Defending Stitch, my favourite character! :stitch:

Stitch is a great character, but that attraction is awful. Not at all entertaining. Everyone I know calls it, "Stitch's Great Mistake".

My goal on the CP was to ride every attraction in the parks, even the ones I didn't love, but especially the ones I haven't done, even with many trips to WDW under my belt. Trying to get people on Stitch with me was like pulling teeth. Afterwards, I just turned to my roommate and mouthed, "sorry".

I don't think that there is anything entertaining about that ride.

By the end of the movie, Stitch is loveable. This attraction doesn't show him as anything but absolutely terrifying, not to mention the fact that the chilli dog smell makes me sick. It just wasn't a creative re-do. They tried to stick Stitch in an existing attraction when he deserves his own ride from scratch.

Evil Princess:

Everytime you post.. I love you a little more. :)

I was surprised that 7 and 8 year olds were having problems with it.

I honestly think they missed the mark. Stitch is not a character aimed at 14 yr olds.

The Alien Encounter attraction hit that mark perfectly.

They clearly tried to change it up to skew younger.. but despite the generally fun 'idea' behind it.. the ending is just too darned flat. I really think a Stitch 'concert' at the end or something.. SOMETHING that shows his cute cuddly side at the end.. or that made it SUPER clear he was only trying to be funny ... would make a WORLD of difference for those 7 year olds.

THEN I think they might leave going ... "I Was really scared there for a minute.. boy was that silly of me." ... instead of whats happening now.

Dont like Stitch the ride and my DS4 HATES the ride -it scared him- now he is SCARED of Stitch( who isnt a scary char) Anyway, it made for lots of fun at Char Bkfst at Ohana(DS4 was under the table)

Its sad, because I love the movie. Its so sweet! However, I do agree that the ride is rather disappointing... and stinky.. :sad2:

I don't know about "terrifying." I just asked my son, who was 8 when he did it, if he thought it was scary. He said no, in that tone--you know, "what kind of question is that...durrrr?" Of course, he doesn't scare easily, but I just thought I'd get a kids opinion.

Anyhoo...terrifying no. Boring? Hell yeah. Stupid...indeed. Yep, lame. And we do love Stitch. Just check my siggy...

I for one, LOVED Alien Encounter. I wouldn't go on Stitch unless you paid me well. :sad2: I have no desire to have a chili dog burped in my face, and I know that after my absolute love of AE, no matter how good the attraction is I would be terribly disappointed. AE was the best attraction in Tomorrowland, if not the whole park (for me).

Wow.. can I just say what well informed opinions you have? And while I'm at it.. I'm confident you're smart, pretty and fun to be around..

:)

Seriously.. I agree.

Perhaps my history is colored by the fact that I got to see several of the different preview versions of AE.

- more crunchy bones version
- slightly more lights version / less bones
- slurpy noises with less bones
- and slurpy noises with more bones

:)

I totally agree. I hate Stitch with a passion. The movie, the character and the ride (show). I will not do it at all. It is my mini protest to say to Disney Execs. that they made a bad move with this one.

Like I said, Stitch is one of my favorite characters. But, I LOVED AE...and still love listening to the preshow and main show....

....and so does my DD7! As a matter of fact, she asked me not too long ago if she was old enough to see it! I told her that AE was replaced by SGE. She seemed quite disappointed. Even she was kinda iffy about SGE, and she even got to see it twice (due to a rider swap).

A new Stitch attraction should be futuristic (hence Tomorrowland), silly, dazzling, and a whole lot of fun for kids and adults alike. Perhaps include more animatronics, including those of Jumba, Pleakley, and Gantu......

But ya know....all things aside, I'd still love to see AE return. Yeah, it's scary. No, it's not for kids or the faint-of-heart. But hey...you know it's scary before you even CONSIDER entering the doorway. I'd do my part to ensure its return.....

So.. I finally got off my keister and made the graphic I've been thinking about for SO LONG.

It's here in my SIG file. Feel free to add it to your SIG file.. and join us at XS Tech. :)

Why do you want Stitch gone? For me -- it's just not that entertaining.

I did a little digging and "weliweli" means AWFUL in Hawaiian. I thought that was perfect. :)

My only comment to this is: HOW RUDE!!

StitchFans:

You love it ... we don't. We can have different opinions without calling each other rude. As I said before -- I like Stitch.. but I just don't think this attraction is up to Disney standards.

Read my other posts in this thread full explaining "why" I'm saying this attraction isn't up to Disney standards. I don't think any of those posts qualify as rude. None of them are personal attacks on other board members, or even their opinions.

And once again - For the Record - I'm not saying Stitch the character is awful - I'm saying the way this attraction is written, presented and the way it ENDS ... are awful. I actually love Stitch the character and I think he deserves a better attraction than what I see as the current very half-baked attempt.

I intentionally put smilies in my original post so the humor of this little 'campaign' would shine thru. Whatever Disney does or does not decide to do with this attraction ... me posting a thread on this forum and making a little graphic to put in my SIG ... won't affect that one way or the other. Realistically, that's the truth.

All that said, I'm clearly not alone in my opinion .. nor are you alone in yours. So .. hey.. To borrow from another Disney classic -- Hakuna Matata...

the character is ok and stitch has a lot of fans. but the attraction is a waste of time and an insult to the disney tradition.

I'm all for bringing back alien encounter! I enjoyed that ride and I loooove Skippy
I do find, however, that the magic of the ride is gone after the first or second time. You know what's going to happen, just not as exciting and that's probably the reason I haven't ridden it since AE came out I rode it three times (on separate trips). Hmmm...so now I'm not really sure I'd even ride it again if it was AE..LOL!! BUT, I still think it was a great ride!
