The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

just finished watching and WOW!! The LOST hour wasn't long enough. As always they left me wanting more. Can't wait for next week.

UGH! I was helping my DS with homework and didn't watch! And my DVR did NOT tape it! Does anyone know when they add the episodes to the abc.com website? It's not showing the new episode, but has all the others.

Marsha

They put them up the next day-so you won't have to wait long! :goodvibes

Claire's boyfriend (and Aaron's dad) -Thomas was an artist. One of his paintings was in Widmore's office when Desmond visited him.

Below left is a picture of Thomas with his painting from season 1. And right is when we recently saw Des in Widmore's office.

You want more of a mind screw? Here is a picture of Thomas and someone else you might know-

Thomas, Aaron's father

And this guy-

OMG??

Is that the same guy with a lot of photoshopping or makeup magic or is it his kid or what????? Eww.

OK, for those of us who've been bashing Sun for leaving her child behind, anyone feel better about her after last night? I started laughing when she smacked Ben upside the head!!! :rotfl2:

I guess a few questions have been answered, but nothing too earth shattering last night. I'm still confused though why Sun ended up in a different place that the rest of the O6???

Also, anyone think that Sawyer intentionally gave Jack the custodial job to put him in his place? Instead of Jack being the big man on the island, it's Sawyer (er, Lafleur) now! :lmao:

I am absolutely LOVING the fact that Sawyer is in a position of power over Jack. Jack the custodian:rotfl: I have a feeling he is going to have a hard time "playing" along! The preview for next week's episode looked SOOO good!

Oh Sawyer definitely put Jack in his place in more ways than one. I thought the comment about people dying was a little harsh, but you know, it was true. Jack was told time and again that he shouldn't leave.

And Sun staying behind, what does that mean??? Maybe she did something she shouldn't have (aside from leaving her daughter behind). Maybe she has ill intent towards the island. I can't wait to find out why she didn't go with the rest of them, and what she has to do to catch up.

Here are some of my thoughts about last night's episode:

LOL when Dr. Candle/Chang was processing Jack and said that based on his aptitude test he was going to be a janitor! Let's knock Jack down a peg or two! :)

LOL again when Jack went to visit Sawyer that evening and Sawyer made it quite clear that HE was in charge now, not Jack, and that their situation required thinking, not acting.

And it was quite obvious that Jack wasn't thinking when he went to visit Sawyer in the first place! Did you see how that one Dharma guy (Phil?) was looking at Jack, like "why is he visiting LaFleur?" For 3 years Sawyer et al have been living among the Dharma folks, and you watch…..Jack will do something stupid and totally blow their cover.

Something about Kate's name being left off the list of new arrivals: do you think Juliet did it deliberately? I mean, Sawyer told her that Jin found Jack, Kate and Hurley, and Jack's name was on the list. I'm sure Juliet feels threatened now that Kate is back in Sawyer's life; maybe she wanted to scare Kate a little?

So Horace and Amy's baby is Ethan; whoever predicted that was right!

And young Ben is already on the island. I wonder if Sayid knows that it's 1977 and that the young Ben who brought his sandwich is the nasty Ben he knows from 2004? It doesn't look like Sawyer or Jin had any time alone with Sayid to explain the time-travel thing, but Sayid is intelligent enough to know that something isn't right - he knows Dharma was wiped out some time ago, and now he's in the midst of them. Wonder how Sawyer will get Sayid out of jail? He got Sayid to say he's a Hostile, so they can't kill him or that'll violate the truce. Maybe Sawyer can get in touch with Richard to turn Sayid over to him, and somehow convince Richard that Sayid is an ok guy?

As for Sun and Frank, what in the world was Sun thinking?? They're walking on the dock on the island, she sees the trees rustling in the jungle which means that Smokey is out there…..and she tells Frank that "it's nothing" and keeps on walking toward it! Hellooooo! Smokey KILLS people, honey! What's going to happen now that they met up with Christian? Will Christian find some way to get Sun back to 1977 and reunite her with Jin? Or will Sun be the person who will save the Losties and get them back to the present time? Or is Christian up to no good and will end up killing Sun and Frank?

On the other hand, way to go Sun with smacking Ben with the oar!:thumbsup2 Since we saw Ben lying in the bed in the makeshift hospital the 316 survivors set up, we knew he didn't go to "the" island with Sun; I was wondering what happened.

I think Daniel's dead. Sawyer mentioned that Daniel said there were things they could and couldn't do, and Jack asked if Daniel was there, and Sawyer said "not any more."

Here's a wild thought I had this morning: somehow, Sawyer et al have to survive the purge, or else they wouldn't be alive in 2004 to crash on the island, right? What if somehow they were helping Ben kill off the Dharma folks in 1992? Remember, they were all wearing those hooded jumpsuits and gas masks when they wiped out Dharma, so it's quite possible the Losties were involved.

Maybe Sun and Ben are stuck together because they both went back for selfish motives? She would not have gone back if there weren't a chance she might find Jin, and well, we all KNOW Ben is back there for his own benefit!!!

Hmm, that's an interesting point.

As for putting Jack in his place: maybe Sawyer had another motive, too. By making Jack a janitor, he can pretty much go wherever he wants on the compound and be inconspicuous. So in a way, Sawyer was kind of helping Jack. (I DO think he also wanted Jack to be quite sure that Sawyer's the guy in charge now, though.)

I didn't think that Sawyer was responsible for Jack's assignment. I thought that when Juliet picked up the list Amy told her that there were two that didn't come because they didn't want to take the sedatives and I assumed that Juliet swapped their names with Jack's and Hurleys. Then she had to add Kate's later. :confused3

And I have no idea why sun is in a different time than everyone else. Maybe she didn't recreate the original crash exactly as Eloise said they needed to. :confused3 I thought she was Rose though since she was holding her husband's ring.

I don't think Daniel is dead. I think he went crazy and that is why Sawyer said he isn't with us anymore. I hope Sayid figures everything out and is ok. I feel really bad for him right now.

I respectfully disagree with the time theory in your last paragraph. Sawyer &friends don't have to survive the purge to be alive in 2004 to crash on the island. They crashed on the island before they went to the 70's. Time is still happening. And their lives are still happening (they are aging) but not together if that makes any sense. Because in the 70's Hurley hasn't been born. Yet he is there.

Hmm, that's an interesting point.

Great idea. I like the theories that don't make Sawyer out to be just the bad guy. This one makes him doing something good even though everyone else sees it as bad. Thanks!

Now that we know the baby is Ethan. We also know he survives the purge. Ben must recruit some Dharma people to help him and continue to stay on the island. I don't like to think that our losties had any hand in that, but who knows, it could have been them. :confused3

I loved it when Sun hit Ben with the oar after she got the info. she needed. A little taste of his own medicine. :rotfl:

I'm sure Sayid figured out the boy was a young Ben, just something in the way he looked and said it was nice to meet him makes me believe that he put it together.

I can't wait to find out what happened to Daniel and why Sun is not in the same time period and how she'll find them!!!

See, this is what I just can't understand about the whole time travel thing. If the Losties are killed in the purge with the rest of the Dharma Initiative, then they WON'T be alive in 2004 to crash, and then they won't do all the time-flashing stuff and they won't go back to the 1970's to join Dharma and die in the purge. Basically, if they weren't alive in 2004 because they died in the purge, then how could they go back in time to the 70's so they could die in the purge? I'm so confused!

Actually yes its quite possible for them to be alive in 2004 if they do die in the purge which happened back in time.

As confusing as that sounds, I know what you mean! :rotfl2: I understand both theories of the time travel, but none of it makes much sense to me!

Think of it like this. To the losties they have already been in 2004. Let's take Sawyer's life for example

1969 - Sawyer was born
2004 -when the plane crashed he was about 35 years old.
Then all of the time shifts occur and he ends up in 1974 at age 35/36.
1977- Three years later he is 38/39 years old. Yet he is also 8 years old somewhere off the island.

So in 1977 you have an 8 year old Sawyer who will grow up to be a con artist and will take flight 815 and will crash on the island. And you also have a 35 year old Sawyer who is living on the island. To the 35 year old Sawyer he has already experienced the crash in 2004.

As Daniel said "What happened, happened"

The only way Sawyer can change him taking the flight is if he leaves the island, finds his 8 year old self and changes the actions of that Sawyer.

Does that make things clear as mud?

The time thingy might be easier if you stop thinking of time (the year it is) as linear and just think of a persons life (experiences) as linear.

For an individual (like Sawyer in the above example) first he experienced 1969-2004, then he experienced BEING in 1974-77, as well as all those other places in time during the flashes.

That is exactly right! :rotfl2: I understand it, yet it's inconceivable, kwim?

I just LOVED the shot of young Ben where he looked so evil. That was the best.

And I'm happy to be not the one explaining time travel this time! Thanks!

Daniel is definitely not dead in my mind. I think he left and is on his own--heading to the Orchid where we saw him in another episode. I think he might have been kicked out of the Dharma group when he scared Charlotte...

Was it just me or did that episode just fly by? They usually do, but this one seemed moreso.

And the whole Sun having bad intentions or not being "with" the island doesn't work for me, cuz why would Christian help her? And I think his "I'm Sorry. You have a very long journey ahead." quote was telling.
