I'm staying at POR and I know the bands are given to everyone staying there since September 1st. I keep looking but nada so far.

When I went in September, one day it just gave me the option to customize my magic bands and they just appeared. I don't remember how far in advance but it wasn't much. Maybe 3 weeks? But that was in the testing phase so it seems that everything has changed now. I don't think you have to link tickets either. I never did since I booked a Disney vacation package through Disney. About a week after I received my magic bands, I got the letter in the mail inviting me to participate in the test. Lol. My advice would be just keep checking for them and one day they should appear!

Hi everyone! We will be going in January too! Our dates are Jan. 15 - 28. We will be staying at POFQ. We couldn't decide between POFQ or POR. We haven't stayed at either so it didn't matter to us. We will be taking our 17 and 11 year olds. Since DH and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary we are getting the DxDDP. I'm so excited! I can't wait to go back and read about all your planning ideas! Its so close.....woohoo.

We are there from January 30th for 2 weeks staying at Saratoga springs. Free dining including 12 character meals DD will be thrilled.

I hope we get magic bands. I just love the idea.

And Magic Bands with FP+ should be fully rolled out by Jan 1st so we *should* all get them.

I don't think your mb will be mailed out to u like they are in the states though. We are from Canada and they won't mail them here the lady I spoke to said we will maybe have to pick them up when we check in? But not sure...

No it's very different here in the UK for months they offer free dining. We got free dining, SSR at 35% discount, 14 day park ticket for the price of 7 and a $200 disney gift card.

What a great question, I would like to hear about everyone's strategy. We are going with my sister's family so we have to sit down and plan this out for kids ages 3-11.

Saw this on my MDX homepage today -

It's a very cute little video from Edna Mode (of the Incredibles) that walks you through using the website. It showed magic bands and FP+, so I'm assuming they are preparing for the full rollout here soon.

I still don't have magicbands linked to my account even though I have a package and everything is supposedly already "linked," but I'm also well outside of 60 days so that may be why.

I took a screenshot but I have no idea how to upload pics, and I'm really not interested in using photobucket. You'll see if if you log into your MDX, it's on the header bar.

We're not going to DHS and I haven't researched the FP+ for AK yet. We have 2 days at MK so I need to figure those out! I'm hoping that since we are doing several character meals I won't need to do the FP+ for meet/greets.

I have the same problem my reservation says I have tickets included but then when I click on magic bands it says to link the tickets I am so impatient!

Here is a stupid question .... when folks inquire about the "free dining plan" is there really such a thing or are we talking about a discounted dining plan??

We went March of 2013 with free dining. You get your meals for free ( one table service, one quick service, and a snack on the regular plan). But you pay full price for park tickets and meals. Keep in mind especially for parties of six or more there is an 18% tip required at table service meals and alcohol is not included either. For us the tips for the meals were like 40 bucks each meal.
My one word of advice especially if you have kids is take a break from the parks for a couple hour break each day, it makes for less cranky kids and a more relaxed vacation.
Do character dinners. Do as many rides as you can. Do take time to look around. Don't get stressed about missing something or you will be stressed.
