The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

Good morning everybody! Nothing official YET? I kinda thought today might be the day.

Okay, is it just me or do those dates (Aug 26-Sept 22) seem like an awfully short time (less than a month) for Disney to offer a special discount? Would it really be worth it to them to bother with another discount for such a short time? Doesn't seem like the 2nd & 3rd weeks in Aug would be busy (or at least they haven't been in the past.)

Probably just wishful thinkin on my part since I was hoping for the week of Aug 18 or Sept 29!

Oh, well...guess I'll just keep my short May trip and plan a longer vacation somewhere else in Aug. Disney has my number. I'm the one that subscribes to everything, has a DV, shops with them on line, gives them all my hard-earned vacation time and money - and never gets a PIN or even a special discount that works for me. They know they don't have to - I'm comin' back anyway - full price!

I'm just like you, Barb! Almost every vacation is a Disney vacation; all of my "play" clothes are from disneyshopping.com or the Disney store; and DH and I each have a Disney Visa. But, no pins, codes or postcards for me!!

In fact, adding insult to injury, I keep getting discount postcards at my address - not for me, but for my friend's mother! Of course, I can't use them, and I've asked them to update her address, but I keep getting them!

So, free dining is my big "reward". It's funny, though, when they first offered free dining, I was stunned that it was actually real. I organized an extended family trip (21 people) and no one could believe it. We ate at all sorts of great places, all for free, and everyone was sure they'd be hit with this big bill at the end.

Then, when they offered it last year, I could not believe they were doing it AGAIN! Unbelieveable!

Of course, now I am not only expecting free dining, but would feel cheated if they do not offer it. Hmmm. There's a social/political lesson in there somewhere.

I've only received a card once and it was because of that card that we decided to visit disney for the first time. Now I can't get enough. We're going whether or not they offer free dining, but I can always hope.

I am waiting for Southwest to start booking for September. When will that happen? If it says the dining plan goes to 9/22 and I arrive on 9/21....do i get the dining plan for my 9 day stay?

just got an email back from her - she says April 12th. To be honest I really haven't been keeping up with the rumor mill on this as we aren't going until December so I'm not sure if that is the date everyone has been hearing..

Yep! In the past, its been based on check in day!

I have tried to convince DH and DDs to stay and watch this. So far they haven't done it. DH seems to want to rush to the bus as soon as we view Wishes. One trip I will just stay and watch the Kiss Goodnight without him!
Thanks for posting the video. I got my Disney fix for today. Yes, I teared up too. It is just so beautiful and so magical! I want to go now! I could live at Disney and never grow tired of it.

That's a great video, thanks! I never knew they did that, I will now add that to my list! If anyone wants to know about the song used for the Kiss Goodnight it's on the Disney Spectacular cd, I think it's Eric Kunzel as conductor.

Loved the kiss godnight, I have never seen this. I think that I have heard the audio as I was leaving in the past. I will have to try to check it out this trip!

Update Maybe??? I went to make a payment online and I got an error message that said

"We are currently updating our reservations system and cannot make changes or updates to your vacation at this time. Please try again tomorrow"

This doesn't really help me since I won't be leaving until 9-28 but this could be a sign for others.

Yes me too. Air fare through Disney's web site is just too much. Plus airtransway does not have many ns flights from PHL for us. Who wants to have a stop for a two hour and some flight?

I just got off the phone with a reservationist, I was hoping I have or be offered some sort of code ( no luck ) Of course I had to ask about free dinning too, even thought I knew what the answer would be.

I'm leaning towards Monday because if they announce it Monday, Disney Visa people would have T-TH to book (3 days, which is usually what they give them) and everyone else could book starting on TH (4/12)

Hope you are right!!! I already have our ressies (that will not change even if free dining is announced), but I'm waiting anxiously to hear about free dining so that I can make a ressie for my little sister to go while we are there. Free dining would REALLY help her afford this trip, so I am crossing fingers and waiting, waiting, waiting.....

$79 Dollars each way out of Allentown, Pa. to Sanford Orlando. 2 nice small airports not like Philly or Orlando
Did it last year and hoping again this year.
