The Official Clay Aiken Discussion Thread

I don't understand why the Early SHow is so sketchy as far as scheduling goes.

I did get to see him (and Merry Christmas to ME!), and he looked and sounded terrific. I watched it on the New York CBS channel, but my sister insists she didn't see it on the Connecticut CBS. Go figure.

CBS aires Nick Jr on Saturday Mornings here. So unless it was WAY early (before 7am) then there is not Morning Show on San Fransico CBS station.

I am so SAD! I did not get to enjoy my fourth row seats at the detroit concert on the 23rd! The weatherman hit us with 14 inches of snow and bad roads all the way up to Detroit, even some shut down! We couldn't get there!!! I was SO upset!!! I was depressed all Christmas! I did get his book in my stocking which I have read over half, but still doesn't make up for missing Clay live!!! Why couldn't the weather man wait until Christmas Eve to send the snow? :sad2:   :sad1:

Oh, how disapointing! Did the show go on or is he rescheduling?
:grouphug:

Awww...I'm sorry, Gina.

The show DID go on as scheduled, although I've read about a lot of people who had the same situation as you did. It would've been nice for the show to be rescheduled, but I'm not sure when they would've done it. He's got the West Coast shows that had to be rescheduled this week, and the parade on Saturday. I bet if he didn't have to reschedule those other concerts, Wednesday night's show would've been postponed. :grouphug:

AIKEN ALERT!!!

Clay will be participating in the UNICEF Relief drive for the tsunami victims. It is supposed to air on NBC affiliates on Wednesday, January 5 at 7:00 pm. Atleast...I think that's when it is. It's supposed to be live fron the NBC studios in NYC.

Anyways, keep your eyes peeled for our little humanitarian!!

Did anybody see him at the Rose ball parade? I wasn't home, so I didn't catch it.

#17, his book on NYTimes bestseller list (non-fiction)

CD
This week, not in the top 50. Will check Billboard later to see if it's in 50-100.
Last week, was #38 (it's 6th week on the charts)
Prior week, was #23

So, now that is tour is over, what's he up to? Has anyone heard? I'd have to assume he'd take a few weeks off for a well deserved vacation. Any news of future tours or a new CD? Maybe he'll do some book signings.

I taped the parade and haven't watched it yet - we were in Disney World for the week, and I'm still trying to catch up! :D

As for what he's up to, the only thing (besides the tsunami relief tonight) on his schedule is the Pacific Rim Conference in Hawaii at the end of February. Plus whatever he's doing to serve UNICEF, but I honestly don't know what that entails. I had heard that it would give him the opportunity to visit some of the areas that UNICEF serves, but no details on that yet. However, my friend (who was in charge of keeping me up to date with Clay news while I was away) said there are rumors of a new album and tour in the late spring.

Apparently, a Claymate had a conversation with Jerome, and he told her Clay would be heading out on the road again in May, and that it would be in support of a new album. Now, I'm a little skeptical about that considering I vaguely remember him saying that he wasn't working on anything that would be released this/that early in the year. But, hey...he's Clay Aiken. If he wants to change his mind and do it, then good for him.

And better for us....:lovestruc

Clay was on the Ronald McDonald House Charity float. He wasn't/didn't sing. But it was great to see him just the same.

A fairly local/northeast thing?
NBC-owned WNBC New York, in conjunction with UNICEF, will also stage an hour-long commercial-free tsunami benefit tonight (Jan. 5) that airs live at 7 p.m. ET. The show, which will feature appearances by singer Clay Aiken and actors Sarah Jessica Parker, Tea Leoni and Debra Messing, will be hosted by WNBC news anchors Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons and "Access Hollywood" host Nancy O'Dell. The show will air on all 14 of NBC's owned-and-operated television stations, rebroadcast at 7 p.m. PT.

FYI: The nationally broadcast NBC tsunami fund-raiser is January 15th, not tonight. It will be on several cable channels, as well as NBC stations. Don't see anything about Clay there though(?)

Billboard Article

I'm confused now...the part you quoted says what I said about Clay being on an NBC benefit that would be taped in NYC (with West Coast portions as well) for air tonight. I see the other benefit tapped for the 15th, but that wasn't what I was referring to. I am under the impression that they're either two separate benefits or that tonight's broadcast will be included in the one on the 15th as well. It is possible that it's a regional thing only offered in certain markets (tri-state, for example, and Los Angeles).

Here's the original article I read, from our local tv station:http://www.nbc30.com/nbc30/4047654/detail.html

Clay was on last night. I bet there are 2 seperate shows. He was the very last guest. He did a pre-recorded message to support Unicef's education program. There was no performing in the show, only celeb's talking. They raised over $6 million dollars in the hour.

Checked Billboard, and his CD was not in the top 100. To be expected, who buys Christmas music after Christmas! It sold very well prior to Christmas. I wonder if it went gold. Anybody know?

That's wonderful! WTG, Clay!! :flower1:

I know he's been working so hard, but I still can't wait till his next CD!!

Forgot to post, his book was #21 this week. That makes 8 weeks on the NYT's bestseller list for non-fiction.

I've talked to several people (Idol fans) who never even knew he had a book out. Imagine what he'd sell if they actually promoted it!

I posted this on another thread, but you might have missed it. I recently bought Diana's new CD. It is REALLY good! Kindof reminds me of Hillary Duff. Boy, Diana can SING! I really hope people will give her a chance...... (And I really wasn't a "fan" before. I though she was to "ordinary".)

Was he on the NBC tsumi special last night? I fell asleep abt 15 minutes before it was over.Up till then, he wasn't on. I had read an article saying he would be on. (It specified THIS show, in addition to the other one he did last week.)

If he was on, did he sing?

i didn't see him at all and i watched the entire telethon...haven't had the chance to check out other clay boards to see what happened yet. anyone else know why he wasn't on?
