***The Official April 2016 Thread!***

:cool1: Well, this is it! 3 months to go, and I am now officially "All In" - I just bought my plane ticket! Not the cheapest I'd seen the fares, but still less than I've paid in past years and well within my price target. Flying Delta for the first time. Paying my second visit to ATL (only previous stop there was 2013 on the old AirTran). Now I just need to get my flight info added for DME.

3 Months, 3 Months! Jiminy Cricket is getting closer to the end of the ticker!

Hi, I'll be there April 8-21, a few days with family, and also some solo days. If any other solos may like to meet up, you're welcome to send me a message (at least a few weeks ahead, if possible). I have space in some of my dining reservations if someone may like to join a meal.

Yay! Btw, how did your Christmas surprise for your family go? (I think it was you. Lol.)

It was me!! It went awesome! I though my husband might suspect, but after his reaction, he definitely did not! I knew the kids wouldn't quite get it (just bc we aren't actually going until April), so the surprise was mostly for him!

I recorded it and he was so shocked. He made me stop recording bc he didn't want to get misty eyed on camera. Lol...he was so ridiculously happy and surprised!

My girls just grabbed their magic bands and said "this is for if we ever get to go back to Disney!!" Haha... Now they understand that we are going back, but said it is going to take forever to get here :)

Awww. How awesome!

Happy dance time! My best friend and I have been desperately wanting to do a "girls' trip" to Disney. Neither of us have done a full blown trip, staying on site, dinner in the parks, the whole shebang... today we picked our dates and resort, booked our flights and made our hard to get ADRs!! One of my CM friends is doing our resort reservation for us tomorrow so we can use his friends & family discount.

So here's our trip:
Polynesian, April 18-25, regular dining plan
ADRs: CRT breakfast, Ohana breakfast, BOG dinner, others TBD.

Squeeeee!!!

Edit: Resort booked and we did some math. Since we were planning a 3-4 day trip in the fall and another trip next January, it made more sense for us to purchase Annual Passes. Big squeeeee!!

Hi! We're joining the April party a little late - I had been planning for a July trip (to coincide with a conference I have to attend) that would have also been a birthday celebration for DD6 and DH. DH and I decided that we want nicer weather, though, so we bumped up our trip to April. I booked the airfare with Southwest and got a great deal (3 RT tickets for under $500), though unfortunately it involves a 2-hour ride to/from a farther airport instead of using one of the airports that are only an hour away - but I just can't talk myself into spending an extra $400-$500 to save those two hours of driving... Rooms are also booked:

AoA Cars 4/23-4/28 (with a day trip to Legoland during this time)
Poly 4/28-5/2

This will be our second trip to WDW - all three of us went for the first time last March (we survived a first visit during Easter week!) with my brother and SIL, who have been a few times now. DH wasn't overly excited but went because it was DD's first trip - and a surprise - so he wanted to see her reaction (which was so great!). Little did he know he would be bitten by the Disney bug... :D Last year we stayed at Pop and liked the theme but had SO much trouble sleeping there. We're crossing our fingers and hoping that our room choices this year will be a little quieter. Some other things we are doing differently this time are going during a less crowded time of year, adding the park hopper option to our tickets, planning to take more breaks, and not using the DDP (just didn't feel we really got our money's worth last time). We did make a few ADRs, though, for places we just loved or didn't get to try last time - and I've been able to find everything we wanted even though we just decided on the dates for the trip last week!

4/24 Crystal Palace 8:10am
4/26 Sci Fi 12:50pm
4/27 Akershus 8:05am
4/28 BOG 8:05am
4/29 Spirit of Aloha 5:15pm
4/30 BOG 4:00pm
5/1 'Ohana 6:30pm (I'm debating whether we should keep this or go for the room service dinner I keep reading about, though!)

Looks like we will be arriving at Poly just a few days after you leave! What room requests are you thinking of making? We booked a standard, but I'm still overwhelmed by the choices we have, and wondering what construction will look like by the time we arrive.

I'm considering going the Annual Pass route, too. My brother and SIL are expecting their first child to arrive next week, so they are already planning an extended family trip for his first birthday next January. I'm 99% sure that DD and I will go, but DH is still on the fence about whether he would join us. If I buy an AP for just myself and get DH and DD's tickets through UT, I could save at least $300 on the combined cost of the two trips, compared to just buying MYW packages each time. It would be an even bigger benefit if I decide to visit the world by myself during that July conference... :rolleyes1 I'm hesitant to take the plunge, though, just in case something comes up and I can't go next January - it's so far away!

Aww we'll be just missing each other! We fly out on the 23rd to go back home. :)

As far as the AP route, we were considering the same things (what if we aren't able to make it back?) but in the end decided that this would basically force us to be ready to book another trip. I *really* want to do the Enchanted 10k in 2017 so that right there is another full trip and my bestie is in full support of another week+ trip in Feb in order to support me doing the race.

96 days until our 12 day trip w our last 3 days on the beach in Daytona!! We'll have a chance to rest our tired feet before we go home.
I've now got the rooms booked at Wyndham Bonnet Creek April 23-May 1 and May 1-4 at the Wyndham on the coast.
We're flying first class for free with miles and I got a great deal on a rental car.
ADRs are made and I'll just keep trying for BOG.
This is our 30th anniversary trip.
Yipeeeee!!

Hi! It has been a very busy time with the holidays. And I have been going through Disney depression worse than ever because November of last year we were in Disney. April still seems far away!
I would have had the same dilemma for the DDP but we are staying off property so it is a non issue now. Last trip to Disney we had free dining and this would be our first trip my oldest son would be a Disney adult. (He turns 10 in January.) But if we had stayed on property I would have paid out of pocket because he would want to eat off the kids menu anyway and his 2 year old brother eats more than him. Instead I am buying gift cards ahead of time for meals so it is kinda like pre-paying. Not sure about the trading credits.

Another chunk of time has passed and just getting around to checking out the posts here again.. Hope you had a wonderful holiday! I am still up in the air about the DDP.. hubby is no help with helping crunch numbers to figure it out, my gut says its not worth it, but i for whatever reason continue to hang onto it. If I do wind up cancelling it, I will prob get a visa GC for the amount of the DDP to see how I make out at the end of the vaca. Happy 10th Birthday to your son, hope he enjoys his day!!

I would definitely consider this move. It is just so much food. We did this last year and the tips we spent seemed to equate to a whole dinner at a quick service restaurant.

Thats a very good point too! I do already have all our restaurants booked though, which I know I could cancel but a few are charecter dines which my kids are looking forward to so I would be dealing with the tipping anyway lol. I'm so flip-floppy on it, driving myself nuts lol. I know I will be mad at myself if it doesnt work out in my favor whichever way i go lol.

I found this website really helpful for figuring out if the dining plan was worth it for us - http://distripplanner.com/. It's a calculator using your specific dates and restaurant choices. We generally come out a few hundred ahead with the number of character meals that we like to do with the kids.

I second the recommendation of the site above. For me, it confirmed what I already suspected: DDP is not for me, but I'm a solo adult who doesn't "eat right" to get the benefit. It's a good way to get an idea of how the DDP might work (or not) for you.
