Last year’s telecast (to me) will be a tough act to follow. I thought the show itself was quite good - very funny at times - and 2024 was an outstanding year for films. One of the best ever.

2025 not so much. My wife and I saw all of the Best Picture nominees (save for Dune 2 - whattaya gonna do) and we agree that not one of them would have made our top ten from last year. Don’t get me wrong, some were very good - Anora and A Complete Unlnown were my faves - but nothing like Zone of Interest, Anatomy of a Fall, etc.

And the best films we saw this year - France’s The Beast (just fantastic) and the weird, wonderful and gruesome Strange Darling - were completely and not surprisingly overlooked.
