I noticed a lot of weddings coming up on the Dis and I thought it might be nice if we could have a thread to share ideas, support each other, and of course vent :D

My wedding is nine months away and I'm just starting to get into the planning stuff. I was hoping to run off to Vegas but dbf wanted his big day! It seems kind of stressful to plan a big wedding but I think it'll be a fun night.

I hope to see some other brides to be on here soon :cool1:

Hi! I'm getting married in just over 6 months and I've been engaged less than 1 month...And I'm at the point where planning should be happening pretty fast, but since I'm busy in school it's going SLOW. I do have a dress and a location, but I don't have a lot of the planning done. I'm excited though! We're hoping for a Disney honeymoon!

Just wanted to say Congratulations to the ones that are getting married.
Marriage is such a Wonderful and Beautiful thing. It takes alot of adjusting but it is so worth it.I could not be happier and I Love him more everyday.
Marriage is what you make of it.It is not 50/50 it is a 100% from both.

OK I am finished rambling.Again Congratulations

Oh my gosh, you are brave! :worship:. Are you the one who posted about getting tortured at David's bridal?

Awww Misty that was so sweet :D. So many people I know are getting divorced and it's nice to hear from people who are happy and in love.

hehe Yeah, that was me getting tortured...We've been together for over 4 years, so we've been planning for a while. We had to wait since we were in school, then he had trouble finding a job...So now we're way beyond ready. It didn't help matters that his brother and his girlfriend (now fiancee) got engaged in August and decided to get married in March...I didn't take that very well, since we wanted to be married so badly and didn't' have the option, and they'd been together such a short time...Not to mention that since all the relatives would be flying out for that one we couldn't get married too soon after since they'd all have to fly back out again for ours...Ugh. It's been a mess.

WDWAurora, I remember the dress you chose and it was stunning! Definately worth the torture ;)

Waiting sucks doesn't it! My FH is writting his board exams this summer and I figured that would be stressful enough, so we put off the wedding until the fall. We're living together in the meantime so it's not terrible but I wish we could just get moving with things already. In the meantime I get to do all the research and planning by myself while he studies :earseek:

It must have been hard when your fbil got engaged after a short time while you had to wait until the timing was right. Is his wedding effecting yours a lot?

It was hard, and she and I had talked about how we planned to have each other in our weddings...and I'm not in hers. (She won't be in mine now, either) Long story, we didn't fight or anything...just ran out of space I suppose is the way to put it.

The main effect their wedding is having was timing, but now it's music. The one song I asked a close friend to sing nearly 2 years ago they're having in theirs...And I know it's horribly selfish, but I want it for myself. So I'm not currently planning to use it since it'll be copying, but only because their wedding is happening first, if that makes any sense. Any suggestions for a song to use during the ceremony? I haven't found another one that I love like that one...

Mine is coming up in July.

I'm either a coordinator's dream or a nightmare, I haven't decided which yet. We have a small wedding party - just 1 attendant each. I have NO colours, I frankly don't care what my MOH wears as long as it's tasteful. The reception will pretty much take care of itself, since we're doing a slightly tweaked semi-traditional Chinese wedding banquet (all 8 or 9 courses or whatever it is). The cake is pretty simple, our biggest decision now is whether to have strawberries in the filling or not.

I have a dress that I bought ages ago because I fell in love with it- it was on sale for something like $250. My biggest challenge now is getting back down to the same size as the dress, so that's my major focus at the moment (which makes me ask WHY then I have a batch of cinnamon buns baking).

The wedding is in Vegas, so the ceremony is basically set. We'll be making one minor alteration to it to include a tradition from a friends wedding of the groom giving coins to the bride to signify that all that was his is now theirs. DFi wants to do this with casino chips! Who am I to argue? Actually we have $1 casino tokens that we collected from different casinos all lined up for that.

Everyone will be from out of town and there isn't a rehearsal, so no rehearsal supper.

I don't want a bachelorette party, and DFi won't be getting a bachelor party - instead we'll be spending the evening before with friends and family.

The part that I'll be the biggest PITA about is the bouquet - I don't know yet what comes with the package, I'll have to talk to the florist closer to the wedding and find out what the standard is and then how much to upgrade to the bouquet that I want.

Wow, you're doing good Amberle! Why don't you bring some of those cinnamon buns down here? What flowers are you thinking you want in your bouquet? The coin giving idea sounds cool!

Yum, cinnamon buns! My dress ended up being two sizes too big so you could send them down here :D

Amberle3 I was so jealous when I read about your Vegas wedding. Since I was a kid it was my dream to get married in vegas (by an Elvis impersonator no less). It sounds like you're going to have such a fun wedding! Is there a "Let's Get Married" bridal show in Winnipeg? I got some good ideas for bouquets from there.

BTW I'm not going with a colour either. I'm still traumatized by a pinky/purple monstrosity my friend made me wear.

WDWAurora if you love the song then you should use it. Both weddings are not going to have the exact same guest list, and they are a few months apart so people might not even remember it's the same song. You're allowed to have the wedding you want even if it is after theirs! As for not being in her wedding, it's probably a good thing. I got so stressed out being a bridesmaid and it cost so much money. It's better to use your money and energy on yourself :D

I just wanted to pop over and say HI. I am not a bride to be anymore but rather just got married in October.

I just have to say that Planning the wedding was the most fun I have had. Mine was a destination wedding in the Caribbean on a cruise so my coordinator on St. Thomas did most of it for me.... that made it sooo easy!!

Congratulations... Good Luck... and being married is wonderful, though I would love to do it again!!! (I mean marry him and plan the wedding all over again!!!)

For the bouquet I'd like some roses and lillies, in a cascade style. I picked out some examples and put them online at http://members.shaw.ca/aeaston/bouquet.htm . I'd like a somewhat muted accent colour (ie not bright pink), but I would like some colour there (ie not just white).

There is a bridal show in Winnipeg, and actually right now I'm with DFi in Edmonton and there was one here on the weekend. We didn't bother going to it, since everything for the wedding is out of town.

I'm very much looking forward to the Vegas wedding. DFi had originally wanted to do the themed wedding at Treasure Island where you get married on one of the ships. It WAS a pretty nifty little package, because back then they still had pirates and a pirate would swoop down with the rings. Unfortunately the ship you get married on is the one that sinks in the nightly shows, and I just don't think that's a good omen for a wedding!

After visiting several of the chapels we decided on the Luxor . It's a lovely chapel. The package includes the flowers, photography, video - everything.

We're going to do the Viva Las Vegas chapel with Elvis for a renewal though!

Hi all of you brides-to-be! I am no longer a bride-to-be. I have been married for 5 years and am now a first time mom-to-be, but I wanted to pop in and say congratulations on your upcoming weddings! How exciting! Dh and I had a rough 1st year of marriage but we got married pretty young and didn't realize how much work it can be. But let me assure you, it was all worth it! I love this man more each day and would not trade the life we have together for anything. And now he is going to be the father of my child and life is great! I hope all of you find the happiness that we have found together. Okay, okay, I am done being sappy and sentimental now. Pregnancy hormones and upcoming weddings will do it to you every time...lol! Again, congratulations!

Hi! I just got engaged five days ago, so the planning is only just beginning for us!! I am still on a mojor high about it all and when I have finally stopped staring at my gorgeous engagement ring, I will begin to think about setting a date!!

Can't wait! :Pinkbounc

Hello to all the brides-to-be!

DH2B and I are getting married at WDW inl April of 2007. :( We had it planned for October 2005, but some things came up and we had to change it. It's for the better, but I would still love to be planning for something sooner! LOL We've been together for 5 1/2 years and have lived together for 5 years, so marriage won't really bring anything new to us, but it will be nice to make that step forward. Finally. :p

WDWAurora - your dress is beautiful, btw!

Congratulations to everyone! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

September 2005 bride-to-be here! I am starting to plan, but in the meantime, I'm a bridesmaid in two other weddings and I have to attend my cousin's in Vegas - it's a year of weddings, it seems!

I haven't started dress shopping yet, but hope to start sometime in February. In fact, we don't even have a reception hall yet - I'm headed to my hometown this weekend to scope a few out. I am knitting shawls for all of my bridesmaids and personal attendants (6 total), so I'm a busy girl! I'm not sure what possessed me to do that. I'm letting them all pick a black dress - I don't care if everyone has different styles - so to tie them all together they are getting the wraps.

I really want to have our dog as the ring bearer, but we are Catholic and I'm pretty sure they won't allow dogs in the church =P

I'm a groom-to-be :-)

My fiancee just got her dress... picked it out from Kleinfeld's in Brooklyn this Sunday!

I'm getting married on 9/17

Amberle3, the only way I agreed to a big wedding was if I could get an Elvis vow rennewal! Reading your post made me realize that I screwed up in terms of flowers. I wanted the bridesmaids to have those big pink Gerber Daisies but I realized that they are choosing their own dress colours. I better think of something more neutral or I might end up with a very rainbow-y look!

PryncessChrysty I remember your story from the Dis wedding and honeymoon boards. We were planning on doing a swan/dolphin wedding at first but it didn't work out. It's so nice that you're sticking with your dream of a Disney wedding. At least you'll have lots of time to plan and bargain hunt :D

LovesDoomBuggies I got a shawl once as a bridesmaid gift. I appreciated it a lot and it saved me money too (those matching shawls can get expensive!). I haven't found a place for the reception either...I'm hoping to find a hotel that comes with it's own wedding planner :bitelip:

Another bride here! Tim and I will be married Oct. 15, 2005. Note the count-down clock is for our Disney honeymoon, not the wedding date! That should tell you our priorities! :)

Oddly enough, what got us started on planning the wedding was me finding a dress.

We had talked about getting married, and both agreed we wanted to. Tim hadn't officially proposed yet (and still hasn't, he's got the ring on layaway!) but said he really wanted to be married in Oct. of '05, which at this point in the story was about 12 months away. I was walking in the mall one day, when I stoped outside a bridal gown store that had the most beautiful wedding gown. I had been stoping and looking at this gown for something like a year, before Tim and I had even met! So it dawns on me "hey, we're getting married, why not go in and ask about the dress?". So I did, got the price (I just about fainted, but it was only $300 over my budget) and they told me that it was being discontinued, I had 1 month to put in the order!

So I talk to Tim. "Do you really want to get married next October?" He said yes. I told him about the dress, the cost, and that I had to order now or never. He said go for it! So I got the dress!

Since I had the dress, and at this point had about a year to plan, we decided to start with the rest of it. At this point, we have the deposit in on the ceramony/reception site, the flowers, and the minister (who we met with last Saturday) and we have an apointment to meet with a photographer/video company this coming Saturday. The BM dresses have been picked (but not ordered yet...long story). I'll be working on invitations next. So that leaves the tuxes (Tim's one and only job in this) and the little things like party favors, unity candle, cake knife and such. The rehersal dinner will be at my brother's house, we are having it catered so I'll need to find a restaurant for that, but it won't be a big deal. A friend of mine owns a limo company, and his wedding gift will be a free limo for the day, whatever we need. The honeymoon, as yo can see from my count-down clock, is also booked.

This has been so easy! I don't know what people complain about! ;). (how much you want to bet I'll live to eat those words?)

Congrats to all the other brides!
