If it was anyone else I'd be gagging and rolling my eyes. But there's definitely something very powerful about Oprah.

Agreed... also, it takes a great sense of yourself not to let tons of accolades go to your head. I think that her contributions far outweigh her sense of self-worth, if that makes any sense.

This is one time, her knowing her self-importance and influence paid off. She turned it from just thanking people to a great rousing speech.

Exactly. The evening started out with a Best Actress award and 2 other female categories soon followed. So, the show can't celebrate any men at all?

Yes, on both counts. She needs to go to Jane Fonda's plastic surgeon. Jane looks fantastic - for someone who's had work done and admits to it.

Natalie Portman was just awful. This was Guillermo's first major award and she decided to mar it for whoever won. Women do need more recognition but this isn't the way.
