Thank you Vald! That was soooo much easier than the way I've been working with photos. We're back from the heel prick. Today was his 14th stick and hopefully the last. He didn't scream as much as usual. Sorta made me feel bad, like he's immune to the pain now. The phlebotomists even feel bad for him and they were checking his heels today to see which one has been stuck less since he's been there so much.

Well hopefully we're done with that now, but I guess we won't really know till his dr calls. The dr he's been going to is one Madison has never really seen, but I really like her a lot. There are I think 6 peds in the practice and Madison has mostly seen 2, and I really like them, but supposedly they were booked for his 1st check up (though I saw one of them sitting around doing nothing so not sure how true that was). The group works with Children's National Medical Center, which is a teaching hospital, so there are always a few residents too. So when we got to the office for his first visit they asked who I wanted to see and I said any attending would be fine. Not that I have anything again residents, but I might as well stay home if that's who I'm going to see cause they're not much more experienced than Joey. So they gave me this dr and she has really gone out of her way to help us. She calls us the moment she gets his labwork in, even when it's 11pm. And she's had us come in so much, but rather than make appts and pay for each visit she just sends us to the nurse station, has us say she called and wants to see us, then she basically does each exam free. She even goes up to the lab to be sure they get his blood sent out immediately. Very unexpected in a city where it seems like no one is in a hurry to get anything done. They even told me to walk to the car myself when I was discharged from the hospital. I was more than capable, but really, isn't that just the norm to wheel patients out?

I should go do something cause my husband will be home in an hour or so and then want to sleep till 7pm so I know I won't be able to accomplish much then since I'll have to focus on keeping Madison somewhat quiet.

ETA: I forgot to say that since the AP rates came our for November my husband booked our rooms. I now know that he is officially insane cause he must think we have an endless supply of money. He booked a gv room at the GF for 11/1-4 and then CR concierge 11/7-10. I just stared at him in amazement and shock when he told me. He originally had us in the GF and then WL, but he had the dates wrong (had us checking out the 12th, which is Henry's christening in NJ, as you can see he's so interested in that event that he didn't even know the date  ) so when he called back they had CR, but only concierge available with the AP rate. Of course it's more than rack would be in a regular room.... He said "How many chances will we have to do this?" I don't know, I'm guessing at least 1 more in the future though. Both resorts are his 2 favorites (WL was my pick but that was thrown out). Honestly I could care less where I stay as long as I'm going, but the GF wouldn't have been my 1st choice. He said they also had the Poly then but he hates the decor so he chose GF. CR I like for its location and room size though. I guess the only upside is that our VB days will be weekdays so we can rent points and only spend $80/night. I guess I won't complain though cause it's the first time he's ever wanted to be extravagant with anything other than electronics so I should take advantage of his lapse in judgement. Just means we'll be paying for it for a long time!

Gems - a friend of mine had that happen with her baby and it turned out the baby was allergic to something that the mother was eating, I want to say whey protien? I am not sure but once the mom change dher eating that offending protien the blood stopped. Prayers for your niece.

Justhat - Love the pic of your bumblebees. And the alligator cracks me up, I think that is so cute how Madison has taken to that animal. And I am envious of your trip your DH has planned! That is going to be some trip.

Vald - good wishes coming your way that things go your way today!

Hillbeans- have a great trip!

Have a good day everybody. :p

justthat - Your trip sounds great. I'd like to stay at both GF and CR, but DH would never stay at GF. He thinks it too fancy for him. He has this thing about "fancy" places. I'm glad Henry didn't cry too much today.

gems - Enjoy your time inside. We haven't had a good storm here in ages and we could really use one. :goodvibes for your DN. I hope it's nothing serious.

Ginamarie - Good luck with the sofa recovering!

Jimmy is watching Sesame Street. Can I just say that I won't miss Nick Jr. or SS once school starts. I know these shows are educational and it's much better for him than that garbage on Cartoon Network, but I'm so tired of them. I don't know how my dad does it all day.

We sent the mortgage application to the bank and DH is stopping there on his way home from work. I really hope this doesn't take too long. I know our home has to be appraised, but I don't know how long that takes. Our contractor needs 2 weeks heads up to order the materials he needs to start.

ryan,

Sending prayers for your Grandma :grouphug:

I'm so behind. Another Mom and I took the kids to a play place today and we got lost and ended up in Palm Beach County, which is quite far from here. Ugh, I never get lost.

My parents got back from Memphis the other day. They said it was a very draining trip. The Dr. was at the deposition and he is still practicing medicine!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH again! I guess he is testifying against some other Dr. in Ohio that was in this with him so he got to keep his license. I have no idea how things will turn out. They are exhausted. Thank you all for your prayers.

justhat,

Did you say that you are coming to Vero Beach??? If you want to have a mini mom's meet just let me know. No pressure, though. I know how hard it can be to schedule anything on vacation with little ones-especially meeting a total stranger.

Dh has his Ironman in November. We still aren't sure if we are going with him or not. It's such a long drive over to Panama City Beach from here.

School orientation went well. My DD's teacher is going to have a baby in January so she was pretty excited about that.

I'm going to get caught up and I'll be back later. Dh is on his way home with his computer. I'm so glad we didn't have to buy a new one even though I think he would LOVE that!

Take care. :wave2:

Just have a minute but I wanted to pop in to tell you all I got the job :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc :woohoo: :dance3: :bounce: !

I'll be starting Monday. It's 32 hours a week, 9-2 three days a week and 9-5:30 two days a week. No weekends except in December there will be a couple of Saturdays. I'm so excited!

Just a quick update on my DN, my brother called to say that she is being transferred from the hospital that they are at to the Children's Hospital and they are going to keep her there over the weekend and operate on her either Monday or Tuesday. Basically the problem is that her bowel has got a pouch in it which means that whatever she eats doesn't all go through her and some stays inside and that's what causes the bleeding. He did tell me the proper name for the condition but I can't remember what it was - very complicated though!

I think that my brother and his wife are going out of their minds - which I can't blame them for, I am just praying that she is ok they waited so long for a little girl and went through so much that this is just awful.

/
Val - CONGRATULATIONS!! I just saw your post! That's great news! :dance3:

T16GEM,

Oh my goodness. That sounds exactly what my DD had. She had Meckel's Diverticulum.

She had blood in her diapers as a baby and we were told she was just constipated and not to worry.

She developed a life threatening problem when she was 5 and that is when they found the Meckels.

Could this be what she has? I guess it is a pouch that hangs off the intestine.

I'm sending prayers your way. I guess it can be removed surgically and not result in any more problems later in life.

Please keep us posted. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Val--Congrats on the job! The hours sound perfect--not too much, and the extra weekend work around the holidays will only mean extra $ for Christmas presents. Of course, if I had that job, I'd weigh 600 pounds from all the "sampling" I would do.

justthat--your trip plans sounds great! Maybe DH thinks that, because he's working all those hours these days, that he's getting paid like a "real" doctor? Ah well, some day he will. And I'm sure your trip will be lovely. Henry's surgery sounds awful. The good news is, he won't remember a thing--unfortunately, you'll remember it forever. But for now, just concentrate on getting him big and healthy and don't worry too much about the future.

Hiallary--I know what you're going through. Aside from losing my mom this year, I lost my dad in 1994, and I still miss him terribly. We were very, very close, and he had told me his one regret in life was that he never had grandchildren. He died when I was 12 weeks pregnant with Jocelyn. The real irony is, if could have picked a grandchild out of a catalog, she would be it. He would have loved them all, but she would have been the love of his life. She was an unexpected pregnancy, and I truly look at her as the gift he wanted me to have. It does get a little easier as the years pass, but don't apologize to anyone if you're not yourself today. You're entitled to grieve.

SL--I think pirates will be done to death this year. You might want to just wait and see what comes out--you really don't need much of anything for the little ones (although I go all-out every year with costume making, but not everyone has the time or inclination!). And don't be afraid to check Family Fun or Parents magazines--they usually have simple but cute costumes, like spaghetti and meatballs, kid in the bathtub, etc. Our elementary school has a huge parade, and I love looking at all the costumes. I would think Peter Pan would be easy (green tights and a green t-shirt, cut into points at the bottom). I don't know--he's so cute, he's going to just enhance any costume you get!

We went to the zoo today--I had been thinking of putting it off, but with a ton of packing next week, and 2 doctor appointments, and DH working 12 hour days, and Jocelyn having dance camp...well, you get the picture! Anyway, I really hate treating the zoo like "one more thing on the to do list", since it's really lovely. We had a nice time--they had pig races, a petting area, and the safari ride which they're expanding. It has camels, zebra, pigs, etc. in it. The make-up changes a little every year--no bears this year, or bison, and only one big cat (tiger). Still, it's very nice--the animals are all pets of the owner, and they hand raise the big cats from just a couple days old. You can just feel the love they have for all the animals there.

Oops, party's over here--"hi" to everyone I missed!

Aw Gems, prayers said for your niece. That sounds very scary and I will pray her surgery goes smoothly. :grouphug:

Val- CONGRATULATIONS! That is absolutely wonderful! :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc :cool1: :dance3:

lissawynn- great idea on the Florida tourist costume. I love it!

BNB- glad you got to go to the zoo today. I have considered certain outings like that with the kids kind of like a to-do list too. But once we're there it's fun. We're trying to decide what to do their last week before school starts, as we have no plans that week.

FF- I'm sorry the trip for your parents did not go well; I cannot believe that doctor is still practicing. :guilty:

justhat- again, I'm repeating myself lately, SO JEALOUS of your trip! WOW on the resorts your DH chose! You will be so convenient to the MK, which you obviously know, but so great with the little ones. Have fun planning!

We just got some questionnaire from Wells Fargo, who holds our mortgage. I entered us in a contest to get 6 months of our mortgage paid for us, which would be about $5400....I would so put that to a fully paid trip to WDW--- full package at either WL, Poly or BC. :teeth: Yeah, right. Me thinks if we even won that, it would be going for Hawaii, which would be fine. All the more sooner we could save for Disney.

Hillbeans - I am sure you are on your way to the shore...but I wanted to post about your moms anniversary yesterday. You and I have "talked" about this before. Like you said, you get used to not having her around. It has been 8 years for me and the first few were the hardest. At around 5 years, I actually started forgetting the date, if you can believe that....but I blame that on mommy brain.
Mom never got to see my kids either, but I have to say (without coming across as odd) that I feel her presence with me very strongly at times so I know she "sees" them. It does hurt though, she never got to see them and hold them because like BNB said, my mom would have adored my kids.
I came to the realization years ago that I should be thankful for having her in my life as long as I did. Even though she died 2 months before my 30th birthday, I was lucky to have her for a mom...some never get so lucky at all in their lifetimes.
I hope that you had a great time at the shore. :grouphug:

Hillbeans,

I'm so sorry about your Mom. Anniversaries are tough :grouphug: :grouphug: I hope you know that she is with you.

My kids used to ask why everyone couldn't live forever after my brothers died. I told them I didn't know. I wish everyone could live forever.

Hugs to you. :grouphug:

val,

Congratulations on the job!!!! :Pinkbounc  Let us know how it goes. Best of luck to you. :thumbsup2

What is everyone doing tonight? I think we are going to try and watch a movie.

Take care.

FF - we are going to watch a movie too, "RV" - my in-laws buy DVD's every week and this is one they got so DH just went to their house to get it....they live 8 houses down.
What movie are you going to watch? By the way thanks for the tip about Bankers Insurance on the Budget Board. Like someone said they are not writing in our area.
I am so down about this whole thing. Like someone said there on that thread, it is getting so unaffordable to live here anymore. We have a nothing house, old, boring, small. They want $3800 a year for our homeowners insurance. The taxes are creeping up too. Put it this way, only $110 a month of our mortgage payment goes to principal. I am seriously thinking we need to move out of State. :guilty:

Have a good night and enjoy the movie!

Hi everyone. We're watching a movie, too. Mr. & Mrs. Smith. We never saw it so we're taking advantage of On Demand. I also mopped the kitchen floor - how's that for a fun Friday night activity?

Gem - :grouphug: Sending good thoughts for your niece!

val - Congratulations! The job sounds great!

lissawynn - I like your tourist costume idea, too! My SIL brought Lucas a hideous Hawaiian shirt back from her honeymoon. It would be perfect. Tough decision now.

ginamarie - How did the couch covering go?

justhat - Enjoy your deluxes and concierge! I wouldn't mind staying concierge just once.

zalansky -

J&D - Thanks for the links. I'll check them out tonight.

floridafam - I can't believe that Dr is still practicing!! :furious: I hope your computer is back to normal.

BnB - Glad you enjoyed your trip to the zoo.

Alice28 - Good luck with the contest. :thumbsup2

Hillbeans - :grouphug: I'm sorry about your mom.

tkyes - What your SIL did sounds like something my sister would do. She's a very jealous person. I just  .

glt - :grouphug:

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Everyone,

I'm just finalizing my packing and the baby was so cranky tonight (teeth?) so this will need to be quick!

I know I have lots of Thank You's to give out for everyone thinking about my mom, so Thanks! Loretta - you were young when you lost your mom, and it's hard because sometimes no one understands a situation better than your mom would.

Buzznbelle - I'm so sorry that you lost both of your parents also. The story you gave about jocelyn was very touching - and i'm sure he would have just loved her.

Justine - you were even younger when you lost your father, i'm so sorry. I didn't realize how many of us here have lost our parents young. My mom was 66, but your father must have been half that age. Hugs to you :grouphug:

Floridafam- i'm sorry to hear about your parents and that doctor should never practice medicine again!

Gem - I will say a prayer for your Niece.

Well, that's all I have time for today - by the time I get back online i'll be really, really far behind. My husband is bringing his laptop so mabye i'll pop in at some point but then again maybe not!

Have a great week everyone!!!

tkyes,

I wanted to mention that www.babystyle.com has some cute play tents under their toy section.

I know you mentioned maybe getting one for Tyler.

I think you can use the coupon code cusoon for $15 off a $75 purchase.

:sunny:

The MyPoints backpack is in Back to School today.

Valerie- Congrats on getting the job!!! :cheer2: Jenna's cheerleading outfit arrived yesterday, and I am bummed out about it. It wasn't in great condition like the seller had described. I had e-mailed the seller asking about the condition before I bid on it because in the picture it looked like it had a hole in it. The seller e-mailed me back and said that is was in great condition with no stains or tears and that what I saw was a glare spot. Well, the turtleneck that goes under the outfit had three holes in it. I e-mailed the seller, and she agreed to let me keep the outfit since I still wanted it and issued me a partial refund. I was very pleased with the compromise and left her very positive feedback that did not even mention that the item wasn't as described, and she hasn't left me feedback. I think she doesn't believe me. I know what it feels like to be scammed, and I would never scam anyone else. She has left feedback for the buyers that left her feedback at the same time as I did, so I don't think she forgot. I was trying to build my feedback rating up so I can start selling, but I think I'm just going to give up on buying and selling on e-bay. I know most of you probably think I'm making a big deal out of nothing since she gave me a partial refund and didn't leave me negative feedback, so sorry for the vent. I'm just feeling that e-bay may be more trouble than it is worth. Glad most of you have had success there.

Hillbeans, Loretta, BnBM, and justhat- Losing a loved one is tough. I helped my mom take care of my grandma while she battled cancer, and it takes an emotion toll on everyone. I try to take comfort in knowing that she is not longer in pain and is in a much better place. Hugs! :grouphug:

Gems- Prayers for your niece!

lissawynn- Hope you are feeling better.

Have a great weekend, everyone! TTFN!

Justhat- Wow, it sounds like you’ll be doing WDW in style. Enjoy it! Your DH may not want to do it again after the bills come in.

J&D- Cute costumes!

Val- Congrats on the job!!!

Gems- Oh gosh, I’ll be praying for your little niece. It’s good that they’ve figured out what’s wrong though, so that they can fix it.

Zalansky- I know what you mean about the houses being unaffordable. I’m still not sure how we’re going to pay our bills next month. Never in a million years did I think our house (a basic starter house really) would cost close to a half a million dollars. It seems like while everything else went up in price a little bit over the last 20 years, house prices REALLY skyrocketed.

SL- I haven’t seen Mr. & Mrs. Smith yet either. I have so little time for movies these days. I’m still about a week behind on watching General Hospital.

The couch covering was giving me a headache today. Grandma was ready to give up the whole project for awhile, but I had to talk her out of it. So one couch cushion was completed. This is going to take a LONG time. It’s a complicated couch, because it has oddly shaped cushions, and the backrests have two cushions to cover too. I still love the material we picked though.

Gosh, it’s 11 pm and I really have the munchies. I know I’ve put on a few pounds in the last month or two, and I’m afraid that I’m going to slip into a groove where I put back all the weight I lost. Must—not---eat---ice cream!!

Ginamarie- I know what you mean about ice cream. I'm addicted to it!
I think you should get Olivia the Baby Belle costume. I wish it came it a toddler size so I could get it for Jenna.

SL- Here are some adult tacky tourist costume sets on sale if you go with that theme.

Here is a costume to match Lucas' good looks. Remember Antonio Banderas as Zorro?

Wasn't there someone on here (lissawynn?) whose DS likes Dragontales? Here is a costume for $9.99.
