The Official Clay Aiken Discussion Thread

I saw him on Scrubs last night! Boy, that show is weird! First time I ever watched it. Anyhow, OMC did a great job acting. I loved listening to him sing "Isn't she beautiful". Just wish he could have sung longer... :lovestruc

Did anybody see the Kimmel show Mon? It's was way to late for me. Did he sing or just chat? Any news of his new CD or tour?

i didn't watch kimmel...i forgot to set my DVR to tape it!

but i did tape scrubs...haven't watched it yet though cuz i was in class last night. i'll watch it tonight! scrubs is kind of an interesting show...i don't watch regularly but i have seen it from time to time...

i'm getting anxious for some fresh clack! i can't wait for another CD...

I did watch both Kimmel and Scrubs. Kimmel and Clay just chatted and had a little video of Kimmel and Clay singing together. The stage was filled with all sorts of Valentine gifts for Clay from his fans. Ballons, pizzas, stuffed animals. Talked a little about his book and showed a clip from Scrubs. Did not talk about recording a new CD or any coming projects. It was just sort of a sit and chat kind of interview with nothing really new coming out of it.

I did watch Scrubs. I have watched it in the past and never really cared for the show. I thought the entire plot was strange, but Clay did a good job. I am a nurse and some of the people at work just love watching Scrubs. The regular Scrubs watchers at work all asked me if I say Clay last night.

 I squealed when I saw him on Scrubs. And I just love when he bites his lower lip. It's my favorite.

As for Kimmel - according to a friend of mine, Clay was asked to step in after the originally scheduled guest had to cancel, so he wasn't there to truly plug anything, although it was good timing for Scrubs.

This link: http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2005/Feb/15/il/il02a.html is a recent article where he mentioned something about the tour/new album, if you're interested. The quote: "I'm just starting to think about the next album cycle," he said. "It's in the premature stages right now, to do the second regular studio album. I'll take some time off the rest of the year; there are no tours planned."

The Claymates were up in arms about it, but I think it's just out of context. There are a lot of things Clay doesn't set into stone - I think that tours that are months away are but one of them, so we don't need to worry. Yet. I hope. I mean, he's going to be the keynote speaker in April at a conference in Ft. Lauderdale, so it's not like he's dropping off the planet.

HE should be worried for himself though!! Without a tour, it makes it that much harder for me to track him down to woo him!! :p

Just a heads up:

Apparently Kimmel is repeating last week's episode, so set your VCRs, take a nap, or pull an all-nighter to enjoy Clay again!!

Thanks for the update on the repeat Kimmel show.

I guess we are back into a Clay drought since Scrubs and Kimmel are over.

Looks like it...but atleast with the Pacific Rim conference next week, we'll likely get some photos. :lovestruc

Clay with a lei....hanging ten, perhaps? :faint:

Cool!

Any body see any articles on his Hawaii appearance?

Well I have mixed feelings about Clay. He treated everyone terribly when he invited our High School choir to sing with him at a concert he did in our area. He was very rude to all of them and he said he would donate money towards their choir, yet when the envelope was presented to them it was empty. Couldn't believe he didn't do anything about it. I wanted him to win AI so bad, liked him from the very beginning. This past summer I went to see him perform in Atlantic City. I just can't believe the behavior of this man at this event. The way he treated the kids from the school was so bad that one of the teachers had to be removed from the building because she was so angry.

I read about this in the press. I'm sorry your choir had such a difficult time. :grouphug:

It's hard (as an "outsider") to really know what to believe. From personal experience, I have a great deal of skepticism about believing what is reported. (With everything, I'm not singling out Clay.) There are always 2 sides to a story. *I* haven't seen a single word from Clay or his people regarding this issue.

I'm just tossing out a few points that have run through my mind. Clay did a tour of over 20 cities where he used local choir's. This is the only one who have reported a "problem". Did noone else have a problem? Even if they'd intended to keep it quiet, after this story broke, wouldn't they have "come out"? Lots of press are at these concerts. Yet even from their viewpoint, nothing else has been reported.

He had a very bad infection at the start of his tour, forcing him to reschedule 3 concerts. I imagine he wasn't on his best "game" (mentally and physically) when he started. The long hours of singing had to have put much added stress on his voice.

I'm sure he is not the one who puts the money in the envelopes for the choirs nor is he the one who picks up the phone to order food. I'm sure he has people who do that. Could, perhaps, the person who was in charge of that been "out" for this particular concert, forcing someone to step in at the last minute and cover?

And lastly, maybe he was just having a bad day. He's human, right? Aren't we all entitled to have a bad day? Sometimes I wonder what is would be like to live in the media fishbowl, "people" always waiting for you to stumble. That *one* time you leave the house with your hair pulled back and not make up on, your kid has a "meltdown" and you loose it a bit. You KNOW their is going to be a reported just waiting to score a big paycheck for such juicy news. Did it happen, of cource. Is it representative of "regular life", no.

Again, I'm not discounting that it did happen, I'm just trying to look at the big picture.

Nice article about his book:

Being born with a collapsed lung doesn’t mean you won’t one day have the lungpower to knock a stadium full of people out of their seats with your voice (not to mention a nation of TV viewers).

Recognizing your mistakes demonstrates intelligence; learning from them demonstrates wisdom.

The worst critics you'll encounter in your life you'll most likely run into on a playground; after that, dealing with the grown-up ones is child's play.

There are worse things than poverty; poverty doesn't define you but how you deal with it can.

Families come in all shapes and sizes and may or may not include blood kin and loved ones.

There's a proper place and time for being loud, funny, uninhibited and the center of attention... the classroom is not that place... the stage is. (If in doubt, just ask yourself which place you'd rather have your mom show up to observe your behavior.)

Listen to your mom; she may not always be right, but she'll always be your mom so she deserves your attention (or she may threaten to take you over her knee).

A skinny person can have broad shoulders, and standing tall doesn't always refer to height.

If you can laugh at yourself, you're more likely to be taken seriously.

Your mom will always tell you the truth, even when it hurts... her.

The best Christmas memories are associated with giving rather than receiving great gifts.

You may be able to fool yourself, but you can't fool your mom; she probably knows you better.

Stubbornness can be an attribute when it involves sticking to your faith and moral values.

Your mom knows when you're getting too big for your britches because she knows what size britches you look best in.

The best learners make the best teachers; especially if they continue learning even while they teach.

You don't need a classroom to be a teacher.

Don't stop striving to make a difference even when it's obvious you already have because setting that example is one of the ways you are.

Even if you think you've gotten away with something, you'll probably end up telling on yourself someday as a lesson to others.

It's amazing how much smarter your mom gets with age... yours, not hers.

When you're a child, standing out in the crowd can lead to ridicule; when you're an adult, it can lead to adulation.

Millions of people can't all be wrong or blind or deaf, but you may need to believe they are to remain grounded.

You can't make people love you, but you can't stop them from loving you either.

Dare to dance.

Ok, the Christmas concert story is really old news and there is another side to the story. Once I can find the link I will post it for those who are interested. Then people can decide on there own. I just find it very interesting that someone brings it up now.

I'd love to see the "other" side of the story, if you can find the link. If you can't that's OK.

Thanks for looking.
