The *OFFICIAL JUNE 2011 THREAD* "Some Like it Hot" & Some Like it Even Hotter! Part 2

One week and my house is a mess. I'm in between washing every single item of clothing we have and switching all of the winter/summer clothes. It's still been chilly here some days so I haven't put everything away yet.

This week I have to finish laundry, buy toiletries and summer pj's and clean my house before I can think about packing. I brought my suitcases down from the attic and cleaned them out, I can't wait to fill them!!

Plus, DD is still doing soccer try-outs and we have to sign her and DS up for their summer sports camps before we can go.

Geez, I'm exhausted already. Can I please go on vacation now??:lmao:

This morning I will be busy transferring our stuff from the guest room bed into the suitcases! That means it's almost time for vacation!!!:cool1:

Report from the World! We landed in Orlando around 8pm, and headed to the hotel, AKL. Let's just say we are not pleased with this resort this time. We were given a handicap room, which we didn't need nor wanted. We had to go change rooms and wait about half an hour for that. This morning, right when the club lounge opened, we decided to get breakfast, but our cards wouldn't process, and it took them 3 different times for it to process correctly. So we're not crazy about AKL right now.
On the bright side, we arrived at MK right as the rope show finished, and walked onto Peter Pan, Pooh, and BuzzX2, Pirates, and then cooled off at jungle cruise and philharmagic, had lunch, and now we're relaxing in the room. I totally understand now why everyone here tends to go at rope drop!

Got home late last night.
It was hot. For those going I would recommend getting to rope drop. leaving around 1 then heading back later in the day.
We were able to get on most rides early in day.
To us it was very crowded.(we usually go in Sept).
This was our first trip staying off property. We were only about about 10-15 minute drive from parks. There were some days we didn't make it back in the evening simply because we had to drive. It is so much easier to let Disney do the driving.
We did have a great time.

I hope things at akl improve for you. It's one of our favorite resorts. We haven't done cl before though. I hope it all works out for you. I am glad to hear that you could do most things at MK though.

Yeah, I am hoping it's just no hotter than last year in July when we went. I can take anything after that. I agree there is something just so easy about letting Disney do the driving when you have had a long hot day at the parks. Glad to hear it was fun for you though. We have 5 more days to go. We are just getting geared up.

You're all packed and ready; now it's time to cheer.
Hope your trip is merry and filled with special things.
And that you are surrounded with the magic that Disney brings!

Have a great trip everyone that is leaving tomorrow. :car: Safe travels and be sure to report back to us when you return.

Yup! Leaving tomorrow!!!,

Stuff is all packed and sitting by the door.....looking forward to dinner in Japan tomorrow night for Father's Day. :)

Greetings from Bay Lake Tower where we finally managed to get internet access in our room after having them send up a cable to us. Yippee! :cool1:

The adults have all made their way up to the lounge but I know the kids will be bored out of their minds up there so I am keeping my three here for another 30 minutes or so and then we'll head up. I am considering sneaking over to the Contemp and getting some desserts...nothing like getting the kids full of sugar and then keeping them up late! ;)

So I sent DH up with his family while I sit here...but I have the computer so I won't complain too much.

Today was our last Universal park day so we can't wait to just have a week of Disney parks now. I am missing it. Totally would have headed over there tonight if it was just me. I was half tempted to head the the MK last night, alone, when everybody was in bed just because I could but I know DH would probably be upset that I left him behind. Sometimes alone time is okay on vacation and aftet two nights of taking one for the team and taking the kids so he could sit around with his family and drink...I think tonight I may just wander the MK alone!

Anyway we had a pretty good time at Universal Studios today and got quite a lot of rides done...some even twice. Even headed to IOA to do a few more...Hulk and Spiderman...before heading back to our room. Man those showers feel GREAT after sweating all day long and I really do think the extra asphalt and lack of shade at the Universal Parks makes them so much HOTTER!

We fixed sandwiches back in our room and had the rest of the family over for those. After we spent $100 for the 7 of us on lunch I wasn't up for spending money on dinner.

I think Mommy needs some chocolate...and I know we can get some at the Contemporary so I think we'll head there and then the BLT lounge!

We're home from a wonderful trip!!! We had a great first stay at Bay Lake Tower (can you say "AMAZING!"). I came home to 108 degree temperatures, so I want to go back to WDW to cool off!

This was the first trip we've taken with our kids without grandparents along. The boys did great, and we were able to get so much done despite the heat and crowds! The biggest glitch we had is the boys caught a stomach bug in the middle of the trip . They were both down for about a day each (not at the same time). So DH got some one-on-one boy time in the parks with each of them while I stayed in the room with the sickee. I'm a little bummed since I missed out on some things, but I was so grateful to be in a DVC room with access to a full kitchen and washer/dryer! Plus we had a nice view of the marina and water pagent, so it wasn't too bad in the room.

Hope everyone there now and getting ready to go has a wonderful time! I've enjoyed planning and "talking" to you all! :goodvibes

Most of my toiletries are packed....

Still have to clean...

Still have to enroll the kiddos in summer sports camps...

DD made her soccer team again (sigh of relief...). It's always scary for her to try out every year b/c there's a chance she won't be with her friends again.

Headed to FIL's lake house tomorrow.

Happy Father's Day to all the awesome Disney Dads out there!!!

It's getting closer! I am getting really excited. There is so much to do though. I have packed most of the kids' clothes in their suitcases, we bought juice boxes, cereal etc, for our trip down in the car. My DH has most of his clothes folded. I have not even begun to pack my suitcase yet. I have toiletries done. That is about it. Tomorrow more :laundy: and more :laundy: and then maybe will be able to start packing my suitcase. Tomorrow night we are going to Sakura for Father's Day. It's a Japanese steakhouse much like Teppan Edo. They even do the same things at dinner. Isn't sad how my mind immediately goes to Disney? I just hope it's good and that it brings me one day closer to Disney. :yay:

We just watched a video we bought about all the Disney parks. We spent most of today talking about what we wanted to do next Saturday (our first full day there) when we're at Epcot. We're having breakfast at Cape May and then walking into Epcot. I'm hoping that this will impress DH enough to allow us to maybe start staying there in the future. Either there or the Contemporary. :lmao:

We have been watching lots of all about Disney videos on Netflix. We have each picked our top 5 must do rides and top 5 must do attractions. My 2 1/2 year old just picked two things riding the carousel (she doesn't remember much from last year) and eating with Cinderella. She was easy to accommodate. We are trying to contemporary for part of our trip this year. We have not been there in years. I will let you know what we think.

Woo Hoo! 48 hours from now we will be at the airport!:cool1: I'm pretty sure all my friends and neighbors want us to get out of town...it's supposed to cool off a bit and we're supposed to start getting some rain on Tuesday. We're joking that we have to leave town for the weather to improve!;)

I got everything into suitcases yesterday. Now all that's really left to do is check-in tomorrow morning and pay the airfare for the bags! Oh, and a manicure/pedicure are on tomorrow's agenda too!:thumbsup2
