The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

All this talk about the Egyptian gods, and I recognize most of the names from Stargate. :lmao: When Ben looked at the writing in the temple and the drawing of the god, it was so Stargate!

I have to agree that the best line was Ben's "I didn't have time to talk you back into killing yourself". That episode really gave the actor an opportunity to show a wide range of emotions.

How many more episodes is there this season?

Yep, that or Indiana Jones, the first or 3rd, not sure. Anyway, I LOL when Ben said that to Locke, that statement was awesome!;) There were a few things he said that had me going..Whoa! LOL! Michael Emerson is an AWESOME actor, as is Locke's actor!:thumbsup2

The other option to Locke being dragged into the temple is that the monster showed him A LOT about the island, including the temple. It can obviously show you things as we saw last night, and maybe that's what happened to Locke...that would also change you a bit.

Some Like it Hoth

The Variable

Follow the Leader

The Incident (2 hour finale)

Final episode this year is on May 13.

If the 2-hr finale is 2 hours in one night, does that mean there's a recap episode somewhere?

Here are the air dates I found:
April 15th - Some Like It Hoth
April 22nd - The Story of the Oceanic 6 (sounds like a recap - is that when a big sport event is going on?)
April 29th - The Variable
May 6th - Follow the Leader
May 13th - The Incident (parts 1 and 2)

After re-watching the first 5 minutes of last night's show I really feel that Ben totally knows who the "bad guys" are and what's in their trunk. He also knows that they know that there are hostiles already living on the island, and that's why he planted the idea of Lock not being on the plane. Just my feeling from the tone of his voice and the things that he said and how he worded it all.
what's in the box?
would you like some help?
well, have a nice day (with a simple little smile)
That kind of stuff.

So I just finally was able to watch this week's Lost. Man, what a great episode. Nice change of pace from the 70's and time travel. Love love love that John Locke is back! He was great in the beginning then kinda got a little wussy but now he's back. Love that Ben actually fears him. And finally, I'm so glad that they let us viewers be happy about Desmond and Penny. Now I'm going to go get caught up on everyone else's comments over the last few pages.

I think leaving him alive WAS the punishment. They are letting him live knowing that his actions killed Alex.

This was what I thought also. I think it would have been better writing if he said "it made me live" instead but I think his tone conveyed it quite well.

When Ben was seeing the faces in the smoke I kept thinking "there's no place like home." :teeth: It reminded me of the Wizard of Oz.

I thought that too, and assumed it was a little inside joke, since, you know, the whole Henry "I came here in a hot air balloon" Gale thing that Ben tried to pull. :rotfl:

Now I'm just wondering if Ben will actually heed "Alex." Do you think Alex represented the island, or the smoke monster, or something else? As for Ilana and them, I had the feeling that maybe they got infected by the same thing as Danielle's men? It kinda seemed that way. Next week's preview looks pretty good too.

Oooh, I forgot about that part of the show. So either the Losties are gone from Dharmaville by the time young Ben is healed and sent back, or somehow the Losties DID change the past.;)

Sorry....I just had to throw that in there for all the "what happened, happened" and "you can't change the past" believers out there!:lmao:)

I'll send you a cookie if you are right, but I find it far more likely that he goes back after they're gone or that he was *gasp* lying.:thumbsup2

I took the whole "what lays in the shadow of the statue" as code. Kinda like Desmond and the whole snowman thing he said to Locke when he first saw him. So, if was part of them he would have known the response. I think they are in 2007 and it was just some sort of code.
That's exactly what I think too.
However, what the heck is going on with them? Are they with Whitmore? Who else would have had the knowledge that this flight was going to crash on this island? Is this another attempt by Whitmore to destroy the island? Instead of going in with guns blazing he attempts to sneak some people on?
I think they're with Widmore...and he supplied them with guns and c4 just like the frieghter.
Glad Ceasar is dead though, he was getting on my last nerve!! :rotfl:

TOTALLY!! I love it when they kill annoying characters...it's like them saying to us, yeah we don't like him/her either!
What the heck was up with Frank? Um, it's the middle of the night on a freaky island and you are just going to abandon a safe place to row across the water in the dark? Yeah, that made lots of sense. :headache:

Oh, and who knew that you summoned smokey by letting the water out of the bathtub? :rolleyes1

The Frank thing was killing me. I was like, seriously? You're gonna paddle that boat back to the other island all by yourself in the dark?!

DH said that too about them being infected. I think they're with Widmore...that's what the code phrase was all about...

Man I loved the one liners and the gasping moments--Ben's I didn't have time... and Caesar being shot.

And now I want to know what the upper levels of the temple look like!

I think these 316ers (is that the right flight number? I'm getting them all messed up!) are Whidmore's people, and I think Ben knows it. That's why he's acting kinda weird around them, making Locke out to be a crazy man, and he shoots Ceaser without even thinking twice....

Remember a few episodes back where the 815ers were travelling through time and in one scene they were in the canoe, it was raining, and then they were getting shot at. Ben now has a gun and a boat....makes me wonder if it is Ben/Locke/Sun shooting at them at some point - maybe not knowing who they were shooting at? Who knows!

I loved seeing this HUMAN side of Ben. He has feelings!

I don't think of his punishment as a slap on the wrist. His daughter appeared to him and threw him up against a wall, knowing his plans, and told him he couldn't do them, but instead had to do the EXACT opposite of what he wanted. I think that's pretty heavy for Ben! Death would have been easy in comparison.

I like that we finally know, at least to an extent, what Smokey is! He's the judge of the island.

I was a bit annoyed by Frank leaving too. Paddling all the way back in the dark, and walk through the stinkin' jungle. NO THANKS! However, did you notice he left in the dark, and then arrived at the second island during the day?

VERY interesting about the Egyptian gods! I don't know squat about them, it fits in with all this really well...

I thought the "draining the bathtub" to summon Smokey was a tad cheesy....I wonder if it has a deeper meaning, or if the creators just needed to think of SOMETHING.

April 22 is a summary type of show-I read that somewhere on a blog.

I had another comment, can't remember what it was...but I gotta get to work! :goodvibes Can't wait to come back for more Lost chit-chat!

Amy, I saw you on the survivor thread as well. DH and I were talking Thursday that since watching LOST, that survivor just doesn't seem nearly as interesting anymore. I don't know if it is just this season or if the Lost writers have just spoiled us.

I think Alex was a manifestation the same way that Christian is a manifestation. I just wonder if Locke is also a manifestation or if he is really resurrected?

Could be, but
If Ben was shooting at them then he knew who they were. He is evil I tell ya!

I'm really interested in Ilana (?whatshername?). I've felt all along she never planned to take Sayid to Guam, was it? I just thought she was working for Ben, as a way to get Sayid back since he wouldn't go voluntarily.
Hmmm. I was thinking she worked for Eloise but Ben would make much more sense. I am switching to Ben.

DH just texted me. He is watching reruns on Sci-Fi while I am at work! So not fair!!!

A couple thoughts from watching the last few shows.

Could the list Ben made have something to do with remembering the Losties from the Dharma days?

Did anyone else hear the names the Other said to Richard when he said they would be mad? I thought he said Charles and Ellie (as in Eloise Hawking maybe?)

I'm still wanting to know why Sun didn't time travel back like the others and where Rose and Bernard went.

Yes, that is exactly what was said, and I also took it to mean Charles Widmore and Eloise Hawking.

Alright, I'm subscribing! I've been a LOST addict since Episode 1, and I've converted many, many more people into the LOST craze! I think it's good to have people to talk out the episodes with and play off each others ideas. I'll be reading everyone's thoughts and hopefully adding a few of my own! :thumbsup2

I just got the book The Lost Chronicles (from the first season, with a DVD) yesterday for $2.99. Bargain! :woohoo:

Yep, you're prob. right. After seeing all the scheming and lying that Ben does, whatever they do on Survivor pales in comparison!:happytv:

I still can't figure out who Ilana works for. At first I thought it had to be Ben, then I figured it must be Widmore. That big crate of stuff.....I'm sticking with Widmore. Maybe she's working for him, and there are all kinds of guns and ammo in the crate so he can re-take the island away from Ben????

I was thinking that at first, and that is why the Others knew their names whenever they would "appear" in the jungle and also some of the whispering was their names as well. But, then there was a bit about Ben loosing his memory...so I don't know anymore. Maybe Ben reports it to Richard who does remember?

Yep, exactly-Charles and Ellie. I took it as Charles Whidmore and Elosie Hawking as well.

Do you think Eloise is on the island? Or is she the one that Charles had a baby with off-island, which was against the rules and got him banished? That would make Penny and Desmond brother and sister - at least half brother and sister.

Maybe Eloise is always off island, but working with the island?

So many random ideas, it will be so much fun to watch it all play out!

That still wouldn't make Desmond and Penny related. Eloise is Daniels mom not Desmonds ;). I don't think Penny is the daughter of Eloise.
