~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Just a quick update on where we are for next year ...

Basically, no plans have yet been made for either Vegas or WDW. We're still trying to figure out what month we would do Vegas if we go there, and where we would stay in WDW since we'll have less money if we do both trips.

One way or another, we'll be doing WDW in 2014 ... for how long, on what dates, or where we'll stay remains a mystery at this point in time.

Anyone else on the fence right now? :confused3

Still planning on the week after Thanksgiving. Have changed resorts in my head a zillion times. :lmao: Planning to watch how the hours change and what discounts come out this year to be prepared for next year. Still trying to convince DH we should go this year, but he is not biting.

You should try hypnosis.....

I changed our dates!

We were (really I was), planning a trip for 03/14 for DBF and I. I am moving it up to 02/14. We will be out there for a full 10 days! He wants to stay at Boardwalk, but I dearly love POFQ, and dont know if the upgrade is worth it.

Although it would be nice to be walking distance from Epcot (my favorite park).

*wishing* they do free dining in the time period we are looking at as well. If not no biggie.

ITA. Subliminal messages. Start leaving WDW stuff around the house. :teeth: Grab a planning brochure, order the DVD and randomly play it. :rotfl:

You need to find the "emotional connection" and start working it into mundane situations ;) Aside from my kids really making DH enjoy Disney - for him it's the customer service. So, every time Disney offers us exceptional service I mention it, or use a time on our trip to reference...

Hehe he works in the service industry and actually uses Disneys customer service as an example during orientations hehe

I would stay at the BWI or BWV for 2 very important reasons

1) Boardwalk Bakery (yuuuuum)
2) France - and their bakery....

Cupcakes and eclairs from like 7am-11pm!

No news here...still on the fence of we want to keep our late may/June trip or move it up to spring break. Spring break crowds scare me...but I just don't know if I want to do2 week long trips in a 2 month time period (WDW June, DC August) and then all the other stuff we have going on in the summer...

After crunching some numbers with room only and FD, it seems POP is our best choice for a room. If Disney decides to bring back FD during our time frame next year, I would consider upgrading from QSD to the regular dining plan.

The house hunting is exhausting and at times frustrating but I'm optimistic our house is out there. :goodvibes

I'm aiming to save towards the lower end so we can still make this trip next year, but because of said house, any extra extra money will be put towards misc house items.

Hope every one has a great day!

OOO, that sounds delightful. I have never even been inside Boardwalk. We ran by it last November for the W&D 1/2 and that is the closest I have been. I always figured why torture myself, when I typically am not able to afford to stay there.

DBF and I were talking about the trip last night, he is pushing for Boardwalk. We also talked about the possiblity of a split stay, which will just depend on what, if any, promotions are going on when we go. He was pretty amazed all the stuff we were talking about already. I was pulling out menu's and such, so we can also have a good idea on where to eat. He is *almost* as excited as I am. Hopefully by the time we can book, he will be just as crazy as I am. :rotfl2:

Oh wow - that would be dangerous. And delicious. I already know that when we go (year and a half away still) that I am hitting up both starring rolls and either Boardwalk or Mainstreet bakery and getting a cupcake and cinnamon roll. YUM. I need to stay away from the Disney food blogs!

A split stay would be fun! They re did the whole bakery too, I haven't been in it since then. DH and I stopped there a few times last trip and walked around and ate cupcakes at night. I really enjoy the atmosphere too. That is great he is excited :) Makes planning easier to me. :) have you run many marathons/races in WDW?

It's vacation right? :) I have my eye on a carrot cake cookie and Nutella waffle for our next trip.

I just keep the philosophy that there's no calories in Disney :)
For as much as I eat, I walk more there too to wear it off so it equals out :rotfl2:

on another note - thinking of changing our dates to September. Can I get opinions on when is better to pull a 1st grader out for a week? We start Aug 20 that year and would look to go the 3rd or 4th week of Sept. or the 1st week of Nov. Sept. would be pulling her out for the full 5 days while November she's already scheduled off 2 so would only miss 3. I keep going back and forth on what I want to do. :confused3

Is there any way you could get in touch with her 1st grade teacher to ask what material/topics they are planning to cover during your two potential vacation weeks? I have a few teacher friends and they always have a pretty good idea which units they'll be working on at any given point in the school year. So for example if the Sept week they're working on skip counting, and your daughter is already a pro at that, you might not feel like she'll be missing so much in terms of NEW content even though it would be a longer stretch of missed classes. (on the flip side, if they'll be working on something extra tricky during the Sept week you might want to lean toward the Nov week for your trip)
Just an idea :goodvibes

I always lose weight in Disney.... And I eat.... I believe it's the stroller races we have in the parking lots :)

My daughter is only in preschool right now, however this is my feeling with September. For us, I would not do it, only because I think it's too soon. It's a lot of habits, routines and such. I have anxiety and I hope my daughters never do, but something like that would make it hard for me. However, you know your child best :)

Planning a trip to POP from Jan 9 – 20! Going over Marathon and MLK weekends is scary to me, but this is the only time we could go for that long. Length of vacation beat out in the end. Can handle the crowds of MLK, curious about how Marathon will impact us. Thoughts?

Question, can anyone recommend an Annual Pass holders thread that discusses benefits and discounts? We were in Disney in the middle of Jan 2013 (vaca started on the 20th) for 11 days and bought Annual Passes so we could cover that trip and this upcoming trip. I want to take full advantage of our passes and would love to know more about the types of discounts Disney gives to APH. I was on Mouse for Less but they don’t give the kind of detail I want. Any recommendations? Thanks! (PS. Long time reader, first time posting!)

I'll put your dates on the February list - is it 2/14 - 2/24 then, or 2/23?

I'll put you down for POP! Love that place. :goodvibes

:welcome: to the group! I'll get you added to the January list. I'm not an AP holder, but perhaps someone in the group is and can point you in the right direction. :teeth:

If you have other questions, don't hesitate to ask! Glad you decided to join us! :goodvibes

I think that if you want to take her out for 5 days go for it! I have no problems giving this advice (I used to be a teacher), but unfortunately have not been able to follow it myself, lol ~ which is why we are looking at early June or spring break for our trip. However, if it were me and I was looking at later Sept. or Nov, I would pick Nov (I haven't looked at crowd calendars, so I guess it would depend on that) ~ but it will still be quite hot in September, and that is what I am dreading the most about our summer trip ~ the heat!

After our trip last year, no more September for us. :crazy2: I don't care how good the offer is ... even FD isn't enough to lure me to Florida that time of year again. :scared:

Were going in our 4th September trip... Are we just crazy??

It's the heat. :scared: Our last two trips were in September, and I can honestly say I was miserable a lot of the time. The deals are great, crowds low, etc. ... but the heat that time of year is too much. :crazy2:

Never say never, of course, but right now I'm not feeling it! :rotfl:
