 I miss our group!

I do too! If there's a July 2015 group already started I'd like to join it, even though we're going to DL next July instead of WDW. If there's not a group yet, I'll look for it soon!

Me too! Did I see you in the June 2015 group? We are planning to do a land and sea package! We are booked on the Fantasy on July 4th but are planning 4 nights in WDW before and 2 nights after!

Wow a cruise and WDW, that's terrific! Sounds like lots of fun for sure! :)

I was just thinking that this morning too. We are back in full swing at school and I miss my fun, carefree summer days talking Disney with my DIS buddies :)

Doing the "Happy Dance"!!!! Leaving for Aulani on Monday!!! Booked WDW for January... Maybe going on four night cruise on Dream with my sister and family in May!

DD starts last year of college on Sept 2. It looks like I am not returning to my school this year due to budget cuts. Maybe I'll go work for a Disney... Lol "SingingMom" ....Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

We go back to work on September 2nd...always the day after Labor Day. The students start Thursday September 4th. I'm already working on the 2015 production of SING, the student-run musical. Scripts are already being written! But I'm trying to enjoy the next couple of weeks before I go back. I'm so used to going to sleep so Kate and waking up past 9am, it's going to be very tough getting up at 5:00 again. I am fortunate, my kids sleep late in the summer!

You have some wonderful trips planned! I'm just happy to be planning next year's California trip but it's still more than 11 months away! All we have before that is an overnight in Lancaster, Pennsylvania Columbus Day weekend. We do that every year. The boys still love Dutch Wonderland. In fact, we are going there on a day trip next week! And they have Dole whips...something to look forward to without having to wait for Disney! One of the first things DS9 asked me when we told them about California and Disneyland next summer was if they have Dole Whips at Disneyland, lol! He was very happy when I said yes!

Enjoy Aulani and also planning WDW in January...less than 6 months away! :)

We have crazy plans for next summer. Our plans are to buy a house and move in the second half of June (right after we get out of school for the summer), then in July send my DD to a specialized gymnastics overnight camp in the middle of PA. It is a week long and costs about $1000-1100/week! :sad2: :crazy2:  While she is away, my DH and DS and I will go to one of the amusement parks somewhere in our area. We are trying to decide if it will be Hersheypark, Dorney Park, or Six Flags, we just aren't sure which one yet. The only other thing, other than unpacking the house, is maybe do a day at Knoebels. We shall see. We wanted to do a cruise, but I think that is out with the new camp for the girl child. That camp and new furniture is about as far as I can stretch my money (barring a lottery win! :rotfl2: :lmao: )

I go back to school, and so do the kids, on Sept 2. My DS has a freshman orientation on August 28 and I will go in to see some of the freshmen, but not in an official capacity as I am not a classroom teacher. It is only a 1/2 day for them.

I definitely recommend Hershey Park! They have many roller coasters if you are into those (I think they have 11 of them!), but there is also something for everyone. It's a nice clean park too! And of course there is the chocolate world ride outside of the park, which is free!

We are heading to F&W for Columbus Day weekend. :)
DH and I will be in Disney for a few days for Feb. vacation. I think we'll be driving in April for spring break and return in July.
Those are our Disney plans for next year.

Fun to read everyone's new plans. My DH and I just booked a kid free anniversary weekend trip for November. My in-laws will watch the kids for four days while we are away. It's a short trip. But it will be so nice to get away by ourselves. WE booked AKL CL for our stay. I'm done with ADRs but have to wait for our fast pass window to open in September. Not that much longer though!

I've decided to book again too! Actually I was scheming to find a way to come back during the drive home from Disney last month....lol. My mom and I are planning a mother daughter trip October 2015 so we can do Food and Wine, and also the Halloween party!

We won't be heading back until November 2015. DH said no more summers and since we have done Halloween parties in the past, next time will be Christmas :) We do have Disney on Ice coming up on December which I splurged for front row and we will see what else comes up. Right now the big project is finishing the basement!

We LOVE AKL CL. We loved walking around the resort so much. I'd go back JUST to stay there.

Love everyone's new plans! Is there a July 2015 thread yet? Although we will be going to DL and now WDW next July, it would be great to pop in and say hi to everyone, and then join the July 2016 thread when we book that trip! ;)

I have 2 more weeks of summer vacation. The time just flies by, both every school year and the summers too. I can't believe my kids are going to start 2nd and 4th grade already, seems like yesterday they were babies! My niece is starting 8th grade, so in a year at this time she will be getting ready to begin high school my other niece is starting middle school and she is very excited. And my baby nephew is about to be 8 months old at the end of August, and he is so much fun! My mom and I are also in the early stages of planning what to do with the family to celebrate my sister's 40th birthday coming up in February. She doesn't want a party, but we are tossing around some really cool things to do together. It's a lot of fun planning it! I can't imagine how my mom feels having a daughter about to turn 40 when I feel the way I do about having sons going into 2nd and 4th grade! :)

Although I really enjoy my summers off with my kids, I'm looking forward to this school year. DH is starting a new position, Coordinator of Student Activities (COSA) at his school, in addition to already being the athletic director in charge of the sports program which he started there a few years ago(they never had sports teams before that!). He is also very excited for the school year because of his new position. It's very nice when the extra things we do at school involve the students who do those things because they want to be there. It's a very pleasant experience, and shows us how hard they work to manage it all. Some of my best students with the highest grades in my class do the most extracurricular activities as well, and they get it all done. Amazing, truly amazing kids! :)

Wait til your kids are a senior in H.S. And 8th grade!!! :( I feel so old and I don't know where the time went. Someone told me that high school goes by in a blink of an eye. I believe that now. I'm so stressed about applying to colleges.

Oh my, a senior in high school! Being a high school teacher, and teaching a subject with such a small percentage of our students taking it (italian), I have taught students for all their high school years in every level of Italian they studied. It goes by fast for me, their teacher! Every year it is so bittersweet watching my students graduate. I am so happy for them and so proud, but I always miss them also. You'd think after teaching for 15 years, it would get easier but it doesn't. They are all truly amazing.

I'm sure you will get through the college application process just fine. Everything will work out! Our kids in NYC have to apply for high school too. The school system is a mess as far as that goes...thanks to our former mayor Bloomberg, kids are no longer guaranteed a seat in their zoned school close to where they live. Now, they can get placed on the opposite end of brooklyn or whatever borough of NYC they live in. And to give you an idea, Brooklyn is so large, that some kids travel 90 minutes each way via public transportation without choosing to do so. It's really a mess and I hope the zoning goes back to the way it was. Many years ago when I first started teaching, students who applied and got into programs at high schools outside their zoned school, and didn't succeed at those schools because it was obviously not the proper environment for them, we're transferred back to their zoned high school. In many cases, those students ended up doing so much better in school and they graduated on time. Now, we can no longer do that so those same students are stuck once they begin 10th grade, when the academics get tougher. Some of them just give up, cut classes, misbehave, cause trouble, etc. We do not have the power in the schools to have them transferred unless they literally pose a serious danger to the entire school, and even then it's not easy. If a student "simply" fails all his/her classes, there is nothing we can do but look for ways to "get the student to pass the class". However, a student cannot pass if he/she never shows up to class. I really wish it would go back to the way it was. I'm not saying it was perfect, but at least if we had that part back, I think the students and the schools would all be much better off, and the application process itself would be a lot less stressful for the students and parents who do care.

whoohoo, Hi family!

One month ago today, we were at HS. We rode ToT, watched A&E's welcome show. Rode GMR, Did the Art of Animation building, Character Palooza, Had Mickey Bars. Took TONS of pics at the Frozen Fun section. DD8 answered questions about the movie by the stage, Watched the most amazing firework show ever!! Ended the night with a Fantasmic show. Best.Day.Ever.
