~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

It's the heat. :scared: Our last two trips were in September, and I can honestly say I was miserable a lot of the time. The deals are great, crowds low, etc. ... but the heat that time of year is too much. :crazy2:

Never say never, of course, but right now I'm not feeling it! :rotfl:

I did love the December weather :) I'm fully prepared for the sweating though. Hoping it means a better calorie burn for more snacks! :)

Were going in our 4th September trip... Are we just crazy??

We went in September 2008 and it wasn't really the heat but the humidity that was bad. But it didn't keep us from planning another trip this September and August 2014. I live in Central Texas so I'm used to the heat. Lots of 100+ days in the summer around here. Just drink lots of water.

The past 2 years we've gone the last week in September and combined it with our trip to the Keys and before that had been going to just the Keys in Sept. so I'm not concerned about the weather. Yes, it can be very hot - the first year and I remember 1 day hitting 95 but I'm prepared for that. We also want to spend a day at one of the water parks too so I'm considering what time will be better for that. We took our kids to Castaway Bay at Cedar Point not too long ago and now they're hooked on water parks :) Good thing we're only 30 minutes from there...
Back on track, for those how have gone in November, in the first half has the weather been decent enough to swim?

Good evening, Everyone! (EST here in NJ...)
Just wanted to update that Where my dates haven't changed, I got a sweet upgrade for my stay. My boss who is a DVC member just came back from a vacation gave my girlfriend and I some points to use. :hyper: So we will now be staying at the Bay Lake Tower with a theme park view! Still a little shocked, but my girlfriend and are are quite grateful!

Forget the summer, is it February yet???:dance3:

We all booked 13/11/14 CARIBBEAN BEACH not even been once and booked for 2nd lol

Planning a trip over Presidents Week 2014!!!!:yay:

Hello, and :welcome: to the group! Glad you decided to join us!

What are your dates and where will you be staying so I can get you added to the February list.

A split stay would be fun! They re did the whole bakery too, I haven't been in it since then. DH and I stopped there a few times last trip and walked around and ate cupcakes at night. I really enjoy the atmosphere too. That is great he is excited :) Makes planning easier to me. :) have you run many marathons/races in WDW?

Sorry for the lag on the response!

I have only done the one at WDW. I live in SoCal, so I have done the DLR 1/2 the past two years as well as the Tinkerbell 1/2. I am doing the Dumbo Double Dare this year at DLR, which is the 10K on Saturday and the 1/2 on Sunday. :scared1:

I keep saying I need to move to FL for a year to do all the running events out there and get it out of my system. However, the runDisney events are getting so exensive, I may be priced out of them pretty quick here.

DBF is getting really excited. Looks like it will be a split stay. As to which way to go with it (POFQ at the start or end) will mostly depend on if there is a Free Dining promotion for the timeframe we are looking at. Either way we will end up paying OOP for a few days dining. I know that some people are way against the DDP, however I adore it. I know I *might* spend a bit more than if I paid OOP, but I prefer having my full trip, aside from souviners, paid up front. It feels less painful for some reason. :)

Hope everyone is having a good day and staying cool! We are already breaking weather records in May, so I have a small feeling its going to be a hot summer.

I feel the exact same way, Shunasee! It really is a good savings for us, as we use all our credits by the end, and it's worth the piece of mind knowing that everything is taken care of. Are you going for the standard or quick service dining plan?

We'll be heading down first week of April for Spring break with close friends. Our family will be at The Polynesian and they'll be at the Wilderness Lodge. We haven't made too many plans except I wanna take them to BOG. They haven't been since the expansion opened and I can't wait to show it to them.

We are also heading down for a weekend during Star Wars weekend we just haven't figured out which one yet or resort. I'm leaning towards AoA bc we stayed there in December and loved it.

I am anxious for the prices to come out so we can really start planning. As it stands we plan on AoA May 6-13!

Long time lurker first time poster here! :goodvibes Our October 2013 trip just got pushed into May/June of 2014. Any idea when Star Wars Weekend dates will be released? Hubby is a huge fan and it's the only reason he's wanting to go to WDW at all. I am an uber planner though, so I want to figure out our dates so I can get everything else going. I have googled but can find nothing! So now I turn to the DISboards and all you lovely people! Help! :worship:

Hi Everyone!!! I'm joining in on your group. We are actually heading to the World in just 8 days!!!! :dance3: But after I get home I just KNOW I'm going to have major Disney Depression. So I'm going to get rolling on planning our next Disney trip! :lmao: This trip we are staying onsite at POR, but for our 2014 trip we are looking into staying at Bonnet Creek. We have gone in May in 2012 and 2013 and I LOVE this time of year, but for 2014 we're thinking of going in October! My DS's birthday is at the end of October, so I'm thinking maybe around the 3rd week.

Happy planning everyone!!

SWW dates were not released until December 2012 for this years upcoming SWW. They seem to be very slow with producing information on this event. Only a few weeks out from the start of SWW 2013 they are finally now just starting to announce celebritey guest and entertainment. There is a whole thread devoted to it on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies page. Even though you're not going to this years you might want to check it out. There is a wealth of information on it. We are going to be there on May 24 for our first time. For the past several years it has been the last 2 weekends in May and the first 2 weekends in June. So if you plan your trip for that time period you should be ok. (as long as Disney doesn't go changing anything!) :)

I just keep the philosophy that there's no calories in Disney :)
For as much as I eat, I walk more there too to wear it off so it equals out :rotfl2:

on another note - thinking of changing our dates to September. Can I get opinions on when is better to pull a 1st grader out for a week? We start Aug 20 that year and would look to go the 3rd or 4th week of Sept. or the 1st week of Nov. Sept. would be pulling her out for the full 5 days while November she's already scheduled off 2 so would only miss 3. I keep going back and forth on what I want to do. :confused3

last trip was our first with QSDP, to say the least, we all ate way too much, but I managed to lose 10+ pounds! so with that, next trip I will hope for the same!

Right now the dates are 2/13-2/23 with wiggle room. We may bump up the arrival date to the 10th or 11th if needed. :)

If you end up changing the arrival date, just post and I can change it as needed. :goodvibes

Once you figure out what your dates are for SWW, just post and I'll get you added to the May or June list as well. Glad you decided to join us!

:welcome: As someone already posted above, the dates for SWW have been released in December for the past two years. Historically it runs weekends from mid-May to mid-June, but of course it's always WDW's option to change those dates. :teeth:

We'd love to have you as part of our group, so feel free to stay and continue posting! Once you get your dates figured out and where you're staying, just post and I can get you added to the list.

If any of you who are new to the group have questions, do not hesitate to ask! :goodvibes Look forward to getting to know you.

We did the plan with one QS and one TS. I really worked out for us - we used the deserts for things that we could throw in the backpack and use later such as cookies or brownies then we saved our snack credits and on the last day went to Goofy's Candy Company and stocked up on snacks for the drive home.

I feel the exact same way, Shunasee! It really is a good savings for us, as we use all our credits by the end, and it's worth the piece of mind knowing that everything is taken care of. Are you going for the standard or quick service dining plan?

I did the QS the first trip out there and enjoyed it. However, I much prefer the standard. I have found it is more than enough food and end up getting snacks for the plane with the left over snack credits.

Last trip, I had to convince the people I went with (mom and bff), that it was enough food. After a couple of days, they believed me.

I do supplement it, and bring breakfast bars for the room.

I changed our dates from October to September. I am taking advantage of the Labor Day holiday so the kids won't have to miss but a couple days of school. We will check in on Saturday, August 30 and check out on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd. We have decided to book a family suite probably Nemo at AofA. I'm so excited but it seems so far away!

Anyone have any experience with Memorial Day crowds? Thinking of going down the Friday or Saturday before and staying through the week. If we have Saturday and Sunday in the parks, we can just plan a resort day on Memorial Day - we would probably be ready for a break By then anyway. My oldest gets out 2 days after the holiday, but I know they won't be doing anything academically in those days.
