*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

And so DD8 tells me yesterday that she just must eat at Ohana for breakfast this trip! LOL! So now I must start the dining search and stalking! 29 days until we arrive but I'll keep the search going even after we arrive. I know that ADR's often open up day of.

Make sure to set up those reservation alerts. they help immensely.

We tip roughly 20% when we do table service, but it really adds up, especially when you’re on the ddp. That’s why we prefer to do counter service as much as possible.

We did Storybook dining earlier this year. It was pricey of course, and we didn’t purchase any alcoholic beverages, but the tip alone was well over $40. The tip money alone would be a good dinner for the four of us at a counter service location.

I've been warning hubby that Storybook will be our most expensive meal once we pay tip. with tip and all it will be almost $150.00 for just the two of us.

I noticed someone said he/she was planning on two sets of clothes per day due to August heat. We're planning the same, but instead of packing double the amounts of things, I'm planning of a little laundry during one of our long midday breaks. I doubt that Mickey will care if I wear the same shirt twice as long as I washed it, right? :) How are the rest of you dealing with this?

I plan to do laundry at some time during our trip too. Hubby is a sweater so I wouldn't be able to stand the smell of his sweaty shirts that long :earseek: :crazy2:

I do laundry while we are there - but we have an 11 day trip and we just don't have enough clothes to cover that (and I hate sweaty clothes laying around after a few days!) I either do it while we are taking a swim break or I'll get up early one morning before we head out

I do laundry as well on long trips - we will be there for 2 weeks so the day before we switch hotels, I'll get up early and do laundry before we head to Blizzard Beach. That way when we repack the suitcases for our split stay we are packing up all clean clothing. I find that the washers and dryers work pretty quickly and do a good enough job.

Never done laundry but its our first stay at a deluxe and for longer than a week. Add the 300% humidity and we may do it this time.

I always bring double underwear for everyone. I know we will change but we don't do the midday break and return to the park routine some do. When we aren't at a park we'll generally be at the resort swimming or resting; so to decide how many outfits I usually multiply the number of days by 1.5 instead of 2. So for 6 days; we'll bring 9 days worth of clothes instead of 12. That's also to have options and to have an extra shirt on each plane ride. I do laundry; but it's usually during pool time the day before we leave so that I don't bring a bunch of dirty clothes home.

I am packing the 3 of us in 2 bags for this trip. I'm putting my clothes and my son's clothes together. He's 9 so his clothes don't take up much room. My 16 year-old has her own bag that will hold her clothes plus the plastic zipper pouch with the large toiletries. We're flying Southwest; but we never have more than 3 bags. Last year we had 3 because we went for 10 days. We're bringing my mom and have told her to stick to 1 bag. She's a heavy packer. I got her a luggage set with a 28 inch upright for Mother's Day.

I’ll do laundry too. Be careful with any dry fit or moisture wicking clothing. I’ve twice ruined a load of clothes in dryers at Disney world than ran too hot even though I put them on the low setting and removed the clothes well before time ended. Last trip I opened the dryer every 10 minutes or so and took out items as they dried.

Good to know!! Thanks for the tip!

We are doing the same with my mom, 2 teen grands and the heat.. We are doing shorter days in the parks but added 2 days to be able to do all our favorites.
I think we might enjoy doing parks at night (cooler temps hopefully), but I must admit, I thought the MK would be open past 9:00pm. Our first night there there are MK EMH at night until 11:00pm, but everything else at MK is 9. Maybe hours will get extended, but I am not counting on it. We have 8 days of tickets and MNSSHP tickets, so I'm sure we'll get lots done though. I actually am looking forward to night time touring- just a change!

We are all day in the park people, but we also stay for 2 weeks, so we always end up doing laundry. The last few years, we have stayed offsite, and had laundry machines in the house. The same this year. We typically will throw a load in when we get up in the morning, and by the time we leave, it is done.

Joining in on the fun! Just booked a quick trip 8/28-9/1 for Food and Wine as well as the Star Wars Opening. It's going to be fun but crazy! We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

You've been added to the Roll Call. Have a great trip!

We always do a couple of loads of laundry part way through trip - we just do it while we're at PORS pool (we are preferred AB section and there is a quiet pool there with laundry next to it). It's easy- after a couple of hours in pool, our laundry is done - we toss it on the bed and everyone folds their own! Makes for light and easy packing - we just bring Tide pods and dryer sheets in ziploc bags.

Anyone flying in on or around August 14th: Have your Magical Express tags arrived? I kind of feel like we had ours by this point before our other trips. Not worried because of past experience I know they can get them out quickly after a phone call. Just wondering at what point I should consider making a call.
We haven’t received our’s yet. Last year our tags went to the travel agent’s office so I had to call her and she brought them over. I am going to wait about a week before calling.

I am seriously considering canceling our dinner there. The boys really wanted to go for the veal, they don’t care about characters, so now that it is off the menu I don’t think it is worth it.

We are doing the same thing this time! We are going to try and do rope drop each morning then an afternoon nap and back to the parks. Last time we stayed for the good night kiss at MK. It was a great way to end the day.

Same..... I scheduled some laundry time! I brought the Tide Pods our last trip and it worked out perfectly, especially being able to use more than one machine at a time.

Word of advise I never would have taken if it didnt happen to me....pack all undergarments, or at least 3 - 4 days in your carryon if youre flying. Sadly one year, our luggage didnt make it and we had NOTHING. I now pack 2 outfits, PJs and days worth of undergarments in my carryon. Of course Ive never had a luggage issue since, but I know if I dont............

Saves from a stressful first day inconvenience. If I could have had a meal and a good night sleep before having to deal with buying new clothes for our family of 5 it would have been much better.

I do this too! We had one year where the kids' suitcase arrived from ME in our room and ours didn't at first. Thankfully about 4 hours later our 2nd one with mine and DH's clothes arrived but it was a little nerve wrecking at first. Now I split the clothes between all suitcases so if one comes up missing we still have something for everyone, along with what we take in our backpacks on the plane.

I told hubby we are each putting a couple outfits in each others suitcases just in case one of ours is lost. We will both have an outfit in our carry on as well.

The only reason I'm doing it for The Evil Queen.

we have never stayed for the good night kiss but I did tell hubby I want to this year.
