The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

Not open for further replies.
We just got our DVC package in the mail yesterday. It is pretty cool. I think we are going to hang the print in the upstairs hallway (lots of Disney stuff already.)

I hadn't heard about the AKL announcements until I read this thread. I personally am surprised. I thought it would be Con 1st (and kind of wish it was.)

I just went to trader Joes. It was almost overwelming. The idea of all the foods we could try again.

I am starting slow. Progies and some chocolate covered pretzels. :Pinkbounc

Good afternoon ladies! :sunny:

Well, my day just went downhill quickly when I fell and sprained my ankle. :sad2: I went to go meet the girls at the bus stop and my ankle went one way and I went the other. Of course, it is the ankle that I have badly sprained in the past so it is very weak. I just have to laugh b/c if I don't I will cry. Hauling John around while I'm 'gimping' is quite the sight to behold. Just call me gimpy!! :rotfl2:

Cabmom - Dean is such a cutie!!! Let me know how you like Great Wolf Lodge. We've got one a few hours from here and I've always wanted to try it.

Hillbeans - Have a great time at the concert! :cloud9:

Robin - Awwww....I feel so bad for you with the mood swings and the waiting for Aunt Flo. PMS is the absolute worst! I pray that your AF comes very soon so you can get into a regular cycle. :wizard: BTW, Molly sounds like such a cutie!

SL - Good luck with the class selections! When they accepted you to the program did they send you a course work list? How many classes are you going to take?

BNBmom - Sorry that your dh has been stressed out lately. How long are the long work hours going to last?

Zalansky and Nucpharm - My neighbor belongs to DVC and she ran over to tell me today (after I picked my sorry body up off the ground) to tell me about some special with DVC. I'm totally kicking myself for not buying into it 3 years ago. AKL sounds like a great place to stay too!

Dizagain - Snow? Yikes!!

DisneyPhD - What wonderful news about Lily and her allergies! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Ginamarie - I'm always so sad on the day I leave WDW too! I look at all the happy people checking into the hotel or arriving at the airport and it makes me so blue.

Justhat - I hope that you get some rest tonight! I'm so glad the Henry will not need RSV shots! That was such a nightmare last year with John's shots.

DisKim - I hope Aidan feels better soon!

Hi to Tamie, Val, Joats, GLT, J&D, Tasha, Ryan840, Poohangel, Fabumouse and everyone!

I spoke with my mom and sister today. My mom and I can 'gimp' along side each other since she still can't walk. In all seriousness though, a doctor she saw yesterday thinks it might be tendonitis. She will know more when she sees the orthopedist tomorrow. My sister is doing better. Based on her tests, there is definitely inflammation in her intestines (sorry TMI), but after the biopsy they are thinking it might not be Crohn's or Celiac's disease. They are puzzled though b/c something is going on.

I better get back to John. Everyone have a great evening! :wave2:

Alice--here's what it looks like--I had to take the pic at an angle b/c of the glare.
PA130002_edited.jpg

Sorry to hear about the mood swings--I took Depo for a while after Emma was born and hated every single minute of it--however I did manage to live to tell the tale!

Jill--OMG!!! You poor thing! Hugs and prayers to you that you don't have to "gimp" for too long! What a terrible thing to have happen! :grouphug:

DisneyPhD--Congrats on Lilly's allergies! :cheer2: What a relief that must be for you!

Tamie--Just to let you know, Emma is now carrying her bucket around the house saying "Trick or Treat for everyone!" :goodvibes Thanks again!

Well Henry is not dealing well with his shots and has been crying pretty consistently since 1pm and Madison is crying cause I said she may not use real toothpaste to brush Nick's teeth. What a pleasant afternoon! I wish I could stick them both in bed now and have a moment to myself. I think being alone with them all those days in Phoenix and now that I'm home since my husband won't be home till tomorrow (then sleep all afternoon on the couch and complain that Madison's waking him up) I'm going a bit crazy. Not that he's this big help anyway, but some help is better than none.

In my attempt to continue catching up-DisKim, we had a super pushy DVC salesman too and that was probably why we didn't buy. We had him again this past March when we went to another presentation cause we were thinking about it again (1st time was 1/03) and again he did the "you must buy within 3 days" thing. I hope your aunt is doing well.

Ryan840, what are your DL dates? Do you have set dates yet? We're going next November the 3-8 with another one of my mom's conventions. Those days are booking up already cause of the convention, though we were able to get 2 rooms at the GC for my mom and the annoying work friends over the phone. The website showed no availability though. Oh, and the 3 times we've been there we've flown into John Wayne/Orange County airport and it's only about a 15 minute drive.

Well Madison is crying again cause I made her get off the couch cause she was falling asleep. Guess I'll get her dinner and into bed right after. At least I'll have 1 down then!

Well the snow was just flurries, luckily, but enough to get the kids asking "when's Christmas?" :rotfl: It was 32 degrees at the pumpkin farm this a.m., brrrr. luckily they also had a heated indoor spot, so that was good!

SL - love the latest batch of photos! Tell Lucas that MP is my favorite too!

Robin, SL -- So I gather the little ones can't go on Soarin'? I didn't know. How old/biey have to be for that one, as I really want to do it the next time and now think that Leif will be too small :sad2: As of right now I'd still be going alone...so no baby swap for me.

ugh, wanted to catch up, but Leif won't let me be, try again later;

I believe 40" is how tall they need to be for Soarin. When do you think you will go again? I know my oldest was 40" by about 3 1/2 or so. My second was closer to 4 when he was that tall. Molly is already 32" so maybe she will be 3 and be able to go on the big rides....Doubt it. My kids seem to be giants up until about age 2 or so, and then they slow down to average rate.

Jill- I am SO SORRY you turned your ankle! So NOT what you need right now. Reminds me of when I torked my knee out last Thanksgiving- I had so much I needed to do and I had no choice but to slow down. I'm glad your sister doesn't have Crohn's or Celiacs. I know this is personal, but does your sister have any history of eating disorders? I know my friend struggled with bulimia and it triggered a lot of her intestinal problems. :guilty:

nucpharm- that print is so cute! I guess I don't need it though. I still haven't hung up the Disney prints I have in Molly's room....they're just sitting on the top of her bookcase. What fun for you all to be DVC owners! Luckies!

Justhat- I'm sorry Henry isn't feeling well. I hope after some sleep tonight he will feel better tomorrow. And YAY for no RSV shots! That's very good news!

BNB- I'm sorry your DH is being snippy at home. My DH has been a bit the same- just a lot of stuff is going on at work, and while it's all positive for him, it's stressful for others and he often comes home antsy or irritated.

I got almost all the laundry put away. One load to go. And I did my exercise....just need to put some dishes away now. I'm glad tonight is another fun night of TV....I think I'm going to watch Grey's tonight instead of CSI. I love CSI but I'm irritated that they haven't wrapped up a storyline from a couple weeks ago- their writing style is different this season....it's still interesting, but I saw that preview that hints Meredith may be pregnant! Who are the options of the Daddy? McDreamy? McSteamy? And didn't she do the deed with that other intern late last season? (I'm forgetting his name)...

Hi All!

Have a quick minute - DH will be late and since the girls just got home at 5 and had a little snack we'll wait until 7 for dinner. Hayley's baking brownies, Hannah's glued to Zack and Cody on tv, and Carson's still sleeping away in the carseat. He needs to - after sleeping all day yesterday, he's been up most of today with cat naps again. Haven't asked DH about his "meeting" with the bosses yet - he hasn't mentioned it, so I'll wait for him to share. I hate that. Our snow was really heavy at times - like I couldn't see out the window - but it eventually all melted away. Good.

Alice28 - I got a lot of laundry done today too, but as usual it's sitting in the baskets downstairs...lots of good that will do when the girls tear through it looking for pants for tomorrow. Oh and I am a HUGE Wiggles (well, Anthony, anyway ;) ) fan. Hannah was just barely young enough to get in on them when they started the show in the US and we saw them once (Anthony had an emergency appendicitis and wasn't there...grrr). Anyway, your story about Molly made me smile and I just cannot wait until I can introduce Carson to them!!! :grouphug: to you and hope your mood swings improve!!!

GLT - The snow was fun to look at coming down, wasn't it? I know what you mean about the kids getting excited - Hannah was mad because she had thought she'd be in snow pants by now!

Justhat - So sorry Henry is hurting and cranky. I'm dreading that next week. I remembered giving my DD's tylenol before shot appts. and when I asked my doctor here last month she acted like I was insane for wanting to do that. :confused3 So how much did you give him? I have no idea.

Jill - Sorry to hear about your poor ankle - take it easy or at least try to!

cabmom - such a cute picture! I'd love to hear about your trip to Great Wolf - we always talk about going.

BuzznBelle - sorry your DH is being a pain. They do that. Mine was awful last night too...the furnace guy had just left (with a nice check from us) and the downstairs toilet totally clogged. He just exploded and got mad at the last one in there who happened to be Hannah. He said she should have told him, but she honestly didn't know. What he doesn't seem to know (men are way to un-observant) is that Hannah is scared of toilet flushing - her whole life she opens the door, flushes, and runs!!!! So she wouldn't know if her flush was successful or not. Anyhoo - he was a pain and decided to grouch about lots of little stuff. Luckily he realized he was being a jerk and apologized to everyone. Wish I could have some of that apple pie!!!

SL - WHAT AWESOME PICTURES!!!! And that steak only made me hungry for my favorite place - LeCellier! Sounds like you had a great time! Carson will be either 27 months or almost 3 when we go again and I just can't wait - seems like forever.

Fabumouse - That lady was a royal pain and if I were you, I wouldn't lose any sleep over not being on her "nice" list. Doesn't sound like a fun list to be on!

Ok, I know there was more I read and wanted to respond to, but the page ran out and I can't remember everything. Oh well, hi to everyone I missed
and have a great evening - almost the weekend!

Wow, the news about DVC at AKL is exciting. Maybe I'll be enticed to buy there. AKL is my one of my favorite resorts. I certainly will at least want to rent points there.

Jill - I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle. I hope you and your mom feel better soon.

dizagain - It is so strange to hear you talking about snow already! I'm actually looking forward to winter. I say that now, but in February I'll be ready to see it go.

GLT - Yes, Soarin has a height requirement. It will probably be a couple of years before Leif is big enough to reach it. Hey, you never know, one of us moms is sure to be there when you are.

justhat - I'm right there with you. I'm alone with the kids tonight too. Luckily, Aidan went to bed already and Emmy and Alex are being good. I hope the kids go to bed early for you :wizard: .

Robin - I think Albuterol is put in nebulizers but I'm not sure. Aidan just has it in a liquid form.

SL - Your pictures are so awesome! They make me want to go back! It looks like Lucas had a good time and I just love the t-shirt you made him.

I tood Aidan to the doctor this afternoon and he said Aidan has the beginning of Croup. I was doing the right thing by giving him Albuterol. That's really all I can do for him. I swear I should just become and MD myself. I'm getting pretty good at knowing what is wrong with the kids.

I'm hoping my exchange pal got her package from me. I sent it a long time ago but I haven't seen her post that she got it. I'm getting nervous that it didn't get there.

To those of you that asked about my aunt - she is still in the hospital. She is supposed to be released tomorrow. They are running all kinds of tests on her, so hopefully they will figure it out and she'll feel better.

Well, I have to go help Emmy study her spelling.

Thank you all for the anniversary wishes. DH is such a love. He got me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and sweet card. He even got a card from Jace for Mommy and Daddy. It was a very nice surprise. I feel very lucky and very blessed to have met and married him. He's out getting take out at the moment for us. We will go out for a nice dinner alone on saturday night. Tonight is just take out and TIVO catch up.

I feel asleep too early last night thanks to my dosage of Jace's benadryl. I missed 3/4 of LOST!!! I'll have to watch tonight. My hives were gone all day until tonight. I'm itching like crazy again. It has to be something I'm doing in the afternoon or something in this house or in the yard. It's making me crazy. DH is not itchy at all - just me. My face, stomach, legs, arms, chin, scalp... so bizarre.

Anyway, I can't post much as DH should be home any minute. Quickly, and I apologize for missing a lot of you.
Jill: OMG! You poor thing, as if you haven't been dealing with enough these days.
SL: Welcome back! Keep the pics coming - they are wonderful!
DisKim: SOrry to hear Aidan is sick. Hope he is on the mend soon.

I can't believe how many of you already have snow!!! It was low 70's and pretty nice most of the day. I am ready for fall - give me sweatshirts and jeans any day (although I'll wear sandals until it snows), but snow is not something I'm ready for.

DisneyPhD: Good news!!!! Happy shopping (and eating!).
Cabmom: Love Dean's photo!
Nucpharm: Your allergic reactions sound awful. What a doofus Dr. with his comment!! As if!
BNB: "Dictator Tot" :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:
Hillbeans: Have fun with  Nick!

Uh-Oh, DH is back...gotta run.
Have a good night!
:)

They were both asleep by 7:30 so that's a relief! Of course before she fell asleep Madison had to pee on the kitchen floor and then rip off one of Henry's bandaids. I was kind of annoyed at the potty incident cause I had just asked her about the potty less than 5 minutes before she peed. I'm attributing these potty accidents to adjusting to life with a brother cause she was accident free for months after training. Hopefully it ends soon.

I'm baking some peanut butter cookies so I plan to read the rest of the posts while I snack. Great way to get rid of those 2 pounds I gained back. ;)

Good evening ladies!

I totally forgot that I had to be at Katie's classroom tonight for reading night. Ugh. I 'gimped' the whole way there and back. Thankfully, I have a nice ankle brace that allows me to walk without too much pain. I'm such a clutz!

Robin - No, you aren't being too personal at all asking about my sister and eating disorders. She actually has a terrible fungal infection throughout her system and has many allergies to foods. The fungal infection could be triggering her intestinal problems. We have colitis in our family too. My sister currently is under the care of a few doctors who specialize in fungal infections but the gastro stuff has gotten bad in the past 5 or 6 months. But, saying that, my sister is in what I would call a bad marriage and is under an extreme amount of stress. I have wondered at times if her husband has made a few cracks about her appearance. I'm not 100% sure, but anytime I hear about things that are going on in her house or if I see something my red flags go off. Anyways, enough about that....it is a sad situation. I appreciate you asking about her.

GLT - Brrrr......the pumpkin patch sounded chilly!!

Justhat - I hope you get some peace and quiet tonight! Once things settle down for us both, I want to take you out for a drink so you can have some 'down' time.

Joats - Your dh is such a sweetie! Happy Anniversary!

DisKim - I think you should be a doctor too! :thumbsup2 Your instincts with your kids is always right on the money!

Nucpharm - That DVC print is very pretty! :thumbsup2

Dizagain - I think I missed one of your posts about your dh. Is something going at work with him? I hope that everything is ok!

Hillbeans - I forgot to answer your ? about golfing. My dh loves to golf! I've always said that he should golf at Disney, but he has never taking me up on it. Maybe he will at the mom's meet! That would be great!

I forgot to say "Hi" to Gems earlier! Gems, I hope all is well with you!!! :wave2:

Hi to Lissawynn too! How did your appointment go yesterday?

Well, I'm going to get my tired 'old geezer' body up to bed! Everyone have a great evening! All of you moms who are getting snow, keep warm!

justhat - I'm glad the kids went to bed early for you. It sounds like Madison is probably acting out for attention. Welcome to my world. No matter how hard you try, they still like to test us when we bring a new baby home. She'll work it out soon.

Jill - You are superwoman. I just cracked up at the image of you gimping over to your daughter's school. Nothing stops you!! I really hope your ankle doesn't give you trouble for too long. I sprained my ankle once and it took forever to heal.

I'm feeling guilty because I didn't exercise tonight and I really have no excuse since Aidan went to bed at 7. I exercised yesterday though :thumbsup2 . I'm just so darn tired today. It's tough getting up at 5 am and basically being on my feet until 8pm or so. Hopefully, I can keep up with my 3 nights a week goal, but I'm not too sure I can.

Hi ladies. I've been busy most of the afternoon and evening with Lucas and of course realized something may be wrong after the dr office closed. Does anyone have any ideas of what this might be and what we can do? Lucas has had diarrhea all day and started breaking out in a rash on his face, arms, and legs. I can't think of a single food he had that is out of the ordinary (and no peaches). Does it sound like hand, foot, and mouth or something like that? He has no fever and is in good spirits unless he has a diarrhea episode b/c it burns his skin. I can't call the dr until 9 tomorrow morning so I just thought I'd ask you more experienced moms.

Hope everyone is having a good evening.

llij - sorry about your ankle. :guilty:

Evenin' lovely ladies. :surfweb:

Madeleine got her first vaccinations today. I gave her tylenol beforehand. I still hated it - it's so awful! The only thing that really helps me get through it is to read through my parenting books and remind myself of how important they are. It helps me feel like less of a traitor.

Joats - I think it's great that you enjoy Goofy's Barnstormer. I find it disappointing - it's way too short. Madeleine was also a WDW souvenier. That place is magical. :teeth: Happy Anniversary!!

Thanks everyone for the concern over that woman and her pushy car - my daughter goes to a very small school district, so I'm sure I'll be seeing her.

Robin - really - thank you for the vet story. That is *exactly* what I'm afraid of and it helps to hear that I can and should just call the next vet on the list. I mean, I cannot leave her on a shelter's doorstep with good conscience, as they'll never be able to place her, and what am I supposed to do except take her to a vet? (insert gruesome drowning scene here  ) and I also don't mean to be cruel in any way, but I would rather (and do) donate money to the local animal shelter than spend a silly amount of money trying to determine what bizarre GP condition she has.

I am sorry about your night with Molly - we've had a bunch of those lately and I keep trying to blame it on "something I ate", but it's probably just a baby thing for us and a little kid thing for you. Kailey kept us up a LOT until she was about 3.5 years old.

Jill - hope you get your placement soon. :sunny:

SL - I'm sorry you hated Crystal Palace! It's my favorite character breakfast. But I don't care nearly as much for Chef Mickey's. ;) I keep hearing such wildly different stories about MNSSHP - some people say the walked onto all the rides and had no problems getting around, other say it was a nightmare. What night of the week did you go??? Loved the photos - you look like such a happy family!!! :cheer2:

Did you get the button (for the first trip to WDW) on main street or somewhere else?

GLT - actually, the other girl (who is also 5) started crying because she missed her dad and she got picked up early from the playdate. I've never had that happen.

Tasha - there have been a number of times where my life has felt very out of control - I'm crossing my fingers for you that some of it gets sorted out soon.

Dizagain - I cannot believe it's snowing there!! We had something like 76 degrees today.

My computer wants to shut itself down, so I must let it go here because I'm sure it will do it without my permission soon.

Hey...a quickie

SL - Perhaps Fifths Disease? DD's had it several years ago and it was as you described. Their cheeks always looked like they were slapped and their arms and legs got redish splotches that got aggrivated in excercise or warmth. Nothing you can do at all for it now as the contagious part was before there were any symptoms. It's a one time thing like chicken pox or something.

diskim - glad Aidan's ok!

jill - you are amazing doing all of that on your ankle! Sorry about your sister and her troubles - my sister just emailed me tonight asking for memories from our childhood as she's in therapy for depression and can't remember anything but bad. Sad, because there was plenty of good.

justhat - enjoy those cookies! You deserve every one!!

joats - you were one I forgot earlier - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! Glad your DH is such a sweetie!

hillbeans - forgot to wish you much fun tomorrow with Nick!!!!

Goodnight for real this time. Off to enjoy "Ramona the Brave" for the umpteenth time with Hannah. She still likes to take turns reading aloud and I know it won't last much longer so I enjoy it. Hayley has only liked to read to herself since she was like 7 or 8.

Joats, sorry about the rash, but Happy Anniversary!! Sorry it’s late, I am so behind I didn’t even catch that it was your anniversary till now.

DisKim, isn’t that funny how moms know more than doctors sometimes? I have told my husband countless things about our kids that he dismisses and it later turns out that I’m right. We hardly ever take them to the peds so I can’t blame them much, but the 1 time I did they missed an ear infection on 4 visits over 3 weeks! I hope Aidan starts feeling better soon. :grouphug: And good luck to your aunt and getting discharged again.

Dizagain, today was actually the first time the nurse administering the shots asked me if I brought Tylenol. They’ve never even mentioned it before. I gave him about 0.6mL of the infant Tylenol before we left for the dr (8am) and then 0.8mL at 3pm when we got home from the zoo (yes, the zoo again). My husband said 0.8mL was fine but I was in a rush this morning and couldn’t get more than 0.6mL in the dropper so that’s what he got. He’s 14 pounds though so you may want to adjust accordingly for Carson’s weight if he's significantly smaller. BTW, my husband is equally as unobservant. The things he doesn’t know simply amaze me.

Cabmom, that picture of Dean is adorable! Have fun at the Great Wolf Lodge. I’d love to go to one sometime when my kids are a little older.

Alice28, I was just looking at height restrictions and checking the CDC growth curves to see when Madison will be tall enough for some rides. I really just want her to be 38 inches so I have someone to ride Kali with me cause even with someone there my husband won’t do it. I measured her in her Minnie shoes since they have a small heel and she was just a little over 37 inches. Sorry to hear about the moodiness though. :grouphug: That Depo can do a lot of crazy things. I only had one friend who used it for awhile but she was sorta crazy to begin with so I never noticed much of a change (seriously, I mean she was always very moody, not trying to be funny). I hope all that stuff ends for you soon. And good luck for a better night with Molly too! It irks me when they do that for no reason cause I want to be able to say “just go to sleep!” It reminds me of when we first moved here and Madison got up during the night and played for 3 hours then said at 6am “Mommy, I have to sit down.” Well yeah you nut!! :lmao: Oh yeah, Madison also dumped out a bottle of baby wash in Phoenix too, but the best part about that is that my mom was bathing her and let her do it! She said “I told her not to waste it.”

Jill I had tendonitis in my knee twice and it is very painful. I hope your mom is feeling better soon cause that is not fun at all. And I hope they can figure out what’s wrong with your sister soon. My husband did research in college with a dr studying Crohn’s and that’s a rough illness so I hope that’s not what she has. Of course getting a diagnosis is a relief even if it is something like Crohn’s. Wow, I just realized practically your whole family got hurt at once with your ankle too. Hopefully your ankle won’t take too long to heal up since you’re so busy right now. And I was relieved too about the RSV shots. His ped had mentioned it awhile back before his rapid growth began and he was having so much trouble with the jaundice, but now that his color is finally normal and he’s so big she said he should be okay without them. Of course, my nephew, who was full term and 9.4 pounds at birth still got RSV when he was 5 months old and was hospitalized for 4 days so I’m still a little scared of it, especially since we’re going away twice during RSV season. BTW, what are your WDW dates, you arrive the 19th? Are you doing a MVMCP? We’re planning on the 21st. You must be so looking forward to that trip after this tough semester and now an injury too.
ETA: I just saw your post and I would love to get together with you when things calm down. How nice would some relaxation time be!?! :teeth: BTW, I know you mentioned wanting to visit the zoo and thought I’d let you know that the new Asia Trail will open on 10/17. I’m sure you weren’t planning to run there this weekend anyway, but wanted you to be glad you didn’t come already cause you would have missed it and they already have a bunch of animals in there so their old homes are empty which makes the zoo kinda boring. :lmao: , like it wasn’t already!

DisneyPhD, congrats to Lily on the allergies! I hope she enjoys all her new found treats! :cheer2:

BnB, my husband is the same way, taking out his work frustrations on us. I hate that cause I can understand being stressed at work and all that, but you need to separate the 2 worlds and realize that we did not cause any of that aggravation. Luckily my husband has been realizing that too and really hasn’t been bad about it since July. In med school though he was a nightmare. He still acts like a 3rd child though, and when he does “help” with chores he complains bitterly about how the house is such a mess, etc. I love your “dictator tot” phrase-so appropriate! :rotfl2:

SL, could Lucas look any cuter than that photo in your sig! I loved all your trip photos. Lucas looks like he had a blast and I think that photo with you and him is just adorable. You should post that photo of him on the plane on the family boards cause there are so many hostile debates about lap kids vs. bringing the carseat on and buying a seat. He’s so smiley and happy he could be the poster child for “take the carseat”! :lmao: Thanks for the tip about the First Trip pins too-I’ll have to pick one up for Henry and stick it on the Bjorn. :thumbsup2 And Henry’s in the 90th percentile for height too and my husband and I are even shorter than you guys-I’m 5’4” and he’s 5’8”. He’s dad’s around 6’2” though so maybe it comes from him. Oh, and I’ve only been wrong a couple of times in my life too. ;)
ETA: My husband’s response about Lucas’ rash was that it is “some random virus-he’ll be fine”. Not sure if that will put you at ease till you can call his dr or not (probably not cause I don’t always trust him!) but I hope it helps a bit. We're kinda bad parents though in that we never call or go to the ped.

Gina, glad that your husband was safe. That plane crash was across the street from one of my mom’s friends. He’s a criminal defense attorney in the Bronx, “Don’t Worry Murray” ;) if you’ve heard of him. He’s got a show on 1460am (www.wvox.com) on Wednesdays at 2pm and had the “sleeping defendant”. He was just at the convention we were at in Phoenix and was telling me about his NYC house and how they prefer their Rockland county house cause their granddaughters can run around outside and stuff and when I heard where the crash was I was so nervous it was his building. And thanks for giving me the push on the ADRs. Today was just way too busy but I plan to do them tomorrow when Madison is in school.

Zalansky, congrats to your cousin! That must be so great to hear you’re pregnant after trying for over 6 years. And maybe you’ll make an announcement like that again! ;)

Hillbeans, enjoy Nick! I’m so jealous! Have a good time in PA too.

Tasha, I had that same guilt when Madison was an infant and I had to finish the semester of school I was in when she was born. I had some presentations to do that semester and I felt so bad leaving this tiny newborn while I went to class. Then the written stuff I had till the end of the year to complete and it took me forever cause she’d always want my attention when I was studying. But ya know, I think it’s great that you’re getting this all out of the way now, cause I am still not finished and now I have a 2nd kid so that will only make it harder I’m sure. When Kylie’s older she won’t have any recollection of this and I think she’ll benefit from being in daycare since she’s at that age where she can start to interact and learn from other kids. And I agree that she’s a lot like Madison so I think you’ll appreciate having her in daycare in another year or so! And if you do go to WDW I think a leash might be useful. We have one for Madison that is a little fanny pack she can wear and then one I can wear and there is a retractable string that can connect them. We used it when she was 14 months but she was so light that everytime she got to the end of her leash (which was often) she’d fall down from the force of the rope ending! It was pretty funny to see, but we had to stop using it cause it was sorta mean. At 2 she still wanted to walk a lot (she’s never been a stroller baby) but agreed to hold my hand or the side of the stroller. I think it was out of fear when she saw this mob in IASW the first day. She looked at the line with huge eyes and said “Mommy too many peoples!” ;)

Fabumouse, I meant to say this ages ago, but our rabbit that died this summer had what I think your guinea pig has. I don’t know what it was cause we were bad pet owners and didn’t take her to the vet, but if I knew how bad it would get I would have put her down. She ended up dying on her own right after I gave her a bath to clean all the fecal matter off of her. It actually stained her white fur and had eaten away some fur from her belly. Sadly I think it was probably septic and that’s how she died. But I was pregnant, we moved, and I just honestly wasn’t caring for her like I had been/should have so I didn’t realize that it had gotten so out of hand. :sad1:

I think Kailey flooding your bathroom is worse than my situation so I’ll consider myself lucky. That just happened in an elementary school near my mom-this summer 3 preteen boys stopped up all the sinks and water fountains and caused millions of dollars in damage. So now you can think of yourself as lucky too! ;)

And the reason I asked about the DOL is that my mom is a union president in NJ and I was wondering if you knew any of the DOL investigators she’s familiar with. Her labor lawyers all work out of NY so maybe you know some of them too. Of course, you might not have even been in that division anyway!

Floridafam, I have 2 or 3 packs of Pampers so I’ll get those codes for you. I put them on the top shelf of the kids closet so I have to get a chair in their room to get them down so I’ll do it tomorrow.

Tkyes, your post made me glad that we didn’t move to MN cause I’m so not ready for weather that cold yet! Too bad we’ll just miss you in WDW. Henry’s christening is the 12th so we have to be back for that.

Nucpharm, your Sedona trip sounds much nicer than mine and makes me want to go back! I loved it when I went with my mom about 5 or 6 years ago but going with the annoying friends took so much out of it this time. I really want to go back as a family but we’ll probably wait till the kids are older and can appreciate it.

GLT, I hope you’re having a better day. :grouphug: It always seems like everything that can possibly happen at once does. When it’s bad that is-good things seem to be reserved as treats. And I would never have known or even thought about flossing Madison’s teeth. Gosh, she’ll love that!

Wow, this took forever to type. Guess that will get me to keep up with things. It’s the first time I actually opened up a word doc to type it out so I could see all the pages I needed to. This thread is practically the only thing I do for myself lately so I should really make time for it. The cookies are done and I ate 3 of them and then made Bagel Bites. What a dinner. I made Madison a decent meal of black beans, green beans, carrots, turkey, and a few types of crackers. But other than the carrots and turkey I’m not a big fan of the rest of it so I only had a couple of carrot sticks and then was still hungry. I really shouldn’t have eaten anything since I had a cheeseburger at the zoo. I consented to the zoo today to get some extra walking in, but Henry’s Tylenol wore off in the Small Mammal House so we had to make a quick exit. He was done with the stroller so while I was strapping the Bjorn on Madison decided to stick an acorn in his mouth, which was wide open, screaming. :furious: I’m just very lucky that she didn’t let go of it cause it was a very small one and would have gotten stuck in his throat I’m sure. And my husband was afraid someone would report me to CPS over the stair incident-I think what I’ve posted the past 2 days is far worse!! I think I’ll watch the rest of ER now and then head to bed. Abby as a mom is just cracking me up! I got comments about using a Bjorn like that too and every woman at the parks around here are nannies too.

Buzznbelle- Sorry you’re having a tough time lately. My DH has also been snappy lately because of all the long work days. I’ve completely given up on asking him to do things around the house because it’s just too much for him.

Cabmom- Great picture. I love Dean’s chubby cheeks!

DisneyPHD- Great news about the allergies.

Jill- Sorry about the ankle. I hope you and your mom and sister all get better quickly.

Justhat- Sorry that Henry isn’t feeling well.

DisKim- Glad to hear that Aiden is on the upswing from being sick. It would be awful if he got croup.

Joats- I hope you stop itching! I saw Lost last night and it was really good. I think ABC has been posting the episodes on their website after they air, so people can catch up if they miss one.

SL- OMG Lucas must not be a happy camper. I wish I could help, but I’m not sure what he might have.

Gee, I’ve been feeling crummy all day (sniffles, sore throat, etc), but after reading the thread today it seems like I’m in ok health comparatively. It seems like everyone is sick all of a sudden. I got SOO much work done today. It was wonderful. My mom said that Olivia took a 2+ hour nap with her too. Go figure! For me, I never get more than 10-15 minutes at a time out of her. I also won the ebay auction I was bidding on, so now I have Olivia’s first Christmas present out of the way. It’s a set of Madame Alexander baby dolls wearing costumes of the Winnie the Pooh characters! They’re sooooo cute. We actually saw them being sold at 6 Flags and I knew I had to get them for Livvie. Luckily, I got a great deal on ebay and paid less than half of what they would have cost me in most stores.

OK, going to settle in and watch the rest of the Mets game with DH.

ETA: Justhat- that's funny that your friend had the sleeping defendant.

Hi, everyone!!!

My home computer is still down, so I'm checking in from my parent's house. We have a big family weekend planned- the fair, my Dad's b-day, and my DH's football game.

First, a big THANK YOU to Kim for the wonderful exchange package that I received yesterday. She sent me: a very pretty fall tart burner with wax tarts/melts, Bath & Body Works Pumpkin hand & body lotion, Disney picture frame, Halloween coloring books, bath crayon set, Halloween light up pen, Halloween cookie cutters, Halloween magnetic note pad, and a very pretty denim dress for Jenna.
Kim, you really shouldn't have spent so much. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

I have really missed my computer, but it has made me realize that I spend way too much time on the computer.

I want you to know that I have missed all of you, and you have been in my thoughts (and prayers). :grouphug:

I'm off to page 634 to try and catch up!

Thanks for all the hugs and support everyone! I am feeling a little better. I should say I do enjoy having Kylie in daycare part-time to some extent. I need the adult interaction that I get while at school. I just don't like the idea of what the future holds as far as being away from my kids so early on. I am fine with going back to work. It's honestly what I want to do eventually. My problem is I had not planned to do so until Kylie was in kindergarten and my other was around 2. I wanted my kids to be around 3 years apart, granting we have no problems getting pregnant. And I wanted to be able to keep my next kid home with me for about a year like I did with Kylie. I feel okay with Kylie going to daycare now but there was just no way I could have done it before she turned 1. I am afraid if I wait until after I start working to have our next child that it will be way too hard for me to go back to work when my maternity leave is up. I really just want that extra year with baby #2.

I had a long talk with dh tonight (and yes, I did have a mini breakdown. I really think I am just very stressed and overly tired!) and he told me if I still feel this way next year then he would be just fine if I want to finish my degree, take my national test to become registered, and then stay home a year or so with a new baby. He said if I wanted we could start trying for a baby around the end of next fall or so which would mean I would really only be pregnant for about 1 semester (my final semester and my teachers are VERY lenient about mommies-to-be missing school for m/s or dr.'s appt. as long as they make up any missed assignments/tests) and the baby would be born the summer after I graduate from school so I wouldn't have to juggle taking care of a newborn and going to school at the same time. I might also enroll Kylie in preschool during that time so she would still have the socialization but I wouldn't have to pay for daycare costs then. And dh said I could then stay home with Kylie and the baby for a year (give or take some depending on how I feel) if I wanted before going back to work.

I am feeling better knowing I have his okay for that option. However, I don't know whether I will actually do that or not because I may decide to start my career shortly after graduation. I know we are only having 2 kids though and I am afraid I will regret not taking advantage of the time with a 2nd child but I just haven't made up my mind one way or another. It's nice that I have options though. I should mention that the degree I am getting provides many different career opportunities in the healthcare field and if I were to go into coding I could possibly work from home after being in the field a year or 2. I don't know if I will or not but that's another possibility.

So, yes, I am feeling a bit better after talking to dh just knowing that my options are not as limited as I had thought. I really am not stupid enough to drop out when I am doing so well so I guess I just felt kind of limited and stuck with my choices which may not be the case after all. Thanks again everyone! I do know this will be a good thing for my family. It just seems like a lot of stress right now. I know it will be worth it eventually though. We have a major shortage of RHITs in our area too so finding a job will probably not be too hard...I hope! Plus, after I finish this part of my degree I can earn my bachelor's, etc., online at my own pace and won't have to go to any campus for that like I have no choice but to do right now.

About WDW, dh wants to go ahead and give it a shot. He thinks that it will go better than expected. He also said a leash/harness is on our "must buy before we go" list. He also said if Kylie was just too hard to handle in the parks that we could always just enjoy the various resorts and DTD and things like that and spend less time in the parks than usual. We will just do like we did on this last trip and go by Kylie's cues (aka demands!) So I guess we will probably still end up going. I'm glad and nervous at the same time. Kylie will have only turned 2 about 4 days before we leave.

So any of you mommies that have taken your kids when they were just barely 2, how did it go? Was it difficult? What should I expect in your opinion? Would you take them at that age again? Thanks! :)

Very quick post here since I have to go to work.

J&D - I'm so glad you got the package. I always get nervous that it will get lost.

Tasha - We went to Disney when Alex was 2 and it was tough. I bought a shirt with Belle on it that said, "I'm with the Beast" if that gives you a clue as to how difficult he was. That being said, all kids are different. I would book it and see how Kylie is behaving before the 45 day window runs out. That's the wonderful thing about Disney; their cancellation policy is excellent.

Gotta go :moped:
