~*~*~The Oct 2014 waiting patiently (or not so) for a discount thread ~*~*~

Hey everyone! We're currently booked in September, but I want to switch us to the last week in October. (Mostly because of the cooler temps)

I'm hoping that Disney follow the past years and offers FREE DINING again for dates in October/November!

We are anxiously waiting for our oct trip. I am hoping for some kind of discount.

We're also looking at Oct 2014.

To confirm, if we were to book today through Disney...and then in say, in the summer they offer free dining for the dates we are there, can they apply the free dining option? Or do the discounts / specials only apply to new bookings? From what I see, they are only offerred 1-3 months out.

I am curious about this as well. So far I haven't booked anything.....

Our Disney TA and close friend said yes, if FD comes out later in the year we can change our ressie to get it. When we booked, she even had me give her my moderate resort choice so she can change us if it comes around!

I specifically asked a Disney TA about that because I made my reservation for my October trip on Christmas Day. His reply was that discounts can be applied after a reservation is made.. You must request it, they will not do it automatically (naturally.)

If your reservation isn't paid in full, it will be deducted from your final cost. If you are paid in full, they will refund you the difference.

Hi everyone! Today in the mail I got a flyer from Disney Destinations for October; Value Resorts $118 standard room 10/1-10/9, 10/13-10/31 Moderate 10/1-10/9, 10/13-10/31 Deluxe Resort standard rm for AKL or WL 10-1-10/9 and 10/13-10/18. Sadly we are going 10/18-10/26 and we're at the BWI. It has a 3 letter code on it. I'm hoping to see something open up for a discount at BWI, YC or BC for our week so I have my fingers crossed!

Offer is rack rate but at least they are sending cards out looking for interest.

Fingers crossed a discount comes out. Thinking about putting a $200 deposit on BLT from Oct. 1-8 2014. I'm nervous everything is going to get booked. I know for April there's the 30% off select deluxe hotels but a lot of them are already booked and I don't want that to happen in Oct. So the discount Disney usually offers around Oct. is usually free dinning? Does that mean you can upgrade to deluxe dinning for free? Thats a pretty sweet deal. Really hopping a discount comes out….I want to turn 30 at DISNEY!!! :):cool1: Once in a lifetime opportunity here!!! :thumbsup2

Free dining for Oct would be awesome. I'm not even sure that the dining package would be worth it for us, but I kind of like the idea of going to the restaurants and just ordering what we want (i.e. not having to think of the price when on vacation). So free dining would definitely be great bonus.

I received the same flyer last night! I was so excited to see it, but then I realized it was rack rates! (And a couple of my days weren't included! :confused3) Let's hope something wonderful comes along soon!

Joining!! My DH and I are planning a trip to WDW for Oct. during the F&W festival w/o the kiddos!! First trip alone in over 12 years. I want to go back WDW for Christmas 2015 and my DH said absolutely not until we do something together. I've always wanted to do F&W so I talked him into it!! I think he was willing to do anything just as long as it was the two of us!! Going over the kids' Fall break and a part of me feels bad leaving them behind. Staying at BC and trying to decide between CL or not and doing the DP or not. I would like to do some nice meals together rather than just eating around the world. Thoughts?

I was hoping to get one but not a peep. We signed up for a Disney Chase card hoping we'd get an offer. I guess that was a waste. LOL

I'm happy for the people who are getting them though. :-)

I am looking to go Oct. 4-12. This runs into Columbus day weekend. Should I change my plans to the week before or after. I am hoping to get a discount. I used to get a card in the mail all the time for discounts. I used it for a vacation in March 2013 and have not received another one since.

Hi magicalmoments4,

Because you're thinking of a club room at the Beach and just for the two of you, then have you noticed a thread on the Budget Boards regarding discounted Disney rooms on the UK-Expedia site, if not then it might be well worth checking out.

It's for room only reservations and here's a comparison between booking directly with US-Walt Disney and the British UK-Expedia web site.

7-nights checking in on Saturday 11th and departing on Saturday 18th October for 2-adults. (so over Columbus Day)

Disney's Beach Club Resort in a Standard View Room at Club Level.
WDW: $4,869.01 rack rate.
UK-Expedia: £1,449.35, approx $2,390.
Potentially saving over $2,400 on Disney's rack rate.

With the saving of $2,479 you could purchase two Premium Annual Pass for $1,552.78, leaving you $926 to spend on some very nice meals and also being flexible with how and where you spend it as you won't be tied to any dining plan credits.

Also, if you do buy the annual passes why not consider a Tables in Wonderland card at $125, that leaves you with $800 to spend on food and as the TIW card saves you 20% it could save you a few more dollars on this trip and maybe a little more next year.........

Therefore, for a similar cost through WDW for 7-nights at rack rate you can buy two premium annual passes, a Tables in Wonderland card, a club level room at the Beach through UK-Expedia and $800 towards your dining, well worth considering.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here's a few more resort options for anyone else looking for an October vacation, they're all over the same 7-nights from 8th October and prices also covers 2-children in the room.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Outer Lodge/Building in a Standard Room - Club Level.
WDW: $5,680
UK-Expedia: £1,938.86, approx $3,195
Potentially saving over $2,475 on rack rate.

Disney's Contemporary Resort. Tower - Magic Kingdom/Theme Park view.
WDW: $4,707.01
UK-Expedia: £1,609.65, approx $2,655
Potentially saving over $2,000 on rack rate.

Disney's Wilderness Lodge in a Standard Room - Club Level.
WDW: $4,295.25
UK-Expedia: £1,516.55, approx $2,500
Potentially saving over $1,700 on rack rate.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge in a Savannah View.
WDW: $3,763
UK-Expedia: £1,109.08, approx $1,830
Potentially saving over $1,900 on rack rate.

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. Pirate - Standard View.
WDW: $1,888
UK-Expedia: £609.56, approx $1,005
Potentially saving over $875 on rack rate.

Disney's All-Star Music Resort in a Preferred Room.
WDW: $980
UK-Expedia: £361.36, approx $596
Potentially saving over $375 on rack rate.

Not all rooms are discounted to the same level but you might find a reasonable room only price which could be tempting especially for those with an annual pass and/or Tables in Wonderland card.

And if you do find a tempting price then best to first check out the Budget Board and the posts by those who've already booked as it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I received that as well. I booked my vacation in October anyway with AAA. My travel agent is keeping her eyes open for the free dining. Luckily I am flexible with the dates. I am soooooooooooooo looking forward to going back. I am a bit upset that I will not be going back in March. :(

DH & I did this last October...our first trip ever alone since we had children and like you, we kept debating over whether to stay CL or not (we stayed at the BC as well). In the end, we decided not to do CL as we felt it just wouldn't be worth it bc we wanted to make 4 dinner ADR's for our 5 day stay. And after doing some math, we quickly decided against the DP on this trip as we knew we wold not be eating as the plan is designed plus we are AP holders and had the TIW card so that did end up saving us quite a bit in the end. Our trip ended up looking like this: Most days, we'd get something light for breakfast, we pretty much "winged" it for lunches, sometimes getting something light at the pool, sometimes on the Boardwalk but often we'd hit the kiosks at the festival. We always ended our day enjoying a nice sit-down dinner and I can't even begin to tell you what a nice, relaxing trip it turned out to be. Both DH & I couldn't believe we waited so long to go away alone (well, me really as he 's always been ready to go :)). And if you look at my tickers below, you'll see that we are doing it again this year and I can't wait! Good luck with figuring it all out and have a great trip :goodvibes
