The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I can't help with formula. I'm like a cow.....

I have all my disney plans done, days planned, adrs made......and just read that the new summer fantastic stuff at MK starts on June 6. I planned MK for June 2 and 5th and SWW at DHS on Sun June 6! Now I have to decide if it is worth it to swap things around! I really want to see the new fireworks!

Ahhhh! They're doing away with Wishes?! I'm so out of the loop.

We're going the same time frame, and here's what we're doing with our Park Hoppers:
Sun. June 6 - The guys are going to DHS VERY early to do Star Wars stuff while us ladies (me, my mom, and Isabelle) do something else. We're all planning to nap mid day, and then go to Magic Kingdom after dinner at Kona. We're going to hopefully get there in time for the Main Street Electrical Parade, and Summer Nighttastic, and then do some rides since it's an EMH night 'til 2am.

Yep, absolute value. I swear I put that. Maybe I messed up and only put one or the other. Or maybe I mistyped.. or maybe I put the right answer with a period instead of a comma so the computer counted it wrong. I'm eager to see the test tomorrow (I can view it after midnight) and see if there are any I can e-mail her about to get partial credit. :rotfl:

I've already taken this stupid class but as a business major. The education department is making me retake it to get a new grade. :headache: They're sticklers! At least I don't have to retake statistics. Thank goodness for that!

What is your paper on? I wonder how Lisa is doing with school. It's nice to have other moms to vent about homework with! :lmao:

Have I posted that statistics is my last class? :scared1: I hope it won't be bad-the book title is Statistics for People Who Don't Think They Like Statistics:lmao: Since I'm a math teacher, I put this one off for last hoping it would be easy. If my current class had been my first, I wouldn't be finishing my masters......My paper can be on anything about testing in counseling.

Ahhhh! They're doing away with Wishes?! I'm so out of the loop.

Temporarily! This summer they are changing things up, longer hours at AK, electrical parade replacing spectro, new fireworks, etc. I just looked at my schedule, and I'm leaving it alone for now. I have CRT booked and paid for on June 5 for me and my girls, and there is no opening on Sunday June 6.

We don't have parkhoppers. I may look at it more later when an official schedule of new events comes out. I just hate to start messing with my adrs now!

I have couple questions.

I'm falling behind in providing enough milk for my little one. He is drinking 3oz and I am only giving 2oz per pumping sestion and was wondering if it was ok to use different formulas to fill in feedings so I can catch up? I got a few different sample formulas and was wondering if it was ok to use the different formulas as he finishes each kind or do I need to pick one and stick with it? Also this info will be good for when I go shopping and buying what is on sale or have coupons for.

My other question is

Is there a better time to give the formula for a filler feeding for me catching up?

Welcome! Are you strictly pumping or is he also nursing? I've always had a supply that far out weighed both of my boys' demands so I never had to suppliment. But, it might be helpful if you increase your food and water intake. You could also try Kellymom, it's got great resources for all things BF.

Ok, I just had to share this good news since it's involving WDW and all! ::MickeyMo

We booked our air for our trip this summer and the total was...

$36

That is for 3 seats, with the LO sitting in my lap. I had travel vouchers for being bumped off a flight and the dates just wouldn't match up. You basically have to call and check the dates and if they match, you can use the voucher for a free roundtrip ticket. If they don't, they tell you the nearest dates. I spoke with the supervisor a few weeks ago and he told me we could get $100 off each roundtrip instead. I told him I would think about it and call him back. I don't recall sharing our awful travel story, but we ended up with 6RT ticket vouchers.

Tonight we called on a whim to see if the dates matched or the final cost less the vouchers. Of course they didn't match. We found out that we could use 1 of the vouchers for our DS! So that made the air $613 less $300. Good news. The agent told me to hold and she came back and said the supervisor remembered us. He wanted to make this trip start off on a good note so they put us on the flights we wanted and all 3 tickets were free! :woohoo: We just had to pay a surcharge for the seats. I could just do a cartwheel! It's been a tiring day and now I feel like I could jog to Texas and back!

Well... I think it might have been a bug the babies had. They are back to normal, and we gave them milk again tonight. They did great with it. AND Vinny took his sippy cup great. So we are down to only bottles right before bed, and sippy cups the rest of the day. Hopefully we can break them of the bottles in a few days. We have no paci's this tome around, so I dont have to worry about breaking them of that. I was a total wimp with my older kids. You know when you are out, and you see that three year old with a paci, and you shake your head saying what is wrong with that parent?? Yeah. That was us. :lmao: But not this time! I guess our next big hurdle is potty training. But I have a bit before I need to worry about that. Potty training X2. Cant wait!

ArielRae, my DS had no problems switching. We started with the Parents Choice from Walmart, and then were given a bunch of Enfamil from my sister-in-law's friend. He has no issues.

I was like you, worried E wasn't getting enough, so we started supplementing a few days before his 2 week appointment. Imagine my surprise at his 2 week checkup when he had gained over a pound from when he was discharged from the hospital!!

ShootingStar, that is AWESOME!!!!!!! Doesn't get much better than that!!!

Staley, I'm glad they're feeling better. I cannot imagine having all that poop around for more than a few days.. I would have gone insane!!

Lucas is 9 months today!! So weird. Time has flown! I am getting his picture taken today.. combining it with Easter. He's crawling around in his jammies right now pretty confused (I didn't want him getting his Easter outfit dirty so he doesn't get to wear it until we walk out the door! :rotfl:)... I'm excited to see the pictures. I haven't had any done since Christmas and he can sit up on his own now. :)

DH and I gave him a bottle of the premade nestles good start we got for free last night and he seemed to do ok with it. He was a little fussy but we think that was because DH was warm holding him and he fell asleep so when it was time to lay him down he didn't want to. So back into DH arms were he calmed down and fell asleep again.

I am strictly pumping with the exception if he gets really fussy I nurse to calm him down.

DS just had his 2 week check up and he gained back his birth weight plus an ounce. The doctor is happy with it but was hoping that he would have gained more. Our next appointment is his 2 month. We got a baby scale for him in the mail and plan on weighing him once a week to make sure he is gaining properly.

One thing you might notice with the formula is that your baby is gassier. When we started supplementing, we picked up a bottle of Little Tummies and we give it to him anytime we give him formula.

At his two week checkup, DS has gained back his birth weight plus 10 ounces!!

OK...the problem with supplementing is that it will cause you to have more supply problems...tho exclusive pumpers have different challenges. Have you looked over at kellymom? They have a special section for EPers.

Forgive me if you know any or all of this...I'm not trying to talk down to you, I just don't know what you know! :thumbsup2

If I were you, I would add another pumping session while I work on boosting my supply. Oatmeal and water work wonders for increasing your supply. kellymom has a whole section with tips.

Babies do a much better job at cleaning out a breast than pumps do, so the more you can nurse, the better.

Please don't over stress about the weight gain, don't let it prevent you from bfing. http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/growth/index.html

What kind of pump do you use?

I know none of this answers your questions. So if you weren't looking for bfing advice and just formula, I'm sorry! :thumbsup2

I just want to second what Sarah said about weight gain. Scarlett is my 3rd baby and I have exclusively breastfed all of them (well, 1st kid had some supplementation for the first 2 weeks, but that was it for any of them). She is 5.5 weeks right now and weighs 9lbs 14oz, and her birthweight was 8lbs 1oz. My son, however, was 11lbs 4oz at a month, from his birthweight of 8lbs 4oz. But it's not that Scarlett isn't getting enough milk, as I have more than enough, she's just a slower grower than my son. And my first, who had the formula as well as breastmilk, she was in the middle, 10lbs 3oz at 1 month.

And my ability to post has been limited lately as this reflux kicks up with the Zantac not working too well. I'm giving it another day, but if there's no improvement then on Friday I am calling her ped to ask about switching to Prevacid instead. I could live with constantly changing my clothes and hers, but the pain that she clearly is in from the reflux is not something I want to see her suffer through.

Okay, I got Easter pictures taken today!!!!
Here are some of my favorites!

Sears. I bought their Super Saver card thing. It's like $15 (lasts a year) and you get B1G1 prints if you go through M-T. Plus, a free 8x10. So I got an 8x10, 4 5x7s and 16 wallets for $20. Works for me!

I bought the bunny and the eggs and took them with me. I figured they'd have stuff but I also figured I'd rather know it hasn't been touched by a million people, so I brought my own. Smallest pack of eggs I could find was 42! I will have to hold on to them for next year for an Easter egg hunt.

I'm almost at the point of supplimenting with Alex...we are out of the freezer stash and my supply at work is slowly dwindling. I've been getting less and less in the past few weeks. I think the sitter will have to give him formula tomorrow. I almost made it to 6 months! Just another 13 days and I would have been there!

On another note though, he seems to enjoy squash, sweet potatoes are eh, and tonight we'll try peas! Can't wait for another color poop! :rotfl:

How's everyone been!? Patsy - his pictures are so darn cute!!!

Need to vent.

I am doing nothing but pumping right now and feeling I am having no time with the baby. Getting fustrated and disappointed in myself. I am pumping when he is awake and sleeping. I am producing just 2 ounces from both breast with no extra if we wants more which is happening alot. I don't want to warm a 3 oz bottle just for him to not drink an ounce and then be short that ounce for a feeding later. I don't want to only give him 2 ounces and let him be hungry if he wants more.

I'm really considering giving him formula now so I know he is getting enough food and not shorting him. I was able to give birth to him without any drugs which I'm proud of cause I was afraid of problems the drugs could have done to him but now I feel I am letting him down by needing to give him formula.

I am in the mind set that I just want to give up on pumping all together just give formula so I can get some sanity back and be able to focus back on him and not having to pump all the time. I can handle making the formula for the day and giving him what he wants and throwing out any extra that he doesn't drink cause I can just make more unlike my breastmilk.

So basically I feel bad by wanting to go all formula with him but also feel that it will be better for us both as I can feed him what he needs and I don't have to drive myself crazy pumping every 2 hours trying to keep up with him and trying not to short him milk. I know I can do both breast milk and formula but if I don't pump regulary I will lose my milk slowly and I rather get it over with all together then slowly so I can focus on him and not have to be concerned about anything else.

Thanks for letting me vent. I rather hear your thoughts here then from a mom and baby exclusive website.

Your baby will survive and thrive with formula. You are not a bad mom if you decide to go with formula. You will not harm your baby. None of us will think any less of you, many of us have been where you are and made that decision:grouphug:.

But as someone who has been there and stuck with it I just want to add the following.

Exclusive pumping is really, really, really hard. Bfing is super duper hard, but exclusive pumping is actually worse IMO. I considered it in the beginning, because I was so overwhelmed and tired and unhappy and worried she wasn't getting enough. I also considered quitting bfing for the same reasons. I did NOT like bfing in the beginning. I actually HATED it...there was no tender moments for me, it was a struggle every 1-2 hours. There were nights I felt like she was attached to me and I just wanted a bleeping shower. I felt used and drained and at times I resented her for it.

But little by little it got better until one day I realized it was actually easy and I was enjoying it. It took about 4 months for me to enjoy it, but it got easier around 12 weeks. Now I LOVE it :lovestruc It's so easy and convenient. Sometimes she'll look up at me and smile with her mouth on me and lol I'm getting all choked up! I NEVER thought I would get to where I am now in the beginning.

You can do it. It'll take work and frustration and sleeplessness, but it gets better...oh so much better.

But either way is okay. We're here for you no matter what! :grouphug:
