Okay, here's the deal. I'm just kind of annoyed that The Office just came back for the second half of the season last week, and the new episode was mostly just a montage show of past clips. There were some funny parts, but mostly all stuff I'd seen before. This was after over a month of no new episodes.

Then, I was expecting a new episode last night, and no new episode! What was the point of them coming back from break if there was just going to be one new show, before going on break again, and only showing a clip show at that?

Just doesn't make sense to me.

I get the feeling that they're getting ready to end the show, but DH disagrees.

At one point I had read that the show wasnt returning from break until 2/4. My guess is that to ease the long layoff from early december until Feb they threw together the mostly a clip show to give us a "new" episode before next week. Of course, it will be on for only a couple of more weeks until the Olympics starts.

I don't think the show will be ending until at the very least after the 2010-11 season. I found that in 2008 Steve Carrell was signed for "at least" 3 more seasons which at worst would have been the 2008/9, 2009/10 and 2010/2011 seasons.

it all has to do with timing of sweeps, Olympics, and things like that - where and how they want the number of the season's episodes to fall.

most shows do one of those "compilation" (is that the right word?) around this point...

It's funny. When DH and I watched this episdoe, we both said how it was great to be re-visit some of our funniest old favorites. So we were glad to see the clips. I guess to each his own!

I didn't really like that episode at all. I wanted to turn it but DH made me stay. I hope that show stays on forever. We love it!

I think clips shows are a really good way to bring in new viewers, it gets newer viewers a glimpse into some of the running jokes and things like that. I enjoyed it because I just started watching The Office this year, of course I've netflixed all 5 seasons and have caught up now, but it was nice to pull all of the running gags together.

OP, I agree. I'm missing my office. It has been too long since we've had a good episode. For cryin' out loud, Pam has to be 9 months pregnant by now!!!

I did enjoy the new stuff, and they could've just done a whole episode of that, with the banker doing his evaluation. The clips were funny, but had I not been a regular viewer, and had no idea what they were about, they wouldn't of made any sense.

She's having the baby in a two-part episode, airing March 4 and March 11. Marked on my calendar!! :rotfl:
