The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

Friday! Just one week left of work before we leave for WDW!
I am so excited and so stressed at the same time. Gotta pack... and pack and pack and pack!

I have to start packing too! My DS's stuff has to be at the high school on Friday morning, but they don't leave until Tuesday. That means that I need to plan carefully so he doesn't run out of clothes to wear over the weekend, and make sure that he doesn't need anything that we pack in the suitcase and take to the school. It's been a while since I've packed for a week long band trip and there is quite a bit involved.

Plus, I have to pack for myself and my DS11. I think going in February presents it's own challenges, since you never know what the weather will be. When you go in June, you know you just need shorts and short sleeves and your done!

Finally in the 20's! Only 29 more days to go, and only 15 more days of work! I put in my two weeks notice this coming Thursday so I will have a week to get ready for my move to Disney World!

Is it bad that I keep coming back to the boards and looking up Disney stuff online? I really should be like watching my son (daughters are sleeping). But all I want to do is look at Disney stuff...

That is not bad at all! My work day consists of check in the board when I get in/first break/lunch/second break and right before I leave. Its a wonder I get any work done

I'm with you!! lol Luckily, I spend a lot of time just waiting for reports I've spooled to actually decide to print, so I live here while I wait.

Tyler Dean (DS) came into my room this morning when we woke up, and just grinned and held up 3 fingers at me. Okay, it's 5:45 in the morning... took me a minute of trying to figure out if he was throwing a gang signal at me or something, then I realized what he meant -- We leave 3 weeks from today!! WOOT!!

Aw man, another snow storm! It's been one a week this winter. I am praying to the weather gods that it skips a week for us. I don't want to lose my vacation time! Anybody else in deep fear of cancelled flights due to snow?

Yes! same here in NY, we keep getting hit! Lets pray to the weather gods!!!!

Yep, I'm worried about snow here too...we're flying out of Milwaukee...& I know at least around here the north gets whalloped a lot more. I did buy the vaca insurance too....

Marcy- hmmm I was planning on lining up on Main Street at 6:30pm- I may have to move that sooner now with the band starting then

If you snag a place on Main St. at 6:30, you should be OK....Oh, but just remembered, I think the night parade goes the opposite direction from the day parade. As in, I think it starts from the front of the park to the back. Hmmmm....

Allison - I still have no idea how we are going to tell them. They will go to school 1/2 day before we leave. They think we are going to the beach for my b'day!

22 days, which equates to 3 weekends before we are in FL.

My plans this weekend, go over my packing list, make sure I have all the travel size stuff needed. Still no idea on what type of clothes to bring, but that will have to wait till the week before we leave, and what the weather is supposed to be.

I pulled out Sleeping Beauty (my favorite movie) to watch tomorrow night.



Gina - what your DS did this morning.. I am doing to my DH every morning. First things I tell him is how many days.. I am sure he thinks I crazy

I have insurance to cover my flight but I don't have anything to cover my Disney package. I'm pretty sure I have until I leave to purchase it? After you're PIF, can you still get a refund if you cancel (minus the $200 deposit)? Or would I lose it all?

We'll be at the Poly from February 20 through the 26th. We don't know quite when we'll arrive as we'll be heading there right after the Daytona 500!

We will be there Jan. 31- Feb.6! We are staying at The Fort Wilderness cabins! We start the long drive next Friday, please pray for no more east coast storms!

We fly out of Toronto which, luckily, seems to miss all the storms. Our problem is that our planes or crew always seem to get stuck on the way to Toronto from a location that is getting hit. Two years ago we were delayed 2 hours and last year we were delayed 4 hours.
Our first year we landed at a decent time and got to POP! in good time, but when we went to check in they had lost our reservation. They had us booked in for the following month!!! It took 2 hours to fix it all up. We didn't get to the park before dinner.
Even though we book 7AM flights, we never have gotten to a park with the sun still up on our first day.
We are hoping (cross your fingers) that this year we will make it to MK by lunch time!!!

Well, with less than two weeks to go, my friend and I sat down and hashed out an itinerary, and we finalized our dining reservations. I think I changed ADR's five or six times!

Feb. 1- arrival, no dining plans, and no park time.

Feb. 2- DHS 7:10 pm ADR Ohana

Feb. 3- AK 5:30pm ADR Wolfgang Puck's

Feb. 4- MK 8:55 am ADR Kona Cafe 7:55 pm ADR Whispering Canyon Cafe

Feb. 5- Epcot 6:20 ADR Biergarten

Feb. 6- depart (too early!)

So excited that everything is now SET!!!

I also revamped our schedule after having everything set in stone for almost 6 months. But after looking at the per-park crowd levels last week, I saw that our Epcot day was going to be a 9! (the end of Pres. Day week). So I rearranged some days, made new ADRS (got what I wanted, but not always the exact time I wanted). Here's my new schedule.

2/24: arrive @ 10:30, hang at hotel then head to DTD ~ T-Rex for dinner
2/25: HS ~ Hollywood & Vine for lunch
2/26: AK ~ Tusker House for bkfst.
2/27: MK ~ CRT for dinner & Wishes
2/28: EP ~ Akershus for lunch
3/1: MK ~ Crystal Palace for bkfst.
3/2: ??? Probably Universal
3/3: Islands of Adventure -- hopefully MK for MSEP
3/4: 1900 Park Faire for bkfst. Then Home

I feel like our trip is way too short and that you need at LEAST 10 days for a first trip in order to see everything. Esp. since we don't plan on going back any time soon. We *could* add more days at the beginning, but that is smack dab in the middle of Presidents Day week and there's no way we want to be there in those crowds. Oh well, what can ya do? Such is life.

25 days & I have to add that this past week was the s l o w e s t week ever!!! Of course now I'm rethinking my plans....cause it wouldn't be a disney trip unless I revamped everything at least twice. So far I have

2/16 arrival, over to MK by lunch, CP dinner 4pm, Wishes dessert party. MK closes at 8, so we'll stay for the kiss goodnight & should be back at Pop by 9. With the early am flight we will probaby want to go to bed! I'm thinking we should be able to do Tomorrowland and some of Adventureland in the 5 hours we have to tour.

2/17 Epcot, dinner at Garden Grill. We will be here from rope drop till after Illuminations. Should be able to do all of Future World & some of World Showcase.

2/18 HS, rope drop & dinner at 50's.

2/19 AK 8:15 Tuskar House breakfast. - I think we'll do DTD this night, since AK closes early. Could hop over to MK?? Maybe??? not sure here. THe crowd prediction still isn't too high...whereas for the following 2 days it's really high? I'd almost rather go to MK for a few hours this night, and go to DTD on Pres day?

2/20 MK rope drop. BBB 1pm CRT 2:30pm. This is the high crowd day...BUT MK is open till 2am...so maybe don't arrive until the BBB ressie & stay late? Even if we do nothing until after CRT that gives us a full 11 hours in the park before closing?

2/21 If we stay till 2am the night before, we will sleep in..maybe do DTD & then head over to Epcot for a little World Showcase & Illumnations?

What do you guys think? My girls are finally old enough where a 2am EMH isnt' that far out of reach? The crowds have me a bit freaked out, I've been at Easter & they can't be worse than that!!!! I wish we had more than 6 stinking days...I hate dang high school...dd is missing 3 days of school & I just felt like I couldn't let her miss any more

it's just those first 2 days we have to get thru, which are going to be a 5 & a 6 at our parks, then the rest of the week should go down.

Okay, who else has "Disney dreams" before a trip?? They're almost never good... last week I dreamt we were at DTD and I fell in the lake, then last night I dreamt that I had forgotten ALL of my makeup.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has crazy pre-trip dreams!!
