The Official DIS Golden Globes LIVE PARTY Thread!!!

This may be a few pages back but did anyone see Debra Messing talk with Giuliana about the pay inequality issue at E news?

Yeah, I wonder if Giuliana put her up to it. :lmao: Like, how did Debra know about that?

Hi Everyone- I will be here for as long as people's messages seem genuine and with the pure interest of making change and not just bandwagon cheerleading of a "cause." Also if the political stuff overwhelms the dialogue, that will get me to change the channel.

Many of the celebrities look fantastic, it must be difficult when knowing ahead of time that everyone is wearing black and trying to stand out, look memorable but also it can't really be a focus on "who are you wearing?" when truly this should be about talent, empowerment etc given the women's movement but E! is still doing the "glambot" and trivial nonsense so maybe they do not really get it.

Sarah Jessica Parker does not look good... and honestly I think she is coming across as combative.

I saw it, but I don't watch E news so I didn't really catch all of it, but got the general gist, of course.

Viola Davis - I like her hair - but the eyeshadow and necklace... no...

No, but all I hear is blah, blah, blah. Lol.

I thought what she said was short and sweet, to the point. She didn't belabor it and just said she stands with equal pay for equal work. I think in theory we can *all* be behind that movement, but again, it's hard to feel sorry for celebrities when they make more in one year than the average person does in a lifetime.

I have always thought the Red Carpet is a bit of both fluff and glamour, mixed with the nominees who are obviously there, being celebrated for talent. But, yes, this year does seem to be a bit more tricky, trying to get just the right tone between looking great, celebrating, yet showing solidarity and seriousness for a good cause, so don't dress too frivolously.

The problem is, even if they are all being over-paid, they should get equal pay to their male counterparts.

In professional tennis, the men always get more money, but they play an extra 2 sets of tennis, so it's obvious why they should get more.

I saw it and that's why I commented that she was getting too political. She tends to take things just a step too far.

I thought you were talking about Meryl as she was on when I read your post.
