The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

That is what it says now. On Wednesday, it still had her listed as Horace's wife. The bit that you quoted from the website has been newly added(since Wednesday night).

Ahh ok. I didn't even know that site existed until I read this thread haha! I was searching through characters last night and saw that. :)

I am going to say that I for sure don't think its Jin. There's no way they had an Asian baby.

I'll say it again. Daniel said it himself. Desmond is special, he can change the future, no one else can. He is the ONLY character that has actually changed anything. Everything else already happened.

The story isn't about how it will end (meaning the purge), it's about how we get to that point. I don't think the last episode will be the first one, I think we'll move beyond that somehow. But the story right now is explaining the island's past--Dharma's past, Ben's past. it happens to be the Losties present, but it's the writers way of explaining the past without flashbacks so that we can move on to the future understanding the past.

We know there's a purge--but that is all we know. We don't know why, we don't understand the relationship with Dharma and the Hostiles, we don't know Ben's motivation. We're in the past to learn all of that.

When this is all over--you guys owe me a cookie if I'm right. :thumbsup2

And remember my theory (and Daniel's since it's the same) leaves room for varibility because of Desmond--it's the writer's tool to fix any inconsistances. :goodvibes

You are much better at expressing my thoughts than I am :lmao:
Which is my way of saying I completely agree, that's what I've been thinking too.:thumbsup2

I have a headache thinking about all this time stuff. Everytime I think I get it, I get Lost again ! :rotfl:

One question for those who have a better handle on it: Do you think that the time will eventually get back in sync, so everyone will all be at the same time?
How else would we get Ben and Locke back with everyone else?

Also I just had this thought, if Locke had to go thru the special door to fix the time (caused by Ben going), then who would have done that after Widmore went?

I think everything will eventually be in sync. Locke's supposed to fix things; but I have no idea how.

I really hope they go back and figure out Rose and Bernard. They can't just abandon them; I don't really care about the other Losties that they've ignored since the flaming arrows, but I do hope they explain what happened to them. They must either have gotten taken into the Others, or maybe they ended up with Dharma as well?

Jin(1974)
Hurley(1977)
Charlie(1979)
Boone(1982)
Paolo
Neil Frogurt
Nathan(from the Tailie section of the plane)
Karl
Keamy
Liam(Charlie's brother)
Randy(Hurley and Locke's boss)
Jason(Kate's boyfriend, attempted to rob a bank with Kate in New Mexico)
Eddie(undercover cop who Locke picked up as a hitchhiker and befriended)

What about Ethan? He's my pick.

How else would we get Ben and Locke back with everyone else?

I think it definitely will, but they'll make us wait for it. I wouldn't be suprised if it's next season.

Also I just had this thought, if Locke had to go thru the special door to fix the time (caused by Ben going), then who would have done that after Widmore went?

Maybe it didn't break when Widmore when through? I didn't think that was a normal thing, but it only happened that time. Maybe Ben did it wrong. :lmao:

I was thinking that for some reason, all the other people on the island weren't traveling through time, and they just stayed in the present. Although then that would put them at the same time as the new plane crashers? (Locke, Ben, etc.) But if they're on the other island yet, maybe they just haven't found them yet. Maybe the pilot (and Sun?) will go to the main island and find them there? I just never got the idea that they were flashing, too, only Sawyer, Juliet, Daniel, etc.

:lmao:
BTW I think Keamy is way too hot for us not to get more info about him! :thumbsup2

Well, from some of the stuff that Kevin Durand has said it sounds like he may be popping up again!!!

Yeah...Lostpedia is like Wikipedia. It is an editable website. Meaning anyone can contribute information. So things can and do change often on there.

Also I just had this thought, if Locke had to go thru the special door to fix the time (caused by Ben going), then who would have done that after Widmore went?
My understanding was that when Ben went through the special door, he knocked it off it's axis because he wasn't meant to go through there. Locke was. Once Locke went through, it made everything right again. So, I imagine when Widmore went through, he was supposed to.

Also, on the time travel thing. Here is a direct quote from a transcript of an Official Lost Podcast from 2/28/08.

" Damon Lindelof: Just a quick sort of side note in terms of the way that we deal with time travel on the show - we are very paradox averse; that is to say, when our characters are time traveling, nothing that they do can change the present or the future that you have seen. Which is different than you know, the conventional Back to the Future time travel story telling."

So, there is no going back to the past to change the future. BTW, Damon Lindelof is an executive producer of Lost. Here is the link to the transcript page

What about Ethan? He's my pick.
He would be too old. The baby boy would be roughly 27 years old at the time Flight 815 crashed on the island. There is no way that Ethan is 27. At least, I don't think so. He looks too old.

I guess I can accept that in the context of Lost, but I don't agree with it. That's not how time travel really works. ;) :rotfl: (BttF is one of my favorite movies. :thumbsup2 )

And see, I think Jin is too old. (Not to mention the wrong race.) And Karl is too young. I really don't think Ethan is outside the age range.

But didn't the island time go really slowly when they were waiting to hear back from Desmond and Sayid while they were flying to the freighter? So if the island time is slower he's going to appear older than he really is. So even if ethan looked older than 27 it could because he was on island time.

They have Jin's birth year as 1974. A couple years before the baby was born. Karl's age is indeterminant. He appears young because he was dating a 16/17 year old. A good question to ask is how did such a young man get to the island in the first place? He wouldn't have been born on the island. If he came with one of his parents, where are they now?

You really think Ethan could be in his mid to upper 20's in 2004? I don't see it.

I read a guess that maybe they are the Adam and Eve corpses that the Losties found in the first or second season in the caves where they found the water...I guess they had black and white stones in their pockets and they would definitely be familiar with the caves...I hope its a bunch of hooey.

Well, from some of the stuff that Kevin Durand has said it sounds like he may be popping up again!!!

Sweet! :cool1:

Hmmm. I would think if island time were slower, he would appear younger than his actual age. Not older.

Nope, because if each hour of our time is 2 of theirs he'd be almost double. Soooo woops island time was faster! I've got a nasty cold and feel really stoned even though it's just the mucus crushing my brain haha....not much I type is going to make sense today.

Okay, now I'm confused.:lmao:

Another strike against Ethan is the fact that he is a Doctor. By the age of 27 he could have finished Medical school but would have gained sufficient experience for the Others to want him to join them?

I am really interested in the statue and the other Egyiptian themes going on in the show. I would love to take credit for the research but actually got it all from another web site. The statue they saw in their last time flash is similar to an Egyiptian god of fertility. The example I saw even showed that she had four toes. The necklace Amy took off Mark her dead husband before he was taken by Richard is also an Egyiptian symbol. Add to all that the hyrogliphis in the Swan Station on the countdown clock, the ones at the wheel Ben and John turned and the ones around Bens secret room at his house in the compound and there is a lot of it going on. That leads to the final question which is it has been noted every where that Richard Alpert has what looks like eye liner on and according to historians both males and females in the Egyiptian culture were known to where it. His initials are RA, Ra was the Egyiptian sun god. Is Richard an ageless god who has been on the island forever?

These are the kinds of things that keep me thinking about this crazy show all week long till the next episode comes on.

omg that's a great theory.

Ok, I just went and looked at a picture of Ethan. I haven't seen him in a while, and I agree that he looks too old. :lmao: I don't know, then. I have no opinion now.

I see it this way. There's world time and personal time.

World time is 1973, 1974, 1975, etc. Usually, you would remember something from 74 when you're in 75.

Personal time is age 31, 32, 33. You would remember 32 when you're 33.

But in time travel, everything gets mixed up. So you'd rely more on 'personal time' to figure out when something happened.

Actually, I must have posted this on the other thread... I think that the statue is Anubis--the Egyptian guardian and judge of the dead. He is holding an ankh (also the necklace is an ankh) which is the symbol of eternal life. The countdown clock said "underworld" according to what the writers said at comicon I don't think that's a spoiler, but better safe than sorry.
Plus we've got Horace--Horus is the god of the sky and has a LOT of parallels with Jesus (which has been coming up lately).

(BTW I figured out all the Egyptian stuff myself, but I researched and confirmed it all and then to my joy http://lost.cubit.net has a great article. And it's not a spoiler--just more of an easter egg.

Nice catch with Ra!! Love that.
But I think the eyeliner is cuz he's a pirate from the Black Rock. Both of which got brought up in the last episode, with Sawyer's shipwreck cover story and his eyeliner guy joke.:rotfl2: :cool1:
