The Official May 2015 Thread!!

I just called and changed my dates at POFQ to May 10-15, I didn't realize the weekend we were originally booked for was a marathon weekend. We also saved some money! I didn't want to take my daughter out of school for a week but she's only in 1st grade and this is really the only way for us to avoid horrible crowds (I am a nursing student) :yay:

Even though you saved money (always a good thing), the Tinker Bell Half Marathon from May 7th-10th is at Disneyland, not WDW.

I'm just now starting to plan our trip in May. Planning on going the week of Memorial Day. We have been trying to decide between spring break (first week of April) or the week of Memorial Day. I was surprise that rates are much higher for spring break.

Now that Maelstrom is closing and it seems like all of Norway will be down as well for the refurb i'm wondering if Akershush is going to stay open or not. Does anyone know?

Early April is also Easter next year, so not only would rates be at their peak, so will crowds!! I'd take Memorial Day over that anytime!

At this time, I don't believe it will be closing. That could change anytime though.

The ride closes October 6th (I think) and I just looked at March 27th 2015 for breakfast at Akershus and you could get a table.

Just booked our trip :yay:: We will be there May 17th through the 22nd. Staying at AoA in a Little Mermaid room. Can't wait! We will celebrating my birthday and our 10 year anniversary.

:banana:Congratulations!! I have got you added!

Hi all! So I was planning to go back October 2016 for two weeks. However things have changed and I am considering late may 2016. I know it's too early to join a planning board but I am wondering what you 2015 people think of late may? My daughters birthday is the 24th and a week after her first round of state tests, so missing school will not be an issue. Do not want to go on school breaks. Now, we have only gone in very low crowd times....1-4 generally for crowd levels. Any recommendations for going in May and keeping crowds in check please let me know! I am sure 2016 will be similar to 2015. Thanks!!!!!

ETA: probably a 10 day trip, with one week off property....I think!!! I really want to do the 15 day one I had planned but thinking it might not work out financially.

My rule with May is early is better, we always get out of Disney before the last week in May because there is an American holiday around there? Memorial Day I think? I am sure you'll know better than me on that dates that will fall on, but crowds over that weekend are insane. I think they hit 9s on the crowd calendar compared to mostly 4/5/6 for the first 3 weeks of May.

This year for instance, through May 21st everyday was 5 or lower on the crowd scale, jumping to a 7 on the 22nd then all 8s & 9s for the remainder of the month. I think the holiday was the 26th this year, the whole week was busy starting the weekend before.

It's not, unmanageable but be prepared for crowds going in. Weather wise from May onwards it just get's hotter & more humid with each passing week.

Hey all! I can't believe that it took me so long to go looking for a May, 2015 thread. Especially since I've had our 2015 trip booked since the day the rates came out (and planned before ever leaving our 2014 WDW trip). We're headed to Disney for our 21st trip and are staying a whole two weeks! :cool1: Our grown daughter, her husband and her in-laws will be joining us later on in the trip.

Our dates are May 23rd to June 6th and we are staying at Caribbean Beach Resort again. :hippie:

We are visiting on 5/2-5/9 and very excited! Although I have been before most if our group are getting ready for their first visit! Have no idea of the possible discounts. I see free dining has been offered in the past and I hope it is again.

I had a pin attached so when I called to book I saved $700! The pin just attached this morning they said! So happy! Really doing the happy dance!!!:woohoo:

What's a pin? (Sorry!)

How will you go about doing that?

A pin code is a unique code that is sent out to potential guests randomly. Nobody really knows how a person gets selected to receive one. The pin code can be used only by the recipient. Disney will tell you that the pin codes will be sent out via email or snail mail only but it's also possible that you have a code attached to your name and you never know about it until you call. You can simply call and ask if you have a pin code associated with your name. If you do have a code, you can ask that it be applied to your reservation or book a new reservation using it.

I was surprised to come across this thread because I would have sworn that I subscribed to it already?!? :confused3

DH and I are taking dd for her first trip over mother's day. We will be there 5/6-5/15 and will be staying at POR.
