*** The Official August 2016 Thread! ***

So exciting reading about you all starting to pack. We are still 7 weeks out *sniff sniff* Since I have done our fast passes, now I am obsessing over checking wait times during the day haha..

We got our Garden Grocer order in at 60 days out to get the discount, I ordered a case of water and just some munchie snacks. Got some cider and beer. Hopefully I haven't ordered to much stuff that it will be left behind.

Started grabbing a few things each weekend when I am out shopping, I found a small nylon back pack that folds into itself and is a tiny pouch, figured it would be good to stuff in the bottom of hubbies back pack in case we need to throw wet cloths or something in. I am hoping to get away with a small purse I found a small nylon purse just big enough to put my phone, wallet etc in and hubby has a tiny back pack he can carry.

I want to go NOW!!!!

Staying offsite with my family of 5, and two sets of inlaws from Aug 16 to Sept 1 (so 9 in total). Got magic bands and memory maker for my birthday and just synced them to my Disney experience. Just spent close to $9000 for all the park tickets (not cheap, especially with the horrible Canadian visa exchange rate ($1.3345). Bought them through Undercover Tourist and the Canadian at par deal with SeaWorld. However this is our first trip to Orlando so visiting Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, and Kennedy Space Centre.

With our plane tickets from Vancouver ($460 * 5), splitting the cost of our VRBO ($2000 we pay 1/2), park tickets, then food costs, etc we are looking at a $10 000 CAD trip. Scary thing is I hope we got a good deal.

However it will be worth it as will be in Orlando visiting all these great parks.

I feel your pain with the Canadian exchange :scared: We were lucky to get a great bounceback offer from our trip last year, but when you add on the exchange, yikes! It is SOOOOO worth it though. I have only been to Disneyland once (as a tween), but many times to WDW and I am hoping to get my DD's to DL someday:goodvibes. We are going to WDW August 16-September 2nd, so the same dates as you. Hope you have a terrific time visiting the mouse:thumbsup2

Our exchange rate is horrible, I was able to get flights from Van for about the same price as you with Delta. Just think of the memories you will have :) We were tossing the idea of staying a condo off site, but free dining popped up so I booked at a value. Only hubby and myself this trip so it is easy to fit into a small room.

Have a great trip!!!!

I just paid off our two weeks moderate package and my husband (who never pays attention to what we owe on our credit card until today) is having heart palpitations. :rotfl:I haven't told him I haven't paid off our room only at the Poly and our 3 night stay at the HardRock. :hyper: I'll wait til next week.

Literally cannot wait til my magic bands arrive...and wait DME luggage tags too?? Too many things to wait for!

Do you know if they still ship the luggage tags to Canada? Last time we went years ago I got them in the mail before we left. I did receive my Incredible booklet in the mail a few weeks ago that was exciting and pretty cute..

I am still expecting luggage tags (but we won't be using them as our first night will be at MCO Hyatt, using the DME in the morning, so we have to take our own luggage). If you want to make sure you get them I'd call DME (I called one year to get a few extra luggage tags and they were quick getting them to me).

This is from my CAA Travel Agent. She sent it to me yesterday:

"Wanting to let you know that Disney is presently holding all tickets for hotel check in with the pending postal strike."

We are just going to wear old magicbands and get everything else at check in I guess?

I feel like that commercial ... "I'm too excited to sleep" :hyper::hyper::hyper:

I have a few weeks before we go so maybe the strike will be over with by then.. if not oh well I can grab my bags and bring them to the bus :rolleyes1

Wish time would move a little quicker, I need this vacation!!!!

OK, so after us posting today about ME tags, my doorbell just rang 10 minutes ago ... UPS delivered my magical express tags:-) We're not actually going to use them, but still exciting to get them! So yes, Disney is still shipping the luggage tags to Canada. We leave in 39 days. :dancer:

For those that don't know park hours for DHS have been updated, YEA Fireworks at 9:30 until the 21st 8:45 until September 5th I just got woken up by a thunderstorm or illegal fireworks so double check your dates. The desert party should be out anytime from today on. Now I'm going back to bed all seems quiet now

Impatiently waiting for the dessert party!!!

I started packing this morning. Just little stuff. Like our rain poncho's. :fish:I HOPE we don't need them.

A few weeks back I went to the Disney store close to us, and picked up some new shirts for me so those are packed. I may try to sneak away for the travel size soaps and stuff.

I was at Target today and for our travel products I also have our ponchos and shirts that we made packed already. Just patiently waiting.
