Thank goodness it's Saturday! Happy weekend all! I have been playing around with my ADR choices and park days. So difficult when you don't know the hours yet. ESP when braving a holiday week like the 4th... But sooo much fun to think about! :)
Have a great weekend

I do this all the time! The trouble is, we have our favorites we go back to every trip for dinner, which means fewer opportunities to try new places. We're planning to do something we've never done before...spending the first day snacking around Epcot instead of a traditional TS lunch or just one place for a CS lunch. We'll share different things, and end with a treat from the bakery in France or Norway, depending on which end of the WS we start. But I did fit V&A's into our plan! The only thing DH is not thrilled with is that jackets are required for men at V&A's, but we were talking about it the other day and we're gonna go there for sure! We can't pass up the TIW discount there since they're no longer accepting TIW as of August 1, 2014. We will regret it if we don't take advantage of the discount while we can. Plus, as DVC members we get 15% off the kids' clubs at the resorts so that also helps. We'll bring the boys to the kids' club at Beach Club Resort since it's right near BWV so that makes it the most convenient for us. Our other choice would be the one at the Poly, but I don't think DH wants to trek around in a jacket for longer than he has to. I could just walk them to Beach Club myself before we go.

I'm also glad it's Saturday. We're going to a block party this afternoon. Block parties are very big every summer here in Brooklyn, where they close off the block to all traffic and it's just a huge party with things for the kids, and everyone sets up in front of their houses. Our friend is having one today and the kids should have a blast! We used to have one annually on our block too, but the lady who organized it moved to Florida and no one else wants to do it...it's a ton of work, getting the permit from the city, organizing everything with vendors, collecting money from the neighbors, etc. Very time consuming and stressful.

Monday is my niece's 10th birthday so tomorrow my sister is throwing a family party for her. Can't wait for that! :)

I'm soooo glad you guys decided to go for V&A... That will be amazing! Sounds like a great weekend. Once a year our town has a "founders day" it's the beginning of September on a Saturday. It's a 5 min walk from our house and everyone goes. They have so much food & vendors, music and games. I easily spend $50., on nothing! But, we love it.
I've asked the boys which restaurants would you like to go back to and it's: Ohana dinner, HDDR, Sci-Fi and floridian cafe (which they really liked on our MK day). Hopefully I can get them to knock off one from the list because there are so many new ones I would like to try... Narcosees, CP, TH, and Teppan Edo. We love food and it's a big part of the experience.

Happy Saturday to ALL

Just found these pictures of Midori when she was little. Had to share them..

Same for us, food is a biggie on vacation! :thumbsup2

Founders day sounds like a lot of fun, right up my alley!

Aww, she's beautiful! Precious!

Another week just about gone! I can't believe October is in a few days~ were we all not just talking about BTS? Now Halloween & soon we will be wishing eachother a happy new year :) ! Hopefully everyone had a great week.
So before I go to the boards and ask this I thought maybe one of my friends here might have a thought... In may we stayed at POR, we loved it! But, as you all know I'm thinking of trying something new & I think it will be CSR. Here is my thing. My ds13 (will be 14 soon) is a very serious guy w/little personality :( he doesn't laugh much and always seems stressed out. On our WDW trip the 2 times I saw him react like a teenager (laughing the whole time, I wanted to cry) was HDDR :) and so at peace and relaxed was pole fishing at POR. He actually will say the pole fishing was one of his favorite things he has ever done in his life. For that reason alone I wanted to rebook POR but, all 3 boys said they would like to try something different.
I'm thinking of taking a resort day & going to Fort Wilderness to let him fish. Is that allowed? Is there things for my other 2 to do while he does that? Anyone have any other ideas? The fishing excursion cost hundreds of dollars & it would be a waste for my other 2 boys. Just curious what you all think... Thanks!

Thank you so much for the amazing welcome!! Our Disney story is a little different than others, but here it is!

My first family trip to WDW was the year we lost my dad to cancer when my sisters and I were 16, 14, and 11. We couldn't bear to be home for Christmas. It was the first time we felt like we could smile and laugh again and we were able to begin healing. Three years later we went back as a family and it was amazing. I could feel my dad there and I felt like I was home. We stayed at the Poly and one day my mom and I walked over and peeked in the Wedding Pavilion. I declared that I would be getting married there one day.

Seven years later I had been dating a guy I met in college for three years and we decided to take a vacation to WDW. He fell in love with it, too, and I fell in love with him even more after seeing that he also loved my happy place. (I actually overheard him singing 'Be Our Guest' in the shower the first night :) ) Three years after that we had our dream WDW wedding and honeymoon!! We have tried to go back each summer since then for our anniversary. We have not been blessed with children, so we sometimes go alone, or my mom and sisters join us. And, as always, my dad joins us in spirit every time :)

That is a fantastic story, thanks for sharing. I just love hearing Disney stories. It makes the magic even more real, hearing how they fell in love and kept the love alive, even through some sad events. Again, welcome to our group!

I have a semi-weird question for you. Your clip art picture, do you or did you do gymnastics? My daughter is on a competitive team. Just wondering.

Aw, thanks!

Not a weird question! I did actually take gymnastics when I was really young, but then Mother Nature slapped me in the face and I grew...tall!! So I focused full time on dance for most of my life. I guess that picture does look a little gymnasticy, but it's supposed to be a dancer :) That's so cool that your daughter is on a competitive team!! I was always glad I grew because I don't think I would've had the nerve to continue, seeing the things they do and go through!! Good for her!!

Hi everyone! Welcome new July folks and I love the stories!! :)

This was, yet again, a busy week at work. I've given tests to all 5 of my classes no I'm swamped with paperwork. Yesterday we were in the middle of a fire drill when I noticed a school bus starting to pull out of his spot right by where a lot of our students were standing. The back of the bus swung over the sidewalk and our students quickly moved out of the way. No one was hurt, thankfully, but I wrote down the bus number, phone number to the bus company and recorded the time. I had to write up a statement and submit it to my principal. It's so scary. I mean, this is someone that many parents trust to bring their children to and from school every day and he's too impatient to wait to pull out when that area is filled with kids? :headache:

I'm a teacher too!! :) I know on the June thread for this year there were many of us who were teachers. I guess when we have such limited options for when we can travel we all end up going at the same time :)

I also wrote 'glad everyone was ok' but I don't know what happened to those two sentences!?!? Silly IPhone!!

Thought you guys would share in my excitement. We are at 18 days until Disney and 19 days until MNSSHP which the kids are most excited about. After missing most of it last time (my son got sick in the early evening so we didn't stay long) we can't wait. Woohoo!
