The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Hey Patsy! Can't wait to hear what happens and to see pics of Lucas!

Luca rolled over today!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I need to let Ella on her belly more... I feel she doesn't have good control of her head yet...at 2 months....I dunno :confused3

And...Patsy...I backtracked, and saw you were 'going in'...
so I"m guesssing Lucas is here?????

Details!!! :goodvibes

I really need to start multi-quoting..I just got so excited to see Patsy on here.:rotfl:

Tummy time is good to help strengthen their necks. They usually gain good head control between 3 and 4 months!:goodvibes I can't believe Luca is going to be 4 months already tomorrow!

I didnt' realize I was away from here long enough for Patsy to have Lucas!! LOL
Time does fly!

Ella just turned 2 months yesterday, so I guess she'll get there with her head then :) She is soo big. She's 11 1/2 pounds!! And, while pregnant, they kept saying she was measuring small and not progressing so I stayed in high risk for 6 months!! She fooled everyone....my little miss piggy. LOL

They never get their sizes right. At the end, they told me Luca was going to be over 10 pounds and tried to convince me to get a c-section. Thank God I didn't listen, because he was only 8lbs9oz.;)

oh, is that all?? LOL
My DS was my only 8lber and that was big!!

I remember my first DD, they said she was going to be about 9 lbs, and she was only 7lbs 4oz...

Ella was 7.7 but by the time we left hospital, she was only 6 1/2 lbs... So, in 2 months, she's close to doubling!! They aren't supposed to double (I've heard) until their first bday .. My son did that. 8lbs at birth...16lbs at 1 yr checkup.
Ella only has 3 lbs to go to double her birth weight...lol

I'm just copy/pasting from the "Moms to Be" thread...

5am: Admitted into Labor and Delivery
5:45am: Start Pitocin drip
8am: Water is broken (dilated to 3)
10am: Dilated to 4
11am: Epidural
12noon: Epidural finally starts to work
12:45pm: Dilated to 5
3:45pm: Dilated to "stretchy" 7
5:45pm: Epidural wears off. Between gallbladder and contractions, I couldn't take it. I tried. I had complete and total back labor and I hyperventilated because of the pain so had to wear an oxygen mask :guilty:
6:30-ish: Re-injection of the epidural starts to kick in. Was a stretchy 9. OB asked me if I thought I could push. Pushed. Nothing. Upped the Pitocin.
7:30pm: Fully dilated, time to push. Lucas goes into distress while pushing. Someone else is in c-section OR, so my OB had me stop pushing until the OR was free in case they couldn't get his heartrate back up after one of the pushes.
8:15-pm-ish: OR clear, so we start pushing. Pushed for an hour, OB said they were "great pushes" and Lucas couldn't get past my pelvic bone.
9:15pm: OB makes call for c-section after 16 hours of labor.

9:30pm:... Epidural wore off again and I was a mess. Exhausted, could barely breathe from hyperventilating, etc... I was not a happy camper and started crying in the room. :guilty: Mr. Anesthesiologist man gave me lots of drugs, though...

10:04pm: Lucas James entered the world via c-section weighing in at 9lbs5oz with a length of 22".... I was bawling in the OR, I'll admit it. :)

1:25am: I finally, finally, finally got to see him up close and to hold him... :goodvibes:cloud9:

OB said I never would have been able to do a natural delivery and apologized for letting me labor so long...

Nurses did a great job getting pictures taken in the OR, even video-ed DH changing his first diaper for me to see!!

Picture time!!
*pictures out*

He's an incredibly laid back baby, he doesn't cry. He makes little gurgling noises that are adorable and I wish those would last forever, as I figure crying is in the future...

If he starts to get even a little bit fussy all you have to do is rub his head and he goes right back to sleep!! :lovestruc

OH Patsy he's beautiful!!! Your quick play by play made me cry for yoU!! I'm sorry you had to labor that long, but, see...it's always worth it :goodvibes

Congrats!!!!!!

He's beautiful Patsy! and huge!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad they finally gave you a c-section! Now, the next part of your life begins! I am so happy for you and your husband!:goodvibes

:rotfl2::rotfl2:Mine too! I know Luca is over 16 lbs! I will get his exact weight on Tuesday! Little porker has probably doubled his too. All of mine did by about 4 months too!

I was curious so did a search:

A newborn baby will LOSE up to 10% of her body weight within the first few days of life. Within the first 2 weeks she will REGAIN this loss.

On average babies DOUBLE their birth weight by 4 months; TRIPLE their birth weight by 12 months and will be around FOUR TIMES their birth weight by 2 years. (Some babies will reach these levels at a much YOUNGER age... Some at a much OLDER age.)

The most RAPID period of growth is between 2 weeks and 6 months of age. This rate of growth DECLINES slightly at around the age of 6 months; DECLINES further around 9 months and DECLINES further still at around 12 months. (These ages can vary depending on each individual baby.)

It won't be until a child reaches adolescence (teenage years) that she will once AGAIN experience the RAPID rate of growth she experiences in your first year of life.

:lmao:Someone had told that twins are generally born smaller... and STAY small for a while. NOT MINE!! I was totally expecting them to stay little for longer! They are growing on track with full term babies, and I think they are the biggest twins on my twin board!:lmao::lmao:
