The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

Last night's show was awesome!

For the first time I was starting to think that maybe Locke is now evil!!!! How can he just accept that Ben killed him? Why in the world would he want to kill Jacob? Maybe he is out for revenge and that is what he meant by he now has a purpose on the island. I think Richard was right....Locke may be now be "trouble".

Why didn't they show us the new guys at all or the pilot for that matter?? Where were they?

It was great to see Sayid again. :thumbsup2

How the heck does Sawyer, Juliet and Kate get off the submarine?

So they evacuate the island in 1977 but then there's still the purge several years later?

So many questions, so few answers but I still LOVE it!

I agree - it was great to see Sayid show up. Got to tell ya - I let out a gasp when those shots rang out. For a moment, I thought Kate had gotten hit. Not sure I would have minded though - she's getting on my last nerve too. If she messes up the Sawyer/Juliet lovefest, I will officially hate her!

I can't get over how much the young Charles really does resemble the old Charles. These producers are very spot-on with their hiring!:thumbsup2

And did anyone else notice the young Charles put his hand on Ellie's stomach as they were standing over the body of Daniel? Is she pregnant with him at this time? Just think that's really freaky that the adult Daniel is lying there dead on the ground and is also growing inside of her belly.

K here I am eating crow...sort of...before the episode is even over...

The writers have deviated from the whatever happened, happened thingy because there is no way they will kill off the people they just said would be dead in 2007...no way...so the future is gonna change...

which makes the show a lot more interesting, especially for the rest of this season where I was sort of disappointed to feel like I knew everything...

Anyway...wanted to get this on here before anyone else stops by!!! :teeth:

TTY tomorrow!!

To be fair, even though I disagreed with your view of time travel, in this case we only know that RA says he saw them die - but we don't know if that's true or if it happened exactly as he says. We'll have to wait and see.

Although, for a second, I thought Kate was shot when Sayyid took out that Other. A little of me said "Oh no!" "Oh good"

And did anyone else notice the young Charles put his hand on Ellie's stomach as they were standing over the body of Daniel? Is she pregnant with him at this time? Just think that's really freaky that the adult Daniel is lying there dead on the ground and is also growing inside of her belly.

I didn't catch that at all, but somehow you could feel that she was already pregnant.

I didn't catch that, but doesn't that not work with the age Daniel would be in 2004? I was assuming he was already born and was a child on the island with Eloise and Charles. I kept saying, "Where's little Daniel?"

Daniel was supposed to be a professor working on the time-travel stuff in 1996 when Desmond went to Oxford and found him in The Constant. So Daniel was supposed to be "the youngest person to get a PhD from Oxford" (even though he still looked 40 in the graduation scenes! :rotfl:)--so say he was 21 when that happened in 1996. That would make him 29 in 2004 and he would have been born in 1975--already born and on the island when Eloise shot the adult Daniel.

So unless Daniel has already been born in 1977 I think they've messed up with the age stuff. Not only does the actor look way too old to have been born in '77 (he was actually born in '69), but there's no way a person born in 1977 could be a professor at Oxford in 1996--unless LOST is going for Doogie Howser here and is expecting us to believe that Daniel went to college when he was like 10!

Yep, I noticed that. I tried really hard to hear where young Charles and Ellie were saying, but of course I couldn't hear a thing. She also seemed too calm; I mean, she just killed someone and then found out that it was her own son that she killed. Shouldn't she be freaking out a little bit? Unless she firmly believes that whatever they're going to do with the bomb WILL change things and then Daniel won't be dead?

And I wish they'd stop with the love quadrangle already! At first, I really didn't like Juliet, but Kate is really getting on my nerves now. I wish Kate would leave Sawyer and Juliet alone!!!

1. Who is Richard Alpert and why does he not age? He's an advisor. I think he serves as sort of a priest similar to the priest the pharoah's had in egypt
2. Who is Jacob and why did he say "Help me" to Locke in season 3?
3. What is the statue?
4. What is the smoke monster?
5. What is the deal with the Black Rock?
6. What's up with Christian Shepherd?
7. Why is Locke so important? He's not. He just thinks he is LOL!
8. Is Claire Dead?
9. Who are Adam and Eve we saw in season one and what's with the black and white stones they were carrying?I think this is Rose and Bernard
10. Who exactly are the hostiles and what is their purpose on the island? To protect the island and to worship someone or something?
11. Wher are Rose and Bernard?see question 9
12. Are Sun and Jin ever reunited?I hope so
13. What are the voices you sometimes hear in the forest.
14. What's up with the numbers and why are they cursed?
15. What was the purpose of Alpert's visit to John when he was a child? To see if what John told him in 1954 was true
16. In 2004 why was the island still getting Dharma shipments of supplies?
17. Dainel says that becasue of the incident the "Swan Station" became known of as the hatch were Desmond pressed the buttons but what was the original purpose for the Swan Station???I think they said defense station?

Please if you already know the answer to any of these through spoilers and such do not share the info!;)

Yep!

I didn't notice that but will watch for it when I watch again.

I agree. Daniel graduated college in 1994 so he would have been 19 if born in 1977. But perhaps they had another child????

It really bugged me when Richard said he watched them die (referring to the losties). If he does watch them die then it kinda spoiled the surprise for us didn't it? And if he didn't, well then it blows the what happened happened theory!!

I suppose the suspense will be when & how they die? Do they die in 1977 or during the purge?

It really wouldn't bother me if Sawyer, Juleit, Jack, kate, and Sayid die because they are already heroes for one reason or another and sometimes heroes die being a hero. But I really want Jin to be saved just to be reunited with his wife and hopefully his child.

Doesn't it seem that every leader the others/hostiles have lets the power go to his head? First Widmore had a family outside and felt he could come and go as he pleased. Then Ben...well we all know Ben let the power get to him. And now Locke - he wants to kill Jacob?
I personally think he is bluffing or he means kill to mean something other than what we think of.

I'm so confused?!

I thought I heard Widmore question Ellie's plan of leading Jack & Kate to the hydrogen bomb by saying something like, "Are you sure that's a good idea in your condition?" That's not an exact quote because I have a crappy memory, but I could have sworn he said something like that. So maybe she's already pregnant.

That's what I thought he said, too. Do we know for sure that Penny is not Ellie's daughter? I mean, from the episode last week it didn't appear so.

You mean I was right and the future CAN be changed?!;);)

That's what I'm saying--IF RA actually saw them die FOR SURE then there is no way that future will happen. You can't kill off almost every single main character all at once.

And I've always said that the writers could decide that Daniel's theory didn't ALWAYS have to be theirs...it's their show they can make up whatever rules they want. Especially with Daniel's crazy episode--I have a lot less faith in them sticking with their original rules--plus I've always felt that while they do have room to keep the whatever happened, happened thing going--time travel is usually more interesting if things can be changed.

Yes! Especially being preggers myself--I said to DH--"Look at his hand, she's totally preggers."

Add me to the list of the Kater's (Kate Haters ;)) She's never been a favorite of mine, but I can't stand her getting between Jimliette...

It's not my view of time travel--it's Daniel's and the writer's/creator's. And they blew that up last week when Daniel added his varible thingy (which I think is stupid).

RA could have easily THOUGHT they all died when they really were moved forward in time. There's a ton of wiggle room there.

But I just wanted to be the first to say that IF RA really does see them die FOR REAL, then the future pretty much has to be changed...

I agree. Daniel graduated college in 1994 so he would have been 19 if born in 1977. But perhaps they had another child????

I think 19 is plausable--we're talking about Daniel here! The kid whose mom won't let him play piano cuz he has more important things to do. I think he easily could have been graduating from college at 19.

Or maybe it's Penny in her tummy...

That's what I thought he said, too. Do we know for sure that Penny is not Ellie's daughter? I mean, from the episode last week it didn't appear so.

No, we don't know for sure. But we do know that Widmore was banished from the island for having a family off the island. And Ben referenced something about him having a daughter off island. I think it is a natural assumption that Penny was the daughter they were referring to. But then again Lost does seem to purposefully lead us down the road of wrong assumptions. :rotfl:

I think the writers know EXACTLY what they're doing - hence why they made a big thing about Daniel being "the youngest person to get a PhD from Oxford".

Actually it appears that the youngest person to get a doctorate from Oxford was Ruth Lawrence who was actually 17 when she got her doctorate in Mathematics.

Maybe that was their intention in terms of how old Daniel was supposed to be in the graduation scene. But if so, they did a horrible job with casting! With Eloise and Charles they have different actors playing them in their teens, 40s, and 70s because a 40 year old just can't look like a 16 year old.

No way in heck is the guy in this picture http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:Dangraduation.jpg passing for 16!

There was something odd like that with Charlotte too--she had two different birth dates such that either she was 24ish or 30ish in 2004. (The actress was actually 30ish). I wonder if they run into trouble with the time-travel and the ages of actors vs. the ages of the characters. Recently reading Lostpedia I realized that Sun apparently was only supposed to be 24 when the plane crashed. I had been assuming she was around 30 at that time--definitely at least a few years older than Kate--because she just didn't look 24 to me at all (probably because Yunjin Kim was born in '73).

I'm not sure why the ages bother me so much. I just always find myself thinking people look way too young or old for how old the show is saying they are. It's weird because the show is usually so good at consistency and even at making the younger versions of characters look exactly like the older versions.

Love the term "Katers"! Sign me up!:thumbsup2

Think we need to work on that name for Sawyer and Juliette though. Doesn't really roll off the tongue! :lmao:

I was wondering if it was Penny also. But as a PP pointed out, there was absolutely no connection made in last week's episode between Penny and Eloise at the hospital. Even if Penny hadn't seen her mother in many years, surely we would have gotten a hint from Eloise that she recognized Penny.

So, I'm back to thinking she's pregnant with Daniel.

I was confused after watching last night...now after reading through this I'm even more confused! I think I should go back and re-watch the series...

I feel the same way. Especially after it was revealed that Ethan is Horace and Amy's son, born in 1977. When the Losties meet Ethan in 2004, he is supposed to be 27. There is no way that guy is 27. 47 maybe, but not 27.:lmao: I know someone mentioned before that time is different on the island. Maybe that is why some people like Ethan and Daniel look older than their actual age.:confused3

What if Locke isn't "Locke" but Jacob? And he is saying that he is going to kill Jacob to see who will join him? He could be like Christian and Alex after they were killed, maybe? I'm wondering if they are all Jacob in a different form or not. I don't think Jacob can be killed since he isn't a real live 'person'.

That is not penny ~ Elle is not penny's mother

Remember when charles got kicked off the island by Ben?
Ben explained that Charles left and had relations with a woman off the island... I am betting that is penny's mother.

As to Locke Killing Jacob? I think we are going to see this mysterious group (shadow of the statue group) come in and do something to stop Locke from killing jacob ~ just a hunch but I know there will be a lot more about this secret group as we will get a nice tease right before they end the season:lmao:

I agree with this, and I think that group was sent by the Dharma Initiative after Locke blew up the communications station. I think we'll see the three factions (Dharma, Others, Losties) all fighting for control.

I also agree with whomever said that Adam and Eve are Rose and Bernard. I've thought so ever since I rewatched the episodes (after being introduced to the "time" ideas) and saw the black and white stones in the pouch that was with them.
