*** The Official August 2016 Thread! ***

Any of you making anything for your trip? or am I the only one?

I have some stuff going on. I made custom Magic Band skins with MagicYourBand. I designed them at home in Photoshop, and then uploaded them for printing. I am quite happy with how they came out.

We are also going to do Mickey Head Tie Die shirts, with our names air brushed in the Mickey Heads. Our first attempt at them came out . . . well, actually, the problem is that they really DIDN'T come out lol. For those considering tie dying, I would advise against RIT dyes. Our second attempt will be done with a kit from Darma Trading, which I am expecting to work out a whole lot better.

The only thing I'm making are sandwiches for our first day of driving so we can keep stopping to a minimum. :hyper:

YES YES YES! We used to stop and eat fast food on the way. Eventually, I realized that it cost quite a fair bit of money, AND took a bunch of time that we could better spend on the road, so now we make up sandwiches, and pack bottled water, and fruit, and make sure to have a roll of small garbage bags, and we eat on the run. When we stop, it is gas, bathroom, and throw away the bag of garbage. We are back in the car, and on the road in under 15 minutes. I have found that we can save a solid hour just by eating in the car the first day of driving.

I love your designs. My ds used a dye kit from AC Moore. Yep were going to pack food for the ride down saves time, money and my ds has a few allergies so some things just aren't worth stopping for.

I just got our overnight bag totally packed for the ride down! It's getting closer by the minute but my dh is in trouble again LOL. He told me he had something he needs for the trip and yup he didn't. guess who has to go to the store tomorrow?:furious::furious::furious:

Thank you! We used the dye kit from AC More last year, it worked well enough, but I thought it was time to try something a little more professional.

Overnight bag, yup, gonna have to pack one of them. I have a bit before it is time to do that though. Generally, I am the one that does most of the organizing, and packing, and shopping. I have found that keeping a Google doc with all the trip related information in it, including need / have lists, and lists of what has been packed, helps greatly. When the wife is in the store, she will look over the list, and pick up things we still need, and when I go, I can see what she has already gotten.

Received our magicbands today, we are 26 days out from check in. They were shipped in an unmarked brown box and the incredible box that I remember was on the inside. Easy enough to keep from the kids. View attachment 179590

Yeah!!! Magic Bands :-) I'm jealous. ::yes:: We're in Canada and don't get them till we arrive at our resort. I know that we can use our old ones, but it's exciting to get something in the mail from Disney:yay: It's getting so close to our trips. We are 6 weeks from today. I've started to pack, have a FP / ADR plan and

booked extra's, such as EMM and Pirates and Pals Firework cruise. Now I'm just stalking the Dis and tweaking my plans (not because they need tweaking, but because I can't seem to leave well enough alone:rotfl:)

Yes it is very exciting!! I'm trying to not tweak any plans but I have a feeling some will happen in the next few weeks. I don't have anything packed really just hidden from the kids.

Got our bands on Saturday, 25 days, we leave in 24....I can say, this has been pretty easy so far. I could update that once we are there. Last time I think I spent over 60 hours trying to get ADR's. We never book too far out, this time 89 days. I have moved my fast passes around probably 6-8 times since my window opened due to more ADR's opening up. Surprised how easy it has been this time to get CRT, BOG, OHANA, and others at optimum times for us. Grateful! Our daughters are older, one just graduated college, so this could be our last family trip for a while, bittersweet. Plan to take tons of photos and hit every photographer I can find with memory maker. And yes, I once again said...this is going to be a relaxed trip, but doesn't look like that is going to happen, with 2 star wars lovers, character lovers, the list goes on and on, how can you take time to rest. You can rest when you get home. :) When you pay this much for a trip, you might as well live it to the fullest.

Uh huh. They should be good for about 3 years for everything. After that point, they will still work for opening doors, park tickets, and FP+, but long range stuff like automatically linking your on ride pictures will stop working.
