The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

That is so cute! I love the monorails... clearly she does too! :)

Katie opened her first Christmas present tonight:santa:. We had dh's late grandmother's family Christmas. We brought a dish and a gift for our own kids. Katie got a truck! She loves to play with the trucks at daycare. Dd10 got a Zhu Zhu pet, thanks to the posts on the budget board. After it popped up there that CVS was getting them, I called and found out their trucks come in on Mon, and walked into our local store on Tue afternoon to find a counter full of them! All the kids loved it. She is getting another one and the wheel on Christmas. Ds12 got a camo shirt:rolleyes1 He says he is too old for toys:sad2:

We have dh's mother's Christmas tomorrow night, we've already had his work party, then we don't have anything else until Christmas Eve at my family's. Then we get Christmas morning at home, and then go to his fathers for lunch.

Wow, that is a lot of Christmas!!

What kind of truck? I'm so lost on toys.. I have just been following guidelines on the boxes. So many of the toys, though, require him to sit up on his own and he can't yet so they're sorta useless at the moment.

Annnd.. what exactly IS a ZhuZhu pet?? All I know is "hamster".. like, what do they do??

Anyone know of any exercises that might help me get Lucas sitting up on his own??

Okay guys, maybe a TMI question here but I thought you guys would be perfect to ask.

I just started my first postpartum period almost exactly 8 weeks after giving birth and it it SUPER heavy, much heavier than it ever has been my whole life.

Is this normal?

I think it's normal, and probably the next several will be irregular and possibly heavier. I'm about 6.5 mo pp but no AF yet so I really don't remember with the others. :confused3

None of mine sat up at 6 mo, probably closer to 7 or 8 honestly. Amelia doesn't sit. She gets lots of floortime so she can pivot, scoot, push up,etc. I think as long as Lucas gets lots of free time on the floor, he'll sit when he's ready and his back is ready.

You can try putting him in a Boppy and putting toys in reach. I also have a Bumbo but she hates it and it makes her sit funny so we don't use it. I have started putting her in the seat in shopping carts to sit (I use one of those cart covers) and she does pretty good.

Toys...she is getting board books and a ball pop-up thingy, she is still too young for it (needs to be a good sitter to play with it) but at this point, I like to buy toys for future play, they will grow into them fast! (as long as they are safe LOL!). I did buy her the ring toy, the playskool one with the 5 color rings that go on the stick, forget it's real name. I gave it to her early LOL, she likes it. Oh and she got a Sophie girafe and LOVES her!! (gave it to her early too LOL)

I'm nursing and AF hasn't shown up yet, but I also think that heavy is normal for the 1st few months.

Zhu Zhu pets are "the" toy this season. People have gone crazy over them! Like camping out at 10pm to be 1st in line the next morning when the store opens. And paying $60 each on Ebay and Amazon, for a $10 toy! It is cute for $10, but not worth more than that. It runs around and climbs up easy inclines, and makes little sounds. And they are supposed to interact, so I can't wait to see what 2 do together.

Katie has been sitting up for awhile, and crawling for over a month, so she just pushes the little truck and makes noises. She has been playing with a truck when I pick her up every day from daycare. I got her a little $7 one from Walmart, that makes popping sounds when you push it. *She is the only one her age at daycare doing this, and one baby that is about a week younger just started rolling over, so it is all normal right now!

My kids get 3 gifts from Santa (I'm so glad I limited it from the ds12's 1st Christmas-mainly because we had just bought a house and couldn't afford more). She is getting a pink Disney princess rocking horse ($15 at Walmart on Black Fri), a laptop (6mos and up from the toy dept at Walmart), and a stuffed Minnie (from the baby section of Walmart). I don't know what to put in her stocking! I think I'll just get some necessities, like baby soap. From us, she is getting the Snow White movie and some clothes.

***I forgot! I also got her some bath toys (again, 6 mos and up from baby section of Walmart) for her stocking! I got them yesterday and forgot all about it.

I think it's normal, too, for the period to be heavier. Mine definitely was and I had a c-section even.

Okay, that relieves my mind about the sitting up a bit, too. I got Lucas the ball popper, too! It's under the tree, though... he'll have to wait. hehe. I don't let him on the floor... mostly because they're wood and cold. I'll put him on the floor in his room but downstairs he's in his Pack-N-Play if he's free.

I just got this in an email from ivillage, and had to come and post here:

Your child is now 31 weeks old!
WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR BABY
Your baby is probably very close to sitting all on her own. This is a major achievement (and one that's going to make your life just that much easier)! Hang out together on her level -- playing games and talking while "sitting around" will help her perfect this skill.

Wish me luck to make it through tonight. We have dh's mother's Christmas. She has barely had anything to do with me since I refused to take Katie to Gatlinburg in a camper (she said she would put blanket in a box for her to sleep in!) when she was 6 wks old. She's only seen Katie a handful of times. She has gotten dd10 a few times (ds12 won't go anymore) but she has gotten dd10 a few times. She has my sil pick her up, then drops her off at sil's house. For dh's birthday, she dropped a card and $20 off at sil's house. No phone call or anything! I'm also not looking forward to having Katie in the carseat (she hates it) for an hour each way.

Yes!! Mine is still crazy, and I am 9 months out.. and Patsy, I wouldnt worry about him not sitting up.. Vinny still isnt sitting up well. He can crawl, stands up and cruises along the furniture.. and when we sit him up, he just leans over and takes off crawling. He does fine in carts, and in high chairs and stuff. Just wont sit up on the floor!

Maybe I'll get one of those cart things so I can sit him up in. He doesn't have a lot of time building those muscles.. maybe even start putting him in his high chair for a few hours.

Thanks, guys! I was going to talk to the pediatrician about it Friday but seems like he's doing alright and nothing to worry about.

december, I hope tonight goes well!

I have a quick update in the triplets! All is well!! They are all doing much better. Little Charlie is having one of her chest tubes taken out, and her head swelling is pretty much gone. She is doing TONS better. Eli, the littlest one, is coming off the vent and going on CPAP, and Caleb is going down in the vent.. Instead of having it run continuously.. Well.. It wont. :confused3:lmao: I dont know how else to explain it.

I think everyone knows it will still be a long road ahead, but this is the first time they have actually been able to imagine taking all three babies home with them. My heart is happy right now. I hope they continue to improve.

one of my twin mommy friends runs a charity for her NICU.. they give hand made beanies to the babies in the NICU at her hospital. WHen I told them what was going on with the trips, she sent some beanies and they got them today! Little Christmas beanies! I guess Santa is coming next week to do pics. with the babies, and they are going to try to have them with their Christmas hats.

So far we have only gotten the babies some scooter/walker thingys.. and Jasmine a little dinosaur thing that growls. She FREAKS out when we would play with it at the store.. So I think she will love it! We still have a bunch of stuff left over from when the older kiddos were babies. So we probably wont get them a ton more stuff. But my older kids are getting bikes! that is really exciting.. I wanted to get them for bikes, and I have been looking for a killer deal but hadnt found one. My mom went to Target and called me up.. Didnt you want to get the kids bikes? So she bought them, and we are going to pay for half.. So they will be from all of us. Not that my kids care, they wont even notice who they are from! I cant WAIT for Christmas morning, and seeing them walk out and the looks on their faces seeing those bikes sitting there!!!:love::love::love::love: I am wicked excited. :lmao:

How sad is it that I am not even remotely ready for Christmas. :sad2: I have to go shopping next week. I HAVE to.

It's not sad.

It's sad that I got ready for Christmas before I finished with my classes.

I keep telling myself it's because I needed a happy little break. :rotfl:
Still have 5 more classes to finish up, but I think Lucas is over his hellion stage so I should be able to finish another one tomorrow!!

I survived;). Katie screamed the whole hour to mil's house. We pulled over on the insterstate about halfway there, and I switched seats with ds12 so I'd be in the backseat with her, but she still screamed and reached for me and tried to sit up. We got there, and I went straight to the back to nurse her (they are a squeamish bunch....) and step-fil (who has Aspergers....) walked in on me. I didn't care, but you could tell he didn't like it! I came out and gave her to dh, and went to the bathroom. I came back out to find bil feeding her wheat thins! She had a whole one sucking on it. I told him no and threw it away, so he moved on to the cheese spread. We were there a whole half hour before he told the first racist joke. And he kept making fun of ds12 because he had to go to my family's for lunch instead of hunting this afternoon. Fun times......She only screamed half the way home before she fell asleep.

Mil got me the cute Mickey Mouse paper towel holder and tink rolling duffel from disneystore.com, so that wasn't too bad. And she was in an ok mood. I did have to ask them to put their dog in another room, since he bites. They didn't know Katie was crawling, so I had to pick up all the chew toys before she could get to them! My other bil, dh's youngest brother, wasn't there (air force) so it wasn't as chaotic as last night. There were probably 50 people stuffed into a not overly large house at that party!

Last night my sil (bil's wife) tried to feed Katie a whole cookie-and not a soft one! They just don't get it. She really isn't interested in much food, but even if she was the cookie and cracker are choking hazzards!

Last night dh's aunt(father's side) was telling us about her coworker and his wife. They had a baby 5 wks early-had been joking about wanting it to come early for the tax deduction, and then it happened. They were apparently being uncooperative with the drs, mad that they couldn't bring the baby home today when she was supposed to come home, etc. Sil tells us tonight that the mother died overnight from a blood clot! Scary to think about, and so sad.:sad2:

That IS sad. And as I read through most of this I wondered if somehow we didn't have the same in-laws. There is a nosy man at church who thinks it's HIS duty to check all the empty rooms while church is going on and make sure everyone is in the chapel. He walks in on me nursing every.freaking.Sunday. And then acts like he caught me doing something wrong.:sad2:

At least our Christmases are over for awhile (how sad is that?). Dh says next year he wants to have his mother's Christmas at our house. We live about 15 min from his brother, but we all (our family of 5 and bil's family of 4) drive an hour to see mil and step-fil. With the baby, it is just too much. And I can cook:laughing:. The youngest brother is their half brother, and in the the Air Force, so most of the time he isn't there anyway, He is in NC now, but is moving to AL early next year, so will have to drive right past us to get to mil's!

I'm just glad I am through with my class for this term. This weekend has been crazy. I haven't gotten any cleaning done, laundry is still piled up, and I have to go back to work tomorrow! But after this week, I get 2 wks off for Christmas-and I can't wait!

My sister and her 7 yr old are going to WDW with us in June. I was nursing Katie at the table today (under my wrap) and she made a comment about weaning her before our trip. Um, no. This is my last baby, and I plan to nurse for around 18 mos if possible! Hearing her whine about it is just a bonus!:rotfl:

Oh no! That is so sad.

I havent had a problem with people trying to feed the babies stuff they shouldnt eat.. Except my kids. :rolleyes:I think they were just a couple of months old and Kaylee tried to give them chili. :sad2::lmao:More often I get my mom telling me they arent ready for this.. or that.. When I pulled out the jumper, my mom freaked out on me that it was too soon. Ummm... I have been doing this for a while, I know when my babies are ready for whatever. I dont need advice from a woman that barely raised one kid. You know? Grrrrrr...

Jazzy had some spaghetti noodles and a little sauce for dinner. Holy COW can the child eat. She ate a huge bowl full! She is way more interested in feeding herself then taking a bottle, or me feeding her. Vinny on the other hand would rather just lay down with a bottle. Bizzarro.. Its so weird to have two of them, and see them progressing at different rates.

DD got a few early Xmas presents from my MIL. She bought too much! :rotfl: So we're giving DD one of the presents every few days. One of them was a toy she really liked to play with at daycare, but it hadn't been around in a while (they kinda have toys on a rotation). DH put it in front of her and she looked so surprised, it was so cute. It was like she was saying, "This wondrous thing is for me?" Awwwww... :lovestruc

We got a new carseat over the weekend; the Evenflo Symphony 65. It's much more comfortable than her old seat. I think she likes it much better. We put it in the living room so we could adjust the straps properly and she was sitting there smiling. It was like she in a recliner watching TV. :happytv:

I'm so excited/terrified for Christmas this year. We usually spend it with mainly DHs family and it's always insane! Here's the usual lineup:
Christmas Eve: 4-6p--my Aunt's
7p-10p dinner at FIL with part of family
11-? DH grandparents (one year we got home at 3 am Chistmas morning.)

Christmas Day:10 am stop by my parents for about a hour tops
11-1 go back to FIL
3p-? back at DHs grandparents.

It is INSANE--DH's family is crazy about Christmas. Everyone gets everyone else presents and we all live within about 15 minutes of each other. So there are about 35 people opening presents in the 2 days. And that's just couting extended family. We spend a while with just our parents, not to mention with my family.

Getting confused? I am! lol Things have been a lot more hit or miss since MIL died a few years ago. It's like the spirit of Christmas went with her to a certain extent. I hope I can relax enough to bring back some of the joy with Lily, but it'll be hard. Especially if her reaction (and mine) to the noise on Thanksgiving is any indication.

We already told everyone that we are only going to the grandparents on Christmas day. So if they can't make it, they can come to FIL on Christmas Eve, which will just make us there even longer. sigh I can't even imagine how much stuff we will be bringing home for Lily. We can usually fill half of our little living room with the stuff just for DH and I.

We spent over $700 for gifts. I really wish we just did a secret santa or something. Lily's the only kid under 16.
