~*~*~The Oct 2014 waiting patiently (or not so) for a discount thread ~*~*~

That bums me out, because I was really wanting one of the rooms at POR with the Murphy bed. :( I may have to start looking at other options.
.

Sorry I meant a preferred room at POR probably won't be included. We are discussing the RO discount and have our list ready when we book of 1st 2nd and 3rd choices. I want the Murphy bed too : (

Actually after I've priced it out... If we can't get POR for Fd (preferred room or not ) I'm going to rent points and stay at the GFV. It's 1720 for our length of stay and dates and POR is only 230 cheaper.. To have the monorail and kids club closer that's totally worth it.

We are thinking of renting DVC points or possibly even Bonnet Creek. We are wanting to take our two nephews (DH, myself, DS, and our two nephews), but possibly my bro and SIL would go as well. I am thinking a two bedroom at one of the DVC resorts would be a great deal, and a two bedroom at Bonnet Creek would be really cheap if we can get it!

I really, really want to stay on site, because my nephews (and Bro and SIL) have never been, but the savings may be big enough to make up for not having free dining.

We are all praying for Free Dining near our planned check in date of October 17th. We want to take my mom and dad who are retired and wouldn't be able to go otherwise, and the only way we can swing that is with Free Dining. Due to their grandchildren-watching schedule, their window of opportunity is pretty much 10/17 through 10/26. This is sort of like the trip of a lifetime, and we live so far from WDW so it's not easy to save up to go, so I am very nervous. :worried:

Just got back Saturday night from Disney and there was a bounce back offer in my room but the dates we can go in October(5-11th)were NOT included:(

I also see that POFQ(which is where we stayed and will be staying again)is excluded from many discounts:(

French Quarter is one of the smaller resorts, and is very popular. Generally, they don't have much trouble booking rooms there. If rooms are booked, no need for a discount.

So if POR usually fills up what do other family of fives do to get free dinning... Looks like I'll have to me very flexible or not get FD.

You could always stay at the cabins at fort wilderness. Other than that there are the villas or maybe AoA suites. Although I do not know if they will offer Free dining at AoA.

Looking at late October/early November and hoping for a RO discount! No matter how many times I go back over the RO vs free dining I just can't see the dining plan working for us. It might be (in theory) a bigger savings, but it just doesn't fit with the way we eat.

Fingers are crossed for free dining....I have two kids who are considered disney adults, and we all like the character meals. We hit up 1900 pf, chef Mickey, crystal palace, akershus....those alone help us tremendously on finances with free dining! If we aren't so lucky, we will just cut back on where we eat and focus on trying new counter service experiences lol

So, new discounts came out up until June recently. Here is to hoping that October sees even better discounts  (or maybe I win a free trip :tinker: ).

Going to Disney 10/25-10/31 and praying for free dining. Staying in a Riverside Royal Room. Getting very very excited. Do they send the pin number to your email that you have registered with My Disney Experience? And since I have my whole package already booked....can I add the discount to it after? So sorry if this is repetitive.

They sent the PIN I got last year to my email that I had registered. I did not have a trip booked at the time, so I can't say for sure, but everything I have read says that you can add the discount after. Which makes sense, because if you couldn't add it, you could always just make a new booking with the discount and cancel your current non-discounted one. I just saves a step if they let you apply it to your current booking.

Yes you can:thumbsup2

For those of you getting PINS who is the sender and what is the title of the message. I want to go back and search my email but with 1000s of saved emails it could take awhile! TIA!

If I remember, it was Disney Travel Company. It was just like any other Disney email, it just had a PIN inside. This was last May for me, so I don't have the specifics.

Has anyone gotten a PIN for this October yet? I wonder if there is a specific window of time that they will send them out in a batch, or if they just trickle out a few at a time.

last year the PINS for Fall FD started going out in waves beginning around May 9th. several e-mail and snail mail batchs went out into July. GP FD offer went live on 8/1/13.
