The Official DIS Golden Globes LIVE PARTY Thread!!!

I know the name Barbara Streisand but to be honest I can't think of any song or movie or anything she has done.
I get her songs confused with Carly Simon, and any movie I think she is done turns out I'm thinking of Bette Midler.

I loved her in Yentl. :)

At least you put her in good company. :lmao:

Let me think, Babs sung, "The Way We Were," "People," from the movie Funny Girl, "Evergreen" from A Star Is Born. Those are the biggest ones I can think of that you probably know. :scratchin

I just looked on idmb and I was 10 when that came out so I guess I'm just not familiar with her work, just her name.
I did see "The way we were" and I do know that song.
I thought she looked fabulous tonight.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who is unfamiliar with her work!

I've never heard of it - looked it up and it came out when I was four years old so that could be why. I'm woefully uneducated on classic movies and haven't seen the majority of them.

That's okay. I didn't know Penelope Cruz is in two recent films and made a comment asking why was she at the GG tonight. :duck:

.

Try watching The Owl and the Pussycat, where she played a prostitute/"model",/go-go dancer/actress in a biker porn movie.

I think Streisand is one of those people who is a MUCH bigger star in some places than others.

Streisand was amazing in Funny Girl. I like my classics though.

Not fan of babs.

It was good to see Kirk Douglas but wish it had been Michael that had brought him out on stage instead a half naked Catherine. People were more interested in he couldn't barely speak then the living legend in front of them he's 101.

I was also wondering why Michael did not go out with him.

These award ceremonies just flat out refuse to reward Christopher Nolan. Wonder what he did to piss them off so much.

I'd like to know too. The Nolan brothers are have provided some of the best writing, directing, and overall content of the last 15+ years in film and television. A few nominations at major award shows, and some wins at lesser award shows, and yet they still don't get the recognition that many, including me, think they deserve.

I think Dunkirk should have been released in December so it would be fresh on people's minds. It was an amazing movie.

I was reading today that some folks were upset that Kirk Douglas was there at all due to the very serious stories about his brutal rape of a 14 year old Natalie Wood back in the day. This year of all years to have him was tone deaf.

So people should be shunned because of never been proven rumours?

I have never heard that - not disputing but I've always been a bit of an old movie buff and I'm surprised I hadn't heard that...I would agree that would be a bit tone deaf.

I agree. I also think Del Toro is brilliant, so it was hard for me in terms of who to cheer for. All 5 of the best series were excellent. I'd give the nod to GOT, but I couldn't be mad about the Handmaid's Tale winning either. It was like Sophie's Choice. I mean Mad Men and Downton would be hard too.
