then our BED comes on MONDAY! YAY! YIPPEE! WAHOO! I bought new sheets for it awhile ago, but may have to order a new comforter or duvet cover for our ratty old one. Got any codes FF or J&D? :teeth:
