*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

Greetings from Disneyland! We are having a great time! Time change really messed us up for a day but are better. Crowds aren't bad except for around splash mountain since its been getting hot in the afternoon.
It is totally different then WDW but we like it here.

Off to Ariel's Grotto for dinner shortly.

WOW!!!!!! - you guys are making us all want to be at Disney right now.....

Have lots of fun and tell Mickey Hello for us..:wave2:

I'm at the parks right now and just wanted to share a couple of things. Space Mountain was supposed to be closed till Thursday but they did a soft open today. If you are coming before Thursday, it's open! Second, we did the Welcome to Disneyland tour. We aren't newbies to DLR, but it's been a couple years so we tried it. We did early entry to DCA and rode RSRs, California screamin, and Toy Story. The tour started at 10:30 am in DL. We rode Pirates and did the Its tough to be a bug attraction. They made lunch reservations for us when we checked in for the tour and made VIP seating reservations for us at Mickey and the Magical Map (they actually have reserved seats vs the alternative of only priority entry for Aladdin-no reserved seats). They gave us fastspasses for WOC, and no time restriction fast passes for Soarin and Star Tours. Todemonstrate how to use FP machines, they had us get Indy FPs. At $25 a person (we paid $20 a ticket with DVC discount), I thought it was a good deal. I don't think I would do it again because we are pretty familiar with the parks, but it was a fun one time tour and it was nice to have stuff planned out like that because it was a pretty busy day at both parks. Tonight we are trying F! - The dessert and reserved seating. Just thought I'd share for all still planning!
Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a wonderful time! Nice to know you're able to get tgecDVC discount! We arrive on Sunday! When is your trip done?

We love Ariel's grotto...enjoy!

I can't decide whether to tell my DGD6 about our surprise trip, or just wake her up and put her in the car and then tell her... she knows we're going in November, but she has no idea that we are also going in 9 days! :rolleyes2

I personally could not keep it from my DD.. I am the world's worst when keeping a secret...

I have to tell my DD everything..:lmao:

Ha! I just checked Mouse Wait! The waits seems pretty manageable right now, especially for a holiday week. Hope it's the same in two weeks.

Me too! We leave two weeks from today! This will be my 5th trip to Disneyland and each time I get more excited!!!:yay:

That would be awesome. I've been preparing myself and the kids for way-longer lines than we usually encounter in October, so if it ends up being less-crowded-than-expected, everyone will be thrilled. :cool1:

I'm just joining this thread now!! I'll be celebrating Disneyland's 59th birthday with four days at the parks beginning July 15, staying at the Hotel Indigo. I'm a DLR and WDW vet, but can't wait for this trip because I have some extra magic planned.

I'll be spending my first three days solo, which is always great, because I'm usually at the parks from open to close, and nobody who goes with me can keep up. My partner will fly in on Friday and join me for a day, before we leave SoCal to continue our mini vacation.

This will the my third time at Disneyland on its birthday (July 17). I've done the 40th and 50th (and yes, I'll be there next year as well). I'm excited about this year's birthday because I'll be doing the Walk in Walt's Disneyland Footsteps tour (never done the full tour) on Disneyland's birthday. That should be special. Oh yeah, I can't miss the opportunity for an opening. So I've booked the inaugural Disney California Story tour at DCA on the 17th as well.

This is the most excited I've been about a Disneyland trip since the 50th anniversary in 2005. I'm ready, and counting down the days. Maybe I'll see some fellow Disers there. :goodvibes

I'm wondering if the World Cup has anything to do with the low crowds right now. Since the US lost the crowds might pick up from here.

We will be there when you are! See you in a couple weeks!

From what I am reading it has alot to do with annual pass blockout days. The worst day seems to be Sunday when 3 levels of AP are unblocked and locals take advantage of the day off. Saturdays actually look great. I'm thinking about switching around my plans to visit the parks on Saturday and possibly just doing EMH on Sunday.

One week to go! This time next week we will be on a plane headed to DLR! Where has the time gone?

We leave Thursday.

We went to the F! Dessert thing last night. I'm really short so have never been able to see the whole show so it was quite a treat to see it in its entirety. The folks working the event were fun to chat with. They were very generous with the drinks even when we stayed to watch fireworks. It was a splurge, but well worth it!

Ok, I finally decided and just paid for PhotoPass+! Excited to try it out!! :thumbsup2

You will love it! I got it and used it on our last vacation and it was top of the list for this trip. The ride pictures we got were priceless :rotfl2: Plus it is nice for me to be in the pictures instead of always behind the camera :goodvibes
