*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

Just a heads up for all that will be in DL July 11th, 12th, or 13th. Scot Bruce, the incredible Elvis Tribute artist, will be performing at Tomorrowland Terrace starting at 7 pm each of these nights. If you like Elvis or just a great show do yourself a favor and catch a set or two! He's so good we plan our trips to DLR based on when he will be there! My daughter and I will be at all of his sets the 11th and 12th, hope to see you there!

Leaving today to start the DIS Exclusive Backstage Magic trip that includes DL. My goal is not to be on forums or social media until I come back. I wanted to thank everyone in this thread and the forums for all of their help in planning what free time I may have.

Have a Super Magical, Fantasmic Trip..... Disney, Family & Fun is what it's all about...

Hi everyone!

We are so excited to be heading on our first trip to DLR this month!! We leave home tomorrow (7/5), but won't arrive in Anaheim until 7/11 - We are driving - from Arkansas - with four kids ages 1 to 10. We are staying at the Anaheim Islander. Right now, the plan is:
7/12 - DCA
7/13 - whale watching
7/14 - Disneyland
7/15 - Disneyland (and DS's 6th birthday and DH and my 14th anniversary)
7/16 - DCA

I say this is the plan, but we have park hoppers so we may or may not stay in the intended park. We don't have any ADR's and are planning to primarily eat CS. It looks like the CS choices are pretty good. We are WDW vets, but super excited to try DLR for the first time! I am slightly panicked that I don't have the same detailed touring plans that I usually do for WDW, but am also looking forward to a relaxed trip where we just see what we see.

HI!!! Welcome to our thread!! How exciting for your first trip!! We drive from MO so not to awfully far from you guys!! Ypur leaving out today have a great trip

Leaving first thing in the morning! Can't wait!
Everyone, have safe travels and a great trip! :cool1:

Have a Super Fantasmic & Magical Vacation...

We arrived early this afternoon. We had a perfect day! Temps in upper 80's all day and mid 70's tonight. Our hotel room was ready when we arrived aprox 12:30 and we are in the Adventure Tower upper level, pool view. Rode BTM, the train, Space, Matterhorn, Buzz, Star Tours, Alice, IJ, Tof T, TSMM. and Soarin all between 1:30 pm and 10 pm, so needless to say the crowds are not huge, and all attractions were up and running just fine! Had a great lunch at Bengal Barbques and an amazing dinner at Cafe O. Looking forward to 8 more magical days!

What a wonderful start!!! Hope the magic continues!

Vacation starts today!!!! Couldn't sleep all night, kept waking up. Too excited to sleep!

We arrived at PPH about 12:30 after 8 hours of travel from Michigan (between airport and the 5 hour flight) We went into DL and enjoyed lunch at the Plaza. Rode Star Tours, Pirates, HM (which stopped more times that we could count) and used a FP for Indy. Almost got FPs for Splash but the family's energy was sagging and we went back to the hotel to relax.

Our room is nice with a dandy view of the 3rd floor pool and parking lot. Missing White Water Snacks... Got take out from the PCH Grill for dinner.

The crowds were very reasonable yesterday. Of course we are used to being here between Christmas and NYE. Many rides had a standy by time of 15 minutes or less. It was almost 90 in the afternoon.

Early entry at DCA today. Seeing that the family has been awake since about 4 (our 7 am) we'll be at the GCH entrance and ready to go!

Strange seeing the place without Christmas decorations!

Just found out this morning that my nieces are sick!! Hoping it passes quickly and that my SIL doesn't get it too. My MIL already had it---that's how the girls got it! (SIL & nieces have been staying with Grandma & Grandpa since early last week) Glad we have separate rooms.....

Hi guys, I am so excited to say that DH and I will be in DLR on 7/8. We are from Chicago and our kids are with their grandparents for the week (they live down state from us), so DH and I decided to head to Las Vegas for a couple of days (7/7-7/10). Then I got the bright idea that we could drive a few hours more and go to DLR for the day, spend the night and then return to Las Vegas for the remainder of our trip. To my wonderful surprise, DH agreed :yay: . I know that the parks will be busy but the plan is to take it slow and really soak up the atmosphere, of course use FP for the bigger rides and if we stumble across a ride with not a long SB wait, jump in line. I also made reservations for the Blue Bayou for dinner that night. Last June, my whole family (with the kiddos) went to DLR for the first time and loved everything about it. I really did not think that DH would agree to go back a year later, especially without the kiddos :goodvibes.
