The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

staley, any news on your friends' triplets? Just wondering and thinking about them a lot. You can PM me if you want.

Hey, I just noticed in the KMart ad that Playskool is B2G1 free.

There are still Playskool coupons on www.coupons.com and you can use a coupon on the item you get free from KMart, too.
I'm headed out right now and sorta in a hurry (hoping to meet DH for lunch!) but I'll report back and catch up when I get home.

Alright, I'm a little peeved. I really want to join the Y, but I just did the math and it would cost us $888 a year! Plus they have small fees for most of the classes. That's insane to me! I could go to Disney for that much!
I just checked our local Y's rates and found that our little family of three could join for $100 joining fee and $94 dollars per month for a first-year cost of $1228. For just my wife and I, it would cost a mere $1132. Classes are extra.

It surprised me that it was that high. It also surprised me that they have TEN membership categories. What happened to single, couple, and family?

I can see them, too.

So far, this has been the week from :scared1:...

Patsy, my classes are online. To take a test, I have to use a remote proctor. It is this little machine that sits next to my computer and takes my fingerprint and picture, then generates a password to the test. This system started first of this year. If they had started it last year, I may not have made it this far. It is nothing but a headache, and never works right. I never could install it on my desktop, so I had to install it on dd10's laptop.

My final was made available last week, and it had a 3hr time limit from the time it is opened. So Fri night, I got dd10's laptop and set it up on my desk, and set an alarm for 5 so I could try to get some work done before Katie was up and ready to play. The 1st 20 were mult choice, and no problem. I took a break in the middle to feed her and got her back to sleep, so it took about an hour. Everything was fine, until #21 pops up. It is open ended, but no text box came up to type the answer. The computer locked up completely. I spent the next 2 hours rebooting and trying to get back into the test to finish the last 14 questions (34 total). I finally emailed the professor, hysterical, and asked if I could please have a chance to finish the test. I was so frustrated that I broke down and ordered a new laptop Sat. afternoon. My thought was that a newer computer would work better with the software from the school.

I didn't hear anything all weekend, but I wasn't surprised (I don't like working on the wkends either). I had my final paper due Sun night. I ended up getting no help, and typed half of it with Katie in my lap. I submitted it right before the deadline at midnight Sun night, got in the bed around 12:30, and got back up at 5.

Mon afternoon I still hadn't heard from my professor, and I was freaking out because grades have to be on tomorrow (Thursday). I emailed again, and Tue morning finally got a response. She reset the test and disabled the timer and told me to finish. I emailed back that I would as soon as I got home. I got home right as the tornado warnings started up, and the dsl kept going out. So I finally got to start the test at 9pm. At 1am this morning, I had answered 7 questions! After every question, the computer locked up, and I had to shutdown, reboot, log in to the school site, log into the remote proctor (which usually requires about 12 tries to read your fingerprint right), answer the next qeustion, and then do it all over again! I had a major meltdown, and gave up when Katie woke up at 1. Then I realized that I had not made out my tests that I needed to run off today, so I stayed up another half hour and got them ready to print.

My professor was very nice and told me to try again today. I got home, and my new laptop was here, earlier than promised. So I get it out and get everything ready, try to connect the remote proctor, and get a message that it only works on 32 bit systems! Are you freaking kidding me! So I had to get dd10's laptop back out, and do the same steps for every question again-rebooting after all 7!!!!!

But I'm finished, and I don't have another class until Jan. And only 2 more to go, and I have my masters! I'm too old for all of this!!!!!

***On a brighter note, I'm in love with my new laptop. I'm laying in bed with Katie nursing and actually getting to use 2 hands to type for a change:)

:scared1:

I'm getting a master's degree, too, but all my tests have been pencil and paper. Whew! I'd have been beating that laptop against the wall, had I been you.

Thanks girls for thinking of me with the RTF sale. We REALLY appreciate it!

Jake has been having some issues using the bathroom. Its been since he was born and was put on formula (about 2wks of age) but its gotten it's worst with AR (even worse than when we was on lipil and i was adding rice myself). I was doing 2 karo syrup bottles a day and then doing 1 juice bottle but it was giving him NO relief. He is now on Kristalose and doing better. I have switched from RTF to powder because of the extra water (even though his reflux may suffer-- thats better then dealing with this problem). Weve had to do an enema and a suppository already- poor little guy is just 3mos.

Thanks everyone for thinking of me. And i appreciate everyones enfamil checks that they are sending! You have no idea :)

So you are doing powder now??

I still have that KMart thing around here somewhere. I'm positive it's on the floor in the living room... somewhere.
Let me know!
I'm not sure I saved your address when I cleaned out my PM box, either...

Oh next time I get checks I'll post here to see if anyone wants them. I just take them up to Target and lay them next to the containers of formula for anyone to use. I swear I get more since I picked "exclusively nursing" LOL...they send me LOTS of coupons still!! I did just move, maybe I need to sign up online again.

I'm sorry to hear that. Keeping a good thought for them all.

We have another pregnant friend! She tried for several years to get pregnant with her little girl, and now 2 yrs later she is pregnant again! Our other friends, who tried for 8 or 9 years, are about 10 wks along now, and all seems to be going well!:goodvibes

dd10 and I got swine flu shots today. They are giving them for free at the school. Ds12 will get his tomorrow at the middle school. I said I wouldn't get them when they first came out, but with all the deaths in children, I was scared not to. And I couldn't make them get them and not get one myself!

My professor sent me an email 1st thing this morning. She must have graded my test before her classes! She wanted me to know that I made an 88 even with all the trouble on the test, and I have an A in the class.:cool1: I'm just glad it is over!!!!!!

Just wanted to post a few quick pictures of Lucas @ my dad's company Christmas party tonight...

Oh man.. I just got off the phone with our friend.. It looks like they are going to lose one of the babies. The little girl.. She was the biggest one at birth. She has two brain bleeds, and now they have the respirator maxed out and one of her lungs isnt working. They said that if she doesnt improve in the next twelve hours... There is nothing they can do. She will die.

I dont know what to say. Its so hard to hear a grown man cry on the phone. and now the littlest one has a brain bleed. She is afraid they are going to lose all three.

Now that I have a few minutes to myself...

I can see them, too.

Oh, wow! I would have caused severe harm to someone if I'd had a day like that. That remote proctor thing sounds like a PITA!
I go to an extension campus of West Virginia University... 2 of my classes are online, 4 I actually attend (2 are a lecture/lab setup, though) but we have NOTHING like that! Of my 3 online classes, all the content is completely online on a system that I just click "Take Exam"... I seriously think I would have had a meltdown waaay before you if I'd had to deal with that thing!! Kudos to you for making it through!!

Does your new laptop have Vista or 7 on it? DH ordered a new desktop shortly after Lucas was born (which is what I am using right now, it's our computer with Office on it) and it had Vista. An IT from his work came to install the firewall stuff on it and there were major issues because it has 32 or 64 bit or whatever. I'd never even HEARD of the difference before?!? I can't remember which one it had but the software was totally incompatible.
We took the free upgrade from Dell to get 7 and haven't had anymore issues... knock on wood!
My laptop still runs on XP. Which I love. :lovestruc

Way to go on the class, too! That is awesome! It's so nice to know the effort worked out well for you in the end!

Do we get to see pictures of Sarah sometime? :goodvibes

Congratulations for your friend!!!! I love hearing stories like that. :)

Our college had a clinic for students only on Wednesday night... so I drove out to get one and thought it'd be the smallest line since it was restricted to students... sure was. Walked in and I was the ONLY one there. There are clinics almost daily here. Crazy, since there are threads all over the CB about people who can't find the vaccination.
I decided to get it because I'm out at the college and in the local elementary schools, too... and I didn't want to get it for Lucas.
If I weren't going to be bouncing between elementary classrooms I might not have bothered.. but I'd never be able to forgive myself if I didn't do as much as I could to keep Lucas from catching it.

My professor is letting me makeup the written lab final I missed Tuesday after the lecture final next Thursday. I offered my Dr.'s note and he just glanced and said it wasn't necessary... so he wasn't as cranky as I expected.
I also turned in my final for Educational Technology last night. She must have graded it while I was at the party because I got 110%.. it was to make a PowerPoint presentation on something you enjoy/like. I did it on DCL and got 10% extra credit because I added a wav file of the horn. :rotfl: It was probably the must fun assignment I've had all year.

...and Staley I can finally see the pictures! I don't know what was up the other night! :confused3
They are getting so big!! :lovestruc (I'm in a smiley kind of mood. ;))
I love the one of Jasmine in the little stroller.. she looks like she is stuck! :rotfl:
