The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

Not open for further replies.
Thought I sneak on quick instead of doing my nightly chores. :)
J&D: I'll save them for you if I see any. I've seen them before - I'll have to check the cabinets. I'm sure they are at least on cereal boxes.
Tamie: You are too funny having the bikini babe pictures around. Hey, whatever works!!
Fabumouse: Sorry, I don't have any good advice about the pull-ups/bedwetting. I just read something about it in a parenting magazine...I'll look for the issue.
Robin: I'm so excited for you and your trip with your mom to France. There is so much to see and do! You will have a blast!
nucpharm: Glad you had a nice time at your friends shower. Hope your dad enjoyed his Grandpa time.
Lissawyn: Congrats on getting the $$ and for having a good outcome on your quad screen.
Hillbeans: Sorry Kevin is giving you a hard time. :grouphug:
Bellacam: I wasn't clear if you said you tested + for GD or not. SL & I both had it during our pregancies. They took Jace by c-section about 8 days prior to his due date as they thought he was going to be a huge baby - he was only 8'3. Wow, you and DH make some pretty big babies! Keep us posted.

DH got his test results back and they showed the bulging disk. He now has to go to see an Orthopedic MD. I'm hoping surgery will be the last resort - but we'll see. Jace's lip was still so puffy today when he woke up. It's a little better this afternoon. Poor munchkin. He looks like a totally different child.

Getting geared up for Survivor! I'm so excited...I love this show! I am interested to see how the Tribes by Race thing goes. Should be interesting to say the least.

Thank goodness only one more day to get thru until the weekend. Work is nuts and I'm so looking forward to Sat-Sun.

:)

ETA: "I feel like putting him outside the door and closing it the way Fred Flinstone does with his cat" - DisKim: :rotfl: :rotfl: Just hope he doesn't jump right back into the window like the cat does. Sorry the kids are giving you a hard time.

My trip to Target was way more expensive than the last one, but at least I bought a few things for my exchange buddy so it was worthwhile! :thumbsup2 DH didn't get home until 7pm but he grabbed Lucas real quick and went off to his parents house. I'm telling you, those last two hours were a killer. Lucas was completely off his rocker. We're down to one nap a day, but it's only 2 hours so he gets really cranky in the evening.

lissawynn - Congrats on getting the money for the addition!!

BnB - Congrats to Jocelyn on her new hips. ;) I hope she remembers how excited she was when she's older.

DisKim - Sounds similar to my evening. Lucas was standing there screaming at me with one hand up in the air. I still have no idea what his deal was.

joats - I hope Jace's lip swelling goes down soon. I'm also hoping your DH doesn't have to have surgery.

glt - How is your DH feeling?

J&D - I'll take a look and see if we have any of those labels. DH usually chucks a whole bunch of stuff from our pantry on trash night so I'm not sure what's still left. I'll keep an eye out, though.

tkyes - LOL about the bikini pics. Good luck with the weight loss!

Alice - Planning a European vacation must be so much fun! The closest I'll get for a LONG time is the World Showcase.

fabumouse - Good luck with the bedwetting situation.

floridafam - Good luck at Target tomorrow!

nucpharm - Glad you had fun at the baby shower. I definitely appreciate my "me" time.

hillbeans - I hope you find a solution to Kevin's bedwetting situation, too.

Well, I'm missing Survivor so I have to go. I think I'm going to kick back with a bowl of cookie dough ice cream.

Yes, I meant to ask earlier, GLT, is your DH still doing OK?

MaryLou's DH took a turn for the BETTER today! I'm so relieved for her. They didn't have to do the dialysis afterall and is white blood cell count is improving. Yay! :cool1: :thumbsup2

I don't remember who it was discussing the Family Guy talking pen, but I saw them on clearance at Target for $2.

tamie

Another shout out to school fundraiser type thing- I know most of us belong to a reward point site where you can earn points for buying one of these, but if you want an Entertainment Book, and don't belong to Sunshine or Mypoints, I can send you an email to Sam's school link for the Ent Rewards website. I bought one for the first time in a few years, since DH is back! I just bought the little $10 one the last two years since DH wasn't here to dine out with.

I am not so patiently awaiting 8 pm for Survivor to start. And I'm so good, I haven't even peeked at any spoiler thread whatsoever.

DisKim- LOL about your Flinstone description of what you want to do with Aidan! I swear, EVERY time I am putting something in the dishwasher, or emptying it, Molly goes STRAIGHT for the knives. Not the spoons, or a spatula, no, she wants the knives.

And thanks for Kim, BNB and Jill for confirming all that homework was way too much for Sam. I'm really wondering if 7 pages of that was seatwork, and Sam brought it home to do at home. He said the kids voted if they wanted to do it in class or at home and the kids voted at home. But at open house night, I saw some of them on other kids' desk (a vocab and writing type packet). If he brings that home next week, I'm emailing the teacher. It was just ridiculous. He has a spelling test tomorrow, and I don't know which his words are. He brought home a list of TWENTY FIVE words, and they aren't all easy either; I am POSITIVE that can't be his list. He said his pretests all week have been on 8 words. But I would appreciate knowing WHICH 8, you know? I think this teacher is kind of learning as she goes- I would guess she's 25 or 26, and has taught one year of K, one year of PE and now 3rd grade. All 3 of the 3rd grade teachers this year are new to 3rd....kind of weird since 3rd is a big benchmark year here in Oregon.

It's just frustrating because his 2nd grade teacher was one of the best teachers I have EVER met in all my years of working in schools; 25 years experience, so organized it was scary, and just so, so involved, and now I have to switch gears to something different. Not necessarily bad, because she seems really enthusiastic and knows how to manage a classroom, but just, well, different. :confused3

OK, SL, I have had a cranky pants here too. We just went into her room and played Little People for awhile, just to try and distract her. DH just walked in the door, so we'll see if he can't distract her a bit. Sam woke her up early from her nap (Boy, was I steamed- he runs upstairs to the upstairs bathroom, which can only be accessed from either bedroom- weird, I know) and he decides to fling HER door open, where she was asleep. Then slams it shut when he realized she was in there. I wanted to throttle him, because I also had just started my workout. :furious: So, she woke up, and she sat with brother watching cartoons and eating cheezits so I could workout. Boy, did he feel guilty!

I think it's funny that several of us have mentioned we went to Target for our buddies. :rotfl: We will all be exchanging similar things maybe!

I thought the World Showcase was the closest I would come to Europe for another 10 years. Thank goodness for generous moms! She told me last night her financial advisor called them, because they have 'too much cash and need to move some around.' Oh, to have those problems!

Tamie- I love all the fall/Halloween decor at Target. I almost bought a sign for the front door today, but I decided to wait. And I saw some glass stuff I liked for my buddy, but I was afraid it would break.

Joats- OMGosh, I sure hope your DH doesn't need back surgery! He can't be very old, right? Back surgery just seems so scary to me. And probably a lot of physical therapy to recover. :guilty: :grouphug:

I hope Dizagain is doing ok----how's Carson?

I want that Barnes and Noble GC that was the prize on Mypoints yesterday---I'm such a kid that way. I always get excited every time I enter a contest. It's the optimist in me! And then, my name is never there. :confused3

OK, DH just said to me, "There's nothing you want to watch on TV tonight, is there...." :rotfl: Boy, is he a laugh riot. He made SO MUCH fun of me for watching the initial episode of Survivor all those years ago; and then it became the phenom of the summer. I got a kick out of that.

TTYL!

Buzznbelle- I’d be wary of letting my daughter at a friend’s house without parents around too. I can’t see any teenage brother providing much supervision (more like making trouble with the younger siblings). That’s too funny about Robert and the lovely ladies! :lmao:

Alice- mmmm beef stroganoff! Your Europe trip sounds incredible. I’d make sure I stopped in DLParis too. When I knew I was going to Los Angeles to see DH (he was working on assignment there) I was totally excited that I’d get to see DL for the first time.

Joats- sorry about Jace’s cut lip :( Class was really nice. It was eerie to be back at Hofstra though!

Jill- thanks for the good wishes on class :)

Fabumouse- I still owe a ton of money in law school loans too!

Bella- sorry this pregnancy is giving you so much trouble. I don’t have any great advice to offer though. Olivia was three weeks early, but she was tiny. I was on bedrest so that she could hopefully be big and mature enough when she was born. It seems you have the opposite problem.

Lissawynn- Great news about the addition! :cheer2:

Tykes- I hope the basement doesn’t cost too much. It’s so much nicer to have a finished basement to use.

OK, another long day in court completed. It was the first day I had to drive back to mom’s house so she could watch the baby while I went to court. So I rang the doorbell, left Olivia on the stoop and hid behind a bush while my mom answered the door. :rolleyes1

I liked being in class last night. It’s fun to learn something new, and even better if it can help me earn some more $$. I worked at my mom’s house for a little bit, but felt worn out and left with Olivia around 6:30. DSIS(8) was upset because she didn’t get to say goodbye to Olivia and was crying :( So mom and I agreed she could sleep-over at our house tomorrow night. She’s so excited! We need to get some more boxes cleared out!

I meant to get on here earlier today, but I fell asleep on the couch for awhile and then had to get on with my "chores" of mommyhood. It was Joey's day off so we got some grocery shopping done and apparently that was too taxing for me cause I was exhausted when we got home. He's on call tomorrow night so hopefully I'm not as tired cause I can't nap if I'm alone with my kids. Anyway.

Fabumouse and Hillbeans, we went through a bedwetting phase too. Madison potty trained in March (daytime) and decided she was done with pullups at night in May. At first I was skeptical cause the pullup was sometimes wet in the morning, but I went with it and she was fine. Then 2 months later she wet the bed a few times over a week or 2 and being pregnant and not wanting to change the sheets during the night I stuck her in pullups and she was dry ever since. Someone, I think GLT, suggested that maybe the pullups took off the pressure of staying dry so it was easier for her. So maybe they would work for your kids if that is in fact the reason or part of it. The past 2 weeks the pullup has been wet several times, but I think it's cause she's been going to bed by 7:30 since school started, sleeping 11 hours, and I haven't been diligent about potty before bed. My other suggestion would be maybe make some kind of reward system-like a sticker for every morning that they wake up dry and then a prize when X# of stickers are on the chart. Not sure if that stuff still works with 5yos as I don't have one, but maybe.

J&D, too cute about Jenna! I bet she'll look darling in her Halloween costume.

Tamie, too funny about the photos you put up for motivation. I should do that myself. My excitment for the week was that I wore my old jeans for the first time yesterday! But I've got a long way to go.

Speaking of wearing old clothes, I had been wearing my maternity shorts till now cause my regular shorts are stored away and I haven't taken them out yet since I didn't think I'd get to wear them this year given Henry's due date. Anyway, it got cold this week so I decided to wear pants, but not sure if my old pants would fit yet or not (since I've still got 10ish lbs hanging on) I put on my maternity jeans and they were pretty tight. Uncomfortably tight. I was annoyed thinking my thighs were bigger than during pregnancy and after I dropped Madison off at school I took them off and decided to try my regular jeans just to see how much I had to go and they fit fine much to my surprise. So why is it that my regular pants fit better than my maternity pants? Shouldn't those be bigger?

Bellacam, I've had some large babies too, though compared to yours they're tiny! Madison was 8 lbs. 4 oz. at 37 weeks, 6 days and my dr estimated that she'd have been around 10 lbs. if she made it to her due date. So with Henry he told me he'd likely do an induction around 37 or 38 weeks. I had an ultrasound to measure him at 35 weeks, 1 day and he measured way bigger. My due date based on that ultrasound was 3 weeks before my original due date and all of his measurements were over 38 weeks, with his head measuring 40 weeks. His weight was estimated at 6 lbs. 10 oz. This was on 7/25. My dr had me meet him at the hospital that weekend and he picked an induction date for me, but cause of his schedule it wasn't till I was 38 weeks, even though neither he nor us thought the baby would wait that long. (Madison's birth 15 days early was spontaneous labor.) When I went into labor it was 8/4, less than 2 weeks after that ultrasound, and I was 36 weeks, 4 days. I was really concerned that Henry's lungs would be immature since he was preterm, but luckily he was fine. He weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 inches, so the ultrasound was pretty accurate on the measurements, except for his head, which was measuring the largest on the ultrasound but ended up being only 13 inches which is 10th percentile for a term birth. Oh, and I didn't have GD either. I know about the diabetes thing cause my nephew was 9 lbs. 4 oz. at birth and they told my SIL that, but like Robin said it's not a guarantee so don't get too worked up about it yet. My biggest fear with having a preterm baby is lung maturity, but they can always give you some surfactant before you deliver to help with that. The other thing is that Henry has had some bad jaundice since birth, still hanging on now at 6 weeks, and his dr said the only explanation for it after ruling out the most common causes is that he was preterm and his liver was immature. This was made worse by his large size-not only did he have a 36 week liver, but a 36 week liver is designed to handle a 6 lb. baby, not an 8 pounder, so it just couldn't catch up to his size. Right now he's over 12 lbs. so I guess his weight gain is outpacing his liver development since he's still yellow. Other than that though he's been fine, so if you do end up with a preterm c-section don't worry that it will be so bad.

Hi to everyone I missed-I know that's a lot of you but I so need to go to bed. I stayed up watching last season's ER finale as though I didn't see it in May. I have to admit I was pretty jealous of Abby having a due date a month before mine since she conceived her child the same time as me, within days based on when she found out she was pregnant, but since Henry was born early it all worked out! I can't wait to see the new episode next week. Between Survivor tonight, AR, and ER I'm set for the week!

Before I head to bed I just remembered I need help from you ladies for 2 things. 1st, anyone know how to contact disneyshopping.com? I ordered Madison's Halloween costume from there a couple of weeks ago, along with the Halloween doormat. They shipped separately and the doormat arrived but the costume did not. I sent them an e-mail but have not heard back and cannot find a phone number anywhere on the site.

2nd thing is what do you know about renting dvc points. We want to rent points for our 3 nights in Vero Beach but I've never done it and my husband is so afraid we'll get scammed somehow. Not knowing how it's done I have no idea if that's possible. I believe we need 24 points for the 3 nights we'll be there. I've looked at the rent/trade board, but I am still a bit confused about what exactly happens as far as making the reservation goes. I don't even know if anyone here has rented points before, but since some of you are dvc members I figured you'd at least know more than me. And if any of you have points you need to sell or whatever it's called, I'd gladly get them from you since I trust you all more than complete strangers. So any advice about that would be great!

Well, I didn't think Survivor was that great tonight. Nothing really exciting or funny happened like when Rupert stole the other team's shoes and declared himself a pirate.

Did anyone watch ABC's Primetime special Cruel Intentions? It talked about "mean girls" and how they use technology like the Internet to bully and humiliate others.

justhat- The number is 1-800-328-0368.

I wasn't impressed with Survivor last night. I've been on again, off again with that show. Rupert got me interested in it again when he was on, but it really just feels like the same old thing to me. Dividing the teams racially really bothers me. Even though it's just a stupid tv show and they all agreed to it, it feels like segregation and it disturbs me. I do like that crazy hippie-type older guy though. He might be entertaining enough to make me watch it.

justhat - I made some contacts because I was going to rent DVC points with friends. I think everyone who does it has a contract which will protect both of you. Most of them said something about paying half up front and the rest later. The people on the DVC boards were very helpful and some people pm'd me about renting from them.

GM - Your sister sounds so cute. It's so nice that she is so close with Olivia.

I haven't seel Val around in a while. Hi Val  !

I think I'm the only one on this thread who hasn't been to Target lately! I'm feeling bad because I haven't gotten to shop for my exchange buddy yet. I'm hoping to get out shopping this weekend. There is a really cute old fashioned store close to here called General Store. They have the cutest holiday items. I think I'm going to see what I can find there.

Oh man, I hear Aidan talking and it is not even 6am yet. I'm so happy. Today is my first payday for the year :cheer2: . It feels like FOREVER since I've received a paycheck.

Good morning ladies! I barely slept last night and decided to call it a day at about 6am so all my cleaning is done and I have some DIS time!

Hillbeans – My niece went thru a very similar stage after being fully potty trained too. I think its pretty common, but frustrating. Hope things get better soon.

Lissawynn – How exciting for you about the house! It will be so worth the trouble when it’s all done. Glad your Dr’s appt went well.

Fabumouse – I know a lot of people who use “Goodnights”. It cuts down on laundry and for my niece, who was also a heavy sleeper and just would not wake up, cut down on the embarrassment of accidents.

Robin – Your trip sounds wonderful. I have always wanted to visit Europe, but I could not take that long of a plane trip. Thank you for the advice about the new baby. It really helped.
Tamie – I had to laugh at the thought of putting up girlie pics around the house for motivation. I plan on going back on WW as soon as I’m done nursing, if not before. Good luck to you!

Diskim – I feel your pain. Aidan was a little pill yesterday because he was over tired. Thank god DH’s long weekend starts today. I like the Fred Flintstone idea!!!!

Joats – I hope your dh is able to avoid surgery!!! I hope Jace’s lip is better today!

SL – Aidan is starting to phase out two naps too. He was doing one long nap for a while but went back to two a day. Now when he just takes it in the morning, I am sitting by the window waiting for DH at 5:30 to hand him over he gets so cranky!

Ginamarie – I have a niece who’s 8 and she adores Aidan. She’s a pretty big help and I love it when she sleeps over because she will entertain Aidan while I get a little extra sleep. Enjoy!!

Justhat – That’s weird about the maternity pants. I feel like I have been wearing maternity clothes for two years straight…Oh wait, I have!! Thank you as well for you advice.

I was finally able to have a long talk with DH last night about the situation with this baby. I wanted to clarify, I just took the glucola test Wednesday and don’t have the results yet. I did do an early diabetes test at 18 weeks because of Aidan’s birth weight that was fine. GD was one of the possible explanations given for this baby being so large so early. After talking with DH, I have decided that a pre term c-section is not what we want, unless there are serious enough health reasons for the baby or me. I would rather allow the baby to mature as much as possible than worry about possible future health risks down the line. Like Robin said, there are a lot of other things I can do to try to prevent Diabetes naturally, rather than deliver too early which guarantees nothing. I really appreciate all of the advice and will keep you ladies posted!

Well, dh and Aidan got up a while ago and I smell bacon, so I am off!!! Enjoy your day, everyone!

OMG!!! It was not bacon, it was homemade homefries and grilled banana bread :faint: When I asked if he was trying to earn points for something, he gave me THE LOOK :love2: . I swear, I would marry him every day!!!!!

Morning! Hannah is walking the floor with Carson so I'm taking 10 minutes off. He's had some sort of tummy issue off and on for a few days and my arms may just fall off from holding him! He seemed better yesterday afternoon and was Mr. Personality for awhile but around 5 this morning he was obviously hurting. He still seems to want to eat - just stops now and then and cries. So, we'll talk to Dr. in a few days at his 1-month to see if formula is the clulprit...

Anyway,

BuzznBelle- Hayley is not interested in growing up either. 7th grade has brought great interest in clothes and concern about hair but that's about it. She is very tall and generally thin, but has always still had her baby tummy pooch. At American Eagle ( joys of clothing interest - that place is INSANELY expensive but we found two cute t's on clearance!) the other day I noticed her tummy was not pooching much but seemed to have moved "upstairs"...she was happy about the tummy, but not so much about it's new location.

Fabumouse - Hannah was on/off again with the bed wetting thing through kindergarten. Hang in there and I think pull-ups are the way to go - Hannah never fought me on that and it saves much laundry! Hayley actually went through a wetting phase last year at 11 when she was going through the major move, leaving friends, etc. Scary, but short.

Alice - Sam's homework sounds crazy - my girls have never had too much but 7th grade is rough now. I'd check with the teacher and make sure you have all info, though, if it keeps up....Hannah sometimes doesn't tell me everything!

Bellacam - Words of encouragement...Carson was measuring 3 weeks ahead at 30 weeks but did a big slow-down and was 7.9 when he was born at 38 weeks. Definitely did not meet doctors estimation! Hang in there! Enjoy that yummy breakfast...what a sweet DH!

GLT- Hope your DH is doing ok!

Diskim - Hope your day is better and you don't have to lock any of the kids out!

Lissawynn - So cool you can begin your rennovation! We have a huge unfinished basement that I'd LOVE to do something with...sigh...not happening!

Justhat - hope DH can be home for Christmas - that's awful!

Hi to everyone and have a great day! Maybe I'll be back if I can...for some reason Carson doesn't like sitting on my lap at the computer. That boy better learn! :)

So I called the Doctor and he told me to get something called a "Potty Pager". It's like a beeper for kids. They wear it on their underwear and when it senses moisture it wakes up your child to get up and go to the bathroom. The Dr. said it's a very common thing and for his age (5.5) it's not completely unusual. It's a combination of being a really deep sleeper and having a small bladder. So last night I bought the Good nights - the pullups for big kids. Kevin was NOT happy, but put one on anyway. So he went from 8 pm to 6:30 am today dry as a bone. Go figure!

Nucpharm - The woman I use for the kids charges me $4 an hour for one and $7 an hour for two. I provide Diapers and Breakfast/lunch and she provides drinks (Juice or Milk) and wipes. The benefit with having home care to us was that our sitter is very flexible. She takes off the major holidays and has a scheduled one week off - she gives us a schedule every February for the whole year. I think her days off are New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If we take a week off for vacation then we do pay her for that week however we don't have to pay her for the week she takes off. We also give her a bonus at christmas. Good luck!

Justine - I know this is a different situation, but my Husband got Steelers tickets for Christmas Eve in Pittsburgh. He is on the season ticket list and gets to submit a request for tickets throughout the year. That was one of the two games he got. The game is at 1:00 and it's a 7 hour drive to and from, so he's going to be driving home late on Christmas Eve (with his brother) to get home so he can be there in the AM for the kids at Christmas. I am depressed too that i'll be alone on Christmas Eve (my family is going to celebrate on the 23rd due to my family's other arrangements) but I told my husband that he can go and have a great time. He deserves to go and it could be their biggest game of the year. We'll just not celebrate Christmas Eve on Christmas eve this year, but the day before. We can both come on here and DIS with each other!!!

Floridafam - Congrats on losing a whole dress size!!! WTG !!!! :Pinkbounc

Loretta - If you think that you'll be happier if you can find a PT job then maybe your DH will go along with it. Maybe if you give him an idea of what you're looking to do and how it would make you feel good to get out maybe one night and one weekend day a week. I know someone who works about 10 hours a week at our local bookstore and she really enjoys it. This way, she doesn't have to worry about getting a sitter and her husband watches the kids for a few hours while she works. It seems to be a win/win situation.

Tamie - I hope Tyler is better today. How is his ear and his bite? Hopefully they're getting better. I can't wait to get my growth charts, maybe they'll be here today or tomorrow.

Lissawynn - It's funny, I pretty much felt from the start that Liam would be another boy. For some reason, I never imagined myself being able to give birth to a girl. It's a lot of fun having two boys, but sometimes I get very envious when i'm at the store and the girl clothes are just so adorable!

Ginamarie - it sounds like you're so very busy! Glad that you had a good day in class!

ALice - I had to laugh at your post that "The world showcase will be the closest you get to Europe for 10 years" LOL! I've been to Europe a few times - I even went to Monaco when an old friend of mine got married there - but to be honest, I still like going to WDW the most!

J&D - I started watching that last night before I fell asleep. Did that boy end up killing himself? I think it's awful how catty and mean kids can be to each other. I couldn't even imagine being so mean as to make another child take their own life?

Bellacam - I hope that everything works out with your health and your baby's health. :grouphug: Thanks for the update.

Joats - I hope your husband's gets some good news about his back from the Doctor. Poor Jace - hope that his lip is better today. OUCH!

Diskim - sounds like you had one heck of a day!!!! Maybe it was the bad weather or something making the kids act out of control! Hope today is a better day all around for you!!! :grouphug: :thumbsup2

I will catch up more with everyone tomorrow. Gotta run....

Happy Friday everyone! I am really sorry that I haven't been able to do a "real" post to all of you the last few days. I am trying to get all of my spelling tests graded today so I don't have any homework hanging on for the weekend. I also have to finish my test for Monday. I have several students who need adaptations, so I have some work to do before leaving today. I'd also like to get my copies made so I can come in on Monday and not be running around like a nutcase.

I hope you're all well and the kiddos are doing well, too! I am working the ms dance tonight so I can leave early on my US day w/o having to take sick time. I also have to empty my closet so DH and BIL can take the a/c unit and ductwork out of our attic. It just so happens that the entrace to the attic is in MY closet.

Have a great Friday all!

bellacam,

Grilled banana bread??? I must try that!! :thumbsup2

Don't worry too much. Some women just have bigger babies, period. I think you and DH came to a good decision.

Kona and I just got back from Target. Is anyone else finding too much stuff for their buddy? :teeth: It's so much fun to shop for this exchange!!

Kona must have said puppy a million times in Target-every time she saw the Target dog.

I'm so glad it's Friday. I'm looking forward to just relaxing this weekend.

justhat,

If I had any DVC points to rent right now, I would rent them to you in a second. I understand about being nervous regarding renting from a total stranger. I know there are some regulars over there who rent their points. I'll take a look over there.

I've got to eat something before I faint. I haven't eaten yet today.

Be back later. :cool1:

Hi girls,

I can't stay online too long, as I still have plenty of cleaning to do. That's another thing that prevents me from wanting a larger home- I can barely keep this one clean! :rotfl:

I keep leaving the computer on the DIS though; I thought today, "Geez, it must look like I'm online all day long!" I just don't remember to close the window, and since we have wireless, it doesn't matter.

Hillbeans- sounds like a good plan you have going for Kevin with the potty issue. I have to say that once my boys were trained, they rarely, if ever had an accident again. HOWEVER, before you think, "Gee what a snotty comment that was" they weren't trained until well over 3 1/2!!!!!!!!! Josh was close to 4! My friend used that potty pager for her son, when he was about 7 and it worked for him. Her doctor said some kids, often boys, just need to play a little catch up with their bodies, and their bladder just isn't simpatico with the rest of their bodies, or something like that.

And oh boy about your DH going to the Steelers game on Christmas Eve! Maybe you can do something unique with the boys that night- something un-Christmassy but still fun, like make tacos and watch Disney DVDs. A lot of times when DH was gone, I just made holidays really lowkey and didn't make a big deal about DH not being there. I think the Easter he was gone and my family wasn't here either, we did hunt for eggs (and I believe Molly was 3 weeks old- I was so NOT motivated to do anything), but then had something really unconventional for dinner, like teriyaki chicken or something.

I will always love the WS too; I think Europe will be wonderful, but the WS is great for getting a taste of everything in a day....and being able to speak English the entire time too! :teeth:

Tamie- how much will the basement be? I'm curious. We have an unfinished basement too, as I have mentioned I'm sure....but ours is literally dirt floors and exposed foundation. Great for storing tools and Christmas junk, but not for hanging out in. I think it will be at least 25K at a minimum to redo it next summer.

bellacam- that breakfast sounds divine. What a nice DH! I'm glad you all were able to talk about the pregnancy and possible delivery options. I'm sure everything will be fine. Try not to worry about all the what ifs. Amazing that you only have 2.5 months to go!

ETA- I went on a cleaning crazy, and I got almost done rather quickly. I wanted to add that yes, FF, I am having a really hard time staying in control shopping for my exchange person. I know I have spent more than $15, but probably not more than $25. I just want everyone else to know that I don't expect the same! I just was so careful to stay in the boundaries the last 3 exchanges, and then I felt like I didn't do enough. I just have one more thing I want to get.

Kim, don't feel bad you haven't shopped yet! I mean, the mailing date is still several weeks away! And I bet that general store has some totally cute things- my mom has a store like that near her and I LOVE their seasonal stuff!

Alisa- hope the grading went smoothly!

Val and Jill- hope you are hanging in there with work and school, etc. How many days now til you leave, Val!?!?! :cheer2:

I also have to add, (geez I always have too much to say- I need to get out more!) I am SO GRUMPY this morning....I'm halfway hoping it means Aunt Flo is coming 'for real' (the depo break thru bleeding FINALLY stopped early last week). As soon as it comes, I can call the hospital and schedule that xray test to make sure my tubes are closed and I can move on from the life I know with birth control! :cool1: I will keep you posted....although I guess that might be too much info....I just want this test over and done with so I know if the Essure worked or not!

Ginamarie - Glad you enjoyed your class last night. I must have missed it - what's the class for?

justhat - I hope you find Madison's costume. Their package tracking on that site is horrible. I find it to be no help at all.

J&D - I agree, last night's Survivor was pretty boring. I couldn't stand Rupert so I'm actually glad there's no Rupert type this year, but I'll admit he made for some good TV.

DisKim - Congrats on your first payday.

bellacam - Good luck with the diabetes/big baby issues. I had GD when I was pregnant and I might still have some of my literature around if you're interested. I can't be 100% on that since I'm at work now and there's a chance I threw out all my stuff as soon as Lucas was born. Anyway, maybe following a low sugar/carb diet would be a good idea regardless of the test results.

dizagain - I hope Carson feels better soon!

hillbeans - Good luck with the Potty Pager and the pull-ups. I hope they work for you.

lissawynn - Have fun cleaning out the closet!

floridafam - I probably could have gotten everything for the exchange at Target but I had to stop myself so I could check out a few other places. I figured I could always go back.

Alice - I do the same thing so my green dot must always be on. Even at work I keep the screen minimized so it looks like I'm always online. I have wireless at home too and I'm automatically logged on to the DIS.

Tomorrow is the party for my nephews' first birthday so I have a lot of wrapping to do tonight. I also said I'd bring brownies and I even found brownie mix with Peanut Butter Cups already in the mix!

Robin,

Keep us posted on your Essure test. I will be crossing my fingers that your tubes are blocked. We can start our own little club here on the DIS. I really should get back in for another HSG but I keep putting it off. I'm sure they are both closed now.

Strawberry Lemonade,

That mix sounds great. Have fun at the party tomorrow.

ginamarie,

Good luck in class. What kind of class is it?

Hi ladies! I need to hop in the shower, I'm kinda stinky after my workout.

alice - He didn't give us a price last night, I think he needs to sit down and figure stuff out. We are hoping to stay around $20 - $30k for the basement. Our basement is poured and insulated and the bathroom plumbing is roughed in. I can't believe I'm saying this to someone, but I hope aunt flo is here for real for you!

sl - Yum on the brownies! I hope the party is fun!

hillary - Good luck with the pull-ups.

bellacam - I've never heard of grilled banana bread either. That sounds very interesting. What a sweet hubby!

lissawynn - Have a good weekend and don't work too hard cleaning out the closet!

joats - Keep us posted on your husband! Sending good thoughts.

ff - I know you're trying to lose weight, but you do have to eat ;) lol

diz - lol about the movement of your daughter's belly. I wish I could get mine to move up!!

diskim - We have a store here called the General Store too and it has the cutest things ever! I debated about looking there for my exchange stuff, but it's a 40 minute drive.

j&d - I didn't think Survivor was that exciting either. I'm really looking forward to Amazing Race!

Tyler's lump or bite or whatever it is, seems to be getting better. It's still big, but it isn't as hard. If there was fluid in it, it must have drained. He did get a couple of gnat or mosquito bites the other night. Wow, have those swelled up. My girlfriend says her sons bug bites get gigantic too.

DH and a couple of his friends are doing a rollerblade marathon this weekend so we are heading up north for that in a few hours. I need to go finish packing!

hi to justthat, ginamarie, bnb, jill, disneyphd, tasha and everyone else I'm forgetting.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Tamie
