::The Newlyweds Return-A *Birthday* Celebration and *MNSSHP!* TR FINISHED! ::

I love the camp site all decked out for Halloween. I will definately have something for Christmas time but I don't know how much we'll be able to do because we're flying down, maybe some lights or something. I can't wait for my boys to see Disney being older because I think they will enjoy it more than they did the last time. Great update. Love those candle votices, I'm assuming you got those in Disney then. I want to get some NBC things for my mantle. Right now I just have some fake leaves and pumpkin gords, three of them, one for each child I have.

I didnt think about that...flying down it will be harder to decorate. Def. bring some lights, and maybe some small things. You will LOVE IT either way!

Yes I got the votives there! And I like your idea w/3 gourds, very cute!!

***Hope everyone is having a great weekend!! Its finally gotten cooler here and I LOVE it. I'm working on the next update right now, so look for it soon!!!***

Friday October 3 Part Two!

So when I left off we were heading out of Disney Hollywood Studios, to find out bus to our ADR for that night. Which was…

The Polynesian!! Which is, my FAVORITE resort. I think. Wilderness Lodge is actually my favorite I think, and not just because we spent our honeymoon there. I just think it’s beautiful, and so cozy, and just wonderful. And it’s a cheap deluxe, but to me its almost got all the perks of a monorail resort, w/out actually being on the monorail. You can ride a boat right to the Contemporary to get on the monorail, AND theres a boat to MK as well. I love it. Enough about that though…

I just LOVE the Poly. DH and I love all things tropical (we have a tiki themed guest bathroom BTW), so it is right up our alley. I don’t like how far some of the buildings are from the Ceremonial House, but that is the ONLY thing I can find wrong with it! One day, we will stay there (I stayed there a few years ago when my mom and I took my little cousins).

Anyway. We had an ADR that night for....

ohana.jpg

O’Hana!

Now, for those of you that read my honeymoon trip report…DH and I ate there on our last night at Disney. And were not fans. So you’re probably wondering why we were going back.

We decided to give them a second chance. Knowing how many people LOVE it, and how popular it is…we wrote our experience off, thinking it was either just a bad night, or maybe it was us. I think I’ve mentioned how I feel about the dining plan…and being that was our last night, I think we were just sick of all the food by then. So, not the best time to go there. So when my mom and I were planning this trip, she had mentioned wanting to go there bc she’s read about how much people love it too. And its just a cool place. So, we called and made the reservation. Hoping it would be better this time!

We went and checked in, it was CRAZY, all the people trying to get in. This is when I hope my family appreciates me for knowing how to be a crazy obsessive planner and MAKE an ADR! We checked in, and were given our beeper. We walked around upstairs, in the store and stuff. DH and I love good coffee, so we were talking about getting some at the little stand outside Kona to go after dinner. And I had read somewhere I thought, that you could buy the Kona coffee, and we looked in the stores and couldn’t find it. I meant to ask someone about it and forgot! So if anyone knows where it can be bought, please fill me in!

Anyway. We sat down and had to wait maybe 20 minutes or so. And I think we may have actually been about 30 minutes early for our ADR so it wasn’t a big deal. It was funny though…we were sitting next to this family (in the waiting area), and we watched the dad drink like FIVE Lapu Lapus I think (the ones in the pineapple).

Our buzzer finally went off and we were led to our table…BY THE WINDOW!!! I was SO excited. I asked for a window seat on our honeymoon and we got one, but I didn’t even ask this time! It was at a weird angle so we couldn’t see the castle, but oh well!! We could see down to the pool and stuff, SO pretty! Like I said…maybe for one of our anniversaries DH and I will stay there. I HAVE to.

Our waiter came over…couldn’t tell ya his name…but he saw my mom’s button and said something about her birthday (I had also noted it on all of our ADRS). Then the food started coming. First the salad. SO GOOD. I ate a lot of it, its my favorite. And then the wings, vegetables, noodles, and pot stickers. Or wontons. Whatever you want to call them. It was all SO good. I remember DH LOVED the potatoes they had last time, but this was all so good! Like I said, I LOVED the salad…I had like 2 big helpings of that alone! The wings were yum…I didn’t eat the noodles but everyone said they were good. And I had a bite of the wontons and they were good too!

(these are stolen food pics...so I apologize! I just wanted everyone to see the goodness!)

And last time, the meat to us just was kinda ick. Burnt tasting or something. But it was SO GOOD. I wasn’t crazy about the steak, mainly b/c it wasn’t done enough for me. I can’t take any blood at all, and I could see some. Gross. But the pork, turkey, and shrimp were awesome! Two thumbs up!!

CIMG2550.jpg

CIMG2541.jpg

The dipping sauces were SO GOOD too. I dont think we really even tried the in December, but dipping the meat in them was YUM!

Then the dessert. Now, I’ve been on a diet since May, and don’t eat dessert. But, I had already told everyone I was SO having some of this. Bread pudding w/bananas fosters sauce and ice cream. Wowwowow. I had a SMALL portion, but I enjoyed every bite of it!!! Its so good…going there is worth it just bc of the dessert!

ohanadessert.jpg

After we were pretty much finished our waiter brought this out for my mom..

WDWOctober2008079.jpg

WDWOctober2008080.jpg

Cupcake and icecream w/sprinkles!

Awww! We were excited. She took a bite of it but didn’t finish it, we were all so full!!

We walked around some downstairs before heading out. We talked about riding a boat to the MK and then boat to the campground, but it was kinda chilly so we decided to just monorail to the Contemporary and then ride the boat. My dad stopped in the little to go food place at the Contemporary and grabbed a coffee. When we walked out back, they were playing a movie on the big screen at the pool. I can’t remember what it was now…High School Musical maybe. I don’t remember.

Anyway…so we got on the boat, I got all sad bc we of course stopped by Wilderness Lodge first. Booo. And then back to the campground!! We walked from the boat back to our site. We loved doing that at night , seeing all the decorations!

When we walked up to the camper, there was surprise sitting outside the door! It was a balloon attached to a birthday card from the princesses!!!

WDWOctober2008051.jpg

WDWOctober2008081.jpg

I took this later, inside.

DH and I decided we needed to go swimming. We had been wanting to, and even though it was a little chilly, we wanted to anyway. We THOUGHT the pool would be heated. So we changed and hopped on our bikes and rode down there. There was no one else there, which was cool…the previous night there had been a few families w/a bunch of kids swimming. So we thought it was cool to have it all to ourselves. So we got in and realized it wasn’t heated. Not too bad though, after we got used to it. Some people walked through and just looked at us like we were nuts. Oh well. We only stayed for maybe 30 minutes and decided to go. NOT a fun ride back on the bicycles, in wet swimsuits w/the wind blowing. Brrrr!!!

We got back and my parents were wanting to go ride around some and look at Halloween lights on the campers, so we ran inside to change into dry clothes and then went with them. We were just amazed at some of the lights people had! We went through most of the loops around us, and then came back. We were pooped, and had a full day ahead of us, so we were quickly into pajamas and in our bed!!!

Next up- Epcot!!!!

Awwww what a sweet hubby you have! Ohhh and im kicking myself now for not picking up those votives last year. They are so cute!

Great update and how sweet for your mom to have that card waiting for her. Just love those Disney touches! I'm so glad you loved Ohana this time around. I can't wait to go back there. But it's more of a family/group place (hense the name ohana) so I don't think I'll be getting back there on any of my solo trips. looking forward to hearing about EPCOT!

Enjoyed the update. I love the Poly too and hope to stay there one day. We have not been to O'Hana's for dinner yet. The food looked good! We'll have to try it some day.

Thanks for sharing!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I totally agree!! I just love it!! I think I actually may enjoy the boats more then the monorail!

Glad you guys enjoyed Ohana's this time around. I have one question is it family style? I wonder if the kids would like it there. When we go they will be 10, 8 and 4. I guess I can check their menu out before I make a ressie, silly girl I am.

He is pretty sweet.

I was SO excited when I saw that card! I was hoping they'd do something, I made sure to tell the front desk when we got there! Yes, this is why we love Disney SO much.

O'Hana is great...next time you all have a big Dis meet you NEED to go there!

Thanks! The Poly is so beatufiul. Def. go try Ohana's one day! I'm so glad we gave it a second chance!

DH's favorite is the boats, but I'm a monorail girl! Not that I dont enjoy the busses, I'd rather be on a Disney bus that at work obviously, lol. But the other methods of transport at Disney are just so much more fun!

It is family style, they bring out big bowls and platters, and will bring as much as you want. Your kids would prob love it! I know alot of families go...they have alot of entertainment too...they do some hula dancing, singing, and coconut races I've heard about...but we've never seen it. Its a GREAT place for families and kids!! And I think the food is pretty good for most kids unless they're just SUPER picky! Def. check it out!

Saturday October 4, 2008

Saturday morning was about the same as Friday...I woke up SO EXCITED to be in Disney!

We had plans that day to go to Epcot, and I was so happy bc next to the Magic Kingdom it is my FAVORITE. I was also excited that the Food and Wine Festival was going on...we've never been and I really never thought I'd get a chance, since we don't typically visit this time of year! So I was interested in seeing what it would be like!

We all pretty much showered and got ready in a decent amount of time. We discussed riding the bus vs. riding the boat to the Contemporary and then the monorail, but we were all pretty excited to just GET there so we opted for the bus! We didn't have to wait a horribly long time for the bus at our stop, or the one up front. Soon enough, we were pulling into Epcot!!

We went through the gates, and discussed stopping at the Guest Services outside the gate for a few things. But we could see the line was insane, and knew there was another one so we went on in.

We HAD to go on Spaceship Earth first. One, bc its kind of tradition, and two, because only DH and I had been on the new version. And it wasn't even done when we did..we just happened to catch it open during our honeymoon one night while it was down, and there was alot that wasn't finished. So we were all excited to ride it!

At the beginning, when they take your picture we all made ridiculous faces. It was hilarious...but I didn't see them at the end when we left, so I have no pictures. boo :confused3

Some pics...

WDWOctober2008092.jpg

I just love her...

WDWOctober2008093.jpg

It was a fun ride as usual. I just love it. We did get stopped at the top for a few minutes, right after you start moving backwards. And it was LOUD, we must have been right next to the speaker or something, and they kept repeating the msg about staying seated and all. OMG I was about to go NUTS.

After we were done, Guest Relations was right across the way so we went over there.

So, before buying our 3 day tickets we had been talking, about ticket prices, and what would be our best bet. Because we already have a trip planned for next June. We are taking my two young cousins, they're about 9 and 13. They live in Mississippi, and had never been to Disney, and my mom and I took then in January about 3 years ago. They've been dying to go back, so we had already planned this trip. (Their parents could never afford to take them). Anyway...when we bought the tickets, we asked the price of both a 5 day pass (which we'd need in June), and an Annual Pass. We thought it might be worth it to get one, since we'd be back. Found out the price of the 3 day ticket, plus the 5 day, was only about $20 cheaper than an AP! We've had APs before and already know the discounts you get w/them. AND, DH and I are going back in December. We have 1 day left on our 10 day tickets we already had, plus another 1 day ticket apiece, from our package we got w/my Disney Visa. We were going to just use those for our anniversary trip then, but now obviously we won't need to! So, my cousins could use those 1 day tickets to save money there, since we wouldn't need them w/an AP! Still with me? lol.

SO. We had gone ahead and bought the 3 days the day before, and decided we would talk more about it and decide. And because we are some Disney loving folks we had decided to get them!
So we headed right on over to Guest Relations to convert our tickets! I was just so SO excited. I just love having it...living only 8 hrs away, we can go for quick weekends whenever we want! We've already planned a few more trips for next year...

Anyway. That took a little bit, we had to wait in a short line, and then transfer our tickets over and then they get all of our information. So we left there with bright shiny Annual Passes, and I was a happy girl! :cloud9:

Leaving there we walked through Innoventions, bc the boys thought there would be more fun interactive stuff to do. Well, there's really not. We looked around at a few things and were bored, so we headed out. My dad was wanting some free soda, so we headed over to Club Cool (we did some walking back and forth this day!). Of course I had to play dumb and just let them all try the Beverly, not warning them of the grossness. HILarious. My favorite is always the ginger ale.

(sorry I'm lacking on pictures here)

Then we went to Journey into Imagination. I just love it. Even though I loved the old version more. And this was the first time I've EVER waited in line at this ride. Not that it was a long line...but still. Every other time we've walked right on. I love it...everyone else not so much, lol.

After that we walked throught the labs...DH and I usually stop and do our photo in the little booths but they were all full and we didn't feel like waiting. We headed outside and towards Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and I decided I needed to use the restroom. DH went w/me, and the rest of the fam was just going to wait right there where you go in. So we ran over to the restrooms, and came back, and they were gone. Ok. We looked around the area, didn't see them, and looked back inside the building, and didn't see them. Well the show was just starting, and they were rushing people in, so we assumed they had just gone on in. We watched most of the preshow, and still couldn't see them inside there. Finally I just called my mom, and they were OUTSIDE. UGH. Somehow we just didn't see them. So we went out the exit, and then came back in. So we got to see that fabulous preshow, twice. yay. My mom waited outside (the show freaks her out). I love it, and DH gets a huge kick out of it. And this is mean...but I always laugh when you start seeing all the mommies taking out the small kids, usually right after the cat/lion part. I know that will prob be us one day. Hey, I'm a wuss too...I totally put my legs up in DH's lap when I know the mice are coming! The girl next to me this time did it too, I was cracking up.

OK so I really wanted to add more tonight but I really need to get to bed!! I will try and finish up some more tommorow night!!! Thanks for reading! Oh and I promise there will be more pictures in the next installment!

:cool1:   :cool1: How awesome to have APs. DH mentioned we should do an August trip and then a June trip the following summer and get APs... I would love it! It is a dream for me!'

EPCOT is a favorite of mine too!

I'm sooo jealous! One day I WILL be an AP holder!! Around the time I convince DH to get me a DVC membership :rolleyes1

Yes we are STOKED about the APs!!!

You should...your kids are at such a great age, having them now would be awesome!!!

APs are AWESOME!

I have the same hope, talking DH into DVC. The AP is one SMALL step that way I suppose...

Saturday October 4 Part Two

After leaving Imagination, we headed over to The Land.

The boys all wanted to ride Soarin'. My mom and I were both a little nervous...it sucks, I want to ride it REALLY bad, everyone talks about how awesome it is. But I get motion sick really easy and I'm a chicken. For example, on Ellen's Energy Ride, the big screen makes me dizzy when they go flying around and stuff, I have to close my eyes.

Anyway, they decided to go ahead and wait in line, and we'd hang out and wait. And then we'd all eat lunch. Big mistake. We ended up waiting at least an hour and a half or so. It took up SUCH a big chunk of our day, we really wasted a lot of time. They really loved it though. My mom and I just waited in the little waiting area where they come out of the ride, and talked. We got one of the booklets for the Food and Wine Festival and looked at some of that stuff. We just kept thinking it wouldn't be that much longer, and it just took forever. But they were excited about the ride...DH did say he wasn't sure I would like it. I really want to try it in December...but that's what I said last year about this trip and I still didn't do it. We'll see.

After the longest wait ever, we went over to Sunshine Seasons to get lunch. We actually had an ADR for Coral Reef that afternoon, but decided not to go. It wasn't for a few more hours anyway, and we knew by then we'd be back in World Showcase and didn't want to have to come all the way back. And we didn't want to take that long at a TS restaurant anyway. And I love Sunshine Seasons so all was good!

I had an Asian Chicken salad, from one of the little refrigerated sections. DH had a sandwich...I think it was the ham one....I dont remember. And a cookie. My parents both had the Cuban Veggie sandwich, and my brother had sushi and some kind of asian soup...Sweet and Sour maybe? It was all good. We ate and talked about what we wanted to do the rest of the day.

After lunch we went to the Seas. My brother hasn't been to Disney since they redid it all so it was all new to him. We went on the Nemo ride first. We didn't have to wait too long. I love it...

Then we walked around some. We saw dolphins...which was the first time I think I've ever seen them there! I was excited.

WDWOctober2008097.jpg

WDWOctober2008098.jpg

Then we went over to Turtle Talk, because its always been so funny and we thought my brother would get a kick out of it. I didn't think it was that great this time though...the jokes just weren't as funny or something? :confused3 I dunno.

pictures taken while we waited...

WDWOctober2008100.jpg

We left there and headed over to Ellen's Energy Ride. Its not the most exciting, but its kind of a tradition thing for us. And I just love Ellen...I watch her morning show whenever I'm home. So that was fun. Like I said though, during the part they're flying in the helicopter and stuff and taking all the sharp turns, I have to close my eyes. I'm a wimp.

After that we went over to Test Track. I forgot to mention it in the first half of the day somehow...but the boys actually did this before we went over to Journey into Imagination...pics...

WDWOctober2008088.jpg

this was from the first time they rode

WDWOctober2008101.jpg

WDWOctober2008102.jpg

They all loved it, and wanted to do it again. The wait was fairly long, so they decided to just go in the single rider line. My dad and brother ended up in the same car they said, but not next to each other. DH was in the next car. They were back out in about 15 minutes. My mom and I just sat outside and waited.

After that my dad decided to go back to the campground to let Jake (their dog) out and walk him. We had been gone and were planning on staying for Illuminations, so he needed out. He left, and said he'd call when he got back. So mom, brother, DH and I headed back towards World Showcase.

We started on the left, it's another tradition. I'm sure because it was Saturday night, it was PACKED that night for F&W. The first booth we can to we stopped, my mom wanted a treat...

WDWOctober2008103.jpg

fw08_37.jpg

it was the Dulce de Leche from Chile. I had a bite, it was pretty good.

We went on to Mexico, I LOVE this pavilion, so pretty...

WDWOctober2008104.jpg

we went on the boat ride, which brother had never been on.

WDWOctober2008105.jpg

WDWOctober2008106.jpg

It's kind of lame I guess...but oh well.

We walked around some, and then went on to Norway. Now, I was hoping that Norway wasn't down. The past 2 (and only 2) times DH has been to Disney it was down when we went by, so he'd never ridden it. So we waited in line for maybe 20 minutes. Very fun. We of course walked right through at the end, skipping the video...:rolleyes1

WDWOctober2008107.jpg

We walked through the rest of the countries fairly quickly, because it was getting later and we really wanted to see as much as we could. Plus, Starship was playing the Eat to the Beat concert that night, and my mom was really wanting to see some of it.

Anyway...we went on through China, Germany, and Italy. I did stop some and take pictures...

WDWOctober2008111.jpg

Oh and we did walk in the bakery in Germany and look at the goodies. But didnt get anything.

When we got to the American Adventure the concert was about to start. There was an empty bench in the back, so my mom and brother sat down to wait, and DH and I went to see what kinds of food looked interesting. DH LOVES funnel cake, and has kept talking about getting one for awhile and never has, so he stopped to get one. I went on to the F&W booth right past that ( I dont remember what it was....) and got a beef medallion thing w/cheese polenta, and a strawberry shortcake for my mom. We went back and sat down, and ate while we waited on the show.

When it started, everyone was going nuts. I didn't really know who they were, until they started singing and then I did recognize their songs. It was just entertaining watching all the people in the audience, mostly my parents' ages, who were going NUTS. Pretty fun. I only managed one picture...

WDWOctober2008112.jpg

We ended up sitting and watching the whole thing. After it was over, we went to Japan and walked through the big store, I love it. I spent lots of time as usual looking at all the Hello Kitty stuff. Sometime during that time my dad called my cell phone to say he was back, and where to find us. So we just kind of hung around there until he made it back.

He found us, and we decided to try to find a place for Illuminations, because it was only about 30 minutes left till the show. We walked over to Morrocco, to the wall right along the water. We had a pretty clear view there, and leaned up against the wall. I took some pics while we waited...

WDWOctober2008114.jpg

When I was younger, I really didn't love this show so much, but it was my mom's favorite so we always watched it. DH ended up loving it on our honeymoon, and it's his favorite, and its actually started growing more on me too.

Pretty pictures...

WDWOctober2008123.jpg

After it was over, I tried to talk my mom into waiting around like DH and I did on our honeymoon, and let the crowds rush out first, and slowly walk out. They didn't love that idea as much. We did wait for maybe 10 minutes, and then started to leave. It wasn't horrible, I just hate the masses of people rushing out. I get claustrophobic pretty easily and its just not fun. By the time we got to the front there were alot of people, so we decided to walk around in MouseGears for a little bit.

Bad idea. It was SUPER crowded in there. So we walked through pretty fast and then headed on out. It wasn't horribly crowded by then, walking to the bus. There was a pretty long line however. We didn't have to wait long for a bus, but we did have to stand. Which isn't a big deal, whatever.

Problem was, the bus was pretty full, we were standing at the front, and a group of about 6 DRUNK kids got on. Ok maybe not kids...but they were prob only about 21. And very drunk. And loud. I was at the front of my family, and DH was right behind me. The guys in the group kept bumping into me, and I just ignored it. There was a family w/two YOUNG litle girls sitting in the seats in front of me. And the whole group of drunks were cussing and just being really rude and disgusting. Discussing things they shouldnt have been on a bus full of families, at Disney. I just tried to ignore them and hoped the ride would go by fast.

Unfortunately, about halfway through the ride the guy standing right in front of me lost his DRUNK balance and fell into me. Hard. Of course DH saw it, and he is not typically a hot headed person but he is pretty protective. He PUSHED the guy off, and the guy bowed all up like he wanted to fight. DH just moved me around so I was between him and my dad so that he was behind the drunks. UG. I just don't understand people...

The first stop was at Wilderness Lodge. :guilty: When we started pulling in, my mom asked me if the counter service place there would still be open (it was prob about 10:30). I said it should be, and they were talking about how no one had really eaten dinner, and we didn't really have anything in the camper. So we decided to get off there and go eat at Roaring Forks. It was just so sad walking through the WL lobby...I know I'm probably melodramatic about it, but I just missed it so!

We walked down to Roaring Forks, and all just got cheeseburgers. I went outside and sat at a table while they were getting food, and just looked around, being all depressed b/c we weren't staying there. I was jealous of all the people swimming, and hanging out on their balconys. boo. I got over myself eventually though and the family arrived w/food. Maybe it was just bc we were hungry, but it was some GOOD food. Just cheeseburgers...but still. We showed everyone our balcony from our honeymoon, and just hung out and relaxed. Full and tired, we were ready for our camper and bed!

We walked down the boat dock to get on the boat to Ft. Wilderness. We didn't wait long, and I was about to fall asleep on the short ride over!

We walked back to the camper...I don't remember if we went to the showers or not that night...prob so though. We watched some of the news and weather before crashing into our bed, and ready for our last day at Disney, and MNSSHP!!!!

Great update!! Illuminations and WS sounds like fun. Stupid drunks, though. Can't wait to hear about your (sniff) last day at Disney. :sad1:

that's a bummer about your motion sickness. have you tried dramamine? you probably have, but i was just wondering. i got some last year when we went to epcot for the first time since i wanted to ride the orange side of mission space and wasn't sure how i'd handle it. i got the non-drowsy kind and it didn't make me groggy at all. and i didn't have a problem with mission space - but i don't get motion sickness that i know of. i just wanted to be safe and prevent getting sick on that ride if i could!

is starship the band that sang, "we built this city" in the '80's? i was born in '76 so i kinda remember, but i wasn't sure if that was them or not. if so, my little sister used to sing that song as a toddler and it was SO CUTE! pretty cool that you got to see them.

i can't believe that guy was seriously acting like he was gonna fight your DH. that's just hilarious - you're at WALT DISNEY WORLD.....FIGHTING!!!!! get a clue. or go have another beer so you'll pass out soon! i'm all for enjoying an adult beverage or two (or three ;) ) but i know my limits.

Great updates. Yay for the AP's!!!!! It's always a great feeling when you have an ap in your hand and know you could go to WDW anytime you want.

Sorry about the drunks on the bus. I just don't understand people :confused3

Boy do I feel old. I know Starship at least their newer stuff. I was born in 1970 but they had a hit when I was in highschool (the song Punkin mentioned). Grrrr on the drunks, my DH would have been mad too. I absolutely hate when people curse in front of my kids to no end. Of course I do say something sometimes but I don't know if I would say something to people who obviously had too much to drink, they tend to get worse. Anyway great update. I haven't seen Illuminations since 2000 because the last time we were the kids were too tired by the time it came and my oldest son who was 5 at the time was afraid of fireworks, I know not a good thing being in Disney. Anyway next year will be great for all of the kids.

Oh and I don't know if you remembered but I told you we were staying at FW campgrounds next year, I just booked my site yesterday :cool1: .
