The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I received an email from Target.com. They are having a stockup baby sale buy 3 select items and save 10% 4 or more items 15%. Plus if you are a AAA member you can save another 10% by going to aaa.com\target. It didn't seem like a bad deal. Plus free shipping over $50.00.

What are thoughts on a double stroller??

I probably need one, don't I?

I don't use Lucas' stroller very often, though. On trips shopping in Columbus, or at the mall (though they have doubles they lend you for free)...

The only thing I can think is if I go to the park, but honestly.. I'm not going to go to the park by myself so I'm thinking I could probably get away with an umbrella stroller and we could each push one. Unless I got with my friend that is pregnant now. Ugh.

So. Double stroller? lol

Oh my! I would cry if there was no naptime here. Somedays their naps happen at the same time or within 30 minutes of each other. But if we are out during the day they are opposite. My 27m old will sleep from 2ish until 430 so it gives me time to make dinner and get things ready for the rest of the night.

Our LO was up last night from 2-330 coughing and spitting up everywhere. He finally settled back down for DH and slept until 830. I've already done 2 loads of wash from being soaked. Hopefully my jeans will be dry before the next round.

Same here. The babies HAVE to nap at the same time. If one wakes up, I run in and wake the other. If I didnt get nap time.. I would go crazy. I use it for nap time too!:lmao: My four year old looks forward to nap time as much as I do.. Its the only time I let her watch cartoons. :rotfl2:

I hope your LO feels better soon!

Its a necessity for me.. But I am out with my kids by myself all the time. I use it everywhere.. Dr. appointments, any time I am alone with them. I cant carry them both. They are too heavy, and they dont walk yet.

Oh.. I dont take it into the grocery store, because they have carts with two seats.. I can put the babies in the seats, and Mikalah in the front truck buggy thingy. A happy meal for her, and it is a quiet shopping trip for me!

Even with that DH and I had a long talk about maybe not having another baby or at least waiting to try until next year. We both agreed that right now, we can't imagine having another. I'm pretty positive our attitudes will change in the upcoming months, but it was really nice that we are in total agreement.

Up until Alexander was 1 I didn't even think I wanted more kids. Immediately after he was born, I was DONE. It wasn't until he was 18 months old that I considered it and we started casually trying. Now they are going to be just shy of 3 years apart and I think it's perfect for me. I am very short tempered and I could not imagine having a infant during the last few months of Alex's terrible 2's!!

Can I join you guys??? :-) I'll have a new little one, hopefully in under 2 months!

Patsy - I don't know about a double stroller either. I rarely use Alex's stroller at all. I think I am going to get a Baby Jogger City Mini in the Spring once it's warmer so that I can fo for walks with them and then have it to use at WDW in December 2010. I think in the summer I will use it ... just for walking the neighborhood, outdoor malls or down visiting my parents on the Cape. Hopefully Alex will be more open to a double sitting next to his brother than he is with his regular one!!

Hi everyone! I guess it's time to move over to this thread since our newest addition arrived on Saturday. Of course as soon as I got on here she has started fussing for her next meal so I'll have to introduce myself later, but figured I'd come on and say hi quickly.

Patsy - I didn't get a double stroller until my kids were 4yo and 22 months, and that was only because I was taking them to WDW with a group of friends (from the old New Mom thread actually) and my husband wasn't going. I knew that I would hear complaints from my daughter about walking all the time (plus it was June so really hot!) and my son was still napping everyday so he'd need a place to sleep. Other than WDW, I rarely use it. My husband will, but pushing that thing is over 100lbs total (and we have a fairly light one, the Maclaren Twin Triumph, like 17lbs) with both kids in it and stuff in the basket or hanging on the back or whatever. Just way too heavy and annoying for me to bother with. If I am anywhere with my husband we just use 2 umbrella strollers and it's typically much easier.

Of course, my kids were a little further apart than yours will be, so that might make a difference, as my friend whose kids are 17 months apart used hers all the time from the 2nd one's birth just cause her son was simply too little to walk alongside her. I will probably end up using ours a little more now, even though Henry is nearly 3.5yo, cause he often still naps so I'll need a stroller if he is, which means either carrying this one in a sling, or using the double. Today will be the first test of that as my oldest has ballet and my son usually falls asleep on the way there every week.

Okay, really gotta go now as I need to get her fed before my son is back from school.

Double stroller? Necessity. We used the heck out of ours when the first 2 were little. It must have been because of the age difference, because we hardly ever used it when Luca came. A little in the beginning, but now just 2 umbrella strollers.

Since DS#1 and #2 were only 15 months apart, I needed a double if I wanted to go anywhere (shopping, park, etc) by myself since DS#1 wasn't anywhere ready to walk on his own without it being more trouble for me. :thumbsup2

Lucas and this one will be about 14.5 months apart, depending on if I go to 40 weeks or not.

She said I can wait out to 40wks if I want to schedule the c-section and I realized yseterday that since Wednesdays are her "procedure days" it would probably be 9/1 to have the c-section if we waited til 40wks. So it'd be 9/1/10.... 9+1=10!
Lucas was born on 6/3/09.... 6+3=9
I'm such a freak but this is where my mind goes when I can't sleep! :rotfl:

I'm thinking I might be okay without a double. The only place we've used our stroller this winter is Disney (we won't be going back for awhile), dr. appointments and the mall. The mall has free double rentals and the only other place I go by myself is the grocery store.. which I've already told Tom I will now do when he gets home just to save my sanity. Unless a friend can go with me. I have one friend that loves to just get out and about and do anything so I could go with her.

So that would mean I'd really only need it for the doctor. But they've got free valet parking... and it's a short walk to his office once inside the hospital, so Lucas could probably walk it easily.

I might want one to go to the park but this baby will be born towards the end of the summer and so I wouldn't really need the double until the next summer... and Lucas would be 2 and I'm thinking able to walk around fairly easily.

The idea of all that weight bugs me, too! That is insane.. especially if you add the car seat. Lucas will probably stay a big boy and I can't imagine pushing around 100lbs of weight! ugh!!!

...excuse my rambling please... thinking as I type ;)

Time is flying by too fast! Katie has decided she is too old for naps. She has taken one 15 min nap a day the last 2 days at daycare!:scared1:

I realized today that Shelby will be 1 in 74 days. Who said that could happen?:confused3

Thank god for nap time! Shelby normally takes 2 naps a day for about 2 hours. And now with my broken toe, I'm counting down until it's nap time so I can prop my foot up!

I cant believe the twins are almost one. SERIOUSLY?? How did that happen? Our last first birthday party. :sad1: Did I tell you guys that Jasmine has been standing up on her own? OMG. The first time she did it I about knocked her down. NO WALKING TWINS in my house. I was excited about them crawling. Well.. I learned my lesson on that one, didnt I??:lmao: I dont want them to walk. SURE it would be easier.. They are heavy little farts. But they are fast. and it is true.. they go in opposite directions! :lmao:

:cheer2:Welcome DMickey28:cheer2:
:cheer2:Welcome justhat:cheer2:

As far as naps go, we take 2 a day. Her morning nap is usually only 40-45 minutes long. Just perfect to get me dressed and cleaned up. Her afternoon nap is 2-3 hours:banana:.

Natalie loves her stroller. I take her for walks everyday- weather permitting. Since we live in Texas, that means most days we are outside:thumbsup2

We leave for Vegas Friday and come back on Sunday. I can't wait to sleep in on Saturday, order an in room movie and room service. Ahh..... My MIL is soooo excited to keep the baby. She hasn't had her overnight yet.

Welcome new mommies! :cool1:

Piecey,

I can't live without our double! We have a Peg Perego Aria Twin (50/50) and I adore it. It folds down so small and only weighs 14 pounds. It fits perfectly in the back of our minivan standing up inbetween the gate and rear seat. It's no wider than the seat once folded. And I have the whole other side to load up with groceries since we took the seat out. It just stays in the van since it doesn't take up any room I can use.

I upgraded after dragging around a Graco duo-glider for the first few months. Man that thing was heavy. But it was way easier than making DS walk while dragging along a carseat. He is capable, but not always willing. And once you add a diaper bag for 2, and bag for me? Game over. I got it at a consignment sale for $40.

We use it for the mall, parks, or anywhere 2 "babies" can't fit in a cart. That is the biggest pain! :headache: I can't go to Marshalls, TJMaxx, Joanne's, Hobby Lobby, Kohls, Dollar Tree, or any other store that has those tiny carts. The carseat won't fit in the basket so the stroller is the only way. DS is too fast to let him ride in the bottom. I'll have a cart full of fun things before I know it. It worked really well for us in December at Disney. Super easy to push and since the seats reclined, our LO could nap laying flat. Something to at least think about. You won't need it for a while still. :goodvibes

I hope your LO feels better soon!

Thanks. I think tomorrow will be better. They both have yucky noses and a little cough. I'm sure you know how quickly illness spreads between LOs. They are both sleeping right now, actually! I might get to watch Inside Edition and Jeopardy if I get lucky. I can fold clothes, gossip, and get random knowledge all at once.

Have fun on your trip, Amandalisa! :cheer2: Hope your family feels better soon.

Where the heck are these consignment sales? How do I find one?

I might have to watch for one and make a day trip with my friend.

*Eta*

Google is my friend.

I found one in Columbus in March. I messaged my pregnant friend to see if she'd want to go (she's an RN and has to request time off ASAP) sooo it could be fun.

Laura, if I remember right you're from that area, right? Ever heard of this thing? http://www.shoppolkadottots.com/

Oooooh!! Have fun! Im sorry you guys are all sick. Thats no fun.

Thank you!!! Hopefully we will all feel better by the time we get there!:thumbsup2

Ok, never thought of it that way....now I'm sad too!:guilty:

Justthat.....welcome:goodvibes and congratulations!!! I thought I quoted you, but it never made it.

That should be fun. Just remember to bring a laundry basket to carry around your items. Or at least one of those big reusable shopping bags.

We have an awesome one coming up in March too. You can check your local fairground for any kids sales. Our county hosts 3-4 twins and more groups with 1000s of items at each group sale. Some of our local churches also do sales. I got both kids their clothes for the winter at those and can't wait to get their summer clothes. But I promised myself, NO MORE TOYS!

Well I just spent a whole lot of money I didn't need to spend.:headache: Dd10 has been begging to be in a pageant, and I've been putting her off. They got forms this week for the Beauty and Beau pageant at school. She begged and I caved. I paid the $20 entry fee, and called a distant cousin that has a dress rental business. We went at 5:30, and dd10 tried on a ton of gorgeous dresses, and picked one that we both really liked. So I ask how much, thinking $50 would be alot to rent a dress. $160!!!!! For one night!!!! And we still have to get shoes, I made an appt for her hair and makeup, and we'll *have* to buy a picture package! So I'm looking at spending $300 for this one night!:scared1:

Is it bad that I hope she hates it and never asks to do this again........:rolleyes1
