***The Official AKV Owners And Lovers Thread***. Come And Chat

Thanks for the advice! Your encouragement before did make me realize that with my points at 3 bedroom grand villa IS possible.
Glad to be of service. We love AKV for reunions and it will likely be one of our top choices in the future. Most of our family and friends love it.

Kidani pool vs Jambo pool which is better? Also I got to thinking, if I’m staying Kidani going to the Jambo pool isn’t considered pool hopping right?
Kidani is the better pool and it's a bit less crowded from my experience.

Kidani - better slide, awesome splash pad.

Jambo - might be a tad larger overall. Seems to be more crowded. Spa near flamingos. Plus the closer access to a great quick service @ the Mara.

If you are a guest of the AKL resort you have full access to both pools.

Im leaning towards just doing the pool at AKV and skipping going to BB. Such a tough decision, but we don't love crowds especially at a water park where you need to have place to sit. My son had a blast at the VDH/DLH pool so he may not even miss BB since hes still pretty young.

Okay ya'll one last question... I think. I just reviewed a plan disney question because if we skip BB we may want to head to Ft Wilderness for archery. The plan disney person said its 46 minutes to get there. Is that pretty accurate?

Me again. My stay is next week so I’ll be done pestering you all with my questions.

Anyone staying at AKV can use the amenities at either building. The Jambo pool is larger than Kidani and has a number of shaded areas around the pool where you can sit, and Kidani has few shaded areas. Kidani has the much longer slide into the pool. Kidani also has a better separate kids water play area.

As far as using the Jambo pool if staying at Kidani, the distance from your room to Jambo can be very far. The Kidani building, which has the lobby in the middle which faces west, has a north wing and south wing. From lobby is about 1/2 mile walk to Jambo lobby. The Kidani building, end to end, is near 2/3 miles long. The southern wing is closest to Jambo and an exit to ground floor from last elevator on that south wing of Kidani gives you about a 1/4 mile walk to Jambo. If you are in a room near the end of the north wing at Kidani, the walking distance to Jambo's lobby exceeds 2/3's of a mile. There is shuttle bus that travels between the two lobby areas throughout the day and evening.

I will use the shuttle. I just read another post about the hallways being 1/3 of a mile to the rooms :crazy2:

Going via Disney busses and including bus wait time it may average 46 minutes. Driving yourself it’s not near that long.

Ya’all I am over the moon happy. I chose to stick with my savanna studio at Kidani. I was stalking the website and saw the night before was not rented and I was hoping that would help us get our room early. We took the red eye and no matter how hard I tried I got zero sleep.
We arrived and got our room at 6:45 am 🥳🥳🥳. I’m gonna eat some food, watch some animals and take a nap. Loving your home resort already long hallways and all ❤️. Thanks for all your help.

Thoughts on a request for Kudu Trail overlooking Sunset savanna for a DVC Jambo savanna studio reservation in late August? Likelihood? Pros and cons of this location?

Thanks!

Ite nice to own at the only resort with club level! Now I'm looking at those rooms for my birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉

Hi newbie SSR resale owner ( still waiting on Disney to set up my account).
I have a question regarding our first booking August 2026.
I’m thinking of booking SSR for 7 nights then hopefully moving to AKL for 6 nights if available. I need a 2 bed. My question is should I borrow points to get a savanna view or as it’s our first stay just go for a standard view and then have points to use the following year.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Also I have teens should I go for a certain area. Thank you

Personally if staying at Kidani I’d opt for savanna view, w/ Jambo I’d likely risk a resort (aka standard) view & request Kudu trail (which all abut Sunset savanna.) But, I like seeing the animals & maybe that’s less important to you? In your situation a Kidani dedicated 2 bedroom which has 2 queen beds in that second bedroom v. a lock off 2 br. (Jambo’s 2 br.s are all lock offs) & that 3rd bathroom in the Kidani 2 br.’s may work better?

Agree 100%. The savanna view at AKL is very special and would certainly be worth the points for us. I also agree the Kidani dedicated 2BR with 2 actual queen beds (along with the king), and a third bathroom is the perfect family room!

Super excited to be staying at AKL Jambo in less than 4 weeks! DH has never stayed at AKL, so I'm excited to share a new resort with him (we almost always end up at BWV).

I stayed in a 1br value last July, and the room had a regular ol' Mr. Coffee type coffee maker. I was traveling solo and was only there 3 nights, so I never actually used it. Just got Joffrey's in the park.

What kind of coffee/filter should I bring for a studio? Thanks!!

This was the coffee pot in the studio portion of our 2 br. at Jambo in Dec. ‘23.IMG_5589.jpeg

We are staying at Jambo in early June. We have never eaten at Jiko. Anyone eaten there recently that can chime in? Is it worth it, it will be just myself and my wife. After 8 days with four girls we will be ready to slip away for an evening. If so, what're the things we should absolutely try? We do not have any issues trying new things, our first visit to DW was at Kidani years ago and loved Sanaa, no dietary issues whatsoever.

Thank you in advance.

Tried Jiko for first time last year and would definitely recommend. Had hard time choosing from all the menu choices. Sampled wine and cocktail, appetizers, mains, enhancements, and the deserts. Was a perfect meal experience. Here is just a few items: Boar tenderloin, Halibut, and Lamb shank.
