The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

I was thinking it might be that when the island goes back in time she may be at two places at the same time. She is there as a child and there as an adult also.

Did you notice that when Daniel saw that Charlotte was bleeding he ran to his bag and looked in his book of notes. He then went to the hatch and told Desmond to look for his mother in Oxford.

Oh wait! She was there as a child? I didn't remember that! Well, that blows my theory! :crazy2:

At the end of last season, Charlotte was talking to Miles (or maybe Daniel) and either she or they mentioned that she was still looking for where she was born. That's why a lot of us think Charlotte was born on the island.

That was the same woman who appeared to Desmond when he first started having his flash forwards. She told Desmond that if it was someone's destiny to die, then that someone would eventually die no matter how many times they saved them. (Think "You're gonna die, Charley.")

Episode: Flashes before your eyes

Fionnula Flanagan. She also plays the mother on Brotherhood

That was the communications officer named Minkowski(played by Fisher Stevens). And you're right. He did have a nosebleed right before he died. He died because he didn't have a constant . He needed a constant(something or someone that is present in both times) to "attach" himself to normal time.

OK, so what about all the survivors who don't have constants? What will happen to them as the island continues to hop around?

Since most of them are tied to each other, maybe that has something to do with it.

I hope they address why Ben turned out the way he did. What happened to make him turn against the entire Dharma initiative? The guy that brought him and his dad over seemed to have a good relationship with him. Young Ben had a girlfriend. His dad hated the DI so wouldn't that make Ben embrace the DI? I want answers!!!! :happytv: Something had to have happened to Ben.

DH thinks that when Ben was a teen, he got his girlfriend pregnant. No one in the DI would help them. They just wanted to run tests and experiments. She ends up dying. Now Ben hates the DI and becomes obsessed with succeeding in finding the solution to the pregnancy problem whereas the DI couldn't. But that scenario is completely in our minds....

Thank you! That's what I was missing. I couldn't remember the constant. It's weird that only she doesn't have one though, isn't it?
She may have a constant. She just doesn't know who or what it is. If you remember back to the episode when Desmond first got on the freighter. He was sorta skipping through time. He had to make contact with his constant(Penny) in his normal time to make the skipping stop.

I have a feeling that if Charlotte has a constant, it is one of the others. Or even Ben.

They will probably begin having the same symptoms as Charlotte until they make contact with their constants. Or they are are each others constant.

Anyone else hoping we might see the original island inhabitants? The ones that made the big foot with the weird number of toes? That's what I was thinking with the flaming arrows.

Yes I want to know what is behind the smoke and monster, etc.

This show is good but so mind boggling. :scratchin

Didn't Ben see his dead mother on the island; then he also ran into Richard Alpert who essentially convinced him that Dharma was bad and if he wanted to reunite with, or see, his mother, he would have to eliminate everyone associated with Dharma? I'm pretty sure it was Richard who convinced him to commit the genocide.

Really enjoyed the show. I'm not sure about Sun. She said she doesn't blame Kate, but I think she is using Kate to get her revenge for Jin's death. I think Sun's the one that wants the blood sample, because she wanted to get Kate on the run.

I do think we're going to find out Jin's alive. That whole "believed to be dead" line seems to be pushing us that way.

Its a long ways until the next episode. :sad1:

Yes, it is!! Way too long! :hourglass

It's great to have the show back, and for a full season! That ought to help with keeping things at least a little more straight this year.

First, with the review show, I thought it very strange how Charlie has been surgically removed. Makes me wonder if there was bad feeling with his departure. I mean even Hurley, saying how he's talking to dead people, but they don't show Charlie, who was the dead talker in question. And then all the many other scenes he was carefully edited around. What's up with that?

As for the show, it was mesmerizing as always, but time travel stuff really does give me a headache after a while. Death/life, past/present/future, good/bad, it's all very murky on this show.

It struck me, as Juliet and Sawyer were hiding in the bushes and those military men were coming, how the plane survivors, when from a different perspective, are really like the others seemed to us not that long ago. Dirty and mysterious.

Interesting theories and thoughts everyone. I always enjoy reading them, especially written by people who have better memories than I. :goodvibes

I didn't watch the review show, so I don't really know. But, Hurley has spoken to Mr. Eko as well.

It was weird how they never showed Charlie during the VW bus scene. But I think the dead guy they were referring to was the bald guy Hurley used to talk to at the insane asylum. Hurley started to see him on the island also. Forget what his character's name was but he played Harry, Charlotte's hubby on Sex & the City.

I think his name was Dave.

I think Charlotte was born on the island. I keep thinking she may be the daughter of Annie, the litlle girl that was Ben's friend in the DI. I've read that she's supposed to play a big role in future episodes. Could she also be Ben's daughter? THAT would be wild! It's all soooo confusing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't mean to imply, as I know I did, that Charlie was the only dead talker. :)

DH and I just finished watching the premiere, we totally forgot about it last night! Don't even ask how that is possible, seriously, but it happened. At 7:00 we were all excited and at 9:44 we were smacking ourselves! I blame it on the kids who were still up at that time...

Loved the episode, as usual, and all the theories! I do think Sun is using Kate, and also think Charolette may be Ben's daughter. And I have a feeling Jin is still alive. :goodvibes Oh, and I think that lady in the church is Daniel's mother. So basically I agree with everything you all have posted. :p

OK....I have only read a few pages back....I just wanted to comment on Last nights show...
