the next Splash Mountain refurb?

Any ideas as to when Splash Mountain will get its next annual refurb? I know that January is the usual time for this, but of course, there's no official word yet.

We are tentatively looking at early February 2012 for our next trip. Last time, we were there during refurb for Splash, and we'd like to not repeat that again.

Any solid rumors out there?

You can pretty much be Splash will be closed some if not all of Jan/Feb each year. I think last year (2010) was longer than usual b/c they changed some stuff with the boats but even without major changes they dry the ride out and clean, paint, etc every year. They are usually done in late Jan or early Feb.

The dates should be out in mid/late summer. I know when we were there in Aug last year we already knew of the winter Splash closure dates.

I know how you feel, I hate having to wait and see all the refurbs pop up during my dates and have my hopes up to ride them, but it shouldn't be too much longer till you hear something. We happened to hit WDW during the TSM and IASW refurb last year, it was a bummer but an excuse for another trip for us.

it hasned been confirmed yet but the rumor floating around is that there will be no referb on splash in 2012 as there is going to be some extensive work done to btmrr

That would be interesting. I thought they did a Splash refurb every year due to the "water" part of the ride?

I'm sure that BTMRR needs a refurb... but yeah, I'm hoping again that I can dodge it. DS3 is a huge WDW nut and will be tall enough to ride some of the "big" rides this time. He's looking forward to SM and BTMRR.

Heh, tried to tell me yesterday that he's big enough for Dinosaur, that when little kids get bigger, they can ride dark, scary rides. I recall my oldest DS (now 13) being able to ride ToT multiple times when he was 5, but Dinsoaur traumatized him.

I don't think we'll be doing that one with the little fella.

we have only been lucky enough to hit splash 2 times in our january/febuary trips
i think both were superbowl weekend and one year it was a bit on the cold and rainy side so we didnt ride
dinsoaur on the other hand is one that i have done and dont care to do again
my ds 14 still fears tot
he is getting better didnt have a brakedown till after the ride this time

I recall reading that all the boats were being changed to include a lap bar, so people won't jump out of the boats when the ride is stopped. You figure that they would be replacing the boats during the refurb time, plus with all the new rides in Fantasyland in 2012, that they are hoping for a huge fall/Christmas season then, so the early part of 2012 is when they would refurb everything else.

I may also consider an April (after Easter) trip. For a ten night stay, we'd only be looking at $236 more.
