The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Don't feel bad. If I couldn't see the teeth I wouldn't have known it was teething. lol.

But one is all the way through and the one next to it is begining it's approach...

I wish I was one of those people that can read the baby's signs like nobodies business. I guess a lot of the time I can. And I do find sometimes I have a weird six sense of figuring out exactly what is wrong with seemingly no cues. But actually reading cues? Not very good at it. :rotfl::confused3
Tell me about it. I am horrible at picking up on things. I basically have to just run doiwn the list every time:

Time to eat? Nope
Dirty diaper? Nope
Just want to be held? Nope
Gassy? Nope (and now I'm deaf)

The other day, the baby made a noise that I interpreted as "I'm about to go ballistic". Cathy saw me tense up and told me that that was a laugh. A laugh???

Thanks I needed that! Lily has finally started laughing like a human and not a baby. lol Like there's a difference! In the beginning it's more of a witch's cackle. The other day she chuckled and I whipped my head around and she laughed some more.

After many months of talking about it... we are finally going tomorrow to open the college savings account for Lucas.

We've opted for $50/m so that we can afford to do the same for the next kiddo, too.. but it just doesn't seem like enough! Gr.

I probably feel that way because I just paid the bill for our textbooks and tuition for next semester. Ouch.

Thanks! I attirubte my extra fatigue today to DH's snoring last night. :)

I cannot imagine going for my masters! That is awesome, way to go!
How old is Lydia now? I can't remember when she was born, just know she is older than Lucas. :)

..also, question. I can give Tylenol for teething, right? Not a biggie?
I've only given him one dose a day so far... but this tooth is driving him nuts. I went to get him out of his crib this morning and he (of course) had a finger in his mouth. When I touched him he JUMPED and started screaming immediately. It freaked me out! The only thing I can figure out is that maybe I scared him and he jabbed his finger into his gums and it really hurt. As soon as I picked him he stopped crying and coo'ed at me so that was a relief. Or really good crocodile tears.
Anyway, the Tylenol... he calms down and takes a nap after I give it to him. Which he doesn't usually do- he only ever takes 1 nap a day in his crib about 3:30-4pm these days but if i give him the Tylenol he catnaps downstairs with me. Right now he's passed out in his swing.

I just don't know what else to do for him. He has started taking a binky. He puts it in his mouth then he chomps down and pulls it out. It makes a bizarre popping sound. Anyone elses LO do that?? I guess it must feel good.
He won't take his teething rings or frozen washclothes. Just binkys, fingers, and lots of cuddles.

DD's going to be 1 year old next month. :scared1: Gotta plan her party! And yeah--I should have gone back to school YEARS ago. :headache: It will be worth it in the end. It's never a waste of time to go to school. I wish I could do it full-time instead of work full-time, that way I would get to be with DD more. And DH too! :lovestruc

We give DD Tylenol or Motrin when she cries and we don't think it's hungry/tired/bored. It's not often. Sometimes when she has a head cold and seems to feel poorly we give it to her then too. Seems to help her sinus pain. We've only given it to her a couple of times when we thought she might be teething. She has 3 teeth now. The two lower front ones and one upper front one just poked through on Sunday. Our only real clues that she's teething are that she drools a LOT and doesn't seem to want to eat off a spoon.

Morning everyone!

My drama for the day...my library system has a branch with 3 fulltime vacancies, so they are sending people from the other branches to fill in. No big deal right? The branch is actually closer to my house than the one I work at. The only issue is me pumping. It totally sucks. i have no idea where they can stick me. My set up at my building is great, but who knows what I'll deal with there. So i get to cart the stupid thing around and pump in a foreign environment. Blah! Hopefully at least one of the positions will fill quickly, so I might not have to worry about it next month.

The set up there might be even better than the one you currently enjoy. Keep your fingers crossed.

I can always count on you to put things in perspective. :thumbsup2

After I posted that I realized I was totally overreacting. :snooty: It's really no big deal. I'm lucky my workplace is as good for me as it is. :thumbsup2

Then again, it could suck.

sbell :rotfl:

I don't miss pumping. What a PITA it was for me. I didn't make much milk that way. :headache: I'm sure you'll find a nice spot, harleyquinn.

Well no matter how nice it is there will be sucking involved. HA! I know how you love TMI! :goodvibes

I'll be fine...probably in the storytime room. Luckily storytime doesn't start until February, but they better fill positions quickly!

Where is everyone today...and by everyone, I mean Patsy. ;)

Hey! I realize I'm an internet addict but geesh... calling me out like that!

Truthfully, Lucas is happiest on my lap and I watch TV on here so we end up here a lot through the day!

But!!! One of my friends came over today to motivate me to clean and organize and just to spend some time together. We've gone through about 5 boxes and she brought me McDonalds so I'm a happy girl! :rotfl:

We had our 6 month appt today. Dylan is 17 lbs 6 oz & 25 1/4" tall. Katie is 13 lbs 5 oz & is 25 1/2 " tall. They are thriving. :) We skipped shots today (except for Synagis) because Dylan is sick, mucousy & coughing. I'll need to bring them back for shots. :(

Dylan has taken to nursing in the last 2 months so, we are nursing & feeding pumped milk as well as supplementing w/ Similac Sensitive. He is my momma's boy. :) Katie won't nurse, so its all bottles for her. But Katie is my little developmental rock star, she looks like she'll be crawling really soon.

The ped said to go ahead & start solids, which I was planning on doing anyway. I would have started over one of the holiday weekends, but we've all been taking turns being sick. I didn't really feel like I needed his "permission."

In other news we did get Dylan a DOC band to try to correct his wonky head shape. But....... he will not rest in it, so I haven't been able to get him to wearing it 23 hours/day. The best we've managed is 12-14 hours/day. I go back tomorrow for his 2nd weekly appt for the DOC band.

Hi,

I've been out of the loop for a while, but I wanted to stop in and say hi. I hope I can find more time to chat with you all again, if there's still room! I know it was a close bunch.

Our LO is doing great. He's 20 pounds and has 3 teeth. He started scooting around and is rolling everywhere. We just got back from a vacation to the World and a 4 day cruise and he did awesome. DS is 26m now and loves being a big brother still.

Patsy, congrats! I was so surprised when I saw your picture. I saw the caption and thought maybe Lucas did something funny and then it loaded completely! I think the hardest part with 2 was in the beginning few months but now it's a lot easier. They are playing together on the floor and making each other laugh. Some times so hard that they both fall over. ;)

Sarah, I hope your transition goes well. I know what you mean about the baby's laugh changing. Our LO is into the full belly laughs now and it cracks us up. He's started mumbling ma ma ma in the morning and something that sounds like "whatcha whatcha whatcha". DS loves to mimic him and get him going at dinner time.

Sbell, very cute pictures of your LO. How are you settling into fatherhood?

Hi to everyone. Hope the day is going well. :goodvibes

Didn't mean to call you out Patsy! Between you and me, we keep this sucker on the first page! lol Sounds like you're having a nice day!

Valerie--They are so big! Yay for the nursing and yay for the almost crawler! :teeth:

Hi SSM2! Nice to hear from you. You know no matter if you're here all the time or once in a while, we always want to hear from you! So far my transition is going very well. I already feel more connected when I'm at home with her and I'm enjoying being back at work more. When I was part time it was weird, but I never totally got back into the swing of things...I'm starting to feel better with that.

Crap gotta pump...brb...lol

OMG its snowing here like crazy!!

And I was supposed to have a playdate with my BFF. (DH set it up for me ) Wah! We were going to go out to dinner and see The Princess and the Frog. I don't think I want to brave this though...maybe we can go on Sunday...

It's been snowing here all day, too, but I doubt we got as much as you Sarah.

I think we're supposed to cap out tomorrow sometime at 8"...
If I could find my camera I'd take pictures and send to Australia. Claire (bro's gf) has never seen snow.

Sorry you are missing the date with your friend. Let me know how the movie is! I'd like to see it sometime. :)

SSM2, you are always welcome and there is always room!

Popping back out to make dinner... deep-fried goodness! DH went to the store for the requiste eggs/milk/bread... I added in onion rings, carrots and Sunkist soda. ehehe.

It does suck! I don't have a great place to pump at work-the women's bathroom. But it has become a routine. And pretty much everyone knows why I am in there so long, so it isn't like I get dirty looks anymore! Every day at 9am and 12pm, I'm heading down the hall with my black bag. You can tell the kids want to ask so bad what I do everyday, but they are scared to!:rotfl:My boss is so crazy, and not very politically correct, and always has a comment. One day he asked me if I had them even!:scared1: I told dh I wish I had the guts to turn around and ask him what he thought.;)

I hate when I have to go to other schools for teacher workdays. Last fall, I had to go to the oldest school in the county, out in the middle of nowhere, and couldn't find anywhere to pump! The bathrooms didn't have plug ins-none of them! Finally, they put me in a supply closet behind the principal's office, and I put something in front of the window. And they acted like I was being a PIA to ask for help finding someplace private. I was supposed to go back there for our last 2 workdays, but my boss (see above-I really do love working for him) let me stay at our school and work in my room instead. He is retiring this year, and we are so going to miss him.

The Princess and the Frog is wonderful!

We were expecting to get the day out of school today due to weather, but it stayed at around 33 all day, so the rain stayed liquid. The schools to the east, south, and north of us have already canceled for tomorrow. The roads are mostly rural, and with a low of 16 there will be ice! We aren't equipped to deal with it here. We are supposed to have temps below freezing from now until Sunday afternoon, which is unreal for us!

It has kind of worked in my favor. I was supposed to take the Praxis in counseling and library media Sat. morning, but I just got an email that they are postponed until next Sat. I really needed a little more time to study, so I am relieved!

How are you feeling Patsy?

Ohh. Extra time to study. Awesome!

Decent. Still exhausted, but I think that is pretty normal. ;)
Definitely more nauseous than I EVER was with Lucas, but thankful I haven't actually gotten sick.

So, Luca is walking all around the house now and is in the process of weaning himself even though I hadn't planned on stopping yet. I'm feeling sad....he's our last baby and he's leaving that stage. :guilty:

DH and I started TTC on our wedding night. After 10 1/2 months, we finally did only to lose that one on the day before our 1st anniversary. I had to have surgery 4 months later and after I recovered, I got pregnant with DS#1.

I nursed him until he was about 6 1/2 months pregnant as we knew we wanted to start trying again. Literally got pg with DS#2 that week. I ended up weaning him at 6 1/2 months also because I hadn't had a break in so long.

Obviously we didn't wait too long for Luca either.:rotfl:

So, I've been pregnant and nursing for most of the last 5 1/2 years. :scared1: I guess I don't know how to be any other way and this is where I'm having trouble. I feel like I'm losing my identity.:rotfl:

Sorry for the rambling...just needed to get that out. I have to get past this, or DH is going to get really mad when I ask him to reverse his surgery.:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:
I feel you. SO much. I have been pretty much in baby mode for 7 years. I had about a year in between Kaylee and the twins with no diapers... But other then that, I have had a little one is diapers. It is killing me that these will be our last. I dont know what I will do with myself when these babies grow up. :guilty:

We had a good scare over Christmas.. My husband was home for the whole week of Thanksgiving, and we were not being careful at all. But I had just gotten off my period, so i thought we were good. But my cycle has been CRAZY lately. It hit Christmas, and nothing had visited yet. We were freaking out! I finally got it, really late. My husband was SO happy. So was I, I know this isnt the right time, but I was still just a little sad.. I would love to have a new baby.. or two.. or even three!
