The Official Emmy Awards PARTY thread!!!

Interesting show. Not particularly exciting, but it had it's funny moments. I actually felt somewhat embarassed/sad for Charlie Sheen earlier.

Night everyone, I'm off to watch Battle of the Blades now and then bed.

That was an exceptionally boring show. Hopefully the January shows will be better!

While I like many of the cabel network shows, I wish they weren't lumped in with the network shows. The network shows just can't compete with the budgets or the stars given to the cabel shows.

Maybe if I watched it, I would be more excited. But I think its dumb when one show wins EVERY category.

I don't watch it either but doesn't it kind of make sense when shows sweep categories? I think it's fine when they don't, but the emmys aren't supposed to be about popularity or spreading it around, it's supposed to reward excellence.

If a show is excellent, superior to its peers, then...

In other words - go Mad Men (and had it not been for FNL ending, I think MM would have taken much more).

Also - why is Kate Winslet always so over-the-top surprised and excited to win awards? Like... it's not news she wins them.

Also also, what in the ever living heck was Gwyn Paltrow wearing? Not that anyone needs more fodder to make fun of her supercilious *** but that outfit will not help your cause there, Prissy McGoop.

Well, Im completely underwhelmed. Show and fashion... eh..

Off to bed! Good nite all!

Plus how about the British shows? Most of them are toasted at Emmy time.

Sure they could.

The networks have massive, massive budgets, far more than many cable nets allot to their shows. Look what networks pay actors, compared to what cable nets do. John Hamm makes like 1/7th what Ashton Kutcher makes per episode, and his are twice as long. And he can actually act.

The cast of Friends was making a million dollars PER PERSON, PER EPISODE. That's more than anyone on any cable show has ever pulled in or even close.

As for the stars - the heralded stars go where the writing is, not the money. I'm pretty sure Steve Buschemi could get on some halfwit sitcom if he wanted to. He doesn't seem to want to.

That said, cable shows often build stars from unknown or largely unknown actors - because they can do that. Networks often also want names, cable often wants actors. Hence Jim Belushi on CBS, James Gandolfini on HBO.

Cable gets more heralded shows because they care to build more heralded shows, because it's how they draw viewers. They need quality - they can't charge advertising rates based on people didn't turn the channel after football. Hence Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, etc. Networks need people to leave the channel on. Hence... According to Jim, Two and a Half Men, Whitney, etc.

Is there a pic of dresses for any of the Glee girls?

There's these I found:

Nina Dobrev (of Vampire Diaries,) and Lea Michele:

Add me to the list of someone who has never seen Modern Family. The strange thing is that I was asked to preview that show and give my opinion of it. It is because of that I have never bothered to watch it. It didn't draw my attention then but I know MANY people love the show.

Love, love love Kate Winslet. She is always classy!

When the cast of Modern Family was on stage, I noticed the dress on one of the young stars, Ariel Winter. I just looked up her age - 13! Was that dress appropriate for such a young lady or I just being too up-tight?

Nope, it was definitely too much cleavage for a young teenager.

I'm happy for Kyle Chandler, Margo Martindale and Peter Dinklage.

The one win that pissed me off was Melissa McCarthy. I liked her on Gilmore Girls and Bridesmaids but I think she was the least deserving actress in the lead comedy actress category.

I loved Heather's dress! Other favorite so far was Nina (Vampire Diaries) dress wise.

The show was boring this year to me, I think comedy skits were bad agh. I can't wait until Jan
