If we have an ADR at Chef Mickey's the night of the 4th, is there somewhere we can go to watch the MK fireworks from CR? Or a better spot (without venturing into the park)? :-)

Besides the Poly beach because I've heard rumors of them closing to resort guests only...

I am thinking of ways to do "Mickey on the Mantle" for my kids. THink Elf on the shelf....but, with MM and totally Disney Related. Sorcerer Mickey is our fave. so, I think I will use the one we have for a more 'magical" fun time. My kids are older... but, I think they will get a kick out of it. What a fun way to pass the time maybe. I am thinking about ordering our Disney Hats etc. and having our Mickey "deliver" them one night on the kitchen table. Dorky? Fun?

All this talk about the crowds is getting scary now. I've been so steadfast 'nothing is going to ruin my honeymoon' but now I'm really scared about these crowds. We are doing MK on July 3rd and have a late lunch ADR booked and have Wishes Dessert Party booked to ensure we take a break in the middle of the day and hopefully to avoid the firework crowds but I'm still scared now. I'm aware that it is just going to be a 'do whatever you can' sort of day and we will take it as it comes but these comments are seriously scary?!

On the 4th we are doing Epcot with an ADR booked for lunch and an ADR booked for a late dinner as we are booked onto the DiveQuest tour that day and then plan to stay into the evening to see the fireworks there ( but I'm hoping because of the size of Epcot the mass amount of crowds won't feel so awful or scary?)

Have we made a terrible mistake.......up until now I've just been really excited

P.S I would happily stay away from parks on those two days but fiancé is adamant he wants to see the special fireworks!

This is exactly what we are planning but without Divequest or any ADRs. In fact we are locked into MK on the 3rd now as friends are joining us and they are only at Disney for one day, being the 3rd, and they want to spend it at MK.

While I have planned Epcot for the 4th, I'm now wondering if we should do DHS that day. Not because there is any reason not to do Epcot, but we have never been to DHS for any fireworks due to the seasons we usually travel in.

I'd be keen to hear anyone's thoughts on Epcot vs DHS for Independence Day and also whether we need to plan to hit our park of choice first thing and not to leave until the end of the evening in case of capacity closures or gridlocked traffic. Any thoughts?

Oh my gosh!!! That is so cute!! Disney should sell that!! I wish I had kids so I could do fun stuff like that :) :)

On a July 4th note... For anyone planning to do EPCOT that night pretty please don't try to park at the Boardwalk. We stayed at the BWI for our July 4th trip and we drove over to AK that afternoon to do some quick shopping since we were checking out on the 5. When we got back the resort lots were Soooooo full we were forced to pay to valet. We had a room on the boardwalk, so after the fireworks we sat there and watched the HOARDS of people walk out of EPCOT and to the parking lot. We were annoyed, but at least we only had to pay for valet for one day.

Sounds BUSY!! I think seeing 4th of July fireworks at Disney would be awesome! :-)

My husband and I always eat at 1900 Park Fare and watch the fireworks from the GF beach on the 3rd. We know Poly may be a better view, but we like to avoid crowds (as much as we can). We have never been disappointed with our view from there. :)

That's a thought too...we'll be there on the actual 4th. Do they pipe in the music?

We were there for the 4th last year. MK closed mid afternoon. We saw the fireworks at MK on the 3rd. They definitely were an amazing sight and not to be missed.
We went to EP on the 4th and didn't even stay for illuminations bc it was so crazy crowded. :(
I think we'll do the same this year- MK on the 3rd.

Whereabouts at POR were you? Thinking of booking 5 nights there...

We stayed in the mansion closest to the AB. It was a regular room that wasn't far from the quiet pool and was a short walk to the food court. Probably my favorite resort we stayed at.

For all the snowbound Northerners anxiously awaiting their July Disney trips!!

I really enjoyed this... He has talent... Thanks

Yes, we do.

I remember when I was planning our first trip back in 2001, I was obsessed with reading the trip reports on MousePlanet. Now I hardly ever read trip reports. The videos on YouTube are just so much better.

Right - I am taking a crash course on DLR by watching you tube videos.

Haha, youtube is awesome! I've used it to plumb in a washing machine, fix a food processor, replace a broken screen on a phone and tile and grout a bathroom floor, among other things. At least with vacation planning you're not twisted like a contortionist with gloves on using your toes to operate the mouse to start/pause the video :lmao: I think I might just rate youtube even better than Google :faint:

Yes they do!! :) Although, I have sensitive ears and the noise bothers me. I wear earplugs, so I don't hear all of the music but I can hear it slightly.

Your absolutely correct. It used to be glue A to B tada you're finished or nail A to B tada you're finished. Now it's a package of 122 pieces and I hope when I finish it works.

Thank goodness for You Tube, I need visual aids..

Awesome! How early do you need to stake out a spot you think? :-)

I have to jump in and say we are officially booked! :cool1:

After going back and forth we decided to go with CBR and are sticking with the 13th to 20th. I've already changed some of my ADR's around and still trying to figure out some things between PL and other activities so once I get everything set again I'll post.

And to think after I get this straight I'll have to start working on FP+ :scared1: As if I'm not overthinking everything as it is - wonder how many times I'll be moving those around next...

Lol. Sounds like me! I am part of the RC thread (resort changers) thread due to my indecisiveness. My DH threatens divorce every trip I think because of all my changes. :-) But I just want everyone to be happy and enjoy it! :-)

We started out talking about returning to AoA. Then DS(4) keeps talking about the Toy Story room but DH said he didn't want the All Stars again and he wanted to go up to a moderate. He was pretty much set on CBR but then I was bringing up POR and kept going back and forth. He finally said just book CBR! So I did :) We'll see if it sticks now. Hopefully discounts will come out soon... I keep bugging to find out if I have an PINS but I never do :( My mom did but of course it didn't cover July dates. I asked the CM on the phone to put in a good word for me - wouldn't it be nice if it worked that way?

Last year started at CR, then AKL, pirate room at CBR, POFQ...I think that's it...we ended up at the Poly. :-) we weren't supposed to even go this year, but I got a good deal on GF that I couldn't pass up...then somehow I got POR in my head and am pretty set on switching as long as DH goes along with it. Pretty much same price, but with an extra day! Now I'm playing with dates too to maybe be there on the 4th to see the fireworks at MK...yes, I am certifiably crazy. Lol
